In this paper, we introduce a new class of generalized contractive mappings to establish a fixed point theorem for this class of mappings in complete quasimetric spaces. In fact, at first we present the notion of ordered cyclic weakly (ψ, ϕ, A, B)- contraction and then we establish a fixed point theorem for such mappings in complete ordered s-quasimetric spaces. This can be considered as an improvement of some old fixed point theorems in the literature. In this paper, we introduce the operator approach for orthogonality in linear spaces. In particular, we represent the concept of orthogonal vectors using an operator associated with them, in normed spaces. Moreover, we investigate some of continuity properties of this kind of orthogonality. The aim of the present study is to develop closed-form formulations for predicting the ultimate compressive and tensional strength of stiffened steel panels with crack damages. At first, a numerical database is generated. This database includes the ultimate strength levels of stiffened steel panels with cracks subjected to axial compressive or tensile loads. It was carried out with a series of nonlinear FEM analyses by varying the size of crack damage. Then, based on this numerical database, regression analysis is used for deriving the empirical formulations. While there have been many number of studies about best approximation in some spaces, there has been little work on pre-Hilbert C* -modules. Here we provide such a study that leads to a number of approximation theorems. In particular, some results about existence and uniqueness of best approximation of submodules on Hilbert C* -modules are also presented. This will be done by considering the C* -algebra valued map x → |x| where |x| = (x,x)½. Also we show that when K is a convex subset of a pre- Hilbert C* -module X; it is a Chebyshev set willbedonebyconsideringthewith respect to C*-valued norm which is defined on X. Introduction: The exact amount of vitamin D required for pregnant women to adequately supply the foetus during pregnancy is still unclear. This randomised trial attempted to determine the optimal dose of vitamin D necessary during pregnancy in order to attain a vitamin D level > 20 ng/mL in neonates.Methods: A total of 51 healthy, pregnant women in Yazd, Iran, were recruited in 2009. Of these, 34 were randomised to receive either 50,000 IU (Group A) or 100,000 IU (Group B) of vitamin D3 per month from the second trimester of pregnancy. The remaining 17 pregnant women, who formed the third group (Group C) and were found to have vitamin D deficiency, were initially treated with 200,000 IU of vitamin D3, following which the dose was adjusted to 50,000 IU per month. 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]D) in cord blood was measured by chemiluminescence immunoassay, and a serum 25(OH)D level < 20 ng/mL was defined as deficiency.Results: All the pregnant women had a vitamin D level < 30 ng/mL at the beginning of the second trimester. The neonates of 76% of women from Group A had sufficient levels of 25(OH)D. All the neonates born to women in Groups B and C had 25(OH)D > 20 ng/mL. No side effects were observed in our participants during the period of vitamin D supplementation.Conclusion: A vitamin D3dose > 50,000 IU/month is required during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy for vitamin D-deficient pregnant women in order for their neonates to achieve serum 25(OH)D levels > 20 ng/mL. Supplementation with < 50,000 IU/month is insufficient to ensure a vitamin D level > 20 ng/mL in all neonates born to vitamin D-deficient pregnant women. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Chicken meat is widely consumed and it is the most common and popular poultry species in the world. The preference and consumption of chicken meat have been tremendously increasing in Malaysia. About 120 respondents who took part in the study were classified into four groups namely routine chicken eaters, chicken likers, chicken lovers with a health concern and real chicken lovers based on their preference and consumption of chicken meat. It is worthwhile to mention that the taste, price, and easy to cook were statistically significant between the four groups. In addition, race moderates the relationship with Malays dominating the chicken lovers' category. It is interesting to observe that Malays prefer chicken meat with chilies, Chinese prefer chicken meat with sauce and Indians prefer chicken meat with salad. The findings of the study are useful to the broiler plants and agencies that are responsible in selling chicken meat. Further, the results may be used as a guide to the selection of chicken meat, and also to the restaurant owners in the selection of food to be offered to their consumers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Social welfare is considered a part of human life and culture and the development of humanitarian theories with emphasis on the responsibility of all towards each other as well as the development of social and biological sciences has been effective in the emergence of new attitudes about social welfare and poverty reduction. The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of Ganjai Khan endowments in the social welfare of Kerman citizens with a poverty reduction approach. Methods: The study was all citizens over 18 years of age in Kerman. Based on this, using Cochran's formula, 384 people were selected as the sample size (this number was increased to 400, and finally 390 were used in the final analysis). Sampling was performed based on multistage clusters between regions, blocks and finally Kerman households. Data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire (based on themes taken from the qualitative part). Descriptive statistics such as mean and frequency percentage were used to describe the main variables of the research and Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate regression and confirmatory factor analysis were used to examine the relationships between variables. Data were analyzed using Spss and Amos software. Results: The results of multivariate regression test showed that 0.410 of citizens' social welfare can be explained based on endowment management, which will result in poverty reduction. Regarding the value of standard beta coefficients of each variable, the coefficient of priority goes back to the needs, which is 0.452. The lowest value is related to the organizational innovation variable which is 0.004. This value is 0.338 for management variability, 0.423 for specialized knowledge, 0.431 for understanding endowments and finally 0.327 for organizational capability. Conclusion: The results of this study show that Ganjali Khan endowments have an important role in the objective and psychological well-being of Kermani citizens and have an important role in reducing poverty. This study examines the effects of a 5-week program of neurofeedback combined with somatosensory exercises on balance and physical performance in older adults, with the goal of addressing age-related declines in sensory processing and motor function. Sixty older adult men with balance disorders were randomly assigned to one of three groups: neurofeedback combined with somatosensory training, somatosensory training alone, or a control group. The interventions were administered over 5 weeks, with participants attending three sessions per week. Assessments were conducted both before and after the intervention period, including measurements of static balance using the Stork test, dynamic balance using the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test, and physical performance using the Continuous Scale Physical Functional Performance-10 (CS-PFP-10) test. The findings revealed significant improvements in balance and physical performance among participants who received either neurofeedback combined with somatosensory training or somatosensory training alone. Specifically, the Stork test (with both open and closed eyes) showed significant increases in duration, while the TUG test indicated reductions in completion times for both intervention groups (p = 0.001), suggesting enhanced balance and mobility. Additionally, the CS-PFP-10 test results demonstrated a significant difference following the interventions (p = 0.001). These findings suggest that incorporating neurofeedback training into somatosensory exercises may provide additional benefits for older adults in improving balance and mobility., (© 2024.
