Abstract

Isotopic ratios provide a powerful tool for understanding the origins of materials, including the volatile and refractory matter within solar system bodies. Recent high sensitivity observations of molecular isotopologues, in particular with ALMA, have brought us new information on isotopic ratios of hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen and oxygen in star and planet forming regions as well as the solar system objects. Solar system exploration missions, such as Rosetta and Cassini, have given us further new insights. Meanwhile, the recent development of sophisticated models for isotope chemistry including detailed gas-phase and grain surface reaction network has made it possible to discuss how isotope fractionation in star and planet forming regions is imprinted into the icy mantles of dust grains, preserving a record of the initial isotopic state of solar system materials. This chapter reviews recent progress in observations of molecular isotopologues in extra-solar planet forming regions, prestellar/protostellar cores and protoplanetary disks, as well as objects in our solar system -- comets, meteorites, and planetary/satellite atmospheres -- and discusses their connection by means of isotope chemical models., Comment: To appear in Protostars and Planets VII, University of Arizona Press, eds. We also evaluated the expression of CA IX in 27 patients diagnosed with osteosarcoma.Materials and methods: CA IX expression in SaOS2 cells cultured under different oxygen tensions was analyzed by Western blotting. To evaluate the effect of CA IX inhibitor, MTS cell viability assay was performed after cells were treated with various concentrations of doxorubicin with or without a CA IX inhibitor. Finally, CA IX expression in patient-derived osteosarcoma samples was evaluated by immunohistochemistry.Results: Treatment with CA IX inhibitor significantly suppressed cell proliferation and migration under hypoxic conditions. CA IX expression was observed in 81% of 27 patients. The 5-year survival rates in patients with high and low stain scores were 43.8% and 81.8%, respectively.Conclusion: CA IX inhibitors have the potential to suppress cell proliferation, migration, and chemoresistance. Abstract

Background: The prognosis of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) for non-remission hematological malignant diseases is usually unfavorable. The most uncontrollable factor is residual disease or relapse. To overcome this problem, intensified conditioning regimens- sequential and/or additional chemotherapy to the standard regimen- could be effective. However, increasing the intensity of conditioning might also lead to more complications. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 81 patients with non-remission disease who received allogeneic HSCT in our institution between 2007 and 2011. Results: 55.6% in 36 myeloablative conditioning patients and 46.7% in 45 reduced-intensity conditioning patients received intensified conditioning. The 5-year probability of overall survival was 35.0% and 17.1% in the standard and intensified group, respectively (p=0.027). Relapse mortality was 30% in the standard regimen group and 36.6% in the intensified regimen group (p=0.54). Transplant-related mortality (TRM) at 30 and 100 days was 5%, 17.1% (p=0.086) and 27.5%, 34.2% (p=0.52) in the standard and intensified group, respectively. There was no difference in TRM between the 2 groups at 30 days and 100 days. Conclusion: The results of the study confirm the safety of the intensified conditioning regimen. Meanwhile, it could be considered as one of the few methods available to reduce the tumor burden before HSCT for refractory malignant diseases.

Abstract

With the development of electrical machines for achieving higher performance and smaller size, heat generation in electrical machines has also increased. Consequently, the temperature rise in electrical machines causes unexpected heating of components and makes it difficult to operate properly. Therefore, in the development of electrical machines, the accurate evaluation of temperature increase is important. In the thermal design of electrical machines, heat-conduction analysis using the heat-transfer boundary set on the surface of a heated target has been frequently performed. However, because the heat-transfer coefficient is dependent on various factors, it is often determined based on experimental or numerical simulation results. Therefore, setting the heat-transfer coefficient to a constant value for the surface of the heated target degrades the analysis accuracy because the actual phenomenon cannot be modeled. To enhance the accuracy of the heat-transfer coefficient, the coupled electromagnetic field with heat-conduction analysis finite element method (FEM), thermal-fluid analysis using FEM, and the highly simplified marker and cell method is applied to the estimation of the distribution of the heat-transfer coefficient. Moreover, to accurately calculate the localized heat-transfer coefficient, the temperature distribution and flow velocity distribution around the heated target are analyzed in the induction-heating apparatus.
