AbstractContext Gallbladder cancer (GBC) is the most common malignant tumour of the biliary tract. Isoalantolactone (IAL), an active sesquiterpene lactone compound isolated from the roots of Inula helenium L. (Asteraceae), has antitumour effects. Objective This study investigates the effects of IAL on GBC.Materials and methods In vitro, NOZ and GBC-SD cells were treated with IAL (0, 10, 20 and 40 μM) for 24 h. The DMSO-treated cells were selected as a control. Cell proliferation, migration, invasion and apoptosis were measured by the CCK-8 assay, transwell assay, flow cytometry and western blot. In vivo, subcutaneous tumour xenografts were constructed by injecting nude mice (BALB/C) with 5 × 106 NOZ cells. Mice were divided into the control group (equal amount of DMSO), the IAL group (10 mg/kg/day) and the IAL + Ro 67-7476 group (IAL, 10 mg/kg/day; Ro 67-7476, 4 mg/kg/day). The study duration was 30 days. Results Compared with the DMSO group, cell proliferation of NOZ (IC50 15.98 μM) and GBC-SD (IC50 20.22 μM) was inhibited by about 70% in the IAL 40 μM group. Migration and invasion were suppressed by about 80%. Cell apoptosis rate was increased about three-fold. The phosphorylation level of ERK was decreased to 30–35%. Tumour volume and weight (about 80% reduction) were suppressed by IAL in vivo. Moreover, the effects of IAL were abolished by Ro 67-7476 in vitro and in vivo.Discussion and conclusions Our findings indicate that IAL could inhibit GBC progression in vitro and in vivo by inhibiting the ERK signalling pathway.

- Abstract
The term another type of connection occurs in several areas of Swedish family laws that concern conflict of laws. The purpose of this text is to define the meaning of this term. Another type of connection has been added to the legislation to be a different possible form of connection to ensure the individual’s opportunity to get their question tried, and a foreign decision recognised, within the Swedish system. The term another type of connec-tion function as an extension of the terms of domicile and nationality. Another type of connection appears in the Swedish laws IFL and IÄL; these two legislations are the focus of the discussion in this text. The term was added to the legislation after a time when the Swedish legislation regarding conflict of laws in the area of family law had been very restricted to only using nationality as a possible connecting factor. This restriction resulted in particular challenges for the judiciary system to define an individual’s con-nection to the state where the decision-making court resides. These challenges form the basis for the reasoning behind adding the term another type of connection to the legislation. Another type of connection has been added to the legislation as a safety feature to prevent situations of denial of justice. The term is intended to be used in only rare cases where the individual’s rights otherwise are threatened. However, it may be concluded that the meaning of the term another type of connection is still unclear, and the Swedish judiciary system must define this more clearly., Begreppet annan anknytning förekommer som anknytningsbegrepp i delar av den internationella privat- och processrätten som berör familjerätten.

- Abstract
This thesis aims to examine the Swedish regulation regarding recognition of child marriages concluded abroad, and its coherence with the European Convention on Human Rights and the EU. Since an amendment to the Swedish law, which became effective on January 1st 2019, marriages concluded abroad by people, who at the time of their marriage were below the age of 18, will not be recognised in Sweden unless there are exceptional circumstances. If the person is still under the age of 18 when the question of recognition arises there are no exceptions to the non-recognition. This can be seen as a continuation of a development restricting the rules of recognition of child marriages that has been shaping the legislation for the last 20 years. According to the legislative history, the new amendment to the law aims to protect the child from marriage, treat all children equally, independent of their origin, as well as make Sweden a role model in the international community regarding child marriages. These objectives can all be questioned. The two first-mentioned objectives will most likely not be fulfilled by this legislation. The European Convention on Human Rights protects, among other rights, the right to marry, the right to not be discriminated against and the right to family life. The Swedish law leaves small room for exceptions. This makes it questionable whether Swedish regulation fulfils the demands of the proportionality principle, which is a fundamental principle of the European Convention of Human Rights. In the EU, the rules of marriageable age differ between different countries. Most countries allow people below the age of 18 to get married with the consent of either the authorities or their parents. In the Swedish regulation there are no exceptions for EU citizens. This means that the Swedish regulation might be in conflict with the rules on free movement as well as the principle of mutual recognition. The conclusions drawn are that on the basis of the purpos

Epidemiological data have linked birth control formulations to an increased risk of infant acute leukemia involving MLL rearrangements. Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) studies showed that 10 nM estradiol enhanced MLL transcription in addition to its common translocation partners, MLLT2 ( AF4) and MLLT3 ( AF9). The same concentration of estradiol triggered MLL and MLLT3 co-localization without affecting the interaction of genes located on the same chromosomes. Estradiol also stimulated the generation of MLL- MLLT3 fusion transcripts as seen by RT-PCR. RNAi knockdown of activation-induced cytidine deaminase (AICDA) suppressed the induction of MLL- MLLT3 fusion transcript formation observed with estradiol. Additionally, chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) analysis showed estradiol dependent localization of AICDA in MLL intron 11, upstream of a hotspot for both DNA cleavage and rearrangement, but not downstream within intron 12. Combined, these studies show that levels of estradiol consistent with that observed during pregnancy have the potential to initiate MLL fusions through an AICDA-mediated mechanism. Fungi that form stable associations with algae and/or cyanobacteria, so-called lichens, are among the evolutionary most successful symbiotic systems with about 28,000 estimated species. In addition, certain groups of bacteria have recently been found to be present in lichen thalli. This symbiotic system consists of partners from at least two domains of life and major clades of eukaryotes and prokaryotes. Thus, it is an excellent model to study the evolution of cooperation. The International Association for Lichenology (IAL) is the society for all scientists working on different aspects of the lichen symbiosis, from diversity and evolution over ecology and physiology to conservation and bioprospecting. Between January 9-13, 2012 the 7th International Symposium of the IAL7 attracted about 300 lichenologists from all over the world (47 countries) to come to Bangkok, Thailand. At the beginning of most days during the meeting, a plenary talk was given on recent progress in different areas of lichenology. Two speakers of plenary talks agreed to prepare a review paper on their presentations. In addition, three of the other contributors to the general symposia agreed to write review papers on recent progress in their fields of lichen research. Four of these five contributions are published following the editorial in this issue of MycoKeys, while one manuscript has been published in the previous issue (Triebel et al. 2012). The scope of the contributions spans from using information technology to handle

The phrase "algorithmic language" is conspicuously associated with Algol, the acronym first used to name the programming language Algol 60, which originated through a cooperation between the ACM and German Association for Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (GAMM) groups of programming specialists. In the 1920s computing real things, solving messy equations, came to be called practical mathematics or numerical analysis, and the techniques to do so were called procedures, schemes, or Verfahren (in German). In the 1950s, however, the venerable notion of an "algorithm" allowed computer users, who were reflecting on developing computing procedures and transferring these to automatic machinery, describe what they thought they were "actually" doing. This article traces the use of the terms "algebraic" to "algorithmic" during the development of the programming language Algol. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
