This study offers valuable insights into family needs and interaction patterns regarding the use of information and communications technologies (ICT) in everyday life. Given that ICT has become an important part of everyday family life, it is essential to comprehensively explore family interactions related to experiences with digital technologies. Within the DigiGen project, 30 interviews involving 10 families were conducted with children aged 5 to 10 years and their family members in Estonia. The aim of the study was to identify the interaction patterns regarding ICT use that emerge between family members in daily life and the daily family needs that are accompanied by ICT use. Thematic analysis was carried out to identify the main themes in the data. Four primary themes of family needs and interaction patterns regarding the use of ICT in everyday life – satisfying needs in family life, the roles of family members, conflicts/disagreements in family life and family rules and negotiation – are discussed. The chiral H8-BINOL derivatives R-1 and R-2 were efficiently synthesized via a Suzuki coupling reaction, and they can be used as novel dialdehyde fluorescent probes for the enantioselective recognition of R/S-2-amino-1-phenylethanol. In addition, R-1 is much more effective than R-2. Scanning electron microscope images and X-ray analyses show that R-1 can form supramolecular vesicles through the self-assembly effect of the π-π force and strong hydrogen bonding. As determined via analysis, the fluorescence of the probe was significantly enhanced by mixing a small amount of S-2-amino-1-phenylethanol into R-1, with a redshift of 38 nm, whereas no significant fluorescence response was observed in R-2-amino-1-phenylethanol. The enantioselective identification of S-2-amino-1-phenylethanol by the probe R-1 was further investigated through nuclear magnetic titration and fluorescence kinetic experiments and DFT calculations. The results showed that this mechanism was not only a simple reactive probe but also realized object recognition through an ICT mechanism. As the intramolecular hydrogen bond activated the carbonyl group on the probe R-1, the carbonyl carbon atom became positively charged. As a strong nucleophile, the amino group of S-2-amino-1-phenylethanol first transferred the amino electrons to a carbonyl carbocation, resulting in a significantly enhanced fluorescence of the probe R-1 and a 38 nm redshift. Similarly, S-2-amino-1-phenylethanol alone caused severe damage to the self-assembled vesicle structure of the probe molecule itself due to its spatial structure, which made R-1 highly enantioselective towards it. Increasing agricultural productivity in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs) is an important channel for reducing poverty and food insecurity. Information and communication technologies (ICT) have the potential to boost agricultural productivity by lowering transaction costs and enhancing access to information. Even though there are several micro‐level studies analysing the effects of ICT on agricultural productivity, there is scant research addressing the role of ICT in agricultural productivity at the global and regional levels. Using data from 86 countries for the period 2000 to 2019 and utilising a fixed effect panel regression with a feasible generalised least square approach, we find that globally there is a positive and significant association between ICT uptake and both land and labour productivity in agriculture. In each case, however, the magnitude of the effect is much smaller than other important determinants, such as human capital, access to inputs or environmental factors. At the regional level, the relationship between ICT uptake and land productivity is not significant in Africa and Asia, while we find a significant effect on labour productivity. This finding indicates that while ICT can provide valuable information and tools for land management, the effect on land productivity might be less immediate in these regions. Finally, we revisit the question of whether ICT expansion increases agricultural productivity gaps between high‐income nations and LMICs. In contrast to previous research, this study does not find significant differences in the effects of ICT on land and labour productivity between higher‐income and lower‐income countries. This discussion article examines the potential integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen-AI), including advanced Large-Language Models like the popular platform ChatGPT into subject English education. Following the significant public and academic attention in response to these technologies through 2023, this paper considers the transformative potential and challenges posed by Gen-AI in educational settings. Central to the discussion is the exploration of how English teachers can leverage Gen-AI to enrich student learning beyond the obvious domain of writing skills. Instead, the article foregrounds the necessity for students' understanding of Gen-AI as an essential component of digital literacy. While acknowledging ethical concerns such as plagiarism, equity, and access, the paper presents an argument for the productive use of Gen-AI in the classroom to augment reading, viewing, and interpretation lessons. Avoiding an evangelical or dystopian view of AI, this discussion piece explores the time-critical and urgent issue of how, when, and why English can engage with the technology. The present study investigates the variety among teacher educators (TEds) related to the use of digital resources in teaching as well as the strategies they use to develop digital competence. A person-centred approach was applied to identify meaningful patterns among TEds having different levels of self-reported digital expertise, at five teacher education institutions. Survey data from TEds (N = 389) was subjected to structural equation modelling. With latent class analysis, we identified three distinct profiles based on probability of engagement in different digital competence development (DCD) activities: 1) The restrictive user—characterised by sporadic and narrow use of DCD strategies, prefers peer-restricted collaboration, 2) The moderate user—regular user of DCD strategies, prefers peer-restricted collaboration, and 3) The extensive user—frequent and comprehensive user DCD strategies, engages in broad collaboration. The extensive users also use digital resources more frequently in their teaching compared to the moderate and especially the restricted users. This is the case for individual interactions with students, to make teaching more relevant and applicable, as well as to make teaching more student active. Initial teacher education provide learning opportunities that allow future teachers to develop digital skills and self- and co-regulation learning (SCRL). However, there is need for research on how to prepare students teachers to use Information and Communication Technologies (ITC) on SCRL. This qualitative exploratory study took place in ICT and Education Basic course (“TIC e EB”, Portuguese-language acronym) from Higher Education Institution, that adopted project-based learning (PBL) over five phases. In teamwork, the students developed an educational integration project of ICT with a curriculum content of Basic/Preschool Education. The research goals were: 1) Identify which ICT were integrated in the projects and understand their educational purposes; 2) Identify and understand which CRL strategies were adopted during the PBL phases; 3) Identify the difficulties experienced and how they overcame them, 4) Verify the students’ perception of TIC e EB course. Teams actively explored and integrated a diversity of ICT (n = 34) in their projects: tools to provide content and pedagogical activities; platforms that allow development of interactive and gamified activities and others. Students mentioned different CRL strategies and difficulties. Strategies to overcome difficulties were the exploration of new tools/applications, seeking information and help from the teacher. Using annual data from 1970 to 2020, this study examines the effects of economic leadership, information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure, and financial development on long-term economic growth in Malaysia. To accomplish this, we employ the Kapetanios multiple breaks unit root test and the Saikkonen-Lütkepohl (SL) test for cointegration with breaks. We add to the body of knowledge on this topic by exploring the direct and indirect (moderating) effects of economic leadership and financial development on the ICT-growth nexus. We discover that poor leadership impedes economic advancement in Malaysia and that the expansion of the financial sector tends to enhance the growth-improving effects of ICT. Moreover, the effects of both financial and ICT developments on growth are contingent upon Malaysia’s economic leadership. As such, Malaysia should encourage competent economic leadership, financial development, and a comprehensive ICT infrastructure network to boost its long-term economic growth. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: This paper aims to prepare a new donor–π–acceptor (D–π–A) and acceptor–π– D–π–A (A–π–D–π–A) phenothiazine (PTZ) in conjugation with vinyl isophorone (PTZ-1 and PTZ-2) were designed and their molecular shape, electrical structures and characteristics have been explored using the density functional theory (DFT). The results satisfactorily explain that the higher conjugative effect resulted in a smaller high occupied molecular orbital–lowest unoccupied molecular orbital gap (Eg). Both compounds show intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) transitions in the ultraviolet (UV)–visible range, with a bathochromic shift and higher absorption oscillator strength, as determined by DFT calculations. Design/methodology/approach: The produced PTZ-1 and PTZ-2 sensors were characterized using various spectroscopic methods, including Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H/13CNMR). UV–visible absorbance spectra of the generated D–π–A PTZ-1 and A–π–D–π–A PTZ-2 dyes were explored in different solvents of changeable polarities to illustrate positive solvatochromism correlated to intramolecular charge transfer. Findings: The emission spectra of PTZ-1 and PTZ-2 showed strong solvent-dependent band intensity and wavelength. Stokes shifts were monitored to increase with the increase of the solvent polarity up to 4122 cm−1 for the most polar solvent. Linear energy-solvation relationship was applied to inspect solvent-dependent Stokes shifting. Quantum yield (ф) of PTZ-1 and PTZ-2 was also explored. The maximum UV–visible absorbance wavelengths were detected at 417 and 419 nm, whereas the fluorescence intensity was monitored at 586 and 588 nm. This study uses a rich city-level dataset to analyse the relationship between information and communication technology (ICT) and productivity performance in China during 2003–2016. It is shown that ICT positively contributes to Chinese cities' productivity in conjunction with other growth determinants, such as human capital, foreign direct investment (FDI), infrastructure development, financial market development, and research and development investment. An identifiable amplified effect is detected when ICT exceeds certain threshold in Chinese cities. This threshold level is reached in over a half of Chinese cities particularly cities in coastal regions. Finally, ICT is found to substitute human capital in China's context. Since the average education level in Chinese cities is low, the finding is in line with the argument that ICT only improves productivity of high-skilled workers but worsens that of the low-skilled ones. Context: In this study, we have developed four new chromophores (TM1–TM4) and performed quantum chemical calculations to explore their nonlinear optical properties. Our focus was on understanding the impact of electron-donating substituents on 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivative chromophores. The natural bond orbital analysis confirmed the interactions between donors and acceptors as well as provided insights into intramolecular charge transfer. We also estimated dipole moment, linear polarizability molecular electrostatic potential, UV–visible spectra, and first hyperpolarizability. Our results revealed that TM1 with a strong and stable electron-donating group exhibited high first hyperpolarizability (β) 293,679.0178 × 10−34 esu. Additionally, TM1 exhibited a dipolar moment (μ) of 5.66 Debye and polarizability (α) of 110.62 × 10−24 esu when measured in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) solvent. Furthermore, in a benzene solvent, TM1 showed a low energy band gap of 5.33 eV by using the ωB97XD functional with a 6–311 + + G(d, p) basis set. Moreover, our study of intramolecular charge transfers highlighted N, N dimethyl triphenylamine and carbazole as major electron-donating groups among the four 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivative chromophores. This research illustrates the potential applications of these organic molecules in photonics due to their versatile nature. Methods: The molecules were individually optimized using different functionals, including APFD, B3LYP, CAM B3LYP, and ωB97XD combined with the 6–311 + + G (d, p) basis set in Gaussian 16 software. These methods encompass long-range functionals such as APFD and B3LYP, along with long-range corrected functionals like CAM B3LYP and ωB97XD. The employed functionals of APFD, B3LYP, CAM B3LYP, and ωB97XD with the 6–311 + + G (d,p) basis set were used to extract various properties such as geometrical structures, dipole moment, molecular electrostatic potential, and first hyperpolarizability through precise density functional theory (DFT). With the constant development of technology and the growing interest of students in its application, Extended Reality (XR) expands the opportunities for students from various disciplines to stimulate their creativity and innovation in innovative ways in education. In this sense, the purpose of this research was to analyse the current scientific literature to assess the opportunities offered by XR, which encompasses Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality, in education. The study was developed following the methodology supported by the PRISMA statement, retrieving scientific literature from Web of Science, Scopus, ERIC, PsycINFO, British Education Index and Google Scholar. The analysis of the studies reveals that XR has great potential to enhance teaching and learning in various disciplines. The results indicate that XR can offer immersive and highly interactive learning experiences that can improve understanding of complex concepts and increase knowledge retention. In addition, it has been observed that XR can adapt to different learning styles and provide personalised learning opportunities. However, significant challenges are identified, such as accessibility and costs associated with its implementation in educational settings. Using a sample of manufacturing enterprises from the World Bank Survey during the period from 2006 to 2020, this study explores the impact of information and communication technologies (ICT) on corporate energy intensity and its mechanisms. Empirical results show that ICT adoption significantly improves the energy intensity of manufacturing enterprises in emerging and developing countries; a change in the standard deviation of ICT adoption can contribute 22.58% of the difference in corporate energy intensity. On the one hand, ICT adoption intensifies market competition and reduces product price markups, leading manufacturing enterprises to reduce investment in energy conservation. On the other hand, ICT adoption is complementary to energy and can promote energy input to replace traditional factors such as labor and capital, thereby increasing corporate energy intensity. The market competition effect and factor substitution effect account for 14.96% and 73.71% of the total effect. This study also confirms the Solow Productivity Paradox in ICT adoption, leading to the failure of the productivity mechanism for ICT to reduce energy intensity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study investigated the impact of information and communication technology (ICT) on electricity intensity, incorporating electricity prices, financial development, and population growth in Korea from 1990 to 2020, using the ARDL (autoregressive distributed lag) model. Three cases were considered, each relating to a different ICT proxy: Internet use, mobile cellular phone use, and exports of ICT-related products. The results varied depending on the proxy used to represent ICT. An increase in mobile cellular phone use leads to an increase in electricity intensity in the long run; however, the short-run effects of this change are unclear. An increase in Internet use also leads to an increase in electricity intensity in the long run but induces a decrease in electricity intensity in the short run. Increments in the exports of ICT-related products lead to an increase in electricity intensity in the short run; however, this effect is negligible in the long run. Electricity prices do not affect electricity intensity in all cases, and financial development reduces the intensity of electricity in the cases of the use of both mobile cellular phones and the Internet as proxies for ICT, whereas population growth increases electricity intensity in all cases. In line with the digital turn in service provision, social work students should acquire relevant knowledge and skills, preparing them for work within digitalized welfare services. In Norway, these expectations are articulated in a national learning outcome (LOC) that addresses digital competence and the ability to assist in developing and using technology. Previous research has revealed digital knowledge gaps between education and practice . Here, we explore how social work educators perceive of and engage with digital competence as expressed in the LOC. Through focus group interviews with social work educators in Norway, we discovered that the knowledge gap is linked to five key findings: (a) uncertainty about the content of the LOC, (b) unfamiliar technical language, (c) the rapid development of digitalization, (d) the distribution of responsibility and (e) critical reflection. Critical reflection is expressed as a solution to the challenges. We argue that there must be knowledge about the subject matter (digital competency) that provides a foundation for such critical reflection (digital literacy). More conceptual clarity is needed regarding the LOC and what digitalization means in an educational context, in order for both digital competency and digital literacy to take their natural place in education. Modern infrastructure development contributes significantly to economic growth and tourism activities. This study's objectives emphasize exploring tourism and sustainable development pursuits under OBOR economic projects that open doors to improving residents' quality of life. The growing world is an eyewitness to a continuous rise in emissions and its severe consequences for humankind. It is necessary to show off the leading factors that result in tourism and economic activities causing environmental pollution rather than blame policymakers. Undoubtedly, many studies previously focused on demonstrating the influence of socio-economic factors that lead to better environmental quality. However, the empirical literature on tourism, social well-being, foreign direct investment, and the Environment in Belt and Road developed economies needed improvement. This research applied a series of advanced estimators that help demonstrate the study's probable results. This study explores the role of Social well-being (HDI), tourism development, FDI, renewable energy, information & communication technology (ICT), and urbanization on CO2 emissions in Belt and Road (BRI) developed economies.Estimated results exhibited the significant contribution of ICT and renewable energy to sustainability. Besides, FDI contributes to emissions reduction after its threshold level. Conversely, urbanization and tourism activities contribute to environmental pollution. The study outcomes stated inverted/EKC U-shaped hypotheses related to specified economies. Finally, the analysis based on the D-H panel causality test constructs exciting results.The present study concludes that economic corridor plays a vital role in tourism development, the community's well-being, and SDGs goals (sustainable development) impact on environmental safety. The objective of this paper is to investigate the nonlinear relationship between ICT and CO2 emissions by controlling for economic growth, foreign direct investment, energy consumption, and trade openness. Using data from 16 Middle East and North African (MENA) countries over the period 1990–2019, we apply the Panel Smooth Transition Regression (PSTR) model, as introduced by (González A, Teräsvirta T, vanDijk D (2005) Panel smooth transition regression models. SEE/EFI Working Paper Series in Economics and Finance, No. 604), to study the potential regime-switching behavior of the relationship between the variables. The results reveal the existence of a strong regime-switching effect between ICT and CO2 emissions. It was found that after reaching a certain threshold, ICT use and penetration starts to significantly mitigate environmental degradation. Our results show that high levels of ICT not only improve environmental quality but can also be part of the solution to combat the environmental challenges that the MENA region has faced over the past decades. In addition, to account for the potential endogeneity bias, we also develop and estimate a PSTR model with instrumental variables (IV-PSTR) using the approach of (Fouquau et al., Econ Model 25:284–299, 2008). Global concern over socioeconomic activities' environmental impact is undeniable, given their implications for climate and human welfare. In our study, we analyze Pakistan's landscape, with emphasis on the effects of electricity generation and consumption (both symmetric and asymmetric), energy trade, and the role of information and communication technology (ICT). We harnessed data from 1993 to 2020, sourced from World Development Indicators, Climate Watch, and the USA EIA. Our analysis involved application of the Nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag model and the Autoregressive Distributed Lag bounds testing methods. Our results reveal that electricity consumption, whether experiencing positive or negative shocks, exhibits a tendency to elevate emissions over the long term. Similarly, shocks in electricity generation from fossil fuels, whether positive or negative, have adverse environmental consequences both in the short and long run. A negative shock in electricity generation from renewable and alternative sources triggers environmental degradation. Remarkably, nuclear energy plays a pivotal role in bolstering environmental sustainability in Pakistan. Conversely, we identified factors contributing to ecological degradation, including imports of coal, crude oil, metallurgical coke, and ICT usage, in the long run. Equally, trade and natural resources rent emerge as mitigating factors over time. Ultimately, our study underscores the importance of diversifying the energy mix, with a particular emphasis on expanding the renewable sources for reducing emissions and fostering environmental sustainability in Pakistan. Additionally, our research suggests that leveraging natural resources rent and trade capabilities can pave the way for an eco-friendlier future in the country. This study assesses the environmental impact of electricity generation by source, electricity consumption, energy trade, and ICTs in Pakistan. The findings confirm that both positive and negative shocks in fossil fuel electricity generation and consumption detrimentally affect the environment. Coal, crude oil, metallurgical coke imports, and ICTs degrade the environment, while nuclear electricity generation, natural resources rent, and trade improve it. Integrating energy diversification with focus on promoting renewable energy sources has the potential to significantly reduce emissions and advance long-run environmental sustainability. ICT is more than just an information medium since they can help promote significant changes in teaching. Taking advantage of the mandatory use of these tools in the COVID pandemic, we have analyzed the activities carried out by teachers of STEM subjects (Mathematics, Science and Technology) in secondary education, through two studies. Both studies were aimed at studying whether the objectives and expected results of the activities were more constructive and focused on the teachers or, on the contrary, they were more reproductive and focused on the teacher or the content. The first study was carried out by designing and administering a Likert questionnaire on the frequency of different types of tasks. An analysis of variance was applied to these data. The second study analyzed an activity selected by the teachers themselves using a category system (SATA). This study investigates crop farmers' perception on climate change effects on water resources and factors that influence their perceptions of it in Vietnam. A sample of 253 was randomly selected from a total population of 685 crop farmers and a structured questionnaire was created to gather data. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used. The research results showed that climate change effects on water resources varied by landform. A majority of farmers perceived that: shifts in rainfall amount and variability affect the operation of runoff water and groundwater recharge; shifts in temperature level and variability considerably influence evapotranspiration; and changes in runoff amount and runoff variability greatly influence soil water storage and groundwater. Mixed cropping systems, use of soil conservation, extension contacts, farming practices, non-agricultural activities, credit programme participation, information and communication technology (ICT) owned, and education level are the important determinants of farmers' perceptions on climate change. Effective and efficient use of information and communication technology (ICT) systems in the administration of educational organisations is crucial to optimise their performance. Earlier research on the identification and analysis of ICT users' satisfaction with administration tasks in education is limited and inconclusive, as they focus on using ICT for nonadministrative tasks. To address this gap, this study employs Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in conjunction with a survey technique to predict the satisfaction of ICT users. In doing so, it provides an insight into the key factors that impact users' satisfaction with the ICT administrative systems. The results reveal that AI and ML models predict ICT user satisfaction with an accuracy of 94%, and identify the specific ICT features, such as usability, privacy, security, and Information Technology (IT) support as key determinants of satisfaction. The ability to predict user satisfaction is important as it allows organisations to make data-driven decisions on improving their ICT systems to better meet the needs and expectations of users, maximising labour effort while minimising resources, and identifying potential issues earlier. A sustainable future world consistently attributes to the development of eco‐friendly methods and materials for detection and elimination of toxic substances from the environment. While addressing the issues, pyrazole carbonitrile derived Schiff base PYR−TZ has been designed and employed for colorimetric and turn on fluorometric cyanide ion sensing. PYR−TZ demonstrated high cyanide ion (CN−) sensitivity with a 1 : 1 binding stoichiometry in aqueous solution. By preventing intramolecular charge transfer, the PYR−TZ sensor demonstrated excellent selectivity towards CN, which caused a color transition from colorless to yellow and impressive "turn‐on" fluorescence emission. The detection thresholds for CN− are 6.5 nm for absorbance spectra and 0.396 nm emission spectra, respectively. Under typical ecological and physiological settings (pH 1–12), the PYR−TZ sensor can function as an effective chemical sensor for detecting the CN− ions. Additionally, the sensor can find CN in tobacco commercial products like cigarettes and cigars. PYR−TZ is a great cyanide sensor probe that has a number of benefits, which includes simple synthesis, distinct color and emission change, a high degree of selectivity, lesser limit of detection, reversibility, and good anti‐interference ability to analyze solution and tobacco commercial things, together with fluorescence imaging. The theoretical optimized structure and electronic transitions were confirmed by DFT and TDDFT studies. Background: No tool is currently able to measure digital inclusion in clinical populations suitable for telemedicine. We developed the "Digital Inclusion Questionnaire" (DIQUEST) to estimate access and skills in Parkinson's Disease (PD) patients and verified its properties with a pilot study. Methods: Thirty PD patients completed the initial version of the DIQUEST along with the Mobile Device Proficiency Questionnaire (MDPQ) and a practical computer task. A Principal Components Analysis (PCA) was conducted to define the DIQUEST factor structure and remove less informative items. We used Cronbach's α to measure internal reliability and Spearman's correlation test to determine the convergent and predictive validity with the MDPQ and the practical task, respectively. Results: The final version of the DIQUEST consisted of 20 items clustering in five components: "advanced skills," "navigation skills," "basic skills/knowledge," "physical access," and "economical access." All components showed high reliability (α > 0.75) as did the entire questionnaire (α = 0.94). Correlation analysis demonstrated high convergent (rho: 0.911; p<0.001) and predictive (rho: 0.807; p<0.001) validity. Conclusions: We have here presented the development of the DIQUEST as a screening tool to assess the level of digital inclusion, particularly addressing the access and skills domains. The purpose of this research was to realize a metric study of the scientific production generated between1992-2022, about one of the topics that has acquired greater importance in the educational field, due to the pandemic by COVID-19: the teacher technostress. For that reason, 139 scientific documents indexed in the Web of Science database were examined. The content was analyzed with Excel spreadsheet and with the VOSviewer program. To guarantee the quality of the methodological procedure, the PRISMA protocol was used. First, a bibliometric analysis of the extracted publications was conducted, taking as a reference several indicators of production and dispersion. Secondly, a network analysis was performed, to try to understand the collaboration structure between countries and the conceptual structure of the topic under study. The results highlight that the existing scientific information on technostress in teachers is scarce, that it is widely dispersed by research areas and that there are no major producers on the subject. Likewise, COVID-19 has been a determining turning point that has generated the highest percentage of scientific production recorded to date, which is contributing to give greater visibility to technostress, not only as a psychosocial occupational risk but also to the teaching profession as one of the most vulnerable work collectives in an online environment. Reducing pesticides is an important driver in preserving a healthy and sustainable environment and protecting human health. In the digital era, understanding the role of information and communication technology (ICT) on pesticide use in crucial. Therefore, This study aim to estimate the impact of ICT on farmers' pesticide used. This study uses a cross-sectional data from a survey to 150 farmers in Indonesia. Furthermore, the data is analyzed by ordinary least square (OLS) and instrumental variable quantile regression (IVQR). The main results indicate that ICT has an essential impact on pesticide used reduction. Farmers who has access on the ICT tend to use lower pesticide that the farmers who did not use the ICT. The IVQR results, make the claim more robust, which is show a negative and significant impact of ICT on farmers pesticide use in all quartile groups. The article proposes a taxonomy of knowledge-based and information and communication technology (ICT) networks based on a systematic literature review. The specific objectives focus on (1) presenting knowledge-based and ICT network models, indicating their theoretical context (trends); (2) identifying proposals for knowledge-based network models in the literature (based on SLR); (3) developing a taxonomy of knowledge-based network models; and (4) indicating the directions of their development. The systematic literature review (SLR) methodology was used, which allows not only for a formalized and objectified synthesis of the existing scientific achievements or for the evaluation of previous research. In addition, the "snowball" method was used, and its application was supported by the use of the ResearchRabbit tool. In addition, the taxonomy method (typological analysis, typological approach) was used. The results of SLR were presented: a list of selected types of knowledge-based and ICT networks along with a discussion of the results, and the author's proposals for a taxonomy of knowledge-based and ICT networks were presented along with a synthetic description of the leading models. The practical usefulness of the proposal contained in the study is related to the possibility of using the proposed concept to evaluate various types of network models, which will enable the formulation of diagnostic findings and conducting comparative and dynamic research in the field of analysis and evaluation of knowledge-based and ICT-based network models. The purpose of this study is to examine the determinants of labour productivity in the Eastern Cape. Furthermore, the study estimates the determinant of labour productivity from a sectoral and industry perspective. The technique employed for the empirical analysis is the ARDL bounds test. The empirical results highlight that investment in ICT, health and GDP growth are the crucial determinants of total labour productivity in the Eastern Cape. The sectoral analysis shows that primary sector labour productivity is driven by human capital and investment in ICT. Trade is the most important factor explaining labour productivity in the secondary sector while the tertiary sector is driven by R&D expenditures and ICT investment. The industry analysis revealed results similar to those of the sectoral analysis to some extent. The results imply that the shift to a knowledge-based economy is crucial for the Eastern Cape. The Covid-19 pandemic has ushered in new behaviors and digital practices. This study explores how digital media has advanced safer behavior among ultra-Orthodox Israeli adults during the pandemic in authoritarian societies. We explored the level of adherence to government-issued health guidelines during the Covid-19 pandemic by conducting a public opinion survey among a representative sample of ultra-Orthodox Israeli adults (N = 500) during the second Covid-19 wave (Autumn 2020). The results show that digital media usage significantly contributes to higher levels of adherence to health guidelines. This offers new insight into the field of new media research, revealing the significant role of digital media in promoting safer behavior in times of emergency in authoritarian communities, possibly because it bypasses Internet censorship and disinformation. It also emphasizes the need for adapting risk communication to the media habits and cultural beliefs of different social groups, in turn contributing to well-being and life itself. This research explored the use of ICT products by n = 123 pre-service teachers to complete collaborative assessments. Students responded to a questionnaire relating to the use, benefits and limitations, and what would better enable the use of ICT for collaborative assessment purposes. The ICT products favoured by students did not support some key elements necessary for online collaboration, through either student use or product functionality. Poor Internet access was a commonly cited limitation with the effect of reducing access to available ICT skills training. This article analyses an interdisciplinary educational experience combining music, ICT, language and art to create an animated story with active listening as a means of improving knowledge of music education practices. The method consisted of a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive study, with a semi-structured open-ended interview and analysis of the corresponding portfolio by both students and teachers with the aim of encouraging systematic reflection on practices and optimising teaching-learning in the nature of action research. The research population consisted of 104 students of the Bachelor's Degree in Teaching of the Faculty of Education of the University of Alicante (Spain). The results indicated an improvement in music education practices relating to active listening following the pedagogical intervention, leading to the conclusion that inclusion of ICT in music education facilitates real and effective insertion and enhances students' autonomy in the process of acquisition of musical skills. Students commonly have difficulty with mathematics and mathematical problem solving. Therefore, it is necessary to design and implement interventions aimed at improving these essential components of learning. In this research, a didactic strategy supported by Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) is proposed for teaching mathematics, in the fourth year of Basic General Education (EGB), elementary sublevel, of the Educational Unit (UE) La Salle, in Ecuador. The preliminary data collection tools were questionnaires and interviews. The analysis technique used to analyze the quantitative data was quantitative descriptive. The participants were 50 students (6 to 8 years old), who were divided into two groups (experimental and control). Based on the statistical analysis, it was identified that the use of ICT has a positive impact on the academic performance of students and it was found that ICT is more convincing, effective and valuable in teaching mathematics compared to conventional teaching techniques teaching. It is recommended that digital educational resources be used in the teaching of mathematics to improve the academic performance of elementary school students. Global megatrends, such as digitalisation, and contemporary crises have highlighted the importance of continuous development and learning in the work context. Learning can be inspiring and motivating but also stressful when generating competence that is not applicable or has poor utilisability. In this study, we approached the ambivalent nature of learning at work from the sustainability perspective. According to the literature, sustainability of learning can consist of four broad aspects: transferability and continuity of learning, well-being, and temporality. We aimed to examine experiences of learning among personnel in three work-life contexts: preventive police work, hospitals, and information and computer technology (ICT). Using theory-driven thematic analysis, we revealed a variety of aspects of sustainability of learning and their different emphases in the three studied contexts. The main finding is that learning and well-being are closely intertwined and temporally framed in sustainability of learning. In many ECOWAS countries, the decision-making process for public service delivery has long remained shrouded in secrecy, rendering the general public largely uninformed. Integrating information and communication technology (ICT) into public service delivery seeks to break these barriers. This study, therefore, investigates the impact of e-governance on economic growth among ECOWAS countries, with the specific objectives of examining the effect of four components of e-governance as well as other postulated determinants on economic growth. By employing annual data across 16 ECOWAS countries spanning from 2003 to 2021, using system generalised method of moment (SGMM) and panel-corrected standard error (PCSE) techniques. The results from the PCSE and SGMM estimations show that e-governance positively influences economic growth among ECOWAS countries both in the long- and short-run. Furthermore, the study identifies the significant influence of various control variables on economic growth, persisting in both short and long-run analyses, except for the labour force variable in the short run. This underlines the intrinsic correlation between e-governance and economic growth. Consequently, it becomes imperative for stakeholders within the sub-region to meticulously link investments in e-governance with measurable economic growth outcomes. By doing so, these investments can substantiate expansive initiatives in public service delivery, while simultaneously bridging the historical gap of opacity that has separated citizens from effective government management. State entrepreneurialism in response to external market stimuli has a state intrapreneurialism counterpart – the entrepreneurialism found within public institutions. In moving beyond the case of Singapore from which the idea was proposed, this paper develops the concept of state intrapreneurialism by injecting a greater sense of the political and territorial heterogeneity of, and competition within, national states that fracture the identification of needs, the crafting of policy narratives, and the forging of domestic and international networks. With reference to the case of South Korea, this paper illustrates how state intrapreneurialism has generated domestic and international markets and reputation in the ICT-assisted city management domain despite elements of competition among public agencies. The observed low level of information and communication technology (ICT) usage among micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) firms in many African countries may serve as a major constraint to their productivity. The productivity of service and manufacturing firms is impacted differently due to this low uptake of ICT. This paper seeks to examine the differential effects of ICT on MSMEs' productivity in emerging African economies, specifically Egypt and Nigeria. This study evaluates the effects of ICT on MSMEs' productivity across different sectors (services and manufacturing), by size and aggregated. The estimated results support the positive impact of MSMEs' website presence and use of email on their productivity, though the magnitude varies across different analyses and sectors. This appears to support the differential sectoral impacts of ICT on MSMEs' productivity across countries in emerging markets. Specifically, this study finds evidence for a higher impact of firms' website presence on productivity in the manufacturing sector than the services sector across emerging economies. The study, therefore, recommends that emerging markets economies that want to implement appropriate national technology policies to enhance their firms' productivity should always consider their differential effects on various sectors, as universal ICT policies may not achieve the desired objectives. The essential role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in modern electricity grids makes it necessary to consider them when evaluating the scalability and replicability capabilities of smart grid systems. This paper proposes a novel step-by-step methodology to quantitatively perform an ICT scalability and replicability analysis (SRA) in a smart grid context. The methodology is validated and exemplified by applying it to two real case studies that are demonstrated in the EU-funded RESPONSE project and comprise solutions relying on different communication technologies. The results of the proposed methodology are summarised through ICT scalability and replicability maps, which are introduced in this paper as a quick way of obtaining an overview of the scalability and replicability capabilities of an ICT system and as an efficient way of estimating the feasibility of scenarios not covered in the SRA. We investigate elevators as media. Our central argument is that elevators manipulate information in time. Time manipulation of elevators (movement data + genetic algorithms) produces temporal order. Elevators have become media objects because they produce data that are digitally manipulated to optimize movement. We conducted an empirical study in a multinational corporation that manufactures elevators, including 4 months of field research at multiple locations and interviewed 64 people. We show how time manipulation changes with the information architecture: first, time manipulation took place inside and during the movement of elevators by pushing the buttons. Second, time manipulation took place in the cloud by statistical mathematics. The latest development is toward decentralized social application where elevators as independent media objects manipulate time using genetic algorithms and communicate with each other. Context and background: This study explored the relevance of smart land governance (SLG) for sustainable development in Nigeria. Generally, land governance plays a critical role in land accessibility, security, economic growth, social equity, and environmental preservation. In fairness, Nigeria has recorded numerous successes in the land governance system. Yet, various deficiencies in the land sector are yet to be addressed, disrupting the system effectiveness. These deficiencies impose insecurity on stakeholders while gradually depreciating national values. Reforming the land sector in a smart way is a recent practice that addresses land governance deficiencies using newly developed technological innovations, which are important to accomplish traditional, political, and social goals. This helps to create an inclusive society through equal and accessible land distribution by reshaping policy instruments, financing mechanisms, rules, protocols, and guidelines that govern land matters using technology tools for sustainable development to prevent harm from the present and future generations. Goal and Objectives: The relevance of smart land governance (SLG) in the study area was examined to enhance stakeholders’ proper decision-making in the land sector to promote sustainable development in Nigeria. The objectives examined; a. how smart land governance could enhance the proper decision making of stakeholders in the land sector; b. the ways smart land governance could promote sustainable development for the present and future generations in Nigeria; and c. develop a framework that could enhance smart land governance. Methodology: The study used quantitative research methods to obtain meaningful and useful information. Purposive, systematic, and stratified research sampling techniques, i.e., mixed methods of data collection and analysis, were used. Primary and secondary data were sourced. 120 questionnaires were distributed, and 108 were retrieved. Key stakeholders who are in strategic positions in both the formal and informal land sector were surveyed. Results: The study revealed that smart land governance (SLG) system in Nigeria is possible but require full stakeholder support to maximize their workability and effectiveness, as it will promote transparency and boast an inclusive society for the benefit of present and future generations. Also, an insight into the benefits of smart land governance (SLG) was presented. A framework to enhance stakeholder and policy-maker decision-making was developed. Hence, it was concluded that an investment in advanced technological implements is necessary to stimulate strategic principles with respect to the principal multidimensional mechanisms of SLG. The digitization of consumption, led by information and communications technology (ICT), has reshaped the urban commercial spatial structure (UCSS) of restaurants and retailers. However, the impacts of ICT on UCSS and location selection remain unclear. In this study, based on on-demand food delivery data and real-time traffic data, we used two types of machine learning algorithms, random forest regression (RFR) and the density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN), to study the spatial distribution patterns, driving factors, and new geographical location phenomena of 'brick-and-click' (B&C) stores in Xinjiekou's central business district (CBD) in Nanjing, China. The results show that the UCSS in the CBD is being decentralized, but the degree of influence is related to the business type. Additionally, the scale of demand and the distance from core commercial nodes greatly affect the scales of B&C stores. Moreover, the agglomeration of high-sales B&C stores seems to indicate a micro-location advantage, characterized by the concentration of delivery riders, which is usually located in the commercial hinterland with dense traffic. This makes stores situated in traditionally advantageous locations more attractive for online sales. Thus, ICT enhances the Matthew effect in business competition. In the present communication, the interaction of single‐wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) CNT (C56H16) with endohedral doped superhalogens (MF4:M = B, Al) placed outside of CNT cage and superalkali (Na2F) placed inside the cage has been studied by using a combination of DFT/B3LYP method and 6–311G(d, p) basis set. The geometry and stability of MF4@CNT‐Li2F have been studied using optimization parameters, highest occupied molecular orbit (HOMO), lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO), vibration frequencies, and thermodynamic parameters of absorption reactions. The quantum theory in atoms in molecules (QTAIM) analysis is used to analyze the nature of interactions between MF4 (M = B, Al) and Na2F@CNT. Several electronic parameters are computed by using HOMO–LUMO energy. The dipole moment, polarizability, hyperpolarizability, order parameters, anisotropic polarizability, and molar refractivity of MF4@CNT‐Li2F (M = Al, B) are used to calculate the nonlinear optical parameters (MR). The NBO analysis is used to calculate the transfer of charge to stabilized system. The calculated hyperpolarizability of Na2F@CNT‐BF4/Na2F@CNT‐AlF4 is nearly 81 times that of reference material urea (40 a.u.). Activity theory is of great importance in emphasizing the role of community and intermediary tools in the subject's internalization activities. From the perspective of activity theory, via systematically and comprehensively exploring kinds of different interactions between various elements (e.g. subject, community and tools) in classroom teaching, this study constructed a framework based on ICT-enhanced activity system, and proposed a teaching mode using the constructed framework. To verify its effectiveness in improving classroom interaction and satisfaction, the proposed teaching mode is applied to an engineering course. The experimental results showed that the proposed teaching mode can not only effectively combine theoretical learning with practical application, but also raise students' classroom interaction and satisfaction through rich teaching activities (including such as competitive answering, topic discussion and achievement sharing, etc.). As demonstrated in our experiment, compared with the traditional teaching modes, (i) 83.8% of the participants were more satisfied with the proposed mode, and 70.3% of them preferred that this mode could be maintained in the future teaching; (ii) better instructional design of engineering courses with the accompanying more satisfactions can be gained using the proposed teaching mode. Introduction: The implementation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in daily healthcare practice has become standardized. In relation to education within the nursing degree, ICTs make it possible to carry out practical immersion training from the" classroom or from any other place with an Internet connection, as evidenced by circumstances that have occurred in recent years, such as the pandemic caused by COVID-19. Objective: Design and assess a didactic simulation program for the training of the nursing process that promotes learning in the nursing care Methodology: The methodological approach is quantitative and it is a descriptive cross-sectional study. The sampling method used was non-probabilistic by convenience. Results: When observing the comparison of the averages of student satisfaction with respect to the didactic simulator, it is worth mentioning that all the items are above 2.80 on a score in which "0" is the minimum value and "5" the maximum value. The results of the use of the computer tool by the students, we highlight as significant data that all the items present an average equal to or lower than 3.04 out of 7, where "1" corresponds to a lot of use and "7" to little use. Conclusion: The implication of ICT in the teaching–learning process among Nursing Degree students, it is considered optimal. when analyzing the answers obtained in the items that refer to a higher ease in the execution of development of Care plans, a fundamental work in Nursing performance. Focusing on the low-income elderly women in the Global South, our study situates the discussion on ICT for gender empowerment in an aging context. We aim to explore the role of aging as a biological and socio-cultural factor affecting digital adoption and usage by women in the lower rungs of their societies in developing countries. Grounded in an intersectionality approach, this study maps the dynamic and complicated landscape of their digital practices that are negotiated at the intersection of gender, aging, socioeconomic status, and local digital management policies. Through in-depth interviewing and digital ethnography, we particularly give avoice to the low-income elderly women in China, illuminating their constraining, yet empowering digitalization process during COVID-19. The findings reveal a distinctive understanding of ICT for gender empowerment from aging women’s perspective, shifting away from the personal advancement that typically dominates the agenda of their younger counterparts. The study was based on a qualitative - descriptive methodology in which analytical - synthetic and inductive - deductive methods were used and the survey was used as empirical methods. Purpose: Ghanaian public universities have fully embraced the concept of open access. This is evident in the increasing numbers of institutional repositories (IRs) by universities in Ghana. However, to ensure the sustainability of these IRs, it is vital the current IR infrastructure is capable of responding to current and future demands. The purpose of this study is to investigate the sustainability of the current IR infrastructure of public universities in Ghana. Design/methodology/approach: The convergent parallel mixed methods design was adopted. A total of 830 respondents comprising IR managers, library staff (digitisation and e-resources units), postgraduate students, lecturers and university librarians from five public universities in Ghana were sampled for this study. A questionnaire and a semi-structured interview guide were the main instruments used for data collection. Findings: The findings of this study revealed that the IR infrastructure of public universities in Ghana is robust and has the capacity to expand when the need arises. However, funding, cost of internet connectivity, personnel and erratic power supply were identified as major challenges confronting IRs in Ghana. Originality/value: This study highlighted Ghana's existing IR infrastructure situation. The objective of this paper is to estimate the impact of cloud computing on economic performance. The analysis relies on a multi-equation model in which cloud computing is complementary with broadband to maximize the economic contribution of digital technologies. The proposed model is estimated for a sample of OECD countries, depicting cloud penetration at the sector level. Our results suggest positive effects from cloud adoption on economic outcomes. However, the impact of cloud computing depends on broadband penetration and cloud adoption, which, as expected, vary by country and industry. The sector benefitting from the largest economic impact is information and communications, followed by manufacturing, while in contrast, no impact was detected for the transportation sector. This is one of the first empirical analysis estimating cloud economic spillovers on an aggregated basis, from which important public policy implications can be derived to stimulate the development and adoption of this technology.
