- Abstract
Organisations are using data, information and knowledge as a competitive weapon. Their data, information and knowledge are arguably their most valuable assets. Yet, this fourth asset is managed badly when compared to the other three assets, namely money, people and infrastructure with considerable risk to the organisation. Executives are accountable for the success of their organisations, and those who don't manage this critical resource and business enabler effectively can be regarded as negligent. Information Assets carry enormous risk and value. Most boards and executives don't know how to govern and manage IAs effectively and nobody is held accountable. Given this, organisations should govern and manage their Information Assets the way they manage their Financial Assets. The benefits of managing IAs well are compelling. These benefits include increased efficiency, productivity, employee satisfaction, improved decision-making, mitigating business risk and improving product, protecting corporate reputation and service delivery. Drawing on ground-breaking research, this book explains why Information Assets are so important to organisations and the barriers to managing them well. This book is unique in the sense that it takes a fresh look at this topic, is based on experience and research, and includes interviews from more than 70 industry leaders. In short, this book is written by executives and explains where to start.

- Abstract
Reflecting proactively on a growing industry'dilemma', this book explores how publishing businesses can and do successfully experiment and innovate in digital publishing through collaboration. Many sectors of publishing are still structured around print production, with digital innovation in the consumer arena generally focused on different book formats, such e-books and audiobooks, rather than on brand-new types of products. Publishers need to innovate around different sorts of content and digital formats as consumers change their media habits. However, their pricing, business and risk models, and workflows are reflective of a legacy of print publishing; and as print commands so much revenue, publishers do not want to derail their main business as they experiment. Drawing on an analysis of collaboration and network theory and four in-depth qualitative case studies in different sectors, this research suggests that collaboration, particularly engaging with the wider creative sector, is key to the sustainable development of new types of products. It points to the characteristics of a successful digital collaboration and explains how to manage publishing innovation alongside the existing business, through para-organisations. Considering novel approaches to innovation, such as iterative software-style approaches and agile project management, as well as new business models, such as those employed in games development, the author shows how introducing new people – from software developers to competitors – can help instill a collaborative mindset within the organisation and facilitate constructive experimentation.Managing Digital Innovation in Publishing will be of interest to upper-level students and researchers of (digital) publishing and related creative industries.

- Abstract
This book exposes two inspiring research categories: digitization and trust. Digitization is a phenomenon that dynamically modifies the modern world in almost every area. Modern technologies, artificial intelligence and humanoid robots are instruments with an increasingly significant impact on the shape of the management process of modern organizations, including the way people are managed. Trust is a subtle concept, with a very different interpretation, influencing the behaviour of employees in a multifaceted way. A superficial look at the combination of both categories seems to see them as irrational. Upon closer examination, however, it exposes many interesting fields of scientific exploration. Trust, as a research category, has been included in three significant dimensions: in relation to co-workers, superiors and information technology, dominated by digitization. Each draws attention to different problems of priority importance for the organization. Asserting the idea that trust in the conditions of digitization becomes a category of timeless importance in the interdisciplinary dimension, this volume will be of interest to researchers, academics, practitioners and advanced students in the fields of management of technology and innovation, organizational studies and leadership. The Open Access version of this book, available at www.taylorfrancis.com, has been made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-No Derivatives (CC-BY-NC-ND) 4.0 license.

The central task of contemporary strategic management is to look for sources of value and to achieve above- average firm performance. The effective implementation of a value creation strategy requires a comprehensive approach, including the creation of a systemic management structure aimed at increasing company value. The concept of value- based management involves consciously inspiring, undertaking, and implementing value- oriented actions. Value creation takes place at all levels of management and in all organisational units of the company; therefore, the implementation of all management functions should be assigned to this goal. Thus, the role of managers is gaining importance, especially those who are capital- linked to companies, who set goals and verify them by means of informed decisions aimed at maximising value in the long term. The book presents a multidimensional analysis of shareholders'impact on company value creation. The authors chose the IT sector as the area of study; this sector, being one in which modern technologies are essential, acquires special significance for the global economy. The book features a review of notions and concepts related to the management of company value and methods of measuring it, the shareholder's impact on the creation of company value, and factors affecting long- term value creation; an analysis of the places of occurrence, power and direction of a shareholder's impact on building the long- term capacity of an IT sector company for creating the value thereof, as well as the conceptualisation and operationalisation of such impact; an analysis of the role of shareholders in IT sector companies, a profile of shareholder competence which makes the role of a shareholder unique to the company and fulfils the “value- creating owner” postulate; an analysis of the role of hired managers cooperating with the shareholders with an indication of the significance of mutual development and the supplementation of one's own skills. The book is dedicated to scientists in the field of strategic management, valuebased management, and leadership; shareholders; students of EMBA and MBA programmes; practitioners in strategic management; and current shareholders of modern technology companies (in particular from the IT sector) and future investors, for all of whom it may offer a valuable outlook on the management principles and practices in the sectors, particularly with respect to the long- term creation of company value. The Open Access version of this book, available at www.taylorfrancis.com, has been made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-No Derivatives (CC-BY-NC-ND) 4.0 International license.

Together with the transformation of incumbent banks, the processes result in changes in the scope of existing banking services. Moreover, new entities (FinTech firms) partner with incumbent banks and reshape the banking sector and its financial environment. The far-reaching transformation of banks and the banking sectors is accompanied by some institutional and socioeconomic processes. Regarding institutional processes, the book provides insight into the digitalization of the banking sector from a legal point of view. Traditionally, banking is strongly regulated by norms and rules and this status should be maintained when new entities are entering the sector and/or when new technological solutions contribute to the provision of banking services. Regarding socioeconomic processes, it must be highlighted that digitalization is exerting a powerful impact on societies. One significant example, among others, is the increase in the financial inclusion of disadvantaged groups (especially customers either underserved by the traditional financial sector or unbanked). The socioeconomic aspect, however, has a much greater dimension and its selected aspects are described in this book. The principal audience of the book will be scholars in the fields of banking and finance, but also other related disciplines in the social sciences that are of particular relevance to the banking sector's digital transformation. This includes legal science, management, and psychology. The book also targets professionals in the financial industry interested in the impact of new financial technologies on banking sectors and bank services, particularly with a main focus on legal and socioeconomic dimensions.Chapter 10 of this book is freely available as a downloadable Open Access PDF at http://www.taylorfrancis.com under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-No Derivatives (CC-BY-NC-ND) 4.0 license.

- Abstract
Released in 2017, the first edition of Why CISOs Fail reimagined the role of the Chief Information Security Officer in a new and powerful way. Written to be easily consumable by both security pros as well as everyone who must deal with them, the book explores the different realms in which security leaders fail to deliver meaningful impact to their organizations, and why this happens. Its central thesis—that security is primarily a human behavioral discipline rather than a technology one—has been gaining increased attention as a core tenet of the field, and the book was ultimately inducted into the cybersecurity canon as a leading book on security management. In this freshly updated edition, Barak Engel adds new sections that correspond with the chapters of the original book: security as a discipline; as a business enabler; in sales; in legal; in compliance; in technology; and as an executive function. He explores new ideas in each operational area, providing essential insights into emerging aspects of the discipline. He then proposes two critical concepts for security management—the concept of'digital shrinkage'and the transition from CISO to CI/SO—that together offer a new paradigm for any organization that wants to become truly successful in its security journey. Why CISOs (Still) Fail is delivered in Barak's conversational, humoristic style, that has attracted a global audience to this and his other book, The Security Hippie. As he notes, the book's goal is to entertain as much as to inform, and he dearly hopes that you have fun reading it.

- Abstract
Strategic innovation dynamically brings about strategic positioning through new products, services and business models, and is a dynamic view of strategy that enables a corporation to maintain its competitive advantage and establish sustainable growth. For these reasons, corporations have to be innovators that can reinforce their existing positions through incremental innovation, while at the same time constantly renewing or destroying existing business through radical innovation. This book presents a holistic theoretical model, The Strategic Innovation System, as a system of capabilities for companies to achieve strategic innovation. As a subsystem of the Strategic Innovation System, this book presents the concept of the “Capabilities Building Map”, which has characteristics of four different capabilities that correspond to the elements of speed of changes and uncertainty in the environment faced by companies. It explores how companies can change and even evolve their capabilities to achieve strategic innovation, using the latest findings of the systems-view, the process-view, and dynamic capabilities-view. The author evaluates management systems that achieve sustainable strategic innovation by utilizing knowledge assets inside and outside of organizations, including those of leaders, rather than simply relying on leaders with strong will. This book will primarily appeal to academics, researchers, and graduate students interested in innovation and technology management, digital transformation as well as strategic management and strategy planning and a broader business audience.

- Abstract
Digital transformation doesn't just raise ethical issues, it—in itself—is an ethical shift.Business leaders today are struggling to manage conflicting imperatives, those of the emerging digital world and those of the bureaucratic world of the past. The act of digital transformation requires a deep change in the moral outlook and ethical assumptions of a business. But how do we get there?Enterprise strategist and author Mark Schwartz shows how we need to learn to think differently about relationships with customers and employees. That the ethics of digital transformation is a matter of cultivating and applying virtues rather than applying rules. Ethics is not just a matter of refraining from doing bad things. It's a matter of building the world we want, and it's the job of company executives.Featuring a chapter on bullshit, a handy chart of excuses for bad behavior, and Schwartz's typically paradoxical blend of deep insight and pasta jokes, this book guides business leaders as they struggle to adapt their bureaucratic framework of ethics to the emerging landscape of the digital world. By the end of the book, business leaders will rethink what it takes to be an ethical organization.

- Abstract
Digital transformation has become more than a buzzword from the media since companies figured out the importance of rethinking business processes during global challenges. On its own, the term assumes integration of digital technology into all areas of a business, resulting in fundamental changes to how the company operates and delivers value to customers. Taking care of and choosing the optimal ICT tools is a constant struggle; the final decision may depend on the consultant's experience. Including all business stakeholders in this process is a must. Creating innovative company culture, continuous learning, and developing new skills with flexible and open communication and willingness to experiment are a challenge. This complex, comprehensive approach can include implementing new systems, integrating existing systems, and using data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning to drive better outcomes. By adapting and exploiting digital technology in new ways, businesses can gain better and more detailed customer experiences and build stronger relationships with their clients. In addition, digital transformation can help organizations to be more agile and responsive, which can lead to less time needed for different processes or the ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions. In a time when change is the only constant – and it is hitting us every day not to forget about that – it is essential to think about digital transformation constantly. Technology improvement, availability, and scalability give us no room for excuses for not using them. Who can say that we are not living in dynamic and exciting times? The Authors have taken their 20 years of practical experience and put it into this handbook, in which many cases can be found where not every time is a success story. This book is prepared to provide some insights, give you a fresh overview of what such change can enable, and set up an environment for new technology that will arrive shortly.
