In order to develop trustworthy distributed systems, verification techniques and formal methods, including lightweight and practical approaches, have been employed to certify the design or implementation of security protocols. Lightweight formal methods offer a more accessible alternative to traditional fully formalised techniques by focusing on simplified models and tool support, making them more applicable in practical settings. The technical advantages of formal verification over manual testing are increasingly recognised in the cybersecurity community. However, applying formal methods, even in their more practical forms, outside highly specialised research settings remains challenging. For practitioners, formal modelling and verification are often too complex and unfamiliar to be used routinely. In this paper, we present an Eclipse Integrated Development Environment for the design, verification, and implementation of security protocols and evaluate its effectiveness, including feedback from users in educational settings. It offers user-friendly assistance in the formalisation process as part of a Model-Driven Development approach. This IDE centres around the Alice & Bob (AnB) notation, the AnBx Compiler and Code Generator, the OFMC model checker, and the ProVerif cryptographic protocol verifier. For the evaluation, we identify the six most prominent limiting factors for formal method adoption, based on relevant literature in this field, and we consider the IDE's effectiveness against those criteria. Additionally, we conducted a structured survey to collect feedback from university students who have used the toolkit for their projects. The findings demonstrate that this contribution is valuable as a workflow aid and helps users grasp essential cybersecurity concepts, even for those with limited knowledge of formal methods or cryptography. After recent improvements brought the incremental compilation of large industrial test suites down to a few seconds, the first semantic checking of a project became one of the longest-running processes. As multi-core systems are now the standard, we derived a parallelisation using software engineering laws to improve the performance of semantic checking.

The primary aim of this study is to devise and implement an automated and robust Web-based Student Complaint Management System tailored for tertiary institutions. It is evident that numerous students encounter formidable challenges within higher education institutions, primarily stemming from the difficulty associated with registering complaints. Moreover, even when registration is possible, the response to complaints tends to be notably sluggish. In addressing these issues, our focus has been on constructing a system that streamlines the complaint submission process for students, while concurrently ensuring meticulous tracking of all registered complaints. The adoption of the Waterfall Methodology guided our research methodology. In the system design phase, I meticulously modeled the data flow to encapsulate the procedural intricacies of the system. The development of the system employed an array of sophisticated tools, including the PHP programming language, JavaScript, Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheet (CSS), and MySQL. The MySQL server application functioned as the Database Management System (DBMS), while the Visual Studio Code application served as the Integrated Development Environment (IDE). The pinnacle achievement of this research endeavor is highly effective and efficient automated and robust webbased student complaint management software. While there is a proliferation of Decision Support Tools (DSTs) to enhance agricultural water productivity (AWP) and related objectives such as food security, an assessment of their adoption and performance is not known to be undertaken. To develop new or improved DSTs for bespoke applications in optimizing AWP, there needs to be a stock-take of the existing tools, their functionality, user-friendliness and uptake. We compiled and assessed existing DSTs for AWP as a starting point for present and future developers who intend to improve existing or develop new DSTs for optimizing AWP. Secondarily, this review identifies DSTs' key characteristics, availability, and applicability for different typologies and spatio-temporal scales. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) approach was applied to search for literature from Scopus and WoS databases. The study revealed the existence of 81 documented AWP DSTs whose development started from around the 1970 s, peaked in the 1990 s, and declined after that although the improvement and upgrading of existing DSTs continued. Over half (51%) of the DSTs are not readily available in the public domain. The prevalent spatial and temporal application scales are field and day, respectively. There is limited reporting on the application at scale, partly due to the wide unavailability of DSTs. A gap exists in AWP DSTs with geospatial capabilities (one in 10 or 10% had geographic information systems (GIS) integration capabilities). Most DSTs focus on water and food (yield) components but omit energy and other dimensions of AWP. Regarding format, most tools were available as desktop (35%) and web-based (48%) applications, and codes (27%). Developers should strive to deliver AWP tools in convenient, compatible, and user-friendly for a wide range of users, from novices to experts.

LSP establishes a uniform protocol that standardizes the communication between a language client (e. g., an IDE like Eclipse) and a language server (e. g., for a programming language like Java). The language client only needs to be able to interpret and understand the protocol instead of the specific programming language. Likewise, the language server can focus on language support and does not need to consider the specifics of a respective IDE. This reduces the complexity of realizing language support on different editors and IDEs and enables smooth transitions from one IDE to another. LSP is an open and community-driven protocol that has been developed within the realm of the VS Code community, initiated and driven by Microsoft. The generic concept and architectural pattern of LSP enables widespread applications that go far beyond the realization of editing support for programming languages. In the era of the high level of technological achievements of remote sensing of the Earth and the high level of development of web cartography, interactive web applications for the analysis of data of remote sensing of the Earth are gaining more and more popularity. Considering the large amount of space image data, and the complexity and heterogeneity of the analysis tools that need to be developed, the question arises of quickly and efficiently creating an interactive web application for the analysis of space images that will help scientists monitor and study changes in the Earth's surface and predict optimal ways of territory development with minimal expenditure of time and resources. In solving such a question, the specialized web platform Google Earth Engine (GEE) can help. The purpose of the article is to highlight the characteristics and advantages of the GEE platform by creating an interactive web application using the example of analyzing changes in the NDVI index. Analyzing GEE allows us to conclude that this web-platform provides a comprehensive solution for creating interactive cartographic web applications for the analysis of space images with a built-in IDE. Purpose. This paper presents the findings of a review of the literature published in the twenty-first century in order to identify and analyze the current state of tools that track developer interactions with integrated development environments, as well as to recommend future research directions based on the actual state. Methodology. By systematically searching in five digital libraries we conducted a systematic review of the literature on data collection tools from integrated development environments published in the twenty-first century. Fifty-five papers were selected as primary studies. Findings. 55 articles were analyzed and the findings show that using an integrated development environment to collect usage data provides more insight into developer activities than it was previously possible. Usage data allows us to analyze how developers spend their time. With usage data, you can learn more about how developers create mental models, investigate code, conduct mini-experiments through trial and error, and what can help everyone improve performance. The research community continues to be highly active in developing tools to track developer activity. The findings indicate that more research is needed in this area to better understand and measure programmer behavior. Originality. For the first time, systematization and analysis of tools for tracking programmer's behavior in an integrated development environment have been carried out. Practical value. Our study contributes to a better understanding of the current state of research on programmer behavior in integrated development environments. An analysis of the study can help define a research agenda as a starting point for the creation of a novel practical tool.

• Advanced situational awareness for operational reliability for wind energy systems (WES). • Comprehensive uncertainty analysis of wind speed and the development of a multi-state model for accurately capturing the variability of wind generator power output. • Time-series forecasting of wind speed and power generation for two days ahead employing a non-linear autoregressive with exogenous input ANN (NARX-ANN) model to project operational reliability. • Implementation of an IoT-based real-time monitoring framework to enhance the projection and management of WES operational reliability. Wind power fluctuations impact power system flexibility and reliability, emphasizing situational awareness (SA) in wind power integration. Monitoring wind speed and power generation forms the core of SA, enabling insight into wind system conditions. An Integrated Development Environment (IDE) becomes pivotal in assessing the SA of wind-integrated systems, which is vital for forecasting operational reliability in power system planning. The IDE facilitates Simulink-based wind model development and is linked to dSPACE hardware through a real-time interface (RTI) for validation. This IDE-driven integration utilizes cloud-based Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities, acquiring wind speed and power generation data for precise SA evaluations. A multi-state wind speed model is employed to incorporate energy generation fluctuations. To improve this, the artificial neural network (ANN) model, i.e., a time series-based non-linear autoregressive with exogenous input (NARX) ANN, is utilized to predict future wind speed and power generation, strengthening SA-based operational reliability. The study investigates the effectiveness of a suggested operational planning strategy under wind generation uncertainties. This assessment is carried out within a real-time deployment of wind energy systems seamlessly integrated with IoT on the dSPACE platform. The realities of the XXI century - informatization, digital transformation, high technologies, WEB-technologies in particular - put Ukraine state in front of global challenges of creating a digital state. It is the implementation of a number of digital projects which form the digital space of the state, in particular those coordinated by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine. The development of a significant number of applications requires the state to constantly update them, maintain them working, which requires qualified programmers. The task of technical universities is to train competitive specialists in the IT field. This study analyzes the results of a survey of students of NTUU "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Igor Sikorsky ”, the purpose of which was to find out what integrated development environments and programming languages ​​senior students independently choose when developing programs within the educational and professional programs of the faculty, and which correlate with software used by programmers in the implementation of large IT-enterprises, in particular WEB-programming languages. The results of the study showed as well that the rating of programming languages and the use of integrated development environments meet modern requirements for software development. 76.7% of graduates, while being students, are already employed in IT companies as full-time employees. The high percentage of employment suggests that graduate students of the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Engineering of Igor Sikorsky NTUU KPI are competitive in the modern IT labor market.

Software developers' knowledge of integrated development environment (IDE) directly impacts on their productivity. IDE command recommender systems aim at identifying and convincingly presenting to software developers functionality that can help them to accomplish their daily tasks, without overloading them with well known or useless information. Command recommendation requires the estimation of both the utility of commands and the acceptance of the user for new command recommendations. In this paper, we focus on how and when such recommendations should be presented. We performed a long-term user study and our results show that IDE command recommendation must be presented with adequate descriptions of the commands and good usage examples. It seems that a higher frequency of recommendation notifications could be useful, but it should not be too intrusive, especially while developers are focusing on more demanding tasks. To improve recommendation acceptance rate, researchers should also focus on context-aware algorithms and tailor command recommendation timing.

The paper describes the concept of augmented reality. Based on literature analysis, the authors claim that augmented reality technology enriches human experiences with digital data. The introduction of augmented reality applications and services provides an opportunity to increase the realism of research, while also offering an enhanced emotional and cognitive experience. Therefore, it can be an effective tool for the organization of learning in schools, colleges and universities. Augmented reality technologies can be interesting as an object of study as well. To do this, scientists need to design, develop and test appropriate methodologies. This paper explores one of the components of such techniques. The authors analysed several platforms for creating augmented reality applications. Unity, Vuforia and 3d-Studio were chosen for the purpose of analysis. Using them, the authors developed a fragment of the content of education. It contains instructions for creating an augmented reality application. The paper contains the author’s account of the process of training future teachers of computer science at Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University (Ukraine). Based on the conducted study, the authors claim that students showed considerable interest in augmented reality technologies and the content of their training.

Abstract With the development of information technology, especially the development of visual image processing technology, more and more automated production links, such as injection molding production, use visualization to realize automatic detection of injection molds, but the traditional integrated environment for visual image processing exists in real time. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a visual image processing integrated development environment model based on the Moore nearest neighbor model. The model runs on the visual platform, and the residuals to be detected are highlighted by the Moore nearest neighbor model. In order to solve the error caused by the image shift, the model introduces the support vector machine as the classification method, and the model is used for the simulation experiment. The average accuracy of cavity residual detection in the model is 85.71%, and the average time of residual detection is 0.910 s. The results show that the model solves the real-time and accuracy problems of the traditional visual image processing model.

The problem of 2D-distribution of biopolymers by the IEF in the rectangular electrolytic cell with the immobilized pH-gradient is solved. The computer program created on the base of FreeFem++ permits to investigate temporally the IEF-process and to model and optimize a real experiment.

Modeling is requiring increasingly larger efforts while becoming indispensable given the complexity of the problems we are solving. Modelers face high cognitive load to understand a multitude of complex abstractions and their relationships. There is an urgent need to better support tool builders to ultimately provide modelers with intelligent modeling assistance that learns from previous modeling experiences, automatically derives modeling knowledge, and provides context-aware assistance. However, current intelligent modeling assistants (IMAs) lack adaptability and flexibility for tool builders, and do not facilitate understanding the differences and commonalities of IMAs for modelers. Such a patchwork of limited IMAs is a lost opportunity to provide modelers with better support for the creative and rigorous aspects of software engineering. In this expert voice, we present a conceptual reference framework (RF-IMA) and its properties to identify the foundations for intelligent modeling assistance. For tool builders, RF-IMA aims to help build IMAs more systematically. For modelers, RF-IMA aims to facilitate comprehension, comparison, and integration of IMAs, and ultimately to provide more intelligent support. We envision a momentum in the modeling community that leads to the implementation of RF-IMA and consequently future IMAs. The source code suggestions provided by current integrated development environment (IDEs) are mostly dependent on static type learning. These suggestions often end up proposing irrelevant suggestions for a peculiar context. Recently, deep learning-based approaches have shown great potential in the modelling of source code for various software engineering tasks. However, these techniques lack adequate generalisation and resistance to acclimate the use of such models in a real-world software development environment. This Letter presents DeepVS, an end-to-end deep neural code completion tool that learns from existing codebases by exploiting the bidirectional gated recurrent unit (BiGRU) neural net. The proposed tool is capable of providing source code suggestions instantly in an IDE by using pre-trained BiGRU neural net. The evaluation of this work is two-fold, quantitative and qualitative. Through extensive evaluation on ten real-world open-source software systems, the proposed method shows significant performance enhancement and its practicality. Moreover, the results also suggest that DeepVS tool is capable of suggesting zero-day (unseen) code tokens by learning coding patterns from real-world software systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To support and accelerate the development of simulation protocols in atomistic modelling, we introduce an integrated development environment (IDE) for computational materials science called pyiron (http://pyiron.org). The pyiron IDE combines a web based source code editor, a job management system for build automation, and a hierarchical data management solution. The core components of the pyiron IDE are pyiron objects based on an abstract class, which links application structures such as atomistic structures, projects, jobs, simulation protocols and computing resources with persistent storage and an interactive user environment. The simulation protocols within the pyiron IDE are constructed using the Python programming language. To highlight key concepts of this tool as well as to demonstrate its ability to simplify the implementation and testing of simulation protocols we discuss two applications. In these examples we show how pyiron supports the whole life cycle of a typical simulation, seamlessly combines ab initio with empirical potential calculations, and how complex feedback loops can be implemented. While originally developed with focus on ab initio thermodynamics simulations, the concepts and implementation of pyiron are general thus allowing to employ it for a wide range of simulation topics. Owing to the increase in the internet traffic, any calculation that requires more than linear time would be considered unreasonably moderate for constant applications. Recent progress in logic programming (e.g. the development of the answer set programming (ASP) paradigm) has made it possible to teach it to general undergraduate and even middle/high school students. Given the limited exposure of these students to computer science, the complexity of downloading, installing, and using tools for writing logic programs could be a major barrier for logic programming to reach a much wider audience. We developed onlineSPARC, an online ASP environment with a self-contained file system and a simple interface. It allows users to type/edit logic programs and perform several tasks over programs, including asking a query to a program, getting the answer sets of a program, and producing a drawing/animation based on the answer sets of a program. The adoption of Agile software development approaches has been widespread. One well-known Agile approach is extreme programming, which encompasses twelve practices of which pair programming is one of them. Although various aspects of pair programming have been studied, we have not found, under a traditional setting of pair programming, studies that examine the impact of using a tool support, such as an integrated development environment (IDE) or a simple text editor. In an attempt to obtain a better understanding of the impact of using an IDE in this field, we present the results of a controlled experiment that expose the influence on quality, measured as the number of defects injected per hour, and cost, measured as the time necessary to complete a programming assignment, of pair and solo programming with and without the use of an IDE. For quality, our findings suggest that the use of an IDE results in significantly higher defect injection rates (for both pairs and solos) when the programming assignment is not very complicated. Nevertheless, defect injection rates seem to decrease when pairs work on more complicated programming assignments irrespective of the tool support that they use. For cost, the programming assignment significantly affects the time needed to complete the assignment. In relation to the programming type, pairs and solos performed in a similar way with regards to quality and cost.
