Aim: Removable partial dentures (RPDs) can influence the oral health and have the potential to cause further tooth loss, especially of abutment teeth. However, no evidence indicates the effective interval of regular periodontal maintenance after RPD provision. This study aimed to examine the impact of regular periodontal maintenance visits on survival of RPD abutment teeth. Materials and Methods: Patients were included if they had been provided with a clasp-retained RPD and had used it for 2 years or more. According to the frequency of periodontal maintenance, study samples were divided into three groups; every 3–6 months (3–6M) group, 1-year (1Y) group and no-maintenance (NM) group. Results: Five-year cumulative survival rates were 82.6% (3–6M), 74.4% (1Y) and 70.8% (NM) respectively. Survival of abutment teeth in the 3–6M group was significantly better than both 1Y and NM groups. Conclusion: The periodontal maintenance at least once in 6 months had the most favorable outcome. Frequent periodontal maintenance after RPD provision could be effective in preventing further tooth loss.

By correctly repositioning teeth, orthodontic therapy improves both the function and appearance of an occlusion. The relationship between teeth and the tissues that surround and support them significantly influences these alterations. With ever more adults seeking orthodontic care, orthodontists are increasingly seeing patients with periodontal issues. Concerns about the patient's appearance, such as uneven gingival margins or functional issues caused by inflammatory periodontal diseases, should be accounted for when designing orthodontic treatment plans. Furthermore, orthodontics may increase the chances of saving and recovering a degraded dentition in cases of severe periodontitis. Today, general dentists, dontists, and orthodontists play integrative roles that enable them to achieve the best possible results for their patients. This review will improve the results of interdisciplinary treatments and increase cooperation between dental specialists by drawing attention to the essential connection between orthodontics and periodontics in regular clinical practice. In the medical field the additive manufacturing process by fused deposition modeling has gained a great importance given the ability to create complex, organic geometries, in a short time period and the possibility of high customization. By fused deposition process the part is created layer by layer and the resulting part is characterized by high anisotropy, dictated mostly by printing parameters. To alleviate the anisotropy and to study the mechanical behavior of the 3D printed parts thermal processing is used. The materials used as filament is a poly (lactic acid) with copper particles embedded for antibacterial purposes. Samples were 3D printed using a commercial printer, thermally processed and tested in compression. On the failed specimens fracture investigations were performed to understand mechanical behavior during compression. The mechanical characteristics showed improvement and the anisotropy decreased as the processing temperature increased, but the samples became brittle. The mechanical behavior changed drastically on the thermally processed samples because of structural changes: a discontinuity between exterior layers and infill layers was created post layer fusion, the first region being the one stressed and failed first during tests. Introduction. Pregnancy and fibroma can occur simultaneously, although depending on the localization of the fibroma, it can pe associated with female infertility. We present a case successfully resolved last year in our clinic: a 44-year-old patient who obtained spontaneously a pregnancy after 10 years of fertility treatments and managed to follow to term the pregnancy simultaneously with a gigantic polyfibromatous uterus. Case presentation. The patient D.M. was given small chances to conceive naturally, in her thirties, because of her polyfibromatous uterus (more than 10 uterine fibromas that continued to grow as years followed). She tried in vitro fertilization, without success, and in 2021 she managed to conceive naturally. Her doctor was naturally reserved and managed her pregnancy monthly, the patient being diagnosed at 28 weeks of gestation with gestational diabetes. At that moment, we could measure with difficulty the fetus, because there were at least six fibromas of 8 cm each, most of them intramurally. She was programed at 37 weeks of gestation for caesarean section following transverse presentation. A baby boy, weighing 2640 g, with Apgar scores of 5 (at 1 minute) and 7 (at 5 minutes), was born, due to the difficult extraction. Discussion. The obstetrics and gynecology team, after the consent of the mother, decided to do simultaneously total interanexial hysterectomy for this patient, because the uterus was globally enlarged up to her diaphragm, even after delivery. We also performed bilateral hypogastric artery ligation. Preoperatively, blood tests were taken, and isogroup and isoRh were prepared. The patient received intravenous ferrum postoperatively and left the hospital after a week of triple antibiotic association and anticoagulant prophylactic therapy, with a hemoglobin level of 9.7 g/dl and a hematocrit level of 27%. Conclusions. We successfully present the unique case of a primiparous 44-year-old patient who managed to conceive and to give birth at term to a healthy baby, but also the disciplinary approach to the polyfibromatous uterus, as it further endangered the patient’s life. Scope: The scope of the present study was to clinically evaluate the iathrogenic factors, as well as the odontoperiodontal status of the teeth included in prosthetic works and their relations with the neighbouring ones. Materials and method: The experimental group was formed of 40 patients subjected to prosthetic treatment, including thorough clinical evaluations, analysis of all factors contributing to the occurrence of occlusal trauma and, implicitly, of the subsequent periodontal disease. The mean values were calculated with the statistical Wilcoxon and t tests, permitting to compare the evaluations. Results and discussion: Out of the total number of patients considered for the study, 68.18% have been treated through fixed prosthetic therapy and 31.82% - through mixed prostheses. Among them, 47.27% had occlusal trauma. More numerous occlusal disorders were registered in patients with mixed prostheses (61.20%), comparatively with those with fixed prostheses (43.58%). Conclusions: The results of the present study evidence that the teeth involved in mixed prosthetic works may frequently show signs of occlusal trauma, but not neccesarily and always accompanied by an irreversible destruction of the periodontal tissue.
