Abstract

The biomedical research process must follow certain quality criteria in its design and development to ensure that the results are credible and reliable. Once completed, the time comes to write an article for publication. The article must present in sufficient detail, and in a clear and transparent manner, all the information on the research work that has been carried out. In this way, readers, after a critical reading of the published content, will be able to judge the validity and relevance of the study and, if they so wish, make use of the findings.In order to improve the description of the research process for publication, a series of guidelines have been developed which, in a simple and structured way, guide authors in the preparation of a manuscript. They are presented in the form of a list, flowchart, or structured text, and are an invaluable aid when writing an article.This article presents the reporting guidelines for the most common designs along with the corresponding checklists. Resumen: El proceso de investigación biomédica debe seguir unos criterios de calidad en su diseño y elaboración, que garanticen que los resultados son creíbles y fiables. Una vez finalizado, llega el momento de escribir un artículo para su publicación. Este debe presentar con suficiente detalle, y de forma clara y transparente, toda la información del trabajo de investigación realizado. De esta forma, los lectores, tras una lectura crítica de lo publicado, podrán juzgar la validez y la relevancia del estudio, y si lo consideran, utilizar los hallazgos.Con el objetivo de mejorar la descripción del proceso de investigación para su publicación, se han desarrollado una serie de guías que, de forma sencilla y estructurada, orientan a los autores a la hora de elaborar un manuscrito. A partir de la revisión de un cuerpo de investigaciones relacionadas con los conceptos de “Desarrollo curricular”, “Enacted Curriculum”, “Decisiones curriculares”, “Construcciones curriculares” y “Currículum deliberativo”, el presente artículo propone conceptualizar las decisiones curriculares en la puesta en acción del currículum desde tres enfoques diferentes: Implementación de la norma prescrita, reinterpretación contextualizada y construcción curricular de base. Los tres enfoques se desarrollan a partir de la forma en que se asume el proceso de deliberación curricular y las consecuencias sobre la construcción misma del currículum. En el artículo se presentan los antecedentes del proceso de exploración bibliográfica; la descripción del marco de definiciones generales que organizan la presentación del ejercicio de conceptualización; la presentación pormenorizada de la propuesta conceptual, y, al cierre, las conclusiones asociadas al ejercicio realizado.

Luego de la discusión, al no contar con curvas chilenas de crecimiento fetal, se concluye proponer que la curva estándar de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) sería la indicada dada la calidad de su metodología y por ser multicéntrica.

Abstract

In a context marked by restrictions due to COVID-19 pandemic, this article analyses the impact of COVID-19 on Basque musicians' activity, income, future expectations and life satisfaction. A survey was conducted in 2021 among Basque musicians belonging to MUSIKARI association. Associations among selected variables were analysed calculating correlation rates and conducting inference tests using SPSS software (IBM SPSS statistics). We found that despite the severe damage done by COVID-19 on musicians' activity and income, this damage has been homogeneous among different types of musicians. We also find that future expectations are strongly conditioned by musicians' characteristics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Workers' health and safety, and equality between men and women are two of the main challenges currently facing the labor framework in Spain. Despite the fact that the different risks faced by men and women have been widely studied, the way in which gender can affect the working conditions and career development of occupational health and safety (OHS) technicians has hardly been investigated. To delve into this aspect, a study has been carried out by conducting semistructured interviews with six women who work as OHS technicians and a survey among OHS technicians in the Basque Country (Spain) with 124 responses. The results suggest that there are differences between men and women both in the conditions and in the career development of the OHS technician profession. These differences appear in various thematic blocks such as empowerment, recognition, or aspirations. Women tend to be more skeptical than men on gender equality issues such as the idea of equal promotion opportunities for men and women, or the notion that men's and women's ideas are equally valued, or the way in which having children affects men and women's aspirations. It is very important to reduce these gender differences to achieve a more efficient work environment, which can lead to more efficient OHS management. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Jorge Insunza Becker (April 21, 1936-March 17, 2019) was one of the main leaders of the Chilean Communist Party since the 1960s. He joined the Communist Youth in 1954. In 1962 he was promoted to the Central Committee of the PC and from 1965 he was part of his Political Commission, the one that led the triumph of Salvador Allende in 1970. After the 1973 coup d'état, he was part of the first clandestine communist leadership that assumed the resistance to the dictatorship, together with Víctor Díaz, Américo Zorrilla, Mario Zamorano and Uldarico Donaire. With the return to democracy, he was one of the main figures who addressed the crisis in the socialist countries and the reconstruction of a project of the revolutionary left. Likewise, he had an active role in the agreements that allowed the return of the PC to Congress in 2010 and promoted the pact that allowed the communists to return to government with President Michelle Bachelet in 2014. The 4 volumes that we present cover a large part of the extensive journalistic and political work of this outstanding leader of the Chilean left. Arranged in chronological sequence, the texts collect the main part of his intellectual elaboration from the 1960s to the beginning of the 21st century (Volumes I, II, III). Volume IV is a selection of the most relevant of his career, facilitating the documentary relationship contained in the previous volumes. Undoubtedly, due to the breadth of the compilation made, the whole of this work will be extremely useful both for specialists in history, and for the consultation of interested parties in general. Finally, the contributions of Isabel Torres and Rolando Álvarez, both historians, help to enhance the meaning of the performance that Jorge Insunza took on.

27. The Experiences of Christian Males' Attachment Style and Attachment Figure to God

Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to describe the lived experience of attachment to God in Christian men, how men obtained a secure attachment, and what it means to their life. Attachment Theory explains the importance of attachment bonds formed in infancy between the parent and child. Surrogate attachment figures have gained support in studies, indicating mental representation in attachment to God can assist in developing secure attachment style. The participants consisted of 12 Christian males, ages 21 to 57, active in their faith, and experienced an attachment to God. Using a qualitative, phenomenological design, in-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted. The results indicated themes that described the participant’s experiences and view of God as attachment figure: father figure, close, protector, comforter, and affectionate. The results indicated themes that described the participant’s experiences in forming a secure attachment to God: distressful life experiences, avoiding or distancing from God, seeking reassurance in life circumstances, understanding life experiences, open to new change and growth, open toward developing secure relationships, expanding their faith and trust in God, connecting and remaining close to God, and forming Christian attitudes and behaviors. The results indicated themes that described the participant’s relationship experiences and their God and parent attachment: secure attachment with one parent, absent or lack of a parental figure, other attachment figures, misunderstanding concept of God, and spiritual or religious guide. The findings describe the meaning in participant’s lived experiences with God as an attachment figure, experiences with forming secure God attachment, and their parent attachment. Implications, limitations, and future recommendations are discussed.

Abstract Thymomas are tumours frequently associated with autoimmune manifestations or immunodeficiencies like Good syndrome. In rare cases, pure white cells aplasia (PWCA) has been described in association with thymomas. PWCA is characterized by agranulocytosis of autoimmune background primary refractory to granulocyte colony‐stimulating factor (G‐CSF). It is necessary the use of immunosuppressor to allow granulocyte recovery. Without treatment, it could be fatal.

Abstract

En este artículo se estudia la estructura “artículo definido + nombre propio antropónimo” y su distribución de uso en casos de antropónimos femeninos y masculinos. Se parte del supuesto de que esta estructura es más frecuente cuando el antropónimo es femenino (“la Violeta” y no “el Nicanor”). Al ser expletiva la presencia del artículo ante los sustantivos propios y, por el contrario, ser requerido su uso o el de otro determinante, en posiciones sintácticas específicas, ante los sustantivos comunes, la aparición del artículo definido precediendo al antropónimo femenino podría ser una marca del prejuicio social hacia la mujer. Para corroborar esta hipótesis, se realizó un rastreo del fenómeno estudiado en textos de prensa escrita chilena, con el objetivo de analizar su aparición y frecuencia de uso en los casos de antropónimo femenino y masculino.

Abstract

Abstract. Daratumumab is a human CD38-targeted monoclonal antibody approved as monotherapy for heavily pretreated relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma. We report findings for the Spanish cohort of an open-label treatment protocol that provided early access to daratumumab monotherapy and collected safety and patient-reported outcomes data for patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. At 15 centers across Spain, intravenous daratumumab (16 mg/kg) was administered to 73 patients who had ≥3 prior lines of therapy, including a proteasome inhibitor and an immunomodulatory drug, or who were double refractory to both. The median duration of daratumumab treatment was 3.3 (range: 0.03–13.17) months, with a median number of 12 (range: 1–25) infusions. Grade 3/4 treatment-emergent adverse events were reported in 74% of patients and included lymphopenia (28.8%), thrombocytopenia (27.4%), neutropenia (21.9%), leukopenia (19.2%), and anemia (15.1%). Common (>5%) serious treatment-emergent adverse events included respiratory tract infection (9.6%), general physical health deterioration (6.8%), and back pain (5.5%). Infusion-related reactions occurred in 45% of patients. The median change from baseline in all domains of the EQ-5D-5L and EORTC QLQ-C30 was mostly 0. A total of 18 (24.7%) patients achieved a partial response or better, with 10 (13.7%) patients achieving a very good partial response or better. Median progression-free survival was 3.98 months. The results of this early access treatment protocol are consistent with previously reported trials of daratumumab monotherapy and confirm its safety and antitumoral efficacy in Spanish patients with heavily treated relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. This article describes the operational practices of the city morgue in Santiago, Chile and their effects on the family members who come to claim the bodies of their loved ones. It explores the impact of the body‘s passage through the morgue on the observance of rituals surrounding death and mourning. An underlying conflict can be identified between the states partial appropriation of and interference with the body and intrinsic needs associated with the performance of funeral rites in accordance with cultural and religious precepts.

Abstract

El jueves 28 de abril, en el salón Recabarren de la Casa del Maestro, el Grupo Interuniversitario de investigación en Políticas e Innovación del Currículum, presento su libro “Claves para el desarrollo del Currículum. Análisis crítico y recomendaciones para docentes y escuelas”. El texto contiene siete capítulos con autoría de Mirtha Abraham, María Virginia Ávila, Miguel Caro, Sonia Lavín, Abraham Magendzo, Alex Mondaca, Andrea Rodríguez, Verónica Salgado y Luis Osandón, quien oficia de editor del libro. El texto es prologado por el Dr. Daniel Johnson-Mardones. El libro busca dar cuenta del debate contemporáneo. En este sentido, el texto propone una perspectiva de lectura de época, es decir, busca dar cuenta de un proceso en desarrollo que vive un estado de crisis -que puede ser terminal-, y, por tanto, sitúa la necesidad del inicio de otra(s)-nueva(s) formas(s) de hacer currículum. En este sentido, el texto denuncia y profundiza en la lectura de la crisis y genera propuestas de lectura y acción en donde el currículum puede tomar nuevas formas.

49. Antropología de la muerte en Chile

Abstract

El presente artículo tiene por objetivo dar cuenta del desarrollo de la antropología en el campo de los estudios sobre la muerte en Chile. Para ello se llevó a cabo una revisión general de los principales textos y autores de la literatura antropológica desde sus precursores hasta la actualidad. Se busca evidenciar que la antropología sociocultural, si bien ha tenido una tradición etnográfica y etnológica sobre la muerte desde el siglo XIX, estuvo invisibilizada como campo de estudio durante gran parte del siglo XX. Solo a partir de la década de 1990 esta tendencia cambia, cuando desde la arqueología y la antropología forense se genera un interés renovado en comprender la muerte en las sociedades contemporáneas. Ello tiene como impacto una proliferación de estudios que responden a condiciones e intereses diversos, lo que concurre a una dispersión y atomización académica que no ha permitido construir un campo disciplinar propio y articulado que permita el desarrollo y la consolidación de una antropología de la muerte propiamente tal.
