The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between early childhood teacher candidates' empathic tendencies and social problem-solving skills. A total of 187 teacher candidates studying in the department of Early Childhood Education at Duzce University participated in this study. The relational research model, a quantitative research method, was used. The data of this study were collected through a personal information form, the Empathic Tendency Scale, and the Social Problem-Solving Inventory (SPÇE-SF). The researchers analyzed the data using Pearson Correlation and one-way ANOVA with the SPSS program. According to the findings of the study, the empathic tendency levels and social problem-solving skills of the early childhood teacher candidates participating in the research are at moderate levels. In addition, there was a moderate positive relationship between participants' empathic tendencies and social problem-solving skills. Finally, it is seen that the empathic tendencies of the participants do not differ according to personal data such as gender, educational level, mother's and father's educational level, family type, family attitude, number of siblings, and birth order. The participants' social problems-solving skills differed only by gender and number of siblings.

Articulating clear and achievable expectations is fundamental to both education and organizational management. In this article, we provide a simple intervention for clarifying expectations--and establishing that these expectations have been understood--which proved beneficial both to community college interns and to their internship mentors in biotech-related undergraduate research experiences. Internship mentors were asked to utilize a simple Expectation Clarity Tool to outline the expectations, success metrics, baseline assessments, and training strategy and support that would be foundational to their intern's project. These included expectations around conceptual, technical, performance, and professional skills and behaviors. Concurrently, but independently, community college interns were asked to complete the same type of exercise as a way of identifying gaps in their knowledge and understanding of their mentor's expectations and their internship project. The mentor's completed Expectation Clarity Tool was then shared with their intern. As a result of completing this relatively simple intervention, the majority of mentors reported that it increased their confidence as a mentor, taught them a new mentoring skill, changed how they will mentor trainees moving forward, and positively impacted their relationship with their trainee. On the intern side, the majority of interns reported that engaging in this intervention, both as an independent exercise and in obtaining their mentor's completed Expectation Clarity Tool, increased their confidence as an intern and positively impacted the success of their internship.

The focus of this study is to investigate the effects of using Web 2.0 tools in the social studies "Global Connections" learning area on students' digital literacy levels. A quasi-experimental model was used and 38, seventh graders participated the research. The digital literacy scale, created by Ng (2012) and translated into Turkish by Hamutoglu, Güngören, Kaya-Uyanik, and Gür-Erdogan (2017) was employed for data collection. Pre-testing was carried out using the digital literacy test. Courses were imparted according to the current curriculum in the control group and through Web 2.0 tools to the experimental throughout the application. For the experimental group, WordArt, StoryJumper, Canva, YouTube and Renderforest were used in the teaching of learning outcomes, along with Edmodo, which also allowed students interacting with teacher and among themselves outside the classroom. Then a digital literacy test was administered as a post-test. Ultimately, it was determined that the experimental group's digital literacy skills differed statistically significantly from the control group. It is thought that this research, which is limited to the seventh grade "Global Connections" learning area, should be conducted at different learning areas, levels and results should be evaluated.

This study aims to assess and examine secondary school teachers' perceptions of school climate and job satisfaction in five diverse countries: Japan, Korea, Finland, the United States of America (USA), and Australia. It explores the impact of school climate on teachers' job satisfaction, a pivotal factor influencing teacher retention, mobility, and professional development. In order to improve teachers' skills and abilities in the classroom, improving teachers' job satisfaction and understanding the factors that influence it is highly critical. Utilizing secondary data from the Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) 2018, this study provides valuable insights. The findings reveal that teachers in all five countries generally hold positive perceptions of school climates and report high job satisfaction. However, teachers in Japan and Korea express comparatively lower job satisfaction levels when contrasted with their counterparts in Finland, the USA, and Australia. Furthermore, their perceptions of school climate also rank lower. Consequently, this study concludes that a positive correlation exists between favorable perceptions of school climate and elevated job satisfaction. This assertion is supported by regression analyses, individual country data, and aggregate data from all five countries.

Learning is an integral part of being human. How people learn has long been discussed, revealed in many learning theories, investigated in numerous studies, and demonstrated in extensive practices. The goal of this article is to rethink how people learn from four fundamental perspectives, that is, learning by interaction with content (C), learning by interaction with other people (O), learning by interaction with self (S), and learning by interaction with tasks or practices (T), so-called COST model. This framework offers a high-level view of human learning and the role of technology in human learning. Moreover, it serves as a guide for effective design of learning experiences, learning environments, and learning approaches, where technology has become a crucial component.

This paper is focused on the development of a didactic proposal for English students in the Basque Country. Specifically for students in the 1st year of "Bachillerato" with Spanish and Basque as their L1 and English as their L2 which aims to improve their communication skills, especially oral abilities and pronunciation, through the use of didactic dubbing. This proposal is framed within a project-based learning (PBL), in which the final project is the creation of a vertical video dubbed in English. For this purpose, six sessions have been designed with different group activities that will culminate with the presentation of the video. This didactic unit revolves around social networks and seeks to meet the requirements of current regulations in terms of objectives, contents, competences and evaluation criteria. In addition, transversal elements such as the appropriate use of social networks, fears or interpersonal relationships are worked on. The use of videos in vertical format meets the increasing demand for creating content in this format that adapts to the new mobile devices.

Factors influencing intrapersonal and interpersonal abuse, neglect, and quality of life have not received much attention from scholars. Few studies on intrapersonal and interpersonal abuse and neglect have focused on employees in organisations without addressing the problem from children or students' points of view. In light of this knowledge, the current study used a socio-ecological perspective to illustrate the factors that influence both intrapersonal and interpersonal abuse and neglect. These factors can be attributed to family structure, individual factors, macrosystem factors, contextual factors, quality of life, and emotional abuse.

The study investigated the promotion of academic relationship leadership practice and productivity of lecturers in public universities in Delta and Edo states, Nigeria. Adopting an ex-post-facto design, it encompassed a population of 3,492 academic staff in four government-owned universities located in Delta and Edo States, Nigeria. A sample of 676 academic staff was selected through stratified random sampling techniques. The primary data collection instrument was a questionnaire with a high reliability coefficient of 0.97 achieved through the split-half method. The data obtained from the questionnaire were analyzed using correlation analysis. The findings revealed the existence of a positive and significant relationship between academic relationship leadership practice and the productivity of lecturers. Based on this result, the study recommended that academic leaders should create a friendly and warm environment that will engender and enhance the promotion of academic relationships to positively affect the productivity of academics.

Higher education students need help and support to enable them to cope with the challenges of their studies. The aim of this study was to investigate the perspectives of first-year undergraduate students on predictors of psychosocial support in challenging situations. A creative art-based descriptive research design was employed utilising an individual One-Page Profile form to gather data from 240 first-year students from two different universities in Slovakia. Data was collected and analysed using a content-thematic and visual approach. Four significant individual predictors of psychosocial support were identified: emotional, instrumental, informational and appraisal. Emotional support consists of desirable mental health, defined by the students as experiencing happiness, self-satisfaction, self-development, relationships which are satisfying, loving and safe, trust, empathic acceptance, and care from others. Instrumental support varies from personnel up to material resources e.g., people, animals, and assistance such as financial services. The preferred informational support is peer-to-peer counselling, followed by professional counselling. When students describe appraisal support their needs are primarily in the areas of well-being and self-efficacy. The study makes various suggestions on how University staff can provide first-year students with support and counselling in their everyday challenges.

Employability is not just about focusing on building the students' workplace experience but about developing their social and cultural capital through learning. In higher education, the selected pedagogies are central to that development (Pegg, 2012). Thoughtful curricular design which maximises student engagement and adopts pedagogies for career and employability learning can help to prepare students for the reality of the workplace. These pedagogies with social connection at their heart can enhance student wellbeing and their perceived sense of belonging to their course and the wider world. This can thus build more confident, reflective, and collaborative graduates who should ultimately be more employable (Rowe, Jackson and Fleming, 2023). This paper uses a qualitative approach to outline four course-based case study examples of pedagogies that strengthen the behaviours and skills that enhance students' employability. The curricular and pedagogic practices of each are examined, and significant themes from each are then synthesised. Together they demonstrate how thoughtful course design and inclusive, integrated, contextualised pedagogic approaches support the development of students' employability learning and graduate skills (Healy, 2023). The common themes from the case studies focused on self-directed, student-centred, authentic learning which encouraged students to (i) work with industry and communities to build early professional networks, (ii) engage in connected learning where the curriculum and its supporting activities and pedagogy facilitate collaborative learning, and (iii) develop confidence, a sense of belonging and professional identities through using these inclusive, collaborative learning approaches. In addition, six practical pedagogic principles are identified for course teams to utilise. These include (i) focus on inclusive practice, (ii) building students' professional identity, (iii) developing students' belonging, (iv) deep critical thinking, (v) the demystification of the workplace through the activities selected, and (vi) students leading their own learning. This paper integrates a series of reflective questions (mapped to each principle) for educational developers to consider as they design future learning activities which foster graduate skills during career and employability learning.

Nationwide, almost one in two of full-time undergraduate students are employed. This qualitative study investigates how 69 workers and learners, who were full-time students in a Los Angeles County public college or university and who had a job, leveraged the wealth of knowledge and resources embedded in their familial and peer networks to strategically manage the demands of school and work. Informed by the theoretical frameworks of funds of knowledge and community cultural wealth, we illustrate the diverse ways family and peers contributed to the success of workers and learners, including sharing college-specific knowledge, providing financial resources, facilitating access to employment opportunities, and providing job-specific knowledge. Findings shed light on the ways workers and learners strategically manage their worlds of school and work with support from their family and peers.

By addressing the research question, "How do Korean international students engage in music for their own well-being in the UK?", this study aims to understand a group of international students' experiences of their temporary migrant status and the coping mechanisms they employ in the pursuit of subjective well-being in response to these experiences. After semi-structured interviews, the thematic analysis resulted in five themes: (1) music as a tongbanja [Korean characters omitted] (companion), (2) music as a safe konggan [Korean characters omitted] (space), (3) music for gwangye [Korean characters omitted] (relationships), (4) music for gibun [Korean characters omitted] (moods), and (5) musical demands of international students. This led to discussions of music as: 'Being' a companion and safe space, and 'doing' in relationships and moods, including doing K-pop for 're-membering'. Therefore, this study adds depth to understanding of how Korean international students in the UK engage with music to address the challenges they face and, thus, enhance their subjective wellbeing.

A mediation model was developed and tested through structural equation modeling, explicating the relationships among student interaction, social presence (perceiving others as "real" in an online environment), and student satisfaction with online learning in counselor education, with a national sample of 378 participants enrolled in US. counseling programs. This mediation model rendered an explanation for how student interaction related to student satisfaction through social presence. To be specific, social presence fully mediated the relationship between student interaction and student satisfaction: (a) there was a statistically significant positive relationship between student interaction and social presence ([beta] = 0.492, p < 0.001); (b) there was a significant relationship between social presence and student satisfaction ([beta] = 0.712, p < 0.001); and (c) there was a significant relationship between student interaction and student satisfaction ([beta] = 0.301, p < 0. 001), but this relationship became nonsignificant and substantially reduced in magnitude ([beta] = -0.049, p = 0.283) when social presence was added to the model, indicating a full mediation model effect. Implications for online counselor education, telesupervision, and future research are provided.

Indigenous people are often hesitant to participate in research projects because they lack trust in researcher intentions. In this article, we explore the critical role that Indigenous boundary spanners play in research conducted with Indigenous communities through our research on oceans and human health. Our analysis centers around five principles where Indigenous boundary spanners significantly influence the research process. Centering work around 'ohana (family), being intentional around where to collect data, approaching the work with humility knowing that the community are the experts, cultivating team members' knowledge of community through conversations, and challenging assumptions within the institution are all aspects of research that must be considered when working with Indigenous communities. Including Indigenous community members and Indigenous scholars as part of teams can improve these aspects of research and begin the process of (re)building trust with Indigenous communities.

This study examines the perception of international students regarding their satisfaction with administrative services while studying in Türkiye. Internationalization stands as a pivotal policy within Türkiye's higher education framework. In addition to the services students receive at the academic level, the quality of administrative services significantly influences overall student satisfaction. Understanding student satisfaction with public services from their application process to their departure is crucial for identifying and addressing any existing issues. In this context, a survey was conducted with 250 international students at Bartin University. The results indicated general satisfaction with administrative services among participants, with notable variations in responses based on gender, age, prior experiences with administrative issues, and the presence of close relatives or acquaintances in Türkiye. In addition, interviews revealed that the primary causes of administrative difficulties stem from language barriers, procedural complexities in documentation, and associated costs.

The purpose of this research was to investigate if the addition of extra credit affected the overall rate of attendance to synchronous lectures in an online asynchronous course, compared to courses in which no extra credit was offered. Further I investigated if the amount of extra credit made a difference to the rate of attendance. I collected data from 10 courses and found that offering low levels of extra credit led to more students attending lectures. This could lead to students having better interactions with peers and instructors, enjoying their classes more, and/or achieving better academic results.

Higher education students, formally adults, are nevertheless subject to adultism. The co-authors of this article--the director of the Students as Teachers and Learners (SaLT) program and three undergraduates who have worked in pedagogical partnership with faculty through SaLT--discuss how this program counters adultism on three levels: conceptually, structurally, and personally/interpersonally. We conclude with implications of this work for others interested in creating structures, practices, and relationships that counter adultism in higher education.

Most research on self-determination theory applications in education focuses on competence and autonomy (Wigfield et al., 2019; Vallerand, 2000). After reviewing its mini theories and relevant recent research, this study argues that relatedness is central to motivation in higher education, as seen in a social context. Specifically, through relatedness, students are presented with alternatives to make choices. Such experience prescribes an internal perceived locus of causality, protects students from falling "prawn" to extrinsic motivation, and consequently improves intrinsic motivation (Deci & Ryan, 1985, p. 154). The hypothesized model is tested using PROCESS macro (Hayes, 2013) based on survey responses from 107 Chinese students regarding learning autonomy and intrinsic motivation, and the results show that relatedness has a complete mediation effect on the relationship between i) autonomy and motivation, ii) competence and motivation. In other words, relatedness complements why autonomy and competence lead to intrinsic motivation. Findings suggest new interpretations of best practices in higher education and open new directions for future research.

It will be very useful for the E-Learning departments, dean's offices, and academic monitoring of the higher education institutions (HEI) of El Salvador to know the perception that students have regarding the academic support of the virtual learning environments (VLE) implemented or strengthened as a response to the events generated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Although this event is in the health area, it has had an impact on other areas, including education, leading HEIs to advance in the virtualization of content for the care of their students. This research allowed us to know the perception of students regarding virtual environments as facilitators of learning and guarantors of favorable social environments in the development of content. Opportunely, the topic is relevant during the social distancing due to the pandemic and, undoubtedly, provides new data to support other studies. In this descriptive study, with a quantitative approach, with a non-probabilistic sample, 279 students from several HEIs from El Salvador participated, to which an online survey was given to know their perception of VLE as learning facilitators. As a main result, it was obtained that such perception depends on your previous experience in VLE.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a transformative force in education, significantly influencing students. This research explores AI's impact on learning experiences, academic performance, career guidance, motivation, self-reliance, social interaction, and AI dependency. Utilizing a descriptive-comparative design, 194 student respondents were chosen through stratified sampling. The results show that students generally perceive AI positively. Students agree that AI enhances personalized learning, engagement, and critical thinking, although practical hands-on learning experiences received less favorable feedback. Academically, students concur that AI helps them identify weaknesses, improve assignments, and track progress, despite some reservations about its efficacy in exam preparation. For career guidance, students agree that AI effectively matches skills with career options, recommends internships, and provides resources, though it is less effective for long-term planning. Students also believe AI boosts motivation through gamified learning and progress tracking and fosters self-reliance via self-directed learning and critical thinking support. Socially, students agree that AI facilitates collaboration, peer learning, and networking. Additionally, students demonstrate a reliance on AI for their learning processes. Notably, female students report a more significant impact on social interactions than male students. The type of device used (laptop vs. cellphone) significantly affects the learning experience, with laptop users reporting a more substantial impact. Differences in AI's impact are noted among various courses, particularly benefiting education students more than those in hospitality management and agriculture. However, age and family income do not significantly influence AI's overall impact.

This Notes in Brief contribution explores the use of autosomal DNA to engage college faculty and staff in a different approach to diversity and inclusion discussions, including antisemitism, on campuses. The author provides results from DNA testing and how he has used his results to discuss his common ancestry with students to build bridges as a former chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Council on his campus.

University First Year Seminar (FYS) programs are diverse in their content and pedagogy. Yet all seek to assist first-year students in the difficult college transition. The purpose of this pilot study was to evaluate if grouping similar academic majors into the existing First Year Seminar (FYS) courses would improve social connectedness, use of academic resources, and engagement on campus. A subset of first year students were assigned to either the control group (CON) of normal mixed major sections, or to the experimental course (EXP) with only related majors. Thirteen EXP and 36 CON students completed the data collection, including an 18-question social support survey administered at the beginning and end of the course. Additionally, two open-ended qualitative analysis questions were asked related to student expectations and perceived course outcomes. Lastly, the three instructors of the EXP and CON courses studied were interviewed using phenomenological methods approximately one week after the end of the semester. Between-groups analysis of the 18 quantitative survey questions identified that the CON group reported more personal conversations with peers and attendance of campus activities while the EXP group reported more faculty interactions. At the beginning of the course, 77% of the EXP group expected to create social connections as a primary course outcome, while only 19% of the CON group did. Academic skills were a higher expectation among the CON group than the EXP group. When asked more directly, both groups expected to make social connections in the class (86%). However, by the end of the study, the reported outcomes were equivocal. Interviews with FYS professors uncovered their own valuable perceptions of connectedness to the university and recommendations for instructor support were made.

The increasing popularity of online learning and its associated technology in higher education, particularly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has garnered significant attention worldwide. This study focuses on investigating and developing the construct of social presence and its relationship with satisfaction in computerized learning environments. The study explores various dimensions of social presence, including social respect, social sharing, open communication, and social navigation, and their impact on satisfaction in online learning. The findings demonstrate that social presence plays a significant role in influencing satisfaction, and a statistically significant correlation exists among the observed variables. The implications of these results are important for higher education institutions, instructional designers, instructors, and learners. This study also provides valuable theoretical foundations for further discussions on social presence and satisfaction in online learning. To effectively meet learners' expectations and enhance social presence and satisfaction, higher education institutions offering online programs should understand their learners' needs. Instructors can contribute to learners' engagement and success by strategically incorporating instructional course designs, arranging materials, and generating clear learning activities that enhance social presence. By providing a high level of social presence in online learning environments, instructors can promote student satisfaction and facilitate effective comprehension of learning materials.

The teaching profession is a profession that must be practiced at a professional level as predicted by new education and training technologies and human psychology. It is necessary to look at the competency areas that make the teaching profession different from other professional fields. These competence areas are: 1- It must be top-level and updatable field information. As it is known, humanity has not yet reached the knowledge of the immutable absolute truth of yesterday, today and tomorrow in the name of positive sciences. Knowledge is relative and constantly changing. 2- Teaching profession knowledge: Pedagogical formation knowledge is meant here. 3- Knowledge of general and local culture: The teacher must be a communication expert at a professional level. For this purpose, healthy communication with the student is expected. The tool to be used here is knowledge of general and local culture. Guidance to students depends on this. 4- Teachers must devote themselves to their work and develop a sense of belonging, and they must enjoy and be satisfied with this professional process. Here is this dimension; It is essentially the spirit of amateurism, aspiring to burn in order to enlighten. In this study, teachers' opinions on the current situation regarding the teaching profession were evaluated within the framework of these competencies. For this purpose, this study was designed descriptively; the "Teacher Self-Evaluation Survey" was used as a data collection tool. This survey; in the annex of the MEB Teacher Performance Evaluation and Candidate Teacher Work and Procedures Regulation (Draft) is a "Teacher Self-Evaluation Survey" and was used because it is available for public use. The survey consists of 50 items and options such as 1- Very little, 2- Little, 3- Medium, 4- Good and 5- Very good. The same survey was also used by teachers to evaluate teachers by adapting the expressions and comparisons were made. The data obtained through the survey was evaluated with arithmetic mean, standard deviation and "t" test for independent samples, and generalizations and appropriate comments were made.

In this paper, the author examines the reflection of social violence within the structure of the Arabic language through an analysis of classical Arabic grammar texts. The study's comprehensive examination of grammatical examples, rules, and terminologies reveals how the societal relationships and power dynamics of the era were embedded within the linguistic framework. The research identifies three primary areas where social violence is manifested: fabricated grammatical examples, grammatical rules, and terminologies. These elements frequently entrenched themselves within socio-political structures that were already oppressive towards women and detrimental to the lower classes and people of colour in Arab societies of that period. Consequently, the works of American Arabic scholars underscore the dual role of grammar books as both language guides and repositories of historical insights into Arab society. The findings of this study thereby contribute to a deeper understanding of the interplay between language, society, and power, particularly within the Arabic-speaking context, and hold significant implications for modern Arabic language pedagogy and further sociolinguistic research.

This qualitative research, employing content analysis, aims to achieve two objectives: (1) to examine self-values, which encompass the categories of literacy and environmental assessment, and (2) to explore social peace values, which include the categories of content and environmental literacy assessment. The research data consist of images accompanied by textual elements sourced from Indonesian language textbooks used in grades 5 and 6 of primary schools. These textbooks are published by the Center for Curriculum, Research, and Book Development, which operates directly under the Ministry of Education and Culture, Republic of Indonesia in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The findings of the research reveal that (1) the values of oneself include acceptance of conditions, wisdom, adherence to rules, patience, consistency, cleanliness, hard work, creativity, enthusiasm, and hard work. Meanwhile, (2) the values of social peace consist of cooperation, care for the environment and other living beings, togetherness, and respect for others' rights. These two categories are spread across texts of types environmental behavior, knowledge, affect, and cognitive, which are included in the categories of social esteem and sanction. Overall, the findings of this research indicate that the discursive practices within the textbooks aim to shape individuals who are independent and cooperative, with an emphasis on inclusivity, appreciation of diversity, and mutual intercultural respect in fostering environmental peace. The analytical framework developed in this study represents a novel contribution to environmental discourse analysis and can be utilized by future researchers, both locally and globally, to study textbooks. Future research could focus on a lexico-grammatical analysis of engagement and graduation elements, with the aim of deepening understanding and enhancing the delivery of sustainability solutions.

Youth-adult partnerships are a powerful means to nurture and amplify youths' voices and create social change. Drawing on our own framework, critical positive youth development, and our experience pilot testing the #PassTheMicYouth curriculum, we identified four promising practices to cultivate youth-adult partnerships. 4-H professionals can use these strategies with youths to prepare them to partner with community-based organizations and to maintain enduring and effective relationships.

I sought to investigate the potential efficacy of an online divorce and co-parent education program. Across 9-years of evaluation data for the Focus on Kids online program, participants (N = 6,679) reported a high degree of program satisfaction. According to pre-post test reports, average knowledge of how to support children across the divorce transition increased. Participants also increased in their intention to avoid engaging in behaviors that are distressing for children. Overall, this study provides potential evidence for the efficacy of online divorce education and provides support for the advancement of online programming as a promising avenue for Extension more broadly.

The aim of this research was to study the current level of preschool teachers' partnership competence in the aspect of interacting in the teaching staff. During the research, questionnaires and statistical methods of analysis were conducted. The results of the study show that 82% of the respondents describe the psychological climate in the team as moderately favourable, 6% note its high level, 9% feel low favourableness, and 3% see it as unfavourable. The conducted research revealed a positive moderate correlation between the partnership competence level and the psychological climate level in the team of preschool teachers. Therefore, a positive psychological climate, characterized by mutual understanding, support and openness, contributes to creating a favorable environment for partnership interaction. When teachers feel comfortable and supported in the team, they are more inclined to work together, share experiences and provide mutual support. The area of further research is to identify the relationship between the professional development of teachers and their partnership competence, as well as to study the impact of distance learning on partnership interaction between teachers and ways of its development in the digital environment.

Vocational high schools in "3T" area on Bawean Island have limitations in human resources quality, equipment, production or practice tools, and industrial partnership, which differed from the vocational high schools located in advanced and developed areas. This research objective is to discover the description of employability to the vocational high school students in "3T" area in Bawean island. The research method applied was the qualitative method using the phenomenology approach. The data collection was obtained through semi-structured interviews. This research participant was eight students at vocational high school "X," "Y," "Z," and "W" schools in Bawean Island, which is one of the "3T" area. The analysis method in this research was content analysis. This research result shows that students in the "3T" area were showing their effort to prepare themselves in facing the job market by enhancing their employability in learning activities within the class or practice in the laboratory. The students' employability includes skills, knowledge, comprehension, personality, career identity, social and human relations, and personal adaptability. Students realize that they are in the "3T" area and must work harder to improve their work skills so as not to lose their jobs.

This systematic review identifies the barriers to implementing restorative justice programs in public school organizations. Due to the novelty of restorative justice in schools, barriers often hamper the implementation process. Thus, it was necessary to identify barriers and how they can be mitigated. The PRISMA tool was utilized to examine 17 studies. The review harnessed Lipsky's (1980) street-level bureaucracy framework to understand the roles of street-level bureaucrats in the education bureaucracy and to understand how the barriers align with the variables that comprise the framework. The results indicated that several barriers existed which include resources, bureaucratic discretion, and role ambiguity.

Although the Latino ethnic group is the largest minority and the fastest growing subgroup in the United States, they are one of the most underserved groups in public schools. This is due to many systemic issues; however, this paper focuses on student engagement. Increasing student engagement decreases student dropout rates. If we can foster high levels of engagement with Latinx students in K-12, they are more likely to graduate high school possibly with aspirations to further their education. This conceptual paper aims to answer the following questions: What factors inhibit and/or contribute to Latinx students' engagement? How do we engage Latinx students in K-12 to encourage them to further their education? Several factors negatively impact Latinx students' engagement in K-12 schools including cultural disconnection, issues with the curriculum, and inequitable practices. Nevertheless, many Latinx students become successful learners. There are many strategies teachers can leverage to support students' success through increased engagement, educators can build relationships, offer a relevant curriculum, and employ equitable practices. Considering the factors that hinder and contribute to Latinx students' engagement in K-12, and drawing from several motivation and engagement theories I advance a conceptual model that promotes Latinx students' engagement and possibly lifelong learning aspirations.

South African society is currently experiencing a breakdown of morals, which is negatively impacting not only communities but also teaching and learning in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). There appears to be a widespread lack of respect for authority, accountability, and good manners among students, who often display rudeness, laziness, dishonesty, and disrespect towards academic staff. These observations indicate a moral crisis in HEIs, which is closely linked to students' reluctance to embrace positive values such as respect, tolerance, obedience, and punctuality. The article aimed to investigate the reasons behind students' display of negative values, focusing on disrespect, dishonesty, and a sense of academic entitlement. Data were gathered through observations and participant interviews, revealing several reasons why students tend to adhere to negative values over positive ones. One recommendation is to introduce values education into university curricula, if not already present. Additionally, universities should explicitly define their values and communicate them to both staff and students, encouraging all parties to work towards restoring moral integrity in HEIs.
