Histopathological assessments performed via incisional biopsy or enucleation are necessary for the definitive diagnosis of an odontogenic keratocyst (OKC), an intraosseous odontogenic cyst. However, obtaining an adequate and representative sample through an incisional biopsy is often difficult. Moreover, the disappearance of typical morphological characteristics due to secondary inflammation makes histopathology of the enucleated material difficult. Herein, we present two patients with OKCs whose treatment plans entailed the preparation of smears from luminal aspirates and the performance of an incisional biopsy or enucleation. In one patient, typical histological features of OKC were difficult to determine in the broad area; in the other, the indefinite epithelium lining the cyst's wall encumbered the accurate histological evaluation of paraffin-embedded sections of a preoperative biopsy specimen. During cytological assessments of luminal contents, smear samples of both patients consistently showed numerous anucleate squamous cells, keratinous debris, and isolated keratinocytes without nuclear atypia. The diagnosis of OKC was finally confirmed using operative samples in both cases. Both patients had no postoperative complications. These cases indicate that cytological assessments performed using the smear technique through the aspiration of luminal contents compensate for the weakness of morphological evaluation by incisional biopsy or enucleation. Purpose: The histologic finding of perineural invasion is a poor prognostic factor in oral squamous cell carcinoma patients. The aim of this study is to detect factors that influence prognosis in patients operated for oral cancer with perineural invasion in their histopathology report and to propose safer options of treatment with respect to recurrence and survival rates. Patients and methods: We performed a prospective cohort study of all oral squamous cell carcinoma cases operated in our department from January 2018 to January 2022. Overall, 75 cases of patients operated for oral squamous cell carcinoma were included in the study. Of these cases, 14 with perineural invasion were found. We created two groups: one group of patients treated with in-continuity resection and a second group of patients treated with a discontinuous resection between the primary site and the neck. Type of operation was considered the predictor variable and recurrence, survival or death, the outcome variables. Results: Oral cancer patients with known perineural invasion treated with in-continuity resection had a much better overall and disease-specific survival than patients treated with a discontinuous manner (p <.001). The difference in recurrence rate between these two groups of patients was found to be very significant in our study (p <.0005). Conclusion: It is therefore our suggestion that in oral squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue and floor of the mouth with perineural invasion detected in the incisional biopsy, an extended in-continuity resection to include the affected nerves should be performed. Intravascular large B-cell lymphoma (IVLBCL), a rare subtype of malignant lymphoma, is diagnosed by observation of intravascular proliferation of tumor cells in samples taken from affected organs. However, diagnosis of IVLBCL is usually difficult due to the lack of mass formation. IVLBCL may be fatal when the diagnosis is delayed, so an accurate early diagnosis is the key to successful treatment. Random skin biopsy (RSB), in which specimens are sampled from normal-appearing skin, has been reported as useful. However, the specific method of RSB remains controversial, with individual institutions using either the punch method or the incisional method. Research has shown that the incisional method has higher sensitivity than the punch method. We discuss whether this difference might owe to the collection of punch specimens from an insufficient depth and whether the punch method might result in false negatives. For RSB, we recommend taking specimens not only from normal-appearing skin, but also from any lesional skin, because lesions may reflect micro IVLBCL lesions. To ensure accurate diagnosis, both dermatologists and hematologists should know the proper method of RSB. This review summarizes the appropriate biopsy method and sites for RSB. Pleomorphic adenoma is the most common tumour of the lacrimal gland. Correct preoperative diagnosis is essential as the tumour should be removed en bloc. Incisional biopsy is contraindicated due to risk of recurrence and subsequent risk of malignancy. We identified 13 patients who were diagnosed with lacrimal gland pleomorphic adenoma in our institution over a 31-year period from 1990 to 2021. Of these, we describe four patients, three males and one female, who underwent incisional biopsy. One of these patients had a number of recurrences and required an orbital exenteration. The other two were treated with radiation to the orbit and experienced severe dry eye post-radiotherapy. All three patients are currently disease-free. The fourth patient underwent an incisional biopsy of his lacrimal gland pleomorphic adenoma (LGPA) within the last 6 months and has been referred for radiotherapy. The reasons for a lack of preoperative diagnosis of LGPA included clinical uncertainty and broad radiologic differential. None of the patients who had an en bloc resection experienced recurrence. We recommend that a fine needle aspirate (FNA) biopsy in lieu of a tissue biopsy should be performed where LGPA is included in the clinical and radiological differential diagnosis. Nodular fasciitis (NF) is a benign, reactive, myofibroblastic proliferative solitary lesion that commonly develops in the subcutaneous or superficial fascia. We present a case of a 35-year-old male with a rapidly enlarging upper eyelid mass postiatrogenic incisional trauma. Subsequent en toto excisional biopsy demonstrated NF. Given the rapid clinical course of this patient and the reactive nature of NF, we hypothesize that the initial incisional trauma likely incited an inflammatory response resulting in rapid proliferation and growth of the lesion. NF accounts for <1% of all orbital lesions, and is often a clinically and pathologically difficult diagnosis to make given its propensity to mimic other benign and malignant conditions. Abstract Background It is known that specimen collection followed by histopathological workup is the core of evidence-based medical therapy of musculoskeletal tumors. There exist many controversies about how a biopsy should be performed. While some centers recommend minimal invasive biopsy procedures, mostly the core needle biopsy (CNB), others prefer the incisional biopsy. Purpose of the study This study aimed to determine the accuracy of incisional biopsy for malignant tumors in the musculoskeletal system. Moreover, advantages and disadvantages to other biopsy methods are discussed. Methods This retrospective, single-center study about 844 incisional biopsies (benign and malignant) analysis the diagnostic accuracy of 332 malignant tumors, concerning the final histopathological result. In addition, surgical complications are analyzed to find the best way to plan and treat patients timely and correct. Secondary endpoints are the patients age, the pure operation time, as well as the type of tumor, and the subsequent therapy. Results In summary, incisional biopsy corresponded a sensitivity of 100% for malignancy in 844 incisional biopsies and a specificity of 97.6% in 332 malignant tumors, but it features greater operative expense (incision/suture 23.5 min) and the risk of general anesthesia. Conclusion The method of biopsy should be tailored to the individual patient and the experience of the center performing the procedure.

Objective: To investigate the diagnostic value of dermoscopy in defining the tumor margin of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) for the appropriate surgical margin. Methods: A total of 90 cSCC patients were enrolled in the study. All patients were recruited into two groups: those who preserved intact macroscopic features of neoplasms without or after incisional biopsy and those with uncertain residual tumors after excisional biopsy. A dermoscopy-defined surgical margin of 8mm outward was used according to the tumor boundaries observed with the naked eye and dermoscopy. All excised tumor specimens were divided into serial sections according to the four "3, 6, 9, 12" directions at every 4-mm interval from the dermoscopy-detected tumor margin. Pathological examination was performed at 0 mm, 4 mm, and 8 mm margins to confirm tumor remnants. Results: Retrospective analysis of dermatoscopic results showed inconsistent clinical and dermatoscopic borders in 43 of 90 cases (47.8%). The ability of dermoscopy to detect tumor borders showed no statistical difference between the two groups (p > 0.05). In the unbiopsy or incisional biopsy group, 66.6% of the tumors were resected with a 4-mm margin and 98.3% with an 8-mm margin, with significant differences (p = 0.047). For patients with inconspicuous clinical evidence of residual tumor after excisional biopsy, the tumor clearance rate was 53.3% at 0 mm, 93.3% at 4 mm, and 100.0% at 8 mm. Statistically significant differences were noted between 0mm and 4mm (p = 0.017), as well as between 0 mm and 8 mm (p = 0.043) but did not differ between 4 mm and 8 mm (p > 0.05). Conclusions: Dermoscopy defined the tumor margin of cSCC better than visual inspection alone. Direct dermoscopic-guided surgery with at least 8-mm expansion was recommended for high-risk cSCC. Dermoscopy also assisted in identifying surgical margins at the healing biopsy site, making 8 mm still the recommended expansion range. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: White Sponge Nevus (WSN) is a rare benign disorder associated with mutations in genes coding for cytokeratin 4 (KRT4) and 13 (KRT13) characterized by dyskeratotic hyperplasia of mucous membranes. This study was aimed at examining different approaches (cytology, pathology and genetic analysis) to WSN diagnosis. Methods: A series of four patients with asymptomatic white diffuse oral lesions were evaluated and, before performing an incisional biopsy for pathology, an oral brush Thin Prep was collected for exfoliative liquid-based cytology (LBC). DNA for genetic analysis was also obtained from patients and both their parents, using buccal swabs. Results: Pathology and cytology showed similar results, leading to the same diagnosis of hyperkeratotic epithelium with acanthosis and spongiosis, without atypia, demonstrating the efficiency of LBC for the differential diagnosis. Sequencing analysis revealed at least 6 rare variants in the KRT4 and KRT13 genes in each patient, contributed in part by both unaffected parents. Conclusions: Thin Prep for oral exfoliative cytology and genetic analysis are sufficient for an accurate diagnosis of WSN. The combination of cytological and genetic analyses could substitute the histologic exam, providing a non-invasive alternative for incisional biopsy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Xeroderma pigmentosum (XP) is genetic autosomal recessive disorder with photosensitivity on exposure to sun and also presents with various malignancies such as squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, and malignant melanoma. A 22-year-old female visited our outpatient clinic with 18 months history of pigmented nodule on her nose. She was diagnosed with XP since she was 2 years old. Physical examination revealed a waxy, blackish-brown nodule on her nose. Incisional biopsy was performed. The histological findings revealed multiple, palisaded basophilic tumor masses surrounded by prominent infiltrating lymphocytes confirming our clinical diagnosis. She was advised sun protection with the use of protective clothing and glasses. XP leads to chances of various malignancies. Early diagnosis, proper clinical examination, histopathological examination for the diagnosis of condition is must to come to proper diagnosis. Instructions to the patients to take proper protection from sun and wearing protective clothing must be given.

Tissue-sparing biopsy techniques are frequently used in clinical practice but can result in misdiagnosis of large, clinically challenging lesions. We present a case of a 70-year-old man with hidradenocarcinoma of the left chin, a diagnosis that was delayed owing to repeated superficial biopsies that were negative for disease. Diagnosis was ultimately obtained via an incisional biopsy. We discuss the clinical features of hidradenocarcinoma and why this diagnosis can be easily missed with superficial biopsies. It is important that dermatologists consider incisional biopsies in the workup of clinically challenging lesions for which malignancy is considered.

Objectives: To assess the feasibility of preoperative ultrasound (US)‐guided incisional biopsy through a prospective controlled clinical trial. Methods: This was a prospective, double‐arm, single‐center study of Chinese patients. Thirty patients were enrolled in the study. Fourteen patients received incisional biopsies for which the choice of biopsy area relied on a clinical evaluation, and 16 patients received incisional biopsies for which the choice of biopsy area relied on a US‐guided evaluation. The following procedure was used in the US‐guided incisional biopsy group: 1) clinical and dermoscopic evaluation of skin lesions; 2) US examination; 3) incisional biopsy; 4) surgical excision; and 5) histopathological examination. The same procedure was used in the non–US‐guided group except without US examination. Results: In the non–US‐guided group, the mean tumor thicknesses obtained from incisional biopsy and postoperative histopathological examination were 2.1 and 4.1 mm, respectively. Seven melanomas were underestimated by incisional biopsy, resulting in margins narrower than currently recommended. In the US‐guided group, the mean tumor thicknesses obtained from US, incisional biopsy, and postoperative histopathological examination were 3.4, 2.9, and 2.7 mm, respectively. In only 3 melanomas was the tumor thickness of the incisional biopsy less than that of the postoperative histopathological examination, demonstrating that US‐guided biopsy obtains the maximum thickness area. Conclusions: Preoperative US‐guided incisional biopsy can enhance the pathological accuracy of incisional biopsy, which may allow us to better perform surgical excision with safe peripheral surgical margins. Abstract Background The degree of contamination of healthy tissue with tumor cells during a biopsy in bone or soft tissue sarcomas is clearly dependant on the type of biopsy. Some studies have confirmed a clinically relevant contamination of the biopsy tract after incisional biopsies, as opposed to core-needle biopsies. The aim of our prospective study was to evaluate the risk of local recurrence depending on the biopsy type in extremity and pelvis sarcomas. Methods We included 162 patients with a minimum follow-up of 6 months after wide resection of extremity sarcomas. All diagnostic and therapeutic procedures were performed at a single, dedicated sarcoma center. The excision of the biopsy tract after an incisional biopsy was performed as a standard with all tumor resections. All patients received their follow-up after the conclusion of therapy at our center by means of regional MRI studies and, at a minimum, CT of the thorax to rule out pulmonary metastatic disease. The aim of the study was the evaluation of the influence of the biopsy type and of several other clinical factors on the rate of local recurrence and on the time of local recurrence-free survival. Results One hundred sixty-two patients with bone or soft tissue tumors of the extremities and the pelvis underwent either an incisional or a core-needle biopsy of their tumor, with 70 sarcomas (43.2%) being located in the bone. 84.6% of all biopsies were performed as core-needle biopsies. The median follow-up time was 55.6 months, and 22 patients (13.6%) developed a local recurrence after a median time of 22.4 months. There were no significant differences between incisional and core-needle biopsy regarding the risk of local recurrence in our subgroup analysis with differentiation by kind of tissue, grading of the sarcoma, and perioperative multimodal therapy. Conclusions In a large and homogenous cohort of extremity and pelvic sarcomas, we did not find significant differences between the groups of incisional and core-needle biopsy regarding the risk of local recurrence. The excision of the biopsy tract after incisional biopsy in the context of the definitive tumor resection seems to be the decisive factor for this result.

Background/Aim: The objective of the study was to compare cytological diagnoses using transepithelial cytology (oral brush biopsy) with histopathological diagnoses obtained by incisional biopsy in patients with benign lesions, oral potentially malignant disorders and oral squamous cell carcinoma. Material and Methods: The study included 57 patients. Brush biopsy was performed after local anaesthesia administration using the cervical brush. It was immediately followed by an incisional biopsy. Modified Bethesda System was used for cytological analysis and correlated with histopathological diagnoses according to intraepithelial neoplasia. Results: Good agreement was shown between cytological and histopathological diagnosis (kappa = 0.791). The sensitivity of the study was 92.85%, specificity 100%, positive predictive value (PPV) was 100% and negative predictive value (NPV) 93.54%. Conclusions: Oral brush biopsy, which allows the collection of epithelial cells of all layers can provide fast, precise and efficient cytological results which are in good agreement with the 'gold standard' - incisional biopsy followed by histopathology.

Desmoplastic ameloblastoma is an unusual type of ameloblastoma which varies substantially from other variants of ameloblastoma. This case report describes a case of desmoplastic ameloblastoma in a 40-year-old male patient who presented with a swelling in the right maxillary anterior region which was painless in nature. The patient was apprehensive about the asymmetry caused by the massive tumor. Initially, conventional computed tomography was done, and the diagnosis was confirmed by histopathology. Surgical resection of the tumor was done, and a prefabricated prosthetic splint was given postoperatively. The surgical site healed completely, and there was no recurrence at 6-month follow up. The present case report emphasizes the specific histological features of the tumor. Due to its invasive nature, early intervention is needed to reduce the disfigurement, functional hindrance, and other complications caused by the tumor.

Biopsy in simple terms means removal of a tissue from a living person for diagnostic purposes. It helps in differentiating an abnormal tissue from a normal one. It helps in diagnosis of various cancers, tumors or any unidentified growth seen during clinical examination. To evaluate the different types of intraoral biopsy procedures performed in an institutional setup in 1 year. It is designed as a retrospective study. A total of 234 patient records who had a growth intraorally and required investigation for the same were acquired. It was done analysing records of 86000 patient data who were treated from March 2019-March 2020. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse the frequency and percentage of the different intraoral biopsies performed. Chi square test was used to evaluate the correlation between age and gender with the different types of biopsy procedures performed. SPSS version 20 software was used to perform statistics. Out of the total data extracted, 80.3 percent underwent incisional biopsy, in 17.5% excisional biopsy was carried out, 1.3% underwent FNAC procedures and 0.9% other biopsy techniques were performed. Maximum biopsy procedures were carried out between the age group of 40-60 years. More cases were seen among the male population. Age had a positive relation with the type of biopsy performed when chi square test was done p value less than 0.05. Gender a negative correlation with the type of biopsy performed p value more than 0.05.Incisional biopsy was found to be the most commonly performed type of biopsy. Age had a positive correlation with the type of biopsy performed. Gender did not have a significant correlation with the type of biopsy performed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective– to refine the method of incisional biopsy in the diagnosis of oral mucosa cancer using the auto-fluorescent stomatoscopy. Materials and method.The study was conducted on the base of the Samara Regional Clinical Oncology Center. The inclusion criterion for patients was the diagnose of the oral mucosa cancer of various localization. Patients were divided into 2 groups. The main group included patients (n=43), who were being diagnosed for cancer with the help of optimized incisional biopsy of the oral mucosa formations, using the "AFS-400" autofluorescence complex and glasses with a green light filter for identification. The patients of the control group (n=46) received the standard biopsy procedure under direct vision. Results.The first incisional biopsies revealed cancer in 25 (54%) patients of the control group and in 36 (84%) patients of the main group. A histological verification of the diagnosis was necessary in 7 (16%) patients of the main group and required the second biopsy. In the control group, for the same purpose, 17 (37%) patients underwent the second biopsy and 4 (9%) patients required the third biopsy procedure. Exophytic-papillary forms of cancer were the most complex for histological verification. The primary biopsy of these cases was effective in 16 (37%) patients in the main group and in 8 (17%) patients in the control group (p = 0.036). In patients with initial stages of cancer (I-II), with the first incision biopsy, the histological verification of cancer was achieved in 16 (37%) cases in the main group and in 8 (17%) cases in the control group (p = 0.036). Conclusion.The use of the "AFS-400" autofluorescent complex and glasses with a green light filter for incisional biopsy of oral mucosal formations allows histological verification of cancer with the first biopsy in 84% of cases, including in stages I - II – in 16 (37%) cases and in exophytic papillary forms – in 16 (37%) cases. The significant difference was registered for the similar indicators of the control group (p = 0.036).

Aim:The aim of this study was to retrospectively evaluate the age, sex, pre-operative fine needle aspiration cytology and incisional biopsy diagnosis, surgical procedure and histopathological results of patients who underwent parotidectomy.Materials and Methods:A total of 67 patients with different parotid gland tumors underwent surgery at Tekirdag Namik Kemal University Faculty of Medicine between 2011-2019 years. The patients’s age, sex, fine needle aspiration cytology and biopsy results, histopathological and postoperative histopathological results and tumor sizes were evaluated. Fine needle aspiration cytology and incisional biopsy results were compared with histopathological data and efficacy of these methods were compared.Results:According to the parotidectomy results of 67 patients, 58(%86.5) were diagnosed as benign (Pleomorphic adenoma, Whartin, Sebaceous lymphadenoma, Sialolithiasis) and nine (13.5%) were diagnosed as malignant. Twenty patients underwent fine needle aspiration cytology and 25 patients underwent incisional biopsy before surgery. Of the 20 patients who underwent FNAC, 16 (80%) were diagnostic and four were non-diagnostic. Of the 25 patients who underwent incisional biopsy, 21 (84%) were diagnostic and four were non-diagnostic.Conclusion:80% of salivary gland tumors that occur in the parotid are benign. The majority of these benign tumors (61-90%) are pleomorphic adenomas. In our study, 86,5% of the parotidectomy cases were benign tumors similar to the literature. 52% of these benign cases are pleomorphic adenoma, the second most common benign tumor is whartin and constitutes 43% of benign tumors.

Objective: To evaluate the accuracy of ultrasonography in diagnosis of infectious maxillofacial/swelling. Study Design: Simple Cross Sectional study. Setting: Outpatient Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Unit, Punjab Dental Hospital, Lahore. Period: February 2016 to August 2016. Material & Methods: Conducted on 100 patients. The patients were evaluated with the ultrasound diagnostic modality. The ultrasound interpretation of all the cases was done and best possible diagnosis was made and recorded regarding diagnosis of infectious maxillofacial swellings. The incisional biopsy of every patient was done for histopathology. All findings of ultrasound and histopathology were entered to a proforma. Results: The average age of the patients was 35.81±14.31 years. In this study, 63% patients were males and 37% were females. Out of 100 patients, 70(70%) patients had infectious swelling while 30(30%) did not have infectious swelling. The sensitivity of ultrasonography was calculated as 84.72%, specificity was 67.86%, positive predictive value was 87.14%, negative predictive value was 63.33% and diagnostic accuracy was noted as 80% taking histopathology as gold standard. Conclusion: It was concluded from results of this study that ultrasonography has enough diagnostic accuracy to diagnose infectious swellings of maxillofacial region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: White Sponge Nevus (WSN) is a rare benign disorder associated with mutations in genes coding for cytokeratin 4 (KRT4) and 13 (KRT13) characterized by dyskeratotic hyperplasia of mucous membranes. This study was aimed at examining different approaches (cytology, pathology and genetic analysis) to WSN diagnosis. Methods: A series of four patients with asymptomatic white diffuse oral lesions were evaluated and, before performing an incisional biopsy for pathology, an oral brush Thin Prep was collected for exfoliative liquid-based cytology (LBC). DNA for genetic analysis was also obtained from patients and both their parents, using buccal swabs. Results: Pathology and cytology showed similar results, leading to the same diagnosis of hyperkeratotic epithelium with acanthosis and spongiosis, without atypia, demonstrating the efficiency of LBC for the differential diagnosis. Sequencing analysis revealed at least 6 rare variants in the KRT4 and KRT13 genes in each patient, contributed in part by both unaffected parents. Conclusions: Thin Prep for oral exfoliative cytology and genetic analysis are sufficient for an accurate diagnosis of WSN. The combination of cytological and genetic analyses could substitute the histologic exam, providing a non-invasive alternative for incisional biopsy.

Background: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is one of the most common cancers worldwide. A delay in the diagnosis of OSCC can have a drastic impact on management and patient outcomes. One of the most crucial elements in oral management is the timely histopathological final diagnosis. Turnaround time (TAT) is regarded as the most important component of the quality performance evaluation. Many labs have struggled to improve their TATs despite advancements in computerization, transport systems, and analytical technologies.  Aim: This study aimed to assess the TAT of OSCC cases, assess the mean TAT period, evaluate any TAT delays, and explore the reasons behind the TAT delays.  Materials and methods: OSCC reports in Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals, Chennai, for one year from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2022, were retrieved from the Dental Information Archival Software (DIAS), and the mean TAT was noted. Further, the number of cases with delay in TAT was also observed, and the reason for their delay was listed. Descriptive statistics and graphical representation were performed utilizing IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, V. 23.0 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA). One-way ANOVA was performed with a significance set at a p-value less than 0.05., Results: 230 OSCC cases were retrieved and included in the TAT evaluation for this study. Among 230 cases, 161 (70%) were incisional and 69 (30%) were excisional biopsies. Only seven (4%) incisional cases and seven (10%) excisional biopsies showed a delay in TAT. The most common reason for the delay in TAT was the requirement for deeper sections and decalcification of bone specimens. Out of 161 incisional cases, only 48 (29%) have undergone excision and further treatment. Twenty-one out of 69 (30%) excisional cases were found to be referral cases from other private institutions. The overall average TAT for 12 months was 3.24 ± 0.41 days for incisional biopsies and 11.88 ± 2.07 days for excisional biopsies. One-way ANOVA revealed a statistically significant p-value of less than 0.00001., Conclusion: Our study sheds light on specific challenges in TAT delay and opportunities for the improvement of TAT. This can result in faster TAT of OSCC reports, further improve patient care, and enable prompt treatment. This study quantified the TAT for OSCC cases and identified critical areas for process improvement. Hamartoma is a nonneoplastic proliferation of mature cells and tissues indigenous to the affected part. They are classified as lipomatous, neurogenic, vascular, angiomatous, etc., based on the predominance of tissue in them. This is a case of vascular hamartoma of the infrascapular region in a young male. He was evaluated elsewhere with magnetic resonance imaging and incisional biopsy and referred to our institute for further management. After initial contrast-enhanced computed tomography of the thorax, the mass was excised surgically with adequate margins and the wound was closed primarily. The final biopsy report of the mass showed a vascular hamartomatous lesion. Hence, hamartoma should be considered one of the differentials for a soft-tissue mass found anywhere in the body and proper preoperative imaging and planning of appropriate intervention is necessary [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
