Environmental and comfort value of renewable energy sources is a less studied area. The article introduce the economic value of these characteristics, related to social determinants. The data basis is representative of the Hungarian population above 18 years of age, by gender, age and level of education. Our model estimation was developed by hybrid choice context in latent class modelling. In addition to the usual WTP (willingness to pay) calculation, we also used WTI (willingness to invest) calculations. The results show that the value of environmentally-friendly nature in Hungary exceeds the convenience factor. The latter cannot be significantly detected for the majority of the Hungarian population. This statement is supported by results for both fuels and boilers. Our findings show the strong attachment of the Hungarian average person to the use of firewood and natural gas, which are very typical in Hungarian heat consumption. Regarding socially selected consumer groups, strong correlation can be observed between social capital supply, income level, access to information and environmental awareness in Hungary. Regarding policy implications, our results in development of clusters may be useful for the establishment of a selective support policy and two clearly identifiable groups should be highlighted in the energy policy.

Tanulmányunkban az ukrajnai falvakban élő magyar kisebbségek gyermekes háztartásainak helyzetét mutatjuk be, az általunk készített kvalitatív és kvantitatív kutatások eredményei alap-ján. A feltáró kutatásban 23 interjú készült, a kérdőíves kutatás során pedig összesen 139 ház-tartásról és 253 gyermekről nyertünk adatokat. A háztartások életszínvonala és deprivációs jel-lemzői alapján mutatjuk be a gyermekes háztartások szegénységét. Elemzésünk központi elemei azok a sajátos munkaerőpiaci helyzetek, jövedelemszerzési lehetőségek, munkavégzési formák, melyek a gyermekes háztartások számára a megélhetést biztosítják. A kutatásban vizsgált tér-ség problémáin túl bemutatásra kerülnek azok a stratégiák, élethelyzetek, amelyek a kárpát-aljai magyarságot jellemzik, és amelyek túlmutatnak az ismert európai szegénységi formákon.

Tanulmányomban a kisfalvakban élő, alacsony iskolázottságú és szegény sorsú fiatalok mobili- tásának és mobilitási hajlandóságának hiányát vizsgálom. Arra keresem a választ, hogy a leg- rosszabb helyzetű fiatalok miért nem költöznek el a falujukból jobb munka- és életlehetőségeket, jobb perspektívákat kínáló térségekbe. A tanulmány kitér a családi életükre és a szülőkhöz fűző- dő viszony értelmezésére is, ezen keresztül a falvakban maradást befolyásoló kötődéseikre. Az elemzés legfőbb kérdése, hogy az ezekben az elszegényedett falvakban élő fiatalok immobilitása önkéntes vagy kényszerek által irányított, racionális döntés vagy sodródás eredménye? A feltárt összefüggések szerint az elszegényedett földrajzi környezetben élő falusi fiatalok mobilitásának hiánya nem szabad döntések következménye. Az eredmények szerint egy sodródó, saját életét nem irányító társadalmi csoport, amelynek tagjai nem ismerik a körülöttük lévő tágabb világot, tájékozatlan, függő helyzetű, másoknak kiszolgáltatott, egyszerű reciprocitásra épülő életvilág- ban élő, és ebben az értelemben kirekesztődött társadalmi csoport.

A vidéken élő emberek immobilitásának okait és jelenségeit a nemzetközi szakirodalom első- sorban az elvándorlási motivációk és a betelepülések következményein keresztül vizsgálja. Ta- nulmányunk első felében ezeket a kutatási eredményeket ismertetjük. Bemutatjuk a szegénység és immobilitás összefüggéseit, áttekintjük a mezőgazdaság és a területi mobilitás kapcsolatát, elsősorban a falusi vállalkozások funkcióin keresztül. Kitérünk a migráció után visszatérő fiata- lok (return migration) helyzetére, akik elsősorban hosszabb távú tanulás és/vagy munkakeresés után települnek vissza a falujukba. Áttekintjük a strukturális teóriákat, amelyek elsősorban a különböző tőkefajták szerint magyarázzák a vándorlást, és a vidék megváltozott percepciójá- nak hatását is értelmezik. A magyar falusi fiatalok immobilitásának jellemzőit, és a 2010–2017 között megfigyelhető elvándorlási trendeket idősoros társadalomstatisztikai eredmények alap- ján értelmezzük. Tanulmányunk második felében az MTA Mobilitás Kutatási Centrum kutatási programja keretében készült elemzések eredményeit ismertetjük. A tanulmányok és esettanul- mányok vizsgálják a társas kapcsolatok szerepét az immobilitásban, a kistelepülésen élő fiatalok foglalkozási karakterét és ezek kötődést befolyásoló hatását. Értelmezik a fiatalok mobilitástör- téneteit, identitásuk szociális reprezentációját, a sikeresség kategóriáit, a szegénység hatásait, a családi kötöttségeket, az immobil fiatalok jövőképét, valamint a települések társadalmi-területi jellemzőinek következményeit.

A 19. század végi ipari forradalom okozta gazdasági és társadalmi átalakulás számos változást hozott Magyarországon. Az infrastruktúra és a közlekedés fejlődése lehetővé tette a nők számára, hogy új munkalehetőségekhez jussanak, elhagyják a hagyományos közösségeket és új életformákat próbáljanak ki. Magyarországon a cselédtartás továbbra is társadalmi szokás maradt, és még a két világháború között is sokakat érintett.

Tomka Béla érdeklődése a jóléti államok, azok intézményei és a jóléti modellek iránt publikációiban a 2000-es évek óta nyomon követhetők. Legutolsó, 2009-es, nagyobb lélegzetvételű, könyvként is megjelent összefoglalója után1 jelen kötet egy, a korábban már kisebb tanulmányok, illetve könyvfejezetek formájában körüljárt probléma, a jóléti állam és annak intézményei kérdéskörét vizsgálja európai és történeti perspektívában. Bár több kiváló könyv áll rendelkezésre a témában, a kötet mégis egyfajta hiánypótló szerepet tölt be a nagyívű, történeti perspektívákat is átölelő, a szociálpolitikai gondolkodást meghatározó értékeket és társadalomtörténeti összefüggéseket, valamint gazdaságtani hatásokat is érintő gondolatmenete eredményeként.

A világban végbemenő változások közül az egyének számára azok a legfontosabbak, amelyek a magánéletükben történnek – a kapcsolatokban, családban, házasságban, szerelemben és szexualitásban (Jamieson 2011). Napjainkban az egyéni életút mérföldköveinek sorrendje már tetszőlegesen felcserélhető vagy kihagyható, nem létezik a korábbiakhoz hasonlóan minden emberre érvényes értékrend (Giddens 1999) és nem létezik minden ember számára ideális családforma sem.

The study presents through international examples of how the security and quality of life of elderly and disabled people can be enhanced. 12 partners in eight Central European countries carried out pilot activities within the framework of the HELPS project. The aim of this international project is to contribute to the decrease of the social exclusion of elderly, and to elaborate practises through which seniors would not be constraint to institutional care, and can live in their homes on a longer term. The study presents the outcomes of these pilots and the ensuing primary experiences. The presented innovative solutions offer possibilities in various fields (housing, services, career, practises, information of relatives) for the home care of elderly and people living with disabilities. Prior to the elaboration and put into practice of the development ideas and plans, the partners evaluated the health care system and related services offered to elderly and disabled people in their homeland. The analyses revealed those shortage areas, where further developments would increase the possibility to keep and care for the target group in their homes.

A szakértők régóta vizsgálják a női munkavállalásban történt változások hatását az amerikai családok életére. Az 1970 és 2001 közötti időszakban a gyermeküket egyedül nevelő vagy párkapcsolatban élő, huszonöt és negyvennégy év közötti nők körében a foglalkoztatottsági ráta 43 százalékról 71 százalékra emelkedett. A családok számára a női munkavállalási kedv emelkedése egyet jelentett azzal, hogy a nők otthoni és egyéb, nem piaci tevékenysége a fizetett piaci munka irányába tolódott el. Ennek következményeként sok család csak úgy képes megoldani a gyermek ellátását, hogy fizetett szolgáltatást vesz igénybe. Ebben a tanulmányban, a témában meghatározó tanulmányok elemzésével, (1) a munka- és a gyermekvállalás stratégiáit vesszük górcső alá az egyedülálló és a párkapcsolatban élő anyák körében (2), valamint azt, hogy a munkavállaló anyák távollétének milyen következményei vannak a gyermek fejlődésére. Tanulmányunkban mindezeken felül bemutatjuk a gyermekvállalás időzítését és az első gyermek megszületése körüli munkavállalási trendeket is, különös tekintettel a 25 és 44 év közötti, a gyermekvállalás és gyermeknevelés aktív időszakában lévő nők munkaerő-piaci jelenlétére, továbbá a nők és a férfiak házimunkában és a gyermek gondozásában vállalt szerepére.

This article discusses the use of drones in Hungary and considers their future penetration, based on the responses to a nationally representative 2021 questionnaire among 200 large-scale farmers engaged in precision farming and in crop production. Both the applied trans-theoretical model (with ordinal logit regression model) and the questionnaire design are suitable for comparison with the results of a similar survey in Germany. In this study, similar results were found for farm size, age, main job and education, but the evidence that higher education in agriculture has the largest positive effect on the use of drones is a novelty. The frequency values obtained for adopting precision technology elements are not fully suitable for classification due to interpretational shortcomings. The use of drones within precision technologies is no longer negligible (17%), but is nevertheless expected to grow significantly due to continuous innovation and the selective application of inputs. The state could play a major role in future uptake, particularly in the areas of training and harmonisation of legislation.

This paper focuses on the economic and statistical evaluation of the production technology findings of the polyfactorial maize production experiments carried out between 2015-2017 at the Látókép Experiment Site of the University of Debrecen, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management. The examined agrotechnical factors included irrigation, previous crop, tillage, crop density, hybrid and N nutrient supply, while the effect of different crop years was taken into consideration. In addition to descriptive statistical methods, we used multivariate regression analysis during the statistical evaluation. In the course of the evaluation, we examined three models that differed in terms of tillage methods and the consideration of crop year. In our best fit model, the factors were 71% responsible for the change in yield value. We carried out efficiency and comparative analyses in the course of the economic evaluation. Averaged over the three examined years, it can be stated that nutrient supply and crop year had an outstanding effect on yield, while irrigation had a minimal effect. However, global warming may justify irrigation in the future, not only from a biological point of view, but also from an economic aspect. Ideal tillage is also greatly affected by crop year, too. Altogether, of the examined tillage systems, subsoiling proved to be the best from an economic point of view. Our investigations confirm that it is better to perform intensive farming under more favourable market conditions. The optimum of N fertilisation is probably outside of the range we examined, if the extreme changes in maize and fertiliser prices are ignored. JEL Classification: Q16, Q12, Q13, O32

Precision farming may play an important role in agricultural innovation. The study focuses on the attitude of Hungarian farmers toward precision farming. Based on the relevant technical literature, we performed a nationally representative questionnaire survey of 594 farmers and deep interviews with experts and farmers (30 persons). As regards the questionnaire, the authors found that the management of the average farm size in Hungary has the highest willingness to innovate and the second highest level of education among the developed clusters. The survey shows undertrained farmers with large farms to be the second most open group, which may result in the partial application of precision farming techniques. One of the most unexpected results of the Precision Farmers’ cluster is that the positive socio-economic utility of precision farming is rated as extremely low. In-depth interviews prove that the use of precision technologies does not increase local social cohesion. Strong organisational isolation of precision farmers prevents the spread of innovation knowledge and precision farming amongst the farming community, and the challenges of competitiveness alone do not force farmers to apply precision farming. Our results may be useful for the establishment of agricultural strategy.

The basic question of our research is what crop-producing farmers know about PF (precision farming), and how economic value and social factors motivate the acceptance and implementation of PF. We conducted a cross-sectional survey, using standardized questionnaires, in 2018, that was nationally representative of Hungarian crop producers. Besides this, we conducted 30 semi-structured interviews about the meaning of PF, with the farmers who use PF in practice. They defined it as a tool of strategic planning, to serve input savings, using state-of-the-art technologies. Based on the questionnaire, we found that the farmers currently applying PF do not seem to have such a significant impact on the agricultural society that would make others want to move to precision technology, following their example. As a result of the factor analysis, we could differentiate direct and indirect factors. Potential human resources are undereducated, their willingness to improve their knowledge is low, and the level of cooperation ability is low, making it excessively difficult, or even impossible, to acquire the equipment necessary for a technology switch and to purchase the necessary services. It can be concluded that age, production, and technical usefulness carries greater weight over things like monetary factors, productivity of cultivated land, knowledge capital, and willingness of Hungarian farmers to cooperate.

In our paper, we present the reasons for and characteristics of the increasing migration of graduate women, mostly undertaken alone. In Hungary, in the context of the acceleration of migration experienced after 2010, two phenomena can be observed: (1) Due to positive selection a high proportion of well-trained young graduates have moved to live abroad; (2) over the past few years, a higher proportion of those migrating for work have been female graduates in their maternity age. Thus, not only is the process of weakening of the male dominance among the emigrants clearly perceptible, but a Hungary-related version of the feminization of the brain drain phenomenon due to the labor market demand of the host countries is also evolving. In this study, we examine the motivations of graduate women to work abroad and the success of their integration. Our qualitative study examines motivations for migration among college graduate females, who are just starting their career. We have explored social forces that influence emigration among the highest educated. We have also studied integration and assimilation strategies among Hungarian women working in the European Union. Our findings contribute to and extend research that focuses on push and pull factors in migration, as well as the interpretation of gender differences in migration, especially among the highest educated.
