Research background: The European Union has accumulated significant experience of consolidated economic cooperation over the 28-year history of development. There are the prerequisites for building rational interactions with the Eurasian Economic Union. Significant amount of theoretical and practical data has been accumulated; its analysis allows making conclusions about the intensity of economic cooperation of the European Union with all member states of the Eurasian Economic Union and the prospects for the further development of partnership relations in the future. Purpose of the article: The aim of the article is to identify the prospects for the development of integration associations on the example of the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union in modern conditions characterized by the spread of a new coronavirus infection and the preservation of a complicated geopolitical situation. Methods: The results of the study were obtained using general scientific methods of cognition (induction and deduction, methods of dialectics, analysis and synthesis), analytical research methods (logical and comparative analysis, analysis of economic and statistical indicators), methods of scientific forecasting and expert assessments. Findings & Value added: The article submits the current state of integration economic relations analysis results on the example of the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union as the largest economic and political associations. The analysis of the state and dynamics of the integration associations development, as well as the conditions of their functioning, makes it possible to define the current trends in the development of integration associations and their determining factors.

The article actualizes the problem on transition of the Russian economy to the path of technological development that can provide a fundamentally different quality of economic growth. The state innovation policy is uncovered from the standpoint of stimulation of advanced development of essentially new hi-tech economy sectors and markets, carrying out deep technological modernization of traditional industry branches and productions. The management quality of digital transformation of business is considered as a reasonable necessity in the conditions of large-scale and deep technification of society. The article reveals contemporary concepts and peculiarities of the Russia's approach to the implementation of technological breakthrough, as well as provides description of the program documents at the national and regional levels targeted on the development of the digital economy. The authors outline the range of tasks in the field of digital transformation, specifying the timing of their implementation and expected results, as well as offer the model of digital maturity of business and present the evidence of existing interrelations between corporate financial indicators of the company and the level of its digital maturity. The conclusion is made about the necessity and inevitability of Russia's transition to a new development model, which will be found on knowledge-based and innovation-driven high-tech industries. It is emphasized that the digital transformation should become a national idea, the practical embodiment of which in each national company and the entire Russian economy will allow rapidly transiting to the correct path of sustainable development and restoring technological leadership in the global space. The article actualizes the need to improve the quality of corporate governance in the corporate sector of the Russian economy based on public joint stock companies with state participation. It also defines the role of the quality of corporate governance at the level of companies and the economy in general. Then it shows the backlog of corporate governance practice in companies with state participation as compared to the listed companies in the field of information disclosure, government and administrative performance, corporate social responsibility, ensuring the rights of shareholders. The authors of the present article analyze the results of an independent quality evaluation of corporate governance, focusing on implementation of the basic recommendations of the Corporate Governance Code of 2014. Then the article addresses the main aspects of corporate governance relating to the ownership structure and characteristics of shareholders' activity; information support for shareholders' general meetings; activities of the boards of directors; effective dividend policy and the role of the board of directors; auditing and internal control; remuneration of members of the board of directors and management board; assessment of investors' perception of the quality of corporate governance. The authors conceptualize new content on the agenda for the board of directors - examining priority activities and topical issues, the answers to which require innovative solutions given the onset of the fourth industrial revolution and technification of economy. The article also describes new formats of the board of directors' practices. In the end, it is concluded that it is necessary to use an innovative approach to improve the quality of corporate governance, which should become a powerful engine of growth for the Russian economy. The article shows the results of analyzing the business environment formed in the Russian economy during the period of 2011-2016 and worsened by the anti-Russian sanctions. It reveals the impact of macroeconomic factors on the state of the entrepreneurial environment in Russia that has features of stagnation, and basic geopolitical and economic events as a determinant of negative tendencies in the economic environment of the country. It gives the analysis of the dynamics of the entrepreneurial environment and the comparative analysis of the main problems of the Russian business, taking into account the temporal factor in the context of their dominating impact on Russian companies in terms of a region and a sector, as well as depending on the business size. The article considers the innovation environment of the Russian entrepreneurship, reveals basic barriers of the innovation activity of domestic companies. It shows basic areas of forming a new innovation reality of the Russian economy and makes the conclusion about the need of Russia to move to a new technological mode and existence of prerequisites of the Russian economy innovative development. It defines economic changes as a real implementation of the model of the country's innovative development that takes into account the leading trends of the economic development on the national and global markets. This paper addresses the need for the innovation-driven development of the Russian economy in reliance on large business and regional innovation-driven development. The authors provide a rationale for the need to develop the national and regional innovation systems and bring to light their strengths and weaknesses based on assessments by experts from around the world; conduct an analysis of innovation activity within the corporate sector, provide a description of the architectonics of innovation activity by corporate establishments amid the impact of global challenges, and stress the need to develop the nation's open innovation model and put together a wide field of communications encompassing small and medium-sized enterprises within the area of presence; conceptualize a cluster approach to boosting regional innovation activity and its feasibility in Russian reality; provide a characterization of the key preconditions for the formation of innovation clusters, their structure, objectives, and principles of operation; conduct a comparative analysis of the major types of clusters as production agglomerations and as network ecosystems and stress the promise of the innovation mechanism of clusters' operation based on the Triple Helix model; provide a description of the top priorities for Russia's cluster policy and touch upon its transformation amid the current complicated geopolitical situation and sanction restrictions; come to the conclusion about the inevitability of Russia becoming one of the world's top innovatively developed economic powerhouses and propose a set of activities aligned with the ideology of the upward-trending development scenario that are aimed at creating the optimum conditions for the engagement of all economic agents in innovation activity and filling the economy with innovationrelated content.
