Context: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, prevalent in athletic contexts have profound physical and psychological impacts. Despite extensive research on the physiological aspects of ACL recovery, the psychological dimensions of this process have gained increased attention. This scoping review delves into the intricate landscape of psychological factors influencing ACL rehabilitation. Design: Scoping review. Methods: A literature search across multiple databases was conducted to identify relevant published studies that provide insight into the psychological aspects of ACL recovery. This search spanned various study designs, enabling a nuanced understanding of the psychological intricacies surrounding ACL recovery. Overall, a total of 1830 unique articles were screened, of which 66 were included in this review. Our findings are further contextualized through alignment with insights from prior reviews on similar themes. Through a comprehensive analysis of diverse literature, we explore 3 key themes: psychological challenges, current rehabilitation programs, and the integration of psychological support. Results: Psychological challenges emerged as a pervasive aspect of ACL rehabilitation, encompassing fear, anxiety, motivation, and depression. The nuanced emotional responses, particularly the fear of reinjury, impact treatment adherence and overall well-being. Contemporary rehabilitation programs revealed inconsistencies in incorporating psychological support, emphasizing the need for standardized, multidisciplinary approaches. The alignment with prior reviews in the literature reinforced the importance of psychological traits, such as knee self-efficacy, in predicting positive outcomes. Conclusion: This scoping review provides a comprehensive overview of psychological factors within ACL rehabilitation, highlighting the importance of tailored interventions and standardized approaches. The integration of multidisciplinary expertise emerges as crucial for optimizing patient outcomes. Purpose: Travel fatigue impacts cognitive and physiologic systems, but its association with elite soccer match performance is unclear. In this retrospective observational study, we aimed to explore the association between travel and match outcomes in elite North American soccer. Methods: Travel data and match outcomes (team points or goals scored and conceded) and physical performance outcomes from 26 elite professional soccer teams and their players were analyzed (148 matches [team-based data] and 1252 player matches from 297 players; age 22.7 [4.5] y). Player- and match-level correlations between performance measures and both acute and cumulated travel metrics were analyzed. Results: Cumulative travel metrics were positively associated with team (travel distance [r =.20; 95% CI,.03–.25], travel time [r =.20;.06–.37], and time away [r =.20;.06–.37]) and individual player (travel distance, [r =.14;.08–.19], travel time [r =.17–.23], and time away [r =.13;.07–.18]) high-intensity running. Cumulative time away was negatively associated with team points (r = −.14; −.28 to −.001) and positively associated with goals conceded (r =.14;.01–.27); no clear association between acute travel metrics and match outcomes or physical performance was observed. Conclusions: As travel cumulated, away teams and their players ran more but for less reward (team points), although the magnitude of these associations was small. The introduction of Large Language Models (LLM) to the chatbot landscape has opened intriguing possibilities for academic libraries to offer more responsive and institutionally contextualized support to users, especially outside of regular service hours. While a few academic libraries currently employ AI-based chatbots on their websites, this service has not yet become the norm and there are no best practices in place for how academic libraries should launch, train, and assess the usefulness of a chatbot. In summer 2023, staff from the University of Delaware's Morris Library information technology (IT) and reference departments came together in a unique partnership to pilot a low-cost AI-powered chatbot called UDStax. The goals of the pilot were to learn more about the campus community's interest in engaging with this tool and to better understand the labor required on the staff side to maintain the bot. After researching six different options, the team selected Chatbase, a subscription-model product based on ChatGPT 3.5 that provides user-friendly training methods for an AI model using website URLs and uploaded source material. Chatbase removed the need to utilize the OpenAI API directly to code processes for submitting information to the AI engine to train the model, cutting down the amount of work for library information technology and making it possible to leverage the expertise of reference librarians and other public-facing staff, including student workers, to distribute the work of developing, refining, and reviewing training materials. This article will discuss the development of prompts, leveraging of existing data sources for training materials, and workflows involved in the pilot. It will argue that, when implementing AI-based tools in the academic library, involving staff from across the organization is essential to ensure buy-in and success. For the past 70 years, researchers and experimental musicians have been working with computersynthesized music, forming a collaborative relationship with generative artificial intelligences known as human--AI co-creation. The last several years have shown that musical artists are quickly adopting AI tools to produce music for AI music competitions and for commercial production of songs and albums. The United States Copyright Office, in response to this trend, has released its latest policy revisions to clearly define what is eligible for copyright registration. Soon after, the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC) also released new guidelines, providing recommendations for how library catalogers should address AI-generated materials. In both cases, they reject the notion of considering AI as a contributor. The language in each of these policies, however, is self-contradicting, showing that they are ill equipped to address generative AI. This study leverages critical textual analysis and qualitative content analysis and uses case examples to probe the manner in which these policies regard generative AI. Recommendations are made for addressing shortcomings in the PCC's policies, and moral philosophical frameworks such as virtue ethics and consequentialism support arguments for supplementing catalog item records with information from authoritative external sources, deviating from this policy for the sake of truth-seeking. Concepts such as "global work" and "cross-cultural interaction" have been used to refer to a variety of types of encounters, resulting in imprecise theorizing and difficulty drawing implications for practice. Integrating across disparate literatures, we developed a meta-theory for "global work encounters," defined as instances in which individuals associated with different cultural, national, or geopolitical institutional contexts interact for the purpose of completing organizationally sanctioned tasks. Our meta-theory incorporates theoretical perspectives from the domains of diversity, cross-cultural psychology, and international management, each of which focuses on different global work encounters and the processes and spaces they create: "cosmopolitan spaces," characterized by status entrenchment resulting from maintenance processes; "hybrid spaces," characterized by amalgamation resulting from adaptation processes; and "optimally distinctive spaces," characterized by both uniqueness and commonality resulting from adjustment processes. Our theoretical framework identifies the initial conditions—consequences at the individual level on identity, interpersonal level on mutuality, and task level on synthesized knowledge—that give rise to these three types of spaces and the processes that prompt evolution from one space to another. We propose a theoretical framework and develop a game-theoretical analysis to advance understanding of the cooperation dilemma in team production. We conceptualize team production as a process where productive and appropriative activities coexist, shifting the focus from whether team members cooperate to what type of cooperative behavior they are willing to adopt. Depending on the extent to which members cooperate to create value and compete to appropriate value, we can observe scenarios of full, partial, and no cooperation. After characterizing member behavior in the different scenarios, we study which form of cooperation can be sustained through repeated interaction, mutual monitoring, and reciprocity. To do so, we allow for different deviations from cooperation, which are then accompanied by different reactions according to an equivalent retaliation strategy. Our focus is on how member behavior and incentives to cooperate relate to team size. This article describes the perceptions and experiences of collaboration between teachers of physical education (n = 3) and special educators (n = 3) on teaching pupils with disabilities. Using a qualitative approach, the study seeks to establish the nature and extent of collaboration among these teachers and to identify the benefits and barriers to implementation. Semistructured interviews were used as the main data source. Data were collected from teachers working in the public school system in the southern part of Finland. The findings indicate that while teachers are mostly aware of the value of collaboration, its implementation varies immensely among the different schools. While the special educators in this study see themselves mainly responsible for supporting pupils with disabilities, the physical education teachers showed a strong commitment to the subject matter of their teaching. This assessment evaluated the clinical feasibility of using narrow-diameter implants to support a mandibular overdenture. Twelve patients presenting with an edentulous mandible were recruited from nine dental offices. Each patient received two to four implants in the mandible. The implants were placed without additional bone augmentation, and a total of 36 implants were placed. All sites achieved satisfactory crestal bone stability and soft tissue maintenance 1 year after the final prosthetic restoration. This investigation was supported by the Osseointegration Foundation, working in conjunction with the Zest Anchors implant company. There are three basic valuable activities that emerge from a professional foundation, which were reflected in this case study. They include disseminating information to practitioners, persuading young clinicians to become research investigators, and reaching out to patients in need of treatment who cannot afford it without a charitable opportunity. Context: The purpose of this study was to compare short-term clinical outcomes between meniscus procedures performed with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR), ACLR (ACLR-only), ACLR with meniscectomy/resection (ACLR-resect), and ACLR with meniscal repair (ACLR-repair) for bone patellar tendon bone grafts (BPTB) and hamstring tendon grafts, separately. Design: This was a cross-sectional study conducted in a controlled laboratory setting as part of a large point-of-care collaborative research program. Methods: This study included 314 participants (168 females; mean [SD]: age, 19.7 [4.8]) with primary unilateral ACLR with a BPTB or hamstring tendon. Patients were divided into 3 groups depending on meniscal procedure (ACLR-only, ACLR-resect, and ACLR-repair). Postsurgical testing included: isokinetic assessment of knee extension and flexion, single-leg hop tests, and patient-reported outcomes. Multivariate analysis of covariance compared differences between meniscal procedures on the battery of tests, and for each statistically significant variable an analysis of covariance assessed the effect of meniscal procedure within each graft type. Chi-square analysis assessed the influence of meniscal procedure on tests' pass rates defined as 90% of limb symmetry index. Results: BPTB: ACLR-only had greater hamstring strength than ACLR-resect (P = .05) and ACLR-repair (P = .005). ACLR-only had the highest proportion of participants to pass the hamstring strength test (P=.02). amstring tendon: ACLR-only (P=.03) and ACLR-resect (P=.003) had higher International Knee Documentation Committee scale scores than ACLR-repair. There was a significant difference in the proportion of participants who scored >90% limb symmetry index on the timed hop test (P = .05). Conclusions: The influence of meniscal repair on clinical outcomes is dependent on the graft choice. Star performers do not always sustain their performance edge after moving to new organizations. We offer an important explanation for whether star performers may flourish or flounder when they join a new team. Integrating insights from attribution theory and social comparison research, we present a process model explaining how incumbents make sense of star newcomer status. We propose that incumbents determine whether the star newcomer attained their star status through internal factors (e.g., ability, grit) or external factors (e.g., luck, affiliation), which gives rise to one of four distinct emotions: optimism, inspiration, shame, or envy. Incumbents who feel optimism or inspiration attempt to enhance their status through learning or helping behaviors that subsequently facilitate star newcomer performance, whereas incumbents who feel shame or envy seek to protect their status through withdrawal or destructive behaviors that hinder star newcomer performance. We further propose that the effect of incumbent behaviors on star newcomer performance is particularly likely when there is a high need for task-related interactions and complementary skills among team members. Our theoretical framework helps to advance the star newcomer literature by examining the largely overlooked influence of incumbents and highlighting the cognitive process that precedes their behavior toward star newcomers. Bariatric dentistry is the branch of dental medicine focused on preventive and comprehensive oral health care of overweight or obese patients. Obesity is an increasing US and international health problem and is a condition characterized by abnormal or excessive fat accumulation in the adipose tissue and is categorized by body mass index (BMI) according to the World Health Organization (WHO). With the increase of morbid obesity worldwide and the unfavorable effect on the overall health and life expectancy, it is necessary that proper accommodations are made for accessible dental care of this vulnerable population of patients. The following case report details the emergency and the subsequent elective dental treatment of a patient with a morbid obesity and demonstrates the importance of necessary equipment, a multidisciplinary approach, and broad networking communication needed to treat bariatric patients. The aim of the present case report was to bring awareness and start professional discussions on the importance of dental practitioners in the community and dental academic programs working together to assure access for primary oral health for bariatric patients. Drawing on social resources theory, we examine the impact of developmental job experience (DJE) on employees' job performance and the role of the team context in this relationship. In a multisource, multiwave dataset of 354 employees working on 40 teams in seven Chinese companies, we find that DJE has a positive indirect relationship with job performance through increasing employees' information and support seeking. This positive indirect relationship is stronger for employees on teams with a high average DJE and low variance in DJE; it is significantly weaker for employees on teams with a low average DJE and a high variance in DJE. This study provides insight into an inclusive program between Special Olympics (SO) and academy football (soccer) players in the United Kingdom from the perspectives of players and facilitators. Qualitative focus groups were conducted across 30 participants (six facilitators, 14 Premier League academy players, and 10 SO players). Focus groups compared stakeholders' experiences of participating in a season-long inclusive football program. Three overarching higher order themes were generated, which highlighted positive outcomes from taking part. SO players provided endorsement for developing friendships and improving football skills, whereas academy players cited the positive impact that SO players had on their mood and motivation. Facilitators reflected on positive player outcomes and subsequent accomplishments. Overall, the findings indicated that this shared experience had psychosocial and football-specific benefits for everyone who participated. Purpose: There has been a proliferation in technologies in the sport performance environment that collect increasingly larger quantities of athlete data. These data have the potential to be personal, sensitive, and revealing and raise privacy and confidentiality concerns. A solution may be the use of synthetic data, which mimic the properties of the original data. The aim of this study was to provide examples of synthetic data generation to demonstrate its practical use and to deploy a freely available web-based R Shiny application to generate synthetic data. Methods: Openly available data from 2 previously published studies were obtained, representing typical data sets of (1) field- and gym-based team-sport external and internal load during a preseason period (n = 28) and (2) performance and subjective changes from before to after the posttraining intervention (n = 22). Synthetic data were generated using the synthpop package in R Studio software, and comparisons between the original and synthetic data sets were made through Welch t tests and the distributional similarity standardized propensity mean squared error statistic. Results: There were no significant differences between the original and more synthetic data sets across all variables examined in both data sets (P >.05). Further, there was distributional similarity (ie, low standardized propensity mean squared error) between the original observed and synthetic data sets. Conclusions: These findings highlight the potential use of synthetic data as a practical solution to privacy and confidentiality issues. Synthetic data can unlock previously inaccessible data sets for exploratory analysis and facilitate multiteam or multicenter collaborations. Background: Happiness is crucial for human wellbeing. Nursing students encounter distinct challenges such as stress, burnout, and emotional exhaustion, which can negatively impact their mental health. Cultural and societal factors also influence happiness. Objective: This study conducted a comparative analysis of Big Five personality traits and emotional regulation (ER) as predictors of happiness among nursing students in Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Methods: This cross‐sectional study included 739 nursing students from Jordan and Saudi Arabia who were selected using a multistage sampling technique. The instruments utilized in this study were the short version of the Big Five Inventory for assessing personality, Oxford Happiness Inventory for measuring happiness levels, and Emotional Regulation Questionnaire for evaluating ER. To identify the predictors of student happiness, stepwise regression analysis was conducted, and cross‐country comparisons were made using a "pool analysis" method. Results: The findings indicated that 62.1% of the participants reported moderate levels of happiness, whereas 36.0% reported high levels. There were significant differences in happiness levels between Jordan and Saudi Arabia (p = 0.003), with Jordanian students reporting lower happiness levels. In Saudi Arabia, there were significant variations based on age (p = 0.049) and academic year (p = 0.013). Multiple regression analysis revealed that higher agreeableness, extraversion, and conscientiousness were positively associated with happiness while openness had a weak association. Conversely, higher Neuroticism, being in Jordan, and being male were negatively associated with happiness. Nominal regression analysis indicated that extraversion and agreeableness are significant predictors of higher levels of happiness, whereas neuroticism is associated with lower levels of happiness. Furthermore, males and non‐Saudis were more likely to report lower levels of happiness. Conclusion: This study revealed notable determinants of happiness among nursing students in Saudi Arabia and Jordan. ER, Big Five personality traits, and demographic factors play influential roles. Overall, the robust regression model emphasized the dependability of these findings, providing valuable insights for nursing education and interventions aimed at improving student wellbeing. Polio vaccine hesitancy remains high in Pakistan due to various socio-political, religious, and economic factors. To address this, the government of Pakistan and its international partners such as UNICEF have devised a multipronged communication strategy to counter resistance to polio vaccine in hard-to-reach areas of the country. In this strategy, mainstream news media has been identified as a key stakeholder, as they have the potential to reach a wide range of population and disseminate easy to understand messages including both visuals and text. However, less scholarly attention has been paid to how mainstream news media in Pakistan frame polio and polio vaccine in their visuals. This study aims to fill this gap. Using visual framing as a theoretical framework, we analyzed 115 images from three selected newspapers published from 2010 to 2022. Our results suggest that the newspapers depicted hard-to-reach areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province which were more affected by polio and highlighted the criminality and securitization of polio vaccine in the country. In addition, female polio healthcare workers, who are instrumental in eradicating the disease, have been given marginal coverage, reflecting the importance of gender sensitivity in the region. Background: Female Sex Workers (FSW) in Sub Saharan Africa face multiple challenges increasing their vulnerability to poor health, particularly poor sexual and reproductive (SRH) health outcomes and violence. The aim of this study was to assess the use of gynecology health care services and factors associated with its use as well as experiences of violence among FSW in Togo. Method: A cross-sectional study was carried out in 2021 among FSW in two cities of Togo. A snowball sampling method was used and initial seeds were identified in each site in collaboration with FSW non-governmental organizations. A logistic regression was performed to identify factors associated with the use of a SRH service and violence. Results: A total of 447 FSW with a median age of 30 [IQR: (24–38)] participated in this study and 43.4% of them had reached at least secondary school. Among them, 29.1% reported having been to a gynecological consultation over the previous year. Factors associated with a gynecological consultation included: living in the Lomé capital city (aOR = 0.35, 95%CI 0.22–0.54), and an experience of condom breakage or slippage (aOR = 2.00; 95%CI 1.19–2.64). The majority reported at least one lifetime pregnancy (87.9%), 39.8% reported ever having an unintended pregnancy and 67.6% of them ever had an abortion. Finally, 61.1% indicated being victims of physical, sexual, or emotional violence in the previous six months. Sex workers living in Lomé (aOR = 1.78; 95%CI 1.16–2.73); a history of abortion (aOR = 1.53; 95%CI 1.03–2.31) and having more than 15 clients per week (aOR = 4.87; 95% CI 1.99–11.94), were more likely to experience violence. Conclusion: There is an under-utilization of health care services among FSW in Togo in addition to overall poor sexual and reproductive health outcomes with a high prevalence of gender-based violence. Those results highlight the importance of continued advocacy for the integration of SRH care with HIV prevention services geared toward FSW as well as a holistic approach to SRH care with innovative ways to prevent violence. Plain Language Summary: Female Sex Workers (FSW) in sub-Saharan Africa face multiple challenges including challenges linked to access to health care services, particularly sexual and reproductive health services and issues related to violence. However, few studies in Togo have explored sexual and reproductive health and violence among FSW. We used a cross-sectional study design to describe the use of sexual and reproductive health services by FSW in Togo and to document their experience of violence. A total of 130 FSW reported a gynecological consultation in the previous year, 42.7% had STI symptoms and 60.7% of them consulted a health care professional for those symptoms. We also found that 179 FSW ever had an unintended pregnancy and among them 67% ever had an abortion. Almost all FSW reported the use of condoms as their main contraception method, however 87.7% of FSW used condoms consistently with their clients. The majority of FSW reported ever being victim of physical, sexual or emotional violence. FSW with a history of abortion, with a high number of clients per week (> 15), and living in the capital city were more likely to have experience of violence. Those results would be helpful as a basis to advocate for a greater access of FSW to SRH services as part of their package of HIV prevention, care and treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: People living in precarious socio-economic conditions are at greater risk of developing mental and physical health disorders, and of having complex needs. This places them at risk of health inequity. Addressing social determinants of health (SDH) can contribute to reducing this inequity. Case management in primary care is an integrated care approach which could be an opportunity to better address SDH. The aim of this study is to better understand how case management in primary care may address the SDH of people with complex needs. Methods: A case management program (CMP) for people with complex needs was implemented in four urban primary care clinics. A qualitative study was conducted with semi-structured interviews and a focus group with key informants (n = 24). An inductive thematic analysis was carried out to identify emerging themes. Results: Primary care case managers were well-positioned to provide a holistic evaluation of the person's situation, to develop trust with them, and to act as their advocates. These actions helped case managers to better address individuals' unmet social needs (e.g., poor housing, social isolation, difficulty affording transportation, food, medication, etc.). Creating partnerships with the community (e.g., streetworkers) improved the capacity in assisting people with housing relocation, access to transportation, and access to care. Assuming people provide their consent, involving a significant relative or member of their community in an individualized services plan could support people in addressing their social needs. Conclusions: Case management in primary care may better address SDH and improve health equity by developing a trusting relationship with people with complex needs, improving interdisciplinary and intersectoral collaboration and social support. Aim: Identify the skills and knowledge future nurse and midwife leaders might require in the next 6 years. Design/methodology/approach: An online questionnaire elicited health professionals' perspectives on the future requirements for nurse and midwife leaders. Qualitative data were generated in response on health care and the likely leadership skills for the future. Data were extracted and analysed using qualitative content analysis. Findings: Four generic categories were abstracted from the core category 'Nursing and Midwifery Leadership'. These were values/traits; creating positive healthcare cultures; digital capability/competence; and systems thinking. Limitations/implications. This first stage evaluation has gained a wide variety of perspectives regarding the perceived skills and knowledge future nurse and midwife leaders might need. This is important to enable those who deliver leadership development programmes to plan appropriately, ensuring their programmes are designed and adjusted in response to the needs of a shifting health and care landscape. However, over 50% of respondents were White, so the data may not be representative of the diversity of registered nurses and midwives. Recent shifts in nursing education towards generic proficiencies pose challenges to the unique demands of mental health nursing education. Student mental health nurses at the authors' higher education institution (HEI) have provided service feedback that has expressed the difficulties they have encountered. This article examines the issues faced by students, assessors and educators in interpreting and applying the proficiency standards set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Addressing the complexities of mental health nursing education, as well as the barriers to learning and attainment, requires a collaborative effort and innovative solutions if HEIs are to successfully prepare future mental health nurses to meet the evolving demands of their role. The proposed solution is a 'Proficiency Directory', which provides structured resources for mental health nursing students to align learning experiences with assessment criteria, facilitating a more comprehensive and meaningful learning journey. Background: Hypertension (HTN) is a major global health concern, affecting approximately 1.28 billion adults worldwide. In Rwanda, hypertension contribute to 2.81 of the disability adjusted life years (DALYs) and 1.87% of hypertensive heart disease mortality. Traditional medicine remains popular in Africa with some herbal remedies which have shown antihypertensive properties. However, no study was done to explore traditional Practitioners' approach to hypertension in Rwanda. Objective: To explore the experience of traditional Practitioners while managing hypertension in Rwanda. Methodology: This qualitative study utilized an ethnographic approach to explore the experience of traditional Practitioners (TPs) while managing HTN in Rwanda. Semi- structure interviews were conducted with 20 traditional Practitioners from three districts known for their popular use of traditional medicine in Rwanda. Participants were purposively selected, and interviews were guided by a pretested semi-structured interview guide in local language. Thematic analysis was used to generate the key themes. Results: Three main themes emerged from analysis: first, traditional medicine is often undervalued by modern medical providers, resulting in limited collaboration and communication between traditional Practitioners and modern medical providers. Despite this, TPs are trusted by the community, often receiving referrals from patients dissatisfied with modern treatment. Second, TPs face challenges in diagnosing HTN due to lack of diagnostic tools, often relying on their observation, patients' description of symptoms and patient's response to treatment. TPs expressed desire for collaboration with modern medicine and access to diagnostic tools. Third, lack of legal framework and standardized practices for traditional medicine remains a challenge. Conclusion: The study highlights the need to promote collaboration between traditional and modern medicine in Rwanda. To enhance HTN management, we recommend training of traditional Practitioners, setting standardized practice and legal framework to guide traditional Practitioners in Rwanda as well as improving their access to HTN diagnostic tools. Background: The challenges associated with ensuring widespread system changes to enable early diagnosis and prevention of oral cancer could benefit from interprofessional practice. A needs assessment study was conducted to inform the Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice (IPECP) course related to oral cancer. The primary objectives of this study were 1) to establish a tool assess the knowledge attitude and practice (KAP) related to prevention and early detection of oral cancer of health professional students, and 2) to assess the same KAP of pre-licensure dental students. Additional objectives were to consider the possibility that dental students would demonstrate good scores related to early detection and prevention of oral cancer thus indicating their readiness for interprofessional learning and collaborative practice. Methods: Two questionnaires were utilized for this study which included 1) Readiness for interprofessional learning was assessed using the pre- validated tool of Readiness for Interprofessional Learning Scale (RIPLS) 2) A questionnaire to assess the KAP related to early diagnosis and prevention of oral cancer which was developed, validated, and evaluated. Statistical analysis includes, descriptive statistics, Mann–Whitney U test, Ordered logistic regression and Probit analysis. p value was set at < 0.05. Results: A total of 130 dental students (74.6% female) were included in the study. Mean scores related to KAP were 15.96 ± 1.394, 4.70 + 1.146, 7.02 ± 1.019 respectively. The mean score of RIPLS was 73.15 ± 15.961. The probability of overall samples to have good RIPLS scores was around 0.68 to 0.76 (Male 0.68—0.82 & Female 0.68 -0.74). The percentage of students having good knowledge score was 93.8%, good attitude score was around 54.6% and good practice score was around 90%. Conclusion: Knowledge and practice related to prevention and early detection of oral cancer were scored highly. Attitude scores were lower in a relatively higher proportion of participants and needed to be addressed in the curriculum. Background: A number of patients have complex care needs that arise from interactions among multiple factors, such as multimorbidity, mental health issues, and social vulnerability. These factors influence decisions about healthcare and health services. Shared decision-making (SDM), a collaborative process between patients and professionals, is known to improve the quality of the decision-making process. However, follow-up challenges of patients with complex care needs (PCCNs) can lead to SDM specificities. Objective: To identify specificities of SDM with PCCNs. Methods: We conducted a scoping review using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology. We conducted a systematic search across MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and Academic Search Complete databases. Empirical studies about SDM with PCCNs published between 1997 and 2023 were eligible for inclusion. We conducted a mixed thematic analysis using deductive (Ottawa Decision Support Framework and Interprofessional Shared Decision-Making Model) and inductive approaches. Following Arksey & O'Malley's and Levac et al.'s methodological recommendations, we consulted experts (researchers, healthcare professionals, and patient partners) to enhance the findings. Results: Twelve studies were included in the review. Overall, our results demonstrated the importance of recognizing some specificities of SDM with PCCNs, such as the simultaneous presence of multiple decisions and the multidisciplinary and intersectoral nature of the healthcare and health services they receive. Conclusion: This scoping review highlights some specificities that must be considered in SDM with PCCNs to maintain its already-known benefits and ensure positive health and decision-making outcomes. Background: Smoking is a significant global public health concern, presenting substantial risks to individuals' health. Smoking cessation is essential for improving patients' well-being, and nurses play a critical role in assisting patients to quit smoking. However, there is a lack of research on nurses' specialized roles in smoking cessation interventions for patients. Objective: To define the specific responsibilities of nurses in facilitating smoking cessation among patients, and provide guidance for future nursing interventions in smoking cessation. Methods: The scoping review process was conducted for Arksey and O'Malley's framework. Based on the three-step search strategy of Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI), a comprehensive search was performed across ten databases including PubMed, CINAHL, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, OVID, PsycINFO, CNKI, Wan Fang Data Knowledge Service Platform, and VIP Database for Chinese Technical Periodicals, covering studies from the inception of the databases to February 2024. The inclusion and exclusion criteria were developed using the JBI (participants, content, and context) principle. Randomized controlled trials or quasi-experimental studies with nurse-led or involved smoking cessation interventions for patients were included. Data extraction was conducted independently by two reviewers. The findings were reported following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR). Results: In total, 53 studies were eligible for the final charting and synthesis. The analysis identified six key roles that nurses played in smoking cessation interventions: assessors, educators, practice facilitators, coordinating collaborators, organizers, and supervisors. Among these, the roles of assessors, educators, and practice facilitators were the most commonly reported. The motivation interview and 5A method were the predominant techniques employed for smoking cessation. Nurses primarily promoted smoking cessation through the distribution of pamphlets, face-to-face education, and the provision of smoking cessation guidance. The primary participants in these studies were patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Conclusions: Nurses play an indispensable role in smoking cessation interventions, occupying multiple critical roles. However, this review identified a gap in the pre-intervention training of nurses, indicating a need for enhanced training programs to better prepare nurses for effective smoking cessation interventions. Background: One of the fundamental pillars of integrating a palliative approach in nursing home care is increasing professional competencies and institutional capacity. However, conventional training designs have been proven to fall short of supporting this integration. This paper details the results of a practice development intervention that used critical companionship as a learning design to facilitate the integration of a palliative approach in the care of nursing home residents in France. Objectives: This study aimed to explore the perceived outcomes of Padi-Palli critical companionship in supporting the integration of a palliative approach in the care of residents in nursing homes in France. Design: Qualitative multiple case study situated within a constructivist theoretic lens. Methods: This qualitative multiple case study is part of a larger interventional mixed-method study. Nurses with palliative care clinical expertise facilitated experiential learning with nursing home professionals for 10 months spread across three phases. At the end of the intervention, a purposive sampling method was used to select professionals from six nursing homes that participated, including leaders and critical companions. Focus groups and individual interviews were used to collect data between February 2023 and March 2024. Data analysis followed Braun and Clarke's reflexive thematic analysis. Results: Four interrelated themes explained how Padi-Palli critical companionship enhanced the palliative care competencies of professionals, improved nursing home palliative care practices, supported organisational practices for palliative care and facilitated collaborative learning at the bedside. The collaborative and co-creative principles that informed the delivery of the Padi-Palli critical companionship program facilitated a culture shift towards integrating a palliative approach in resident care at individual, team and organisational levels. Conclusion: Critical companionship offers an innovative practice development approach that can support the delivery of timely palliative care for residents in nursing homes. Background: Nurses play an essential role as frontline caregivers, particularly in recognizing and responding to patient deterioration. This study addresses nurses' self-leadership in the face of challenging situations such as patient deterioration, emphasizing the importance of self-leadership skills in navigating complex patient care scenarios. Delayed recognition of subtle changes in patient's conditions has been linked to adverse outcomes, necessitating a closer examination of the role of self-leadership in nursing practice. Objective: The objective of this research was to explore and understand the implications of self-leadership among nurses when confronted with challenging situations, specifically focusing on patient deterioration. Methods: A qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive research design was employed, utilizing focus group discussions (FGDs) with nurses from a private hospital in Pretoria, South Africa. Semistructured interview guide facilitated the FGDs, and data saturation was achieved after the eight sessions. The sample included nurses with various qualifications and shifts, offering diverse perspectives on self-leadership in patient care. Rigorous data collection and trustworthiness measures, including member checking and verbatim transcriptions, were employed to enhance the conformability of the study. Results: The findings revealed six overarching themes and 15 subthemes, demonstrating the interconnectedness of self-leadership and nursing practice. Themes included responsibility and autonomy, compassion and care, support and collaboration, learning from experience, teamwork, and appreciation and recognition. These themes explained how nurses actively engaged in self-observation, constructive thought patterns, and natural reward strategies to proactively address patient deterioration. Conclusion: The study underlines the significance of integrating self-leadership principles into nursing practice. Aims: Digital health transformation may enhance or impede person‐centred care and interprofessional practice, and thus the provision of high‐quality rehabilitation and nutrition services. We aimed to understand how different elements and factors within existing digital nutrition and health systems in subacute rehabilitation units influence person‐centred and/or interprofessional nutrition and mealtime care practices through the lens of complexity science. Methods: Our ethnographic study was completed through an interpretivist paradigm. Data were collected from observation and interviews with patients, support persons and staff. Overall, 58 h of ethnographic field work led to observing 125 participants and interviewing 77 participants, totalling 165 unique participants. We used reflexive thematic analysis to analyse the data with consideration of complexity science. Results: We developed four themes: (1) the interplay of local context and technology use in nutrition care systems; (2) digitalisation affects staff participation in nutrition and mealtime care; (3) embracing technology to support nutrition and food service flexibility; and (4) the (in)visibility of digitally enabled nutrition care systems. Conclusions: While digital systems enhance the visibility and flexibility of nutrition care systems in some instances, they may also reduce the ability to customise nutrition and mealtime care and lead to siloing of nutrition‐related activities. Our findings highlight that the introduction of digital systems alone may be insufficient to enable interprofessional practice and person‐centred care within nutrition and mealtime care and thus should be accompanied by local processes and workflows to maximise digital potential. The demand for mental health treatment on university campuses continues to increase. This report will outline sources of increased demand and how traditional campus-based models have managed it. It will then describe the University of Southern California's work mobilizing resources to develop a unique model for insurance based long-term care emphasizing the importance of collaboration between long-term and short-term resources. Objective: We describe and analyze case investigation and contact tracing (CICT) efforts across Ohio's public universities in response to COVID-19 to distill challenges and lessons learned and suggest future opportunities for universities to mobilize in the face of emergent public health crises. Participants: Faculty, staff, and graduate students from Ohio's fourteen public universities. Methods: In-depth, semi-structured interviews were conducted with representatives from nine of the 14 universities; representatives from the remaining five universities completed a brief questionnaire. Interviews were transcribed in their entirety and thematically analyzed. Results: Emergent themes include the significance of local relationships for implementing locally tailored solutions; the presence of discrete challenges in doing CICT work with university and local communities, and the importance of university students in pandemic response. Conclusions: There are unique challenges associated with disease control across university populations and surrounding communities, but students from diverse academic background are a potential source of assistance. As the world evolves, human-AI teams (HAT) have become increasingly more capable in their ability to complete task objectives. Due to this rising importance, it has become essential to understand the interpersonal dynamism between humans and AI to further optimise their performance potential. Given the demonstrated utility of emotional communication within human-human team structures, this research investigates the nature of AI-sourced positive emotions on human teammates. Through 47 interviews, our findings show that for these AI teammates to be accepted, human teammates have preferences on understanding the emotional utility prior to its presentation, as well as which emotions are situationally acceptable. Also, findings show that integrating emotions within AI teammates has a positive influence on human perceptions and behaviour in a task. In further detail, emotions act as status updates that allow human teammates to not only better understand their teammates' mental states but also understand how their AI teammates perceive the situation around them. Together, this gives insight into how AI emotional expressions influence the perception of social support on the wider Human-AI team. Professional standards identify what future educators should know and be able to do when they complete a program of study from an Institution of Higher Education (IHE). With support from the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), the first ever stand-alone Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education (EI/ECSE) Standards were approved in 2020. In this paper, we (a) discuss the rationale for stand-alone EI/ECSE Standards within the current context; (b) briefly introduce the Standards; (c) present an overview of how the Standards were developed; and (d) provide a vision for and guidance to the field in the development of personnel systems that ensure application of the EI/ECSE Standards for preservice and in-service preparation, IHE program accreditation, cross-disciplinary collaboration, research and development, and policy and advocacy. This article reflects upon an international collaboration between supervision experts from South Africa, Hong Kong and New Zealand with the Singapore Association of Social Workers. This collaboration was focused on developing the supervision of supervisory practice. An overview of social work supervision in Singapore is discussed, followed by the process of developing the programme content, delivering training and providing consultation on creating a curriculum. The outcomes include supervision guidelines, curriculum development and further cross-national collaborations. The article concludes by discussing the learning from this international collaboration. Since their inception in 1975, the Department of Veterans Affairs Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Centers (GRECCs) have served as incubators of innovation in geriatrics. Their contributions to the VA mission were last reviewed in 2012. Herein, we describe the continuing impact of GRECCs in research, clinical, and educational areas, focusing on the period between 2018 and 2022. GRECC research spans the continuum from bench to bedside, with a growing research portfolio notable for highly influential publications. GRECC education connects healthcare professions trainees and practicing clinicians, as well as Veterans and their caregivers, to engaging learning experiences. Clinical advancements, including age‐friendly care, span the continuum of care and leverage technology to link disparate geographical sites. GRECCs are uniquely positioned to serve older adults given their alignment with the largest integrated health system in the United States and their integration with academic health centers. As such, the GRECCs honor Veterans as they age by building VA capacity to care for the increasing number of aging Veterans seeking care from VA. GRECC advancements also benefit non‐VA healthcare systems, their academic affiliates, and non‐Veteran older adults. Objectives: While early diagnosis is fundamental to the development of children with developmental disabilities (DD), limited attention has been paid to immigrant parents' experience of early encounters with systems when they begin seeking supports for their children with DD. This study aimed to contribute to better understanding of immigrant parents' experiences of early encounters with services for families and children with suspected or diagnosed DD. Design: A longitudinal, qualitative approach was adopted. Over 12 months, multiple interviews were conducted with four immigrant families with children aged between two and four years who were attending a mobile playgroup offering early learning supports for children with suspected or diagnosed DD in communities with low access to formal supports. During the first three months of the study, families were accompanied by the first author on weekly visits to the playgroup. Participant observations and informal discussions with staff delivering early intervention supports via the playgroup provided further insight into families' initial and on-going encounters with services and supports. During the remaining nine months, multiple interviews were conducted with participating families, to document their on-going experiences and encounters with medical practitioners and therapists. Results: Thematic analysis of data generated four key themes: Initial encounters with medical professionals, Confusion and 'missed' diagnosis, Gaps in understanding, collaboration and communication, and Families' desire to learn and implement strategies. Conclusion: Families made concerted efforts to locate appropriate supports. They also faced barriers including a lack of openness and genuine consultation, particularly in their encounters with health professionals. These barriers resulted in a level of mistrust and detachment from formalised supports. Results highlight the critical importance for health professionals of 'tuning into' family concerns through relationship-based approaches, in order to establish shared understanding and mutual respect between professionals and families, particularly for immigrant families seeking support for their young children. Objectives: Despite cervical cancer (CC) being a preventable disease, its incidence remains high in marginalized communities due to inequalities that restrict access to health services. This article investigates the experiences, perceptions, and attitudes regarding the screening of indigenous women in a region of the Colombian Amazon during a cervical cancer prevention initiative facilitated by community participation. Design: Qualitative study based on interviews conducted with women and indigenous leaders from Paujil reserve. They participated in research focused on cervical cancer prevention, which employed a methodology of collaboration between academia and communities aimed at enhancing women's health and reducing inequalities in access to healthcare services. The analysis utilized a deductive and inductive approach. Results: Five main themes were addressed: 'Barriers within health services'; 'Individual and cultural constraints'; 'Motivations and facilitators'; 'Positive experiences within the research framework'; and 'Suggestions for encouraging women's participation.' Challenges related to appointment scheduling and result delivery were frequently cited as obstacles to access. Misinformation, feelings of shame, fear, and distrust towards health services played significant roles in the reluctance to undergo screening. Factors such as support from family and community networks, respectful treatment, ease of scheduling appointments, the presence of female healthcare professionals, and involvement of leaders fluent in indigenous languages were identified as positive facilitators of screening acceptance. Conclusion: Understanding the factors that influence access to screening is crucial for reducing inequalities in service delivery for indigenous women. The involvement of trained leaders who can identify these factors and motivate women can have a positive impact on the acceptance and guidance of cervical cancer prevention programs. With the rapidly growing availability of scalable psychological assessments, personality science holds great promise for the scientific study and applied use of customized behavior-change interventions. To facilitate this development, we propose a classification system that divides psychological targeting into two approaches that differ in the process by which interventions are designed: audience-to-content matching or content-to-audience matching. This system is both integrative and generative: It allows us to (a) integrate existing research on personalized interventions from different psychological subdisciplines (e.g., political, educational, organizational, consumer, and clinical and health psychology) and to (b) articulate open questions that generate promising new avenues for future research. Our objective is to infuse personality science into intervention research and encourage cross-disciplinary collaborations within and outside of psychology. To ensure the development of personality-customized interventions aligns with the broader interests of individuals (and society at large), we also address important ethical considerations for the use of psychological targeting (e.g., privacy, self-determination, and equity) and offer concrete guidelines for researchers and practitioners. Background and Objectives The lack of psychotherapy in nursing homes can be explained by organizational obstacles but also by practitioners' reservations about this patient group and setting. This study aimed to inform practice by qualitatively exploring the experiences of psychotherapists delivering cognitive behavioral therapy to residents of nursing homes diagnosed with depression. Research Design and Methods Semistructured interviews with 6 psychotherapists, who had delivered treatment within the DAVOS project (Depression in the nursing home: a cluster-randomized stepped-wedge collaborative case management approach to improve treatment) were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using a deductive–inductive content analysis. Results Therapists experienced various difficulties, including practical (e.g. multiprofessional collaboration) and existential issues (e.g. confrontation with their own mortality). Participants described correcting some stereotypical images of older people (in need of care) through their work within the DAVOS project. However, evidence of ageism was still included in their reports. In the interviews, psychotherapists more experienced with older patients addressed more existential issues, whereas more novice therapists tended to focus more on practical difficulties. Discussion and Implications To ensure a more effective implementation of psychotherapeutic treatment in nursing homes, it appears necessary to address important contextual factors that facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration, interference-free treatment rooms, and tele-assisted sessions. Further, more setting-specific training, targeted supervision regarding death and suicide, and interventions that address stereotypical images of age and older people in residential care are needed. Background Despite the increased availability of evidence-based treatments for chronic pain, many patients in rural areas experience poor access to services. Patients receiving care through the VA may also need to navigate multiple systems of care. Objective To examine the effectiveness of a remotely delivered collaborative care intervention for improving pain interference among veterans with high-impact chronic pain living in rural areas. Design We will conduct a four-site pragmatic effectiveness trial of remotely delivered collaborative care for high-impact chronic pain. Participants (n  = 608) will be randomized to the Tele-Collaborative Outreach to Rural Patients (CORPs) intervention or to minimally enhanced usual care (MEUC). Participants randomized to CORPs will complete a biopsychosocial assessment and five follow-up sessions with a nurse care manager (NCM), who will collaborate with a consulting clinician to provide personalized recommendations and care management. CORP participants will also be invited to a virtual 6-session pain education group class. Participants randomized to MEUC will receive a one-time education session with the NCM to review available pain services. All participants will complete quarterly research assessments for one year. The primary study outcome is pain interference. This trial will oversample veterans of female birth sex and minoritized race or ethnicity to test heterogeneity of treatment effects across these patient characteristics. We will conduct an implementation process evaluation and incremental cost-effectiveness analysis. Discussion This pragmatic trial will test the real-world effectiveness of a remotely delivered collaborative care intervention for chronic pain. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression is widely used for large-scale propensity score (PS) estimation in health-care database studies. In these settings, previous work has shown that undersmoothing (overfitting) LASSO PS models can improve confounding control, but it can also cause problems of nonoverlap in covariate distributions. It remains unclear how to select the degree of undersmoothing when fitting large-scale LASSO PS models to improve confounding control while avoiding issues that can result from reduced covariate overlap. Here, we used simulations to evaluate the performance of using collaborative-controlled targeted learning to data-adaptively select the degree of undersmoothing when fitting large-scale PS models within both singly and doubly robust frameworks to reduce bias in causal estimators. Simulations showed that collaborative learning can data-adaptively select the degree of undersmoothing to reduce bias in estimated treatment effects. Results further showed that when fitting undersmoothed LASSO PS models, the use of cross-fitting was important for avoiding nonoverlap in covariate distributions and reducing bias in causal estimates. Topics discussed include principles of patient-oriented research, significance of the parents lived exprience to presentations, and impact of the collaborative effort.

The changing field of academic medicine presents unique challenges for physician-- scientists, who intricately weave the complexities of research and patient care. These challenges have significantly lengthened the time needed for scientific discoveries to be applied in clinical practice. In response to these escalating demands, the training trajectory for physician--scientists has notably expanded over recent decades. In anticipation of and preparation for future training requirements, the National Pediatrician-Scientist Collaborative Workgroup facilitated a series of convenings with a diverse array of stakeholders vested in physician--scientist training. The framework Strategic Foresight was used to explore possible future scenarios and develop strategic plans. Seven pivotal themes, termed "performance zones," emerged from this endeavor: (1) revolution in education through technology-enhanced learning, (2) educational outcomes beyond content mastery, (3) artificial intelligence-empowered research portfolios and expansive networks, (4) evolution of high-performance inclusive, equitable, distributed, and agile teams, (5) evolution of antifragile systems, (6) a multiparadigmatic program of research, and (7) interdependence and commitments to a common agenda for collective impact. These identified zones underscore the imperative for physician--scientists to acquire novel skill sets essential for navigating the impending shifts in the health care landscape. Partnerships that effectively engage in certain key structural and process functions are more likely to meet their research goals and contribute to longer-term health equity outcomes. Ongoing evaluation of partnerships' level of achievement of these key functions, along with their fidelity to the guiding principles of community-based participatory research (CBPR), is therefore essential to understand how they can achieve desired partnership outcomes. This article describes the validated Measurement Approaches to Partnership Success (MAPS) Questionnaire and the use of an accompanying Facilitation Guide in helping members of CBPR partnerships evaluate their partnership's state of development and interpret findings to improve its structure, processes, and outcomes. We describe the conceptual framework guiding the development of the MAPS Questionnaire and its 81-item across seven key outcome dimensions, along with 28 items measuring precursor characteristics of CBPR partnership outcomes. The Facilitation Guide provides general guidelines for sharing, interpreting, and applying results within partnerships using a participatory process, definitions and items for each dimension, an example of presenting summary means, and dimension-specific reflective questions for discussion. We offer recommendations for practical uses of the MAPS Questionnaire and Facilitation Guide. Whether used as a comprehensive tool or by dimension, the MAPS Questionnaire is conceptually sound and empirically validated for evaluating how CBPR partnerships can achieve long-standing success. CBPR partnerships at any stage of development will find the MAPS Questionnaire and Facilitation Guide useful in measuring and interpreting indicators of partnership success, sharing results, and improving their ability to contribute to achieving health equity goals. Background. By 2023, 1,080,000 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Harris County. Systemic inequity and vaccine hesitancy have contributed to COVID-19 disparities. Community Health Workers provide health education and instrumental support to alleviate health disparities among vulnerable communities. We conducted an analysis of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis in June 2022 among a broad coalition of Community Health Work stakeholders to better understand the local landscape in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods. We recruited 33 community health workers and industry stakeholders in Harris County, Texas, to participate in the SWOT analysis. Participants were asked to describe their opinions on the SWOT facing the Community Health Work landscape and then rank the outcomes of the analysis to prioritize action. Results. A total of 19 themes were identified. Weaknesses included lack of respect and resources for Community Health Workers and poor coordination and capacity among the workforce infrastructure. Limited funding and lack of appreciation for Community Health Workers were deemed important threats. Diversity and community connection were critical strengths, and strong education, training, and raising awareness for community health work were considered opportunities to overcome identified weaknesses and threats. Discussion. Increased funding, greater coordination, greater respect, and amplified training can improve capacity for Community Health Workers and, therefore, improve public health outcomes for respiratory illness and viral infections such as COVID-19. Laundromats are a regularly visited, highly localized community venue, especially in underserved communities. Few health literacy and health-promotion programs have taken place in laundromats, and there have been no efforts to apply community-based participatory research approaches in this setting. Literacy programs and cancer-prevention initiatives have been held in laundromats, but little data exist on the empirical outcomes of such initiatives or whether the programs have been fashioned as a collaboration between community and researchers. In this paper, we present a brief overview of literacy and cancer-prevention initiatives that have taken place in laundromats and introduce our Wash and Spin Toward Health/Washington Avanzando la Salud Hispana (W.A.S.H.) project. We describe how we applied community-based participatory research principles to launch this effort and identify both benefits and challenges of this approach. We hope this project will stimulate greater interest in laundromat settings for outreach and education efforts, especially those addressing disparities in health literacy and access. In December 2020, 11 months after identifying the first laboratory-confirmed case of COVID-19 in the United States, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized emergency use of two COVID-19 vaccines. To prepare the public for a large-scale vaccination campaign and build confidence in COVID-19 vaccines, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funded more than 200 partners and developed a national Vaccinate with Confidence (VwC) COVID-19 framework to support Americans in their decision to get vaccinated. The evolving nature of the pandemic and highly variable confidence in vaccines across populations has resulted in many unique complexities and challenges to reaching universally high vaccination coverage. Here, we describe how 23 professional health associations and national partner organizations, focused solely on building vaccine confidence, operationalized CDC's VwC COVID-19 framework from February 2021 to March 2022. Capturing how partners deployed and adapted their activities to meet a shifting pandemic landscape, which began with high demand for vaccines that waned over time, is an important first step to understanding how this new strategy was utilized and could be implemented for future surges in COVID-19 cases and other routine immunization efforts. Background.: Community-led health care interventions may be an effective way to tackle cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors, especially in materially deprived communities where health care resources are stretched and engagement with institutions is often low. To do so effectively and equitably, interventions might be developed alongside community members through community engagement. Objectives.: The aim of this project was to carry out stakeholder mapping and partnership identification and to understand the views, needs, experiences of community members who would be involved in later stages of a community-based CVD prevention intervention's development and implementation. Methods.: Stakeholder mapping was carried out to identify research participants in three communities in Sussex, United Kingdom. A qualitative descriptive approach was taken during the analysis of focus groups and interviews with 47 participants. Findings.: Three themes were highlighted related to intervention design (a) Management: the suitability of the intervention for the community, management of volunteers, and communication; (b) Logistics: the structure and design of the intervention; and (c) Sociocultural issues, the social and cultural expectations/experiences of participants and implementers. Conclusions.: Study participants were open and willing to engage in the planned community-based intervention, particularly in elements of co-design and community-led delivery. They also highlighted the importance of sociocultural factors. Based on the findings, we developed recommendations for intervention design which included (but were not limited to): (a) a focus on a bottom-up approach to intervention design, (b) the recruitment of skilled local volunteers, and (c) the importance of fun and simplicity. Background: Maternal mortality is a global clinical and public health crisis. Researchers and leading organizations have highlighted the need for local partnerships to implement evidence-based strategies to mitigate poor outcomes. Alabama has the third highest maternal mortality rate in the nation. Research on the complexity of maternity mortality is strengthening, but poor outcomes in Alabama persist and there is limited data highlighting the perspectives of those on the frontlines of providing and receiving care. Purpose: We conducted a qualitative, statewide, community-informed, maternal and infant health research assessment with physicians, providers, professionals, and birthing persons to identify challenges and solutions to addressing the states' poor perinatal health outcomes. Methods: Data were collected using a four-phase, research design that included semi-structured interviews, focus groups, one state-wide data sharing event, and five regional data sharing events. Data were collected between January 2020 and October 2021. The data were analyzed using consensus coding and thematic analysis. Main Findings: Fifty-nine (N = 59) individuals participated. Three themes emerged: 1) "They were making me feel so overlooked.": A disconnect between perinatal healthcare services and patient needs; 2) "That shouldn't be something you have to ask for.": Limitations to providing respectful perinatal healthcare; and 3) "If they work together, they can have all the tools they need.": Building a case for collaborative care. Conclusions: Participants advocated for a collaborative perinatal healthcare model that focuses on the provision of respectful, quality perinatal healthcare. Our approach can be applied across contexts and used to support the effective implementation of contextually relevant maternity care practices. Significance: Evidence-based perinatal healthcare practices facilitate maternal and infant wellbeing; however, they are often underutilized. Community-based assessments are critical to understanding the landscape of perinatal healthcare and the priorities of those most affected within a specific context. These perspectives are critical to the development of effective evidence-based interventions. This study is the first qualitative assessment of maternal and infant healthcare research needs assessment in Alabama. We describe how perceptions and practices of care, based on the experiences of practitioners and birthing persons, are driven by health system limitations.
