The aim of this article is to elucidate the transfer of votes from the Popular Party to VOX, from the General Elections of April 2016 to the elections held in November 2019. Likewise, we will try to highlight how the emotional component is positioned as an explanatory factor of the vote for the extreme right-wing formation in Spain. For this purpose, a quantitative analysis will be carried out based on the data from the survey conducted by the Political Research Team of the University of Santiago de Compostela. The focus will be on positive emotions (presence and intensity) towards Pablo Casado, leader of the PP until 2022, and towards Santiago Abascal, leader of VOX. Likewise, the emotions of both electorates towards the two political formations indicated will also be analyzed. The main results show a clear emotional profile of the voters of the extreme right in Spain, both towards their leader and the party. With respect to the transfer of votes, it can be seen that the main source of votes for the extreme right comes from the PP., El objetivo del presente artículo radica en dilucidar el traspaso del voto del Partido Popular hacia VOX, desde las elecciones generales de junio de 2016 a los comicios celebrados en noviembre de 2019. Asimismo, se tratará de poner de relieve de qué modo el componente emocional se sitúa como un factor explicativo del voto a la formación de extrema derecha en España. Para ello, se llevará a cabo un análisis cuantitativo a partir de los datos de la encuesta realizada por el Equipo de Investigaciones Políticas de la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. Se pondrá el foco de atención en las emociones de carácter positivo (presencia e intensidad) hacia Pablo Casado, líder del PP hasta 2022, y hacia Santiago Abascal, líder de VOX. Asimismo, se analizarán las emociones de ambos electorados hacia las dos formaciones políticas indicadas. Los principales resultados manifiestan un claro perfil emocional de los votantes de la extrema derecha en España, tanto hacia su líder como al partido. El auge del movimiento independentista catalán ha despertado un amplio interés en los investigadores, especialmente entre aquellos vinculados a la ciencia política. La producción científica orientada al estudio de este fenómeno nos ha permitido conocer su alcance social, económico y político. Por ende, el presente artículo, lejos de analizar sus efectos en la opinión pública, dirige su atención hacia los partidos políticos secesionistas como agentes del importante cambio social que ha experimentado Cataluña en los últimos tiempos. Se trata, en definitiva, de una aproximación meramente metodológica que integra discurso y emociones. Mediante la aplicación de las técnicas de Sentiment Analysis determinaremos la evolución de las emociones en el relato secesionista entre los años 2010 y 2018., The rise of the Catalan independence movement has aroused wide interest among researchers, especially those linked to political science. The scientific production focused on the study of this phenomenon has allowed us to know its social, economic and political scope. Therefore, this article, far from analyzing its effects on public opinion, draw its attention to the secessionist political parties as agents of the important social change that Catalonia has experienced in recent times. It is, in short, a purely methodological approach that integrates discourse and emotions. By applying Sentiment Analysis techniques, we will determine the evolution of emotions in the secessionist narrative between 2010 and 2018.

The central objective of this research is to describe the role of emotions in their interaction with the media. It examines how selective exposure to the media is linked to how political emotions influence this process. The research reveals an emotional fracture in media consumers through anger. It is also observed that positive emotions towards leaders and political parties are activated in like-minded media consumers, whereas negative emotions arise when interacting with oppositely oriented media. The importance of positive emotions such as hope and their contrast with negative aversive emotions is highlighted. This study shows how political emotions influence the interaction between citizens and the media. The findings highlight the relevance of emotions in the formation of political attitudes and the configuration of media preferences, contributing to the discussion on the relationship between the media and emotions in contemporary society.
