What do half-time internships look like, and how do they operate? What is the variety of types of half-time internships currently in the field? Are there specific issues of quality assurance that pertain to these internships? What place do half-time internships hold currently in the education of psychologists, and can that change in the future? In this article, through a description of 4 existing half-time internship programs and delineation of issues of structure and quality assurance, we offer a portrait of the many faces of half-time internships and the implications for students, clients, and the profession. In the past 50 years, psychology has so heavily emphasized the full-time internship as the preeminent training model that it has often overlooked the benefits of half-time internships for educators, students, the profession, and the populations that psychologists serve. This article makes a case for the nearly forgotten half-time predoctoral internship. The history and context of the half-time internship, culminating in a recent national conference, is presented. The benefits to students, doctoral programs, and the community are described, as well as obstacles and solutions for their implementation. Implications for developing more half-time internships for psychology stakeholders are also discussed. An overview of The National NeedleArts Association's (TNNA) sponsorship of courses in the needlearts at the University of Akron is presented. Internships and service learning are often used by family and consumer sciences (FCS) programs to provide hands-on experience to students. TNNA was able to extend students' geographic perspectives. Students also realized that the fashion merchandising course requirements were important to the internship position.
