3. A multi-objective path computation approach for software defined internet of underwater things.

Advances in the Internet of Things (IoT) and underwater communications have led to extensive research in academia and industry in recent years to implement underwater applications. The successful operation of these applications depends on the use of efficient communication protocols and solutions. Given the dynamic and bandwidth-limited nature of underwater communications, the use of condition-aware routing techniques can mitigate some of these limitations. In this paper, we propose a multi-objective path computation approach for underwater IoT networks that aims to balance energy consumption and maximize network throughput. The proposed mechanism leverages the benefits of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) architecture to collect information about the coordinates of underwater nodes and then calculates the optimal paths to the destination node using a multi-objective mathematical model. Once the paths are calculated, the underwater nodes send data packets towards the destination based on the calculated paths. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed solution increases the throughput of the network while balancing energy consumption compared to baseline methods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Indonesia Engineers Association has used Microsoft Dynamics Axapta (AX) enterprise resource planning (ERP) software as its operational support system. However, there are obstacles that are obstacles to completing business processes effectively by users, which have an impact on declining work performance and not achieving company targets. In addition, for the next 3 years, IT solutions are also needed to be able to support business development in the company. The implementation of Enterprise Architecture is expected to be the answer for the Indonesia Engineers Association in the next 3 years, so that the company can be more productive and develop as well as there is alignment between the business strategies owned by the company to optimize the use of information systems and information technology owned by the Indonesia Engineers Association. The basis for choosing using the TOGAF ADM method in designing Enterprise Architecture is that TOGAF ADM has a complete methodology, clear and structured stages, so that the design and specifications become easier and reduce the implementation risks faced by the Indonesia Engineers Association. This research is expected to provide insights for policymakers and enterprise architecture practitioners in selecting and implementing the framework that best suits the context and needs of their organizations. In addition, this study also provides recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the implementation of enterprise architecture in the Indonesia Engineers Association. To preserve handwritten historical documents, libraries are choosing to digitize them, ensuring their longevity and accessibility. However, the true value of these digitized images lies in their transcription into a textual format. In recent years, various tools have been developed utilizing both traditional and AI-based models to address the challenges of deciphering handwritten texts. Despite their importance, there are still several obstacles to overcome, such as the need for scalable and modular solutions, as well as the ability to cater to a continuously growing user community autonomously. This study focuses on introducing a new information fusion architecture, specifically highlighting the Gateway API. Developed as part of the μDoc.tS research program, this architecture aims to convert digital images of manuscripts into electronic text, ensuring secure and efficient routing of requests from front-end applications to the back end of the information system. The validation of this architecture demonstrates its efficiency in handling a large volume of requests and effectively distributing the workload. One significant advantage of this proposed method is its compatibility with everyday devices, eliminating the need for extensive computational infrastructures. It is believed that the scalability and modularity of this architecture can pave the way for a unified multi-platform solution, connecting diverse user environments and databases. 7. An effective two-stage channel pruning method based on two-dimensional information entropy.

Channel pruning can reduce the number of neural network parameters and computational cost by eliminating redundant channels, its main purpose is to adapt to resource constrained devices. Evaluation-based global pruning and network search-based pruning are two common methods of channel pruning. However, the network architecture pruned by the global mask is often not optimal, while the method that directly searches for the optimal architecture will introduce a large number of hyperparameters, which greatly increases the training cost. In this paper, we propose a novel Two-dimensional information Entropy based Channel Pruning method (TECP). The pruning process consists of two steps. First, a global mask pruning scheme is employed to obtained a pre-pruning model. Then, the two-dimensional information entropy is calculated by using feature maps of dense network to adjust the pre-pruning model adaptively to get a compact network. Moreover, the entropy values are used to determine the minimum number of reserved channels per layer based on to avoid the imbalance of network architecture and the layer collapse caused by global pruning. Extensive experiments with a variety of networks on several datasets clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed TECP method. For example, results show that on CIFAR-10, the compressed model achieves comparable accuracy to the original model, but with a significantly lower number of parameters (44.29% for ResNet-20 and 46.79% for VGG-16). This is beneficial for industrial deployment. And experimental results also show that TECP method obtain the better performance compared with state-of-the-art method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

8. Directed Topic Extraction with Side Information for Sustainability Analysis.

Topic analysis represents each document in a text corpus in a low-dimensional latent topic space. In some cases, the desired topic representation is subject to specific requirements or guidelines constituting side information. For instance, sustainability-aware investors might be interested in automatically assessing aspects of firm sustainability based on the textual content of its corporate reports, focusing on the established 17 UN sustainability goals. The main corpus consists of the corporate report texts, while the texts containing the definitions of the 17 UN sustainability goals represent the side information. Under the assumption that both text corpora share a common low-dimensional subspace, we propose representing them in such a space via directed topic extraction using matrix co-factorization. Both the main and the side text corpora are first represented as term–context matrices, which are then jointly decomposed into word–topic and topic–context matrices. The word–topic matrix is common to both text corpora, whereas the topic–context matrices contain specific representations in the shared topic space. A nuisance parameter, which allows us to shift the focus between the error minimization of individual factorization terms, controls the extent to which the side information is taken into account. With our approach, documents from the main and the side corpora can be related to each other in the resulting latent topic space. That is, the corporate reports are represented in the same latent topic space as the descriptions of the 17 UN sustainability goals, enabling a structured automatic sustainability assessment of the textual report's content. The concepts of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design are very important for making library websites that are easy to use, efficient, and interesting. This essay looks at how UX/UI methods can be used to make library websites better for everyone who visits them. Libraries can make users much happier and more interested by adding easy-to-use menus, adaptable design, and information that everyone can access. The study stresses how important it is to fully understand user needs through in-depth research and user testing. This helps with the planning process to make sure the website matches what users want and how they behave. Along with UI aspects like layout, font, and color schemes, key UX concepts like usefulness, accessibility, and beauty are talked about. The study shows examples of library websites that have successfully implemented these ideas, showing real changes in how users interact with and are satisfied with the sites. The paper talks about typical problems libraries have when trying to make these changes, like not having enough money or the right technology, and gives useful suggestions and answers. By using a user-centered design approach, libraries can make websites that not only do what they're supposed to do, but also make using them fun and easy. This makes the library an even more important resource in the digital age, serving a wide range of people with different wants and needs. Finally, using UX/UI principles on library websites is proven to be an important part of making sure these platforms are not only useful, but also friendly and easy to use. 10. Navigating an Online Bookstore: User Experience Insights from Eye-Tracking and Think-Aloud.

Navigating online bookstores and library catalogues for leisure reading can be challenging, especially when people want to engage in a more exploratory and serendipitous search. This study investigated how users navigate and select novels in an online bookstore environment, focusing on the impact of individual user interface elements and information architecture on their experience. Employing a combination of screen recordings with eye-tracking and concurrent think-aloud, the study examined user interactions to understand their navigation patterns, emotional responses, and perceptions related to various interface elements and functionalities. We created path visualizations through qualitative analysis representing participants' actions and pages visited during search sessions. Additionally, search behavior was examined using eye-tracking data from the results list page. Users' emotions and perceptions expressed during concurrent thinkaloud were then mapped to specific elements and features of the tested online bookstore. Preliminary findings indicate that negative emotions experienced during the search and selection process were predominantly linked to insufficient metadata and resulting usability issues, which impacted user experience and evoked feelings of distrust and frustration. This was especially pronounced when participants compared their experiences with those on similar platforms. The study highlights the critical role of high-quality, consistent book metadata in meeting user expectations. Effective metadata not only facilitates easier navigation and selection of novels, but also increases the likelihood of users revisiting the online bookstore. Our study contributes to a deeper understanding of digital browsing behaviors in selecting leisure reading and offers insights for designing more useful user interfaces. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

12. Importance Ranking of Usability Indicators for Second-Hand Trading Applications Based on Exploratory Factor Analysis—Analytic Hierarchy Process toward Sustainable Development.

In contemporary society, excessive energy consumption and rapid product development cycles are seen as significant barriers to sustainable development. Second-hand trading apps have emerged as a solution to this issue that allow the extension of the lifecycle of products to reduce resource consumption and waste generation. This study aims to support the design and development of second-hand trading apps by establishing and prioritizing usability indicators. To this end, we assembled a team of 20 experts and initially identified usability indicators using the Delphi method. Then, data from surveys of 412 users were analyzed using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) to reduce dimensions, and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to finally rank the relative importance and priority of these indicators. The results show that of the Level 1 indicators, safety and privacy, learning and operation, and information architecture are relatively highly prioritized. For the Level 2 indicators, property protection, page information architecture, privacy protection, ease of use, and efficiency ranked highly in terms of composite weight priority. The findings of this study will aid in the usability evaluation and enhancement of future second-hand trading apps. By optimizing app usability, increasing user engagement, and thereby boosting the rate of second-hand product purchases, this research contributes positively to the sustainable development of the environment by reducing waste generation. 13. Design Indirections: How Designers Find Their Ways in Shaping Algorithmic Systems.

Digital products and services now commonly include algorithmic personalization or recommendation features. This has raised concerns of reduced user agency and their unequal treatment. Previous research hence called for increasing the participation of, among others, designers in the development of these features. To achieve this, researchers have suggested the development of better educational material and tools to enable prototyping with data and machine learning models. However, previous studies also suggest designers may find other ways to impact the development and implementation of such features, for instance through collaboration with data scientists. We build on that line of inquiry, through 19 in-depth interviews with designers working in small to large international companies to investigate how they actually intervene in shaping products including algorithmic features. We outline how designers intervene at different levels of the algorithmic systems: at a technical level, for instance by providing better input data ; at an interface or information architecture level, sometimes circumventing algorithmic discussions ; or at a organizational level, re-centering the outcome of algorithmic systems around product-centric questions. Building upon these results, we discuss how supporting designers engagement and influence on algorithmic systems may not only be a problem of technical literacy and adequate tooling. But that it may also involve a better awareness of the power of interface work, and a stronger negotiation skills and power literacy to engage in strategic discussions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

14. THE IMPACT OF INFORMATION ORGANISATION SCHEMES ON THE QUALITY OF INFORMATION ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB.

Purpose: Identification of the potential impact of information organisation schemes on the quality of information. The schemes under consideration are presented in the context of improving the quality of information presented on Web pages. Design/methodology/approach: The literature review on information architecture and information quality presents an analysis of the possible impact on information quality of exact and ambiguous schemes. The research utilises examples of the use of information organisation schemes on websites in different areas and industries. Findings: The analysis of the presented schemes revealed that several information quality characteristics were affected. The alphabetic, chronological and geographic schemes (exact schemes) were found to significantly improve eleven information quality criteria: timeliness, accessibility, unambiguity, completeness, clarity, usefulness/utility, consistency, speed, usability, verifiability and comprehensibility. Thematic, task-based, metaphor-based and hybrid (ambiguous schemes) affect eight information quality characteristics: relevancy, speed, timeliness, accessibility, completeness, communicativeness, clarity/understandability, and credibility. Five are present in both groups of schemes: timeliness, accessibility, completeness, speed, and comprehensibility. It is important to note that the set of features presented is not exhaustive and that the identification of new ones requires further in-depth research. Research limitations/implications: The limitations of the conducted research include the presentation of a limited number of examples from different areas. Further research focused on a specific industry will allow for detailed verification of the identified characteristics or the discovery of new ones. Practical implications: The utilisation of information organisation schemes enhances the quality of the information presented, which has practical applications in the presentation of information on the World Wide Web. The presentation of poor-quality information can result in erroneous decisions, which can give rise to a number of adverse consequences, particularly for individual users. Originality/value: The characterisation of schemes presented in the publication enabled the demonstration of their impact on several characteristics of information quality. Furthermore, examples of the use of schemes in improving selected features of information quality on the World Wide Web were indicated. In a manufacturing environment the effectiveness of internal problem solving is a key success factor in the service level performance offered to the customers. Broken internal processes need to be fixed immediately or at least in a very short time, in order to fulfill the committed delivery dates. There are several methodologies applied for internal problem solving used by different companies. This article presents a solution worked out for a plant operating in a high-mix low-volume (HMLV) production environment prone to both internal and external disruptions and disturbances. Principles, architecture and information flow in our digitized disruption handling -- so-called escalation -- system will be shortly discussed. Lessons learned in a six-year's period of using the system will also be summarized. The recorded data confirm that with the introduction of the escalation system the capability of the plant to adapt to changing circumstances and disruptions greatly improved. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Factors, such as whether a website is designed to be user-oriented beyond its mere visual design, its effectiveness and efficiency, its usability, and the organisation of the information it offers, have come to the fore once again after the Covid-19 pandemic. It has been evident that the link structure in a website, better known as the website's information architecture, helps the practitioners with identifying factors that affect the usability of a website. In this sense, practitioners must ensure that the information architecture supports the usage intentions of a websites' visitors to better serve and motivate them. However, in many cases, different types of users navigate websites that contain immense amounts of information, so understanding their needs is also important for practitioners. In parallel, this article addresses the problem that different visitors of a large-scale website will need to navigate through dense information to find the information they are looking for, and the information architecture of the website must support different user tasks for the website to be widely adopted. Thus, unlike previous studies, this article combines the principles of information architecture and the technology acceptance model to investigate the effect of information architecture on visitor's usage intentions. FDBPT created a Power dividing based relaying technology with FD Decode and forwarding capability in this research paper, taking into account the existence of a direct connection. Then, to solve the spectrum efficiency optimization model, information decoding strategy based on SIC and MRC algorithms was presented to decipher signals from the destination node. An IPDP methodology was presented in the proposed way to solve the stated enormous performance maximizing issue. The proposed information decoding technique takes into account the benefits of direct connection, FD, and SIC. Furthermore, a number of simulations demonstrate the higher performance of the proposed approach. NS2 simulations are used to attain higher performance than previous techniques. This article summarises the aims, methods, information architecture, outputs, and innovations of the Australian Cultural Data Engine (ACD-Engine), a project that harnesses leading cultural databases to build bridges to research, industry, and government. The project investigates digital heritage collections, data ontologies, and interoperability, building an information architecture to enhance the open sharing of Australian cultural data. Working with a cross-disciplinary team, the ACD-Engine establishes conceptual and technical frameworks for better understanding the platforms and uses of cultural data across a range of national and international contexts. This new cyber-infrastructure advances cultural data aggregation and interoperability whilst prioritising data quality and domain distinctiveness to answer new research questions across disciplines. As such, the ACD-Engine provides a novel approach to data management and data modelling in the arts and humanities that has significant implications for digital collections, digital humanities, and data analytics. Cultural databases are complicated beasts: rich in their contents and yet often idiosyncratic, siloed, and precarious. This article outlines an innovative workflow and information architecture designed to harness the interoperability of digital resources/records for cultural analytics research without obliterating distinctive domain knowledges. This research proposes the application of concepts such as Information Organization, Information Architecture, Informational Spaces, Multimodality, Relevance Theory, and Gamification to address the informational needs of high-performance professionals. The core proposition is that an Information Architecture Model, supported by Multimodality and coupled with the principles of Information Organization and Gamification, can enhance the training of highperformance professionals. Information Architecture enables an effective flow of information within informational environments, while Multimodality contributes to diverse semiotic learning objects organized within informational spaces. According to Buckland (1991), information can be understood in three dimensions: a. Information-as-process; b. information-as-knowledge; c. information-as-thing, referring to things understood as informative. Brookes (1980) explored the scientific foundations of information and presented a formula that describes the incorporation of information into an individual's body of knowledge through communication. Wurman (2005) defines informational spaces as structurally designed environments created by information architects to meet the specific informational needs of users, effectively filtering essential and relevant information from an overwhelming amount of available data. The IAAM (Information Architecture Associated with Multimodality) model has been implemented in professional training courses. It serves as a guide for planning and constructing Informational Spaces tailored for training high-performance professionals. This model applies to the work of information architects, whether they are professors in a specific discipline or auxiliary educators. In an applied exploratory research approach, questionnaires were distributed to students (the intended users of the proposed model) and their immediate managers, who evaluated their performance. The object of study is the process of monitoring vital signs using an automated system based on an Internet of Things (IoT) solution. The study investigates and analyses the best existing solutions for continuous monitoring of human health. The research is important in the context of a possible pandemic and general health monitoring. An IoT model of a solution for monitoring and analyzing vital signs in patients is proposed. The project involves the creation of hardware and software for tracking vital signs. The interaction of the two parts will ensure that the main task is to obtain the result and analyze the indicators of vital functions of the human body. The hardware is implemented using devices for scanning data on heart rate, temperature, saturation, and the ability to track electrocardiograms. It is possible to transmit data on the state of the body. The position of the sensors attached to the body is taken into account in case they come off. The device itself should be placed on the human body in the area of the front chest wall, wrists, and ankles. The device is also programmed to respond to sudden changes in these values. The software implementation is based on a web-based interface. The design of the final solutions for the interaction between the local and intermediate server was implemented using Django and Python. The ability to administer the intermediate server of the client’s time zone was written using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The use of the IoT solution allows monitoring the indicators of vital functions of the body and their analysis. Namun, tidak semua instansi pendidikan memanfaatkan website dengan sepenuhnya, salah satunya adalah Prodi Sistem Informasi, karena website yang ada hanya menampilkan landing page dan tidak memenuhi kebutuhan informasi pengguna. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menyediakan website profil yang menerapkan Information architecture berbasis Human centered design agar informasi website tersampaikan dengan baik dan informasi yang disediakan sesuai dengan kebutuhan pengguna. Information architecture yang diterapkan meliputi aspek organization system, labelling system, navigation system, dan searching system. Pendekatan Human centered design meliputi analisis konteks penggunaan, analisis kebutuhan pengguna, pembuatan desain solusi, dan evaluasi desain. Evaluasi desain menggunakan tree testing yang menghasilkan success rate 94,71%, directness 82,65%, time spent 3 menit 59 detik, first click 73,75%, dan destination 80,5%. Dengan demikian, hasil desain solusi dapat diimplementasikan dalam bentuk website, karena sebagian besar pengguna dapat menemukan seluruh kategori yang diuji. Setelah itu, pengujian searching system dilakukan dengan tree testing, dan menghasilkan success rate 98%, directness 96%, time spent 79% yang termasuk dalam kategori cepat, first click 97%, destination 96%, sehingga disimpulkan bahwa searching system dapat membantu pengguna menemukan halaman yang dicari dengan cepat dan tepat.

The proliferation of digital software is an increasingly accepted part of everyday life in higher education in the United States. While this software affords some opportunities, it can create confusing experiences for students as well. In this paper, I ask how might increasingly complex digital ecosystems in higher education shape the contours of instructor-student communication. To answer this question, I conducted an exploratory case study in the form of an online survey (n=83) and subsequent interviews (n=18) with user experience (UX) design students at a large public university in the southeastern United States. The research showed that students felt confusion regarding digital software protocols in their classes, how protocols varied from class to class, an inability to remember when and how to communicate with instructors outside of class, unsureness about where to locate information, and a preference for messaging applications over email. Research results suggest that instructor-student communication in higher education can be productively viewed through the lens of information architecture. In doing so, I argue for the need for instructors to implement strong information architecture strategies that help make sense of information in increasingly complex academic ecosystems.

Several studies have demonstrated the ability of long short-term memory (LSTM) machine-learning-based modeling to outperform traditional spatially lumped process-based modeling approaches for streamflow prediction. However, due mainly to the structural complexity of the LSTM network (which includes gating operations and sequential processing of the data), difficulties can arise when interpreting the internal processes and weights in the model. Here, we propose and test a modification of LSTM architecture that is calibrated in a manner that is analogous to a hydrological system. Our architecture, called "HydroLSTM", simulates the sequential updating of the Markovian storage while the gating operation has access to historical information. Specifically, we modify how data are fed to the new representation to facilitate simultaneous access to past lagged inputs and consolidated information, which explicitly acknowledges the importance of trends and patterns in the data. We compare the performance of the HydroLSTM and LSTM architectures using data from 10 hydro-climatically varied catchments. We further examine how the new architecture exploits the information in lagged inputs, for 588 catchments across the USA. The HydroLSTM-based models require fewer cell states to obtain similar performance to their LSTM-based counterparts. Further, the weight patterns associated with lagged input variables are interpretable and consistent with regional hydroclimatic characteristics (snowmelt-dominated, recent rainfall-dominated, and historical rainfall-dominated). These findings illustrate how the hydrological interpretability of LSTM-based models can be enhanced by appropriate architectural modifications that are physically and conceptually consistent with our understanding of the system. We investigate elevators as media. Our central argument is that elevators manipulate information in time. Time manipulation of elevators (movement data + genetic algorithms) produces temporal order. Elevators have become media objects because they produce data that are digitally manipulated to optimize movement. We conducted an empirical study in a multinational corporation that manufactures elevators, including 4 months of field research at multiple locations and interviewed 64 people. We show how time manipulation changes with the information architecture: first, time manipulation took place inside and during the movement of elevators by pushing the buttons. Second, time manipulation took place in the cloud by statistical mathematics. The latest development is toward decentralized social application where elevators as independent media objects manipulate time using genetic algorithms and communicate with each other. Digital technology provides methods to record and preserve cultural heritage, support conservation and restoration efforts, and share our collective past with a worldwide audience. Between 2011 and 2017, the 3D Survey Group from Politecnico di Milano operated an annual workshop in the medieval village of Ghesc in which photogrammetry and laser-scanner surveys were carried out. The point cloud data acquired in these activities has become "time slices" documenting different stages of the preservation interventions in Ghesc and the evolution of advanced survey techniques. The main objective of this research is to streamline the workflow of delivering immersive and interactive experiences for complex heritage by directly utilising the 3D survey point cloud data, whether derived from a photogrammetric survey, static laser scanner, or mobile mapping.A point cloud-based multiplatform application is designed and delivered with versatile functions. It runs on PC and VR devices to provide virtual access to the village and narrate its revitalisation story. Additionally, it operates on mobile devices with an AR feature that brings vibrancy to the on-site experience. This application integrates high-fidelity point cloud models, detailed information on vernacular architecture in the Ossola Valley, and information on the preservation project with gamified learning experiences. The unconventional approach of using points as rendering primitives in virtual applications offers a practical solution for visualising complex heritage, enabling an efficient transition from the data collection stage to the data sharing stage without the need for 3D reconstruction and intricate BIM modelling. Twitter/'X', with its vast user base and real-time nature, provides a valuable source to assess the raw emotions and opinions of people regarding war, conflict, and peace. This paper focuses on collecting and curating hinglish tweets specifically related to wars, conflicts, and associated taxonomy. The creation of said dataset addresses the existing gap in contemporary literature, which lacks comprehensive datasets capturing the emotions and sentiments expressed by individuals regarding wars, conflicts, and peace efforts. This dataset holds significant value and application in deep pragmatic analysis as it enables future researchers to identify the flow of sentiments, analyze the information architecture surrounding war, conflict, and peace effects, and delve into the associated psychology in this context. To ensure the dataset's quality and relevance, a meticulous selection process was employed, resulting in the inclusion of explanable 500 carefully chosen search filters. Semantic interoperability establishes intercommunications and enables data sharing across disparate systems. In this study, we propose an ostensive information architecture for healthcare information systems to decrease ambiguity caused by using signs in different contexts for different purposes. The ostensive information architecture adopts a consensus-based approach initiated from the perspective of information systems re-design and can be applied to other domains where information exchange is required between heterogeneous systems. Driven by the issues in FHIR (Fast Health Interoperability Resources) implementation, an ostensive approach that supplements the current lexical approach in semantic exchange is proposed. A Semantic Engine with an FHIR knowledge graph as the core is constructed using Neo4j to provide semantic interpretation and examples. The MIMIC III (Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care) datasets and diabetes datasets have been employed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed information architecture. We further discuss the benefits of the separation of semantic interpretation and data storage from the perspective of information system design, and the semantic reasoning towards patient-centric care underpinned by the Semantic Engine. Open card sorting is a widely used method in HCI for the design of user-centered Information Architectures (IAs). This article proposes a new algorithm that combines the best merge method (BMM), category validity technique (CVT), and multidimensional scaling (MDS) to explore, analyze and visualize open card sort data. A study involving 20 participants and 41 cards explored the IA redesign of a university's website. The collected data were analyzed using two popular methods employed in the quantitative analysis of open card sort data (i.e., hierarchical clustering, K-means) and the proposed algorithm. It was found that the latter provides increased IA insights compared to the existing methods. Specifically, the proposed algorithm can expose hidden patterns and relationships amongst cards and identify complexities. Search engines have integrated various UX-related factors and a more precise analysis of users' search intent to better fulfil their needs. Our aims are to identify commonalities among three UX-related disciplines: usability, information architecture, web accessibility, and SEO, within the context of Search eXperience Optimization (SXO). Based on a literature analysis, common factors between SEO and the other disciplines were identified, contextualized, and justified. It has been demonstrated that specific good practices within these disciplines contribute to enhancing the visibility of web pages in search engines. Specifically, a total of 37 related factors were identified. The incorporation of these practices can result in improved crawling, indexing, and interpretation of content by search engines. Processing texts of multiple knowledge areas is a hard task. This article presents an Information Science contribution to natural language processing based on artificial neural networks through data arrangement. An extended concept of Information architecture was used, aggregating a multimodal view of organizing data. The Multimodal Information Architecture definition served as foundations for a five-step procedure to design, analyze and transform data used for artificial neural networks training and learning methods, complementing gaps identified by authors focused on Computer Science implementations. The proposal was validated with three datasets formed by texts coming from 16 knowledge areas. Results obtained through the usage of pre-processed data and raw data where compared. In each of the three datasets, the method identified arrangements which led to better and worst results, separating which corpus samples are more susceptible for knowledge extraction. Existing models are constrained by factors such as the scale, color, and shape of urban objects, which limit their ability to achieve more accurate segmentation results. To address these limitations, this paper proposes a novel Multi-Scale Feature Shuffle NetWork (MFSNet), which is an improvement upon the existing Deeplabv3+ model. Specifically, MFSNet integrates a novel Pyramid Shuffle Module (PSM) to extract discriminative features and feature correlations, with the objective of improving the accuracy of classifying insignificant objects. Additionally, we propose an efficient feature aggregation module (EFAM) to effectively expand the receptive field and aggregate contextual information, which is integrated as a branch within the network architecture to mitigate the information loss resulting from downsampling operations. Moreover, in order to augment the precision of segmentation boundary delineation and object localization, we employ a progressive upsampling strategy for reinstating spatial information in the feature maps. The experimental results show that the proposed model achieves competitive performance, achieving 80.4% MIoU on the Pascal VOC 2012 dataset, 79.4% MIoU on the Cityscapes dataset, and 40.1% MIoU on the Coco-Stuff dataset. It's been four years since the formation of the Python in Heliophysics Community (PyHC). In that time, the community has made great strides towards embodying and implementing the ideals of a "Heliophysics Framework" put forth by Burrell et al. (2018). Specifically, the components of such a framework include: 1) centralization of current Python packages, 2) increasing accessibility and connectivity of these projects, 3) consideration of software attribution issues, and 4) the establishment and implementation of best practices and standards for code development. We describe the manner in which, and to what extent, PyHC has realized these four tenants. We then set forth suggestions for advancing PyHC's efforts, including ways in which we can improve our information architecture, how we can grow our community, both in terms of project sustainability and usage, as well as the social component of the community itself, how we can improve PyHC package integration, and finally, non-Python library considerations. The suggested improvements and additions therein advance PyHC's mission and strategic goals, while helping better integrate PyHC into the broader Heliophysics and Space Weather community efforts. Brain communication, defined as information transmission through white-matter connections, is at the foundation of the brain's computational capacities that subtend almost all aspects of behavior: from sensory perception shared across mammalian species, to complex cognitive functions in humans. How did communication strategies in macroscale brain networks adapt across evolution to accomplish increasingly complex functions? By applying a graph- and information-theory approach to assess information-related pathways in male mouse, macaque and human brains, we show a brain communication gap between selective information transmission in non-human mammals, where brain regions share information through single polysynaptic pathways, and parallel information transmission in humans, where regions share information through multiple parallel pathways. In humans, parallel transmission acts as a major connector between unimodal and transmodal systems. The layout of information-related pathways is unique to individuals across different mammalian species, pointing at the individual-level specificity of information routing architecture. Our work provides evidence that different communication patterns are tied to the evolution of mammalian brain networks. Differences in information transmission in the brain network between humans and other species are not well understood. Here, the authors apply an information theory approach to structural connectomes and functional MRI and report that human brain networks display more evidence of parallel information transmission compared to macaques and mice. The premise of Digital Engineering (DE) – a term coined by the US DoD, is to introduce efficiency and agility into engineering practices based on digital representations of complex systems under development. DE aims to foster early and virtual validations, virtual exploration of solutions and design robustness by automating current document centric engineering processes. As stated by the DoD, DE is expected to result in shortening delivery time, reduced cost of development driving increased quality and trust that the intended system will indeed satisfy the stakeholder needs. The core technological pillars of digital engineering are model based engineering, designation of authoritative sources of truth to avoid ambiguity and inconsistency and establishing technological platforms to facilitate collaboration, security, and IP protection across all stakeholders. "Digital Threads" is an information architecture that aims to establish digital continuity across product lifecycle activities, foster engineering integrity, effective change management, tradeoff analysis, and dissemination of operational data. Digital threads are an essential part of the DoD Digital Engineering strategy. There are technological challenges to implement digital threads, as it requires to establish a digital fabric across various modeling and engineering operational environments. The massive amounts of data produced and gathered by smart devices through the internet support a wide range of applications, considerably improving our daily lives. Data sharing among smart devices must be safeguarded due to the sensitivity of the data involved in the transmission. The Internet of Things (IoT) environment must be protected from unauthorised access due to a variety of variables, including its attractiveness to cybercriminals, previous successful cyber-attacks, and consumers' perceptions of security and reliability. Blockchain technology appears to be one promising technology that appears to address these security challenges extremely effectively. However, given the volume and rate at which smart devices generate data, Blockchain appears to be inefficient for storing it. The pace of data collection in the IoT context and the speed of transaction confirmation in the Blockchain network are the two key elements behind this. We connect the Blockchain and the Inter-Planetary File System (IPFS) in this study to permit data recording on a distributed storage and a mechanism to restrict access to recorded data to authorised organisations only. Over the Blockchain network, the access policy definition for safe data sharing and cryptographic hash content is stored. The real IoT-generated data, on the other hand, is collected via a distributed storage network, which improves availability and security. The proposed scheme's analysis and performance evaluation show that it is secure and feasible. Furthermore, simulations are undertaken to assess the operating costs of smart contracts and to test the efficacy and viability of the suggested architecture. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Information bottlenecks are a central issue in architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) projects. It is crucial to detect their occurrence to mitigate their impacts. Existing approaches to detect information bottlenecks use metrics that require estimating the quantity of information published, which is a challenging task in practice. In this paper, building on the literature and recent developments in automation, we introduce a revised model that uses unresolved activities during project delivery and frequency of information publication actions to detect information bottlenecks. We validated our model by applying it to a case study. We compared bottlenecks detected by our model to ground truth obtained in the case study independently using observational data and external verification. We further study how project activities requiring different levels of interactions among project participants with different roles (e.g., designer, contractor) affect our model's performance. Results support our model and show that it is possible to attain comparable performance by considering only high-interdependency activities. Our research enables teams and project managers to keep a focus on issues that require intense communication among different experts and organizations to avoid bottleneck. Our contribution to the body of knowledge includes a revised model that detects information bottlenecks during project delivery and insights into integrative project management where the focus is on both project activities and collaboration needs across roles to streamline the whole process. To address inaccurate semantic representation and challenges in interpreting rare words within deep learningbased paraphrase identification tasks, this paper introduces a multi-level semantic feature network extractor (MSF-Net). The MSF-Net model represents an end-to-end dual-stage, multilevel semantic information learning architecture. Specifically, a topic-level semantic feature extraction module is incorporated to discern the topic distribution of the text. Initially, this module synergizes the text's hidden state, acquired from the Bi-GRU module, with the topic extractor for joint learning of local-global semantic information in the text. MSF-Net employs a multi-attention module to proficiently capture word relationships and semantic details by modeling the complete text sequence, informed by learned topic and context information, thereby aiding the model in paraphrase identification. Comparative and ablation experiments on the extensive LCQMC text dataset are presented in this paper. The MSF-Net model achieves precision, recall, F1 score, and accuracy rates of 78.69, 94.14, 85.72, and 87.13, respectively. The results substantiate MSF-Net's superiority over baseline models in capturing semantic information and reinforcing paraphrase recognition tasks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article describes the development of information architecture (IA) within technical communication, by presenting a practical approach to implementing taxonomies in the world's leading water solution manufacturer and distributor. Technical documentation is a major part of the manufacturing process, ensuring that customer receive needed information to operate products in the efficient and safe way. To optimize translation costs, increase reusability and digitalization, enterprises are moving away from one-block publications to writing modular topics, using XML standard, such as Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA). However, there are challenges with this approach: how to manage the growing number of modular topics in Component Content Management Systems (CCMS) efficiently. The solution presented in this study recommends developing information architecture to enable three-dimensional information retrieval and reuse taxonomy design. Product Information Classification (PI-Class) method is used to create taxonomies to enable digitalization of topic-based technical documentation. Taxonomies are then used by trained technical communicators, allowing them to select metadata tags that are applied to the topics. Metadata allows searching for topics in CCMS and reusing the needed text. There is lack of studies which describe a practical approach on how to implement and manage metadata-based classification systems.
