This study reveals the long-term effects of several variables on Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) in Islamic banks (IBs) and conventional banks (CBs) in Malaysia. Using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) technique, the study supports a proactive approach and finds a persistent association between NPLs and asset quality, loan quality, unemployment rate, and inflation rate. Using the ARDL approach, the analysis covers the monthly period from 2018 to early 2021. This study aims to investigate NPLs at two different times: before and after the COVID-19 epidemic. The findings indicate that The ARDL model identifies Loan Quality 1 and 2 as significant influencers of NPLs in Malaysia's CBs. At the same time, asset quality and the unemployment rate show no significant impact. In contrast, IBs show a strong positive correlation between Asset Quality and NPL, with economic factors like the Unemployment Rate and Inflation Rate significantly affecting NPL, reflecting the unique risk-sharing nature of Islamic finance. Social media advertisements can influence consumers' purchasing preferences by impacting their awareness, attitude, trust, and intention towards the advertised products, services, or brands. This study aims to achieve two objectives: firstly, to determine the correlation between independent variables (security, privacy, product features, social influence, and promotion) and secondly, to examine the relationship between independent variables and dependent variables (online shopping purchasing preference among shoppers in Nilai). Convenience sampling was used to collect survey data, with questionnaires distributed through various online platforms to respondents residing in Nilai. A total of 272 responses were collected. The study utilized a Pearson correlation model and multiple linear regression to achieve the objectives. The R-squared value of 0.564 indicates that the model can explain almost half of the variability in the dependent variables. The results reveal no negative correlations among the independent variables. The weakest correlation observed is between promotion and product features at 0.392. Conversely, the strongest correlation is between security and privacy, with a coefficient of 0.703, indicating a significant influence of security on privacy. In the multiple linear regression model, four independent variables—security, product features, social influence, and promotion—significantly impact the dependent variable. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Congkak is a traditional counting game played in Southeast Asia including Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia. To start a game, a board that has 16 holes together with 98 marbles are required. Each player controls a set of seven holes and own a store. The winner of the game is the player who captured more marbles into the store at the end of the game. Note that the firstmove advantage exists in chess; we investigate if the first-move advantage holds in congkak also. We model the route for each player in congkak using a directed graph and adopt these graph representations in our programs, to compute the winning percentage of each player. We focus on games between novices, hence a randomised strategy is used in our algorithm. We present the first experimental results for 100,000 games between novices in congkak. A Heron triangle is a triangle that has three rational sides $(a,b,c)$ and a rational area, whereas a perfect triangle is a Heron triangle that has three rational medians $(k,l,m)$. Finding a perfect triangle was stated as an open problem by Richard Guy [Unsolved Problems in Number Theory (Springer, New York, 1981)]. Heron triangles with two rational medians are parametrized by the eight curves $C_{1},\ldots ,C_{8}$ mentioned in Buchholz and Rathbun ['An infinite set of heron triangles with two rational medians', Amer. Math. Monthly 104(2) (1997), 106–115; 'Heron triangles and elliptic curves', Bull. Aust. Math.Soc. 58 (1998), 411–421] and Bácskái et al. [Symmetries of triangles with two rational medians, http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/summary?doi=10.1.1.65.6533, 2003]. In this paper, we reveal results on the curve $C_{4}$ which has the property of satisfying conditions such that six of seven parameters given by three sides, two medians and area are rational.
