Uveitis is a heterogeneous polyetiological immune-mediated disease. Its common feature is inflammation of the choroid. The total prevalence of uveitis of various etiologies in the population varies from 15 to 38 people per 100 000. The cause of this pathology can be any infectious or somatic diseases (both endo- and exogenous in nature), when the body’s immune system is activated. The prevalence of the most common endogenous uveitis, caused by secondary foci of infection, is about 3% of the total number of diseases of this etiology. Uveitis, caused by Streptococcus bacteria, affects eyes due to dissemination from the foci of infection, being transmitted through the blood and lymph vessels. An important stage in the clinical diagnosis of uveitis is the determination of the etiological factor, which allows using of pathogenetic treatment regimens. The diagnosis is performed based on the totality of signs characterizing the specificity of the inflammatory process. Treatment and diagnosis of inflammation of the choroid are still one of the urgent tasks of modern ophthalmology.

Aim: to assess the effectiveness and tolerability of anti-VEGF agents, aflibercept (2.0 mg) and ranibizumab (0.5 mg), in the combined treat-ment for wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in routine clinical practice.Patients and Methods: 55 patients (65 eyes) with the late stage of wet AMD were divided into two groups. Group 1 included 32 eyes with classic choroidal neovascularization (CNV) and group 2 included 33 eyes with occult CNV. Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), intraocular pressure, and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness were measured. These parameters were compared at different time points during the treatment.Results: overall AMD duration (January 2019) was 36 (19; 47) months being 30 (12; 44) months in group 1 and 36 (23; 48) months in group 2 (р>0.05). The first intravitreal administration of an anti-VEGF drug was performed 7.5 (3.5; 9.5) months after AMD diagnosis in group 1 and 7 (3; 11) months after AMD diagnosis in group 2. Significant differences in intragroup intervals were revealed between various follow-up periods. More differences were identified for the intervals between intravitreal administrations in group 2. Baseline and final BCVA during the entire follow-up which was 29.5 (19.5; 38) months in group 1 and 28 (25; 44) months in group 2 demonstrated neither intragroup nor intergroup differences (р>0.05). Conclusion: our management strategy for wet AMD is somewhat different from conventional guidelines. Purpose: to set out morphofunctional differences in the ophthalmic status between suspected glaucoma (SG) and the initial stage of primary open angle glaucoma (POAG), determine the values of interocular asymmetry of the analyzed parameters of fellow eyes and create a model able to distinguish, with high accuracy, between healthy subjects, SG patients and POAG patients relying on a few independent parameters. Material and methods. A multicenter study performed between July and November, 2016, by 34 research and clinical facilities of four countries (Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Moldova) involved 501 patients (824 eyes), of which 362 (72 %) were female and 139 (28 %) male. The main analyzed group consisted of 128 eyes with SG, 228 eyes with early stage POAG and 145 eyes of healthy subjects (the control group with comparable sex and age distribution and no history of glaucoma). The fellow-eye symmetry analysis group involved 190 eyes with SG, 336 eyes with early stage POAG and 220 eyes of 110 subjects with no glaucoma. Results. Differences were found in the structural and functional ophthalmologic parameters in early-stage POAG, SG, and the absence of glaucoma. The precision of SG and early POAG may be increased by cumulative consideration of several clinical parameters. Conclusions. The sensitivity and specificity of the integral index of condition prognostication increases when several parameters are analyzed simultaneously, as compared to the separate analysis of constituents.
