Abstract: Abstract We present a comprehensive study of the nonproportionality of NaI(Tl) scintillation detectors within the context of dark matter search experiments. Our investigation, which integrates COSINE-100 data with supplementary $$\gamma $$ γ spectroscopy, measures light yields across diverse energy levels from full-energy $$\gamma $$ γ peaks produced by the decays of various isotopes. These $$\gamma $$ γ peaks of interest were produced by decays supported by both long and short-lived isotopes. Analyzing peaks from decays supported only by short-lived isotopes presented a unique challenge due to their limited statistics and overlapping energies, which was overcome by long-term data collection and a time-dependent analysis. A key achievement is the direct measurement of the 0.87 keV light yield, resulting from the cascade following electron capture decay of $$\mathrm {^{22}Na}$$ 22 Na from internal contamination. This measurement, previously accessible only indirectly, deepens our understanding of NaI(Tl) scintillator behavior in the region of interest for dark matter searches. This study holds substantial implications for background modeling and the interpretation of dark matter signals in NaI(Tl) experiments.

Abstract: Abstract Neutrino elastic scattering observation with NaI (NEON) is an experiment designed to detect neutrino-nucleus coherent scattering using reactor electron antineutrinos. NEON is based on an array of six NaI(Tl) crystals with a total mass of 13.3 kg, located at the tendon gallery that is 23.7 m away from a reactor core with a thermal power of 2.8 GW in the Hanbit nuclear power complex. The installation of the NEON detector was completed in December 2020, and since May 2021, the detector has acquired data at full reactor power. Based on the observed light yields of the NaI crystals of approximately 22, number of photoelectrons per unit keV electron-equivalent energy (keVee), and 6 counts/kg/keV/day background level at 2–6 keVee energy, coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CE $$\nu $$ ν NS) observation sensitivity is evaluated as more than 3 $$\sigma $$ σ assuming 1-year reactor-on and 100 days reactor-off data, 0.2 keVee energy threshold, and 7 counts/keV/kg/day background in the signal region of 0.2 $$-$$ - 0.5 keVee. This paper describes the design of the NEON detector, including the shielding arrangement, configuration of NaI(Tl) crystals, and associated operating systems. The initial performance and associated sensitivity of the experiment are also presented.

3. Performance of an ultra-pure NaI(Tl) detector produced by an indigenously-developed purification method and crystal growth for the COSINE-200 experiment

Abstract: The COSINE-100 experiment has been operating with 106 kg of low-background NaI(Tl) detectors to test the results from the DAMA/LIBRA experiment, which claims to have observed dark matter. However, since the background of the NaI(Tl) crystals used in the COSINE-100 experiment is 2–3 times higher than that in the DAMA detectors, no conclusion regarding the claimed observation from the DAMA/LIBRA experiment could be reached. Therefore, we plan to upgrade the current COSINE-100 experiment to the next phase, COSINE-200, by using ultra-low background NaI(Tl) detectors. The basic principle was already proved with the commercially available Astro-grade NaI powder from Sigma-Aldrich (now Merck) company. However, we have developed a mass production process of ultra-pure NaI powder at the Center for Underground Physics (CUP) of the Institute for Basic Science (IBS), Korea, using the direct purification of the raw NaI powder. We plan to produce more than 1,000 kg of ultra-pure powder for the COSINE-200 experiment. With our crystal grower installed at CUP, we have successfully grown a low-background crystal using our purification technique for the NaI powder. We have assembled a low-background NaI(Tl) detector. In this article, we report the performance of this ultra-pure NaI(Tl) crystal detector produced at IBS, Korea.

Abstract: Abstract We present a background model for dark matter searches using an array of NaI(Tl) crystals in the COSINE-100 experiment that is located in the Yangyang underground laboratory. The model includes background contributions from both internal and external sources, including cosmogenic radionuclides and surface $$^{210}$$ 210 Pb contamination. To build the model in the low energy region, with a threshold of 1 keV, we used a depth profile of $$^{210}$$ 210 Pb contamination in the surface of the NaI(Tl) crystals determined in a comparison between measured and simulated spectra. We also considered the effect of the energy scale errors propagated from the statistical uncertainties and the nonlinear detector response at low energies. The 1.7 years COSINE-100 data taken between October 21, 2016 and July 18, 2018 were used for this analysis. Our Monte Carlo simulation provides a non-Gaussian peak around 50 keV originating from beta decays of bulk $$^{210}$$ 210 Pb in a good agreement with the measured background. This model estimates that the activities of bulk $$^{210}$$ 210 Pb and $$^{3}$$ 3 H are dominating the background rate that amounts to an average level of $$2.85\pm 0.15$$ 2.85 ± 0.15 counts/day/keV/kg in the energy region of (1–6) keV, using COSINE-100 data with a total exposure of 97.7 kg $$\cdot $$ · years.

Abstract: Abstract We report the identification of metastable isomeric states of $$^{228}$$ 228 Ac at 6.28 keV, 6.67 keV and 20.19 keV, with lifetimes of an order of 100 ns. These states are produced by the $$\beta $$ β -decay of $$^{228}$$ 228 Ra, a component of the $$^{232}$$ 232 Th decay chain, with $$\beta $$ β Q-values of 39.52 keV, 39.13 keV and 25.61 keV, respectively. Due to the low Q-value of $$^{228}$$ 228 Ra as well as the relative abundance of $$^{232}$$ 232 Th and their progeny in low background experiments, these observations potentially impact the low-energy background modeling of dark matter search experiments.

Abstract: Abstract We present a search for the dark photon A′ in the B 0 → A′A′ decays, where A′ subsequently decays to e + e − , μ + μ − , and π + π − . The search is performed by analyzing 772 × 106 B B ¯ $$ B\overline{B} $$ events collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB e + e − energy-asymmetric collider at the ϒ(4S) resonance. No signal is found in the dark photon mass range 0.01 GeV/c 2 ≤ m A′ ≤ 2.62 GeV/c 2, and we set upper limits of the branching fraction of B 0 → A′A′ at the 90% confidence level. The products of branching fractions, ℬ B 0 → A ′ A ′ × ℬ A ′ → e + e − 2 $$ \mathrm{\mathcal{B}}\left({B}^0\to A^{\prime }A^{\prime}\right)\times \mathrm{\mathcal{B}}{\left(A\prime \to {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\right)}^2 $$ and ℬ B 0 → A ′ A ′ × ℬ A ′ → μ + μ − 2 $$ \mathrm{\mathcal{B}}\left({B}^0\to A^{\prime }A^{\prime}\right)\times \mathrm{\mathcal{B}}{\left(A\prime \to {\mu}^{+}{\mu}^{-}\right)}^2 $$ , have limits of the order of 10 −8 depending on the A′ mass. Furthermore, considering A′ decay rate to each pair of charged particles, the upper limits of ℬ B 0 → A ′ A ′ $$ \mathrm{\mathcal{B}}\left({B}^0\to A^{\prime }A^{\prime}\right) $$ are of the order of 10 −8–10 −5. From the upper limits of ℬ B 0 → A ′ A ′ $$ \mathrm{\mathcal{B}}\left({B}^0\to A^{\prime }A^{\prime}\right) $$ , we obtain the Higgs portal coupling for each assumed dark photon and dark Higgs mass. The Higgs portal couplings are of the order of 10 −2–10 −1 at m h ′ ≃ m B 0 $$ {m}_{h\prime}\simeq {m}_{B^0} $$ ± 40 MeV/c 2 and 10 −1–1 at m h ′ ≃ m B 0 $$ {m}_{h\prime}\simeq {m}_{B^0} $$ ± 3 GeV/c 2.

7. Development of ultra-pure NaI(Tl) detectors for the COSINE-200 experiment

Abstract: Abstract The annual modulation signal observed by the DAMA experiment is a long-standing question in the community of dark matter direct detection. This necessitates an independent verification of its existence using the same detection technique. The COSINE-100 experiment has been operating with 106 kg of low-background NaI(Tl) detectors providing interesting checks on the DAMA signal. However, due to higher backgrounds in the NaI(Tl) crystals used in COSINE-100 relative to those used for DAMA, it was difficult to reach final conclusions. Since the start of COSINE-100 data taking in 2016, we also have initiated a program to develop ultra-pure NaI(Tl) crystals for COSINE-200, the next phase of the experiment. The program includes efforts of raw powder purification, ultra-pure NaI(Tl) crystal growth, and detector assembly techniques. After extensive research and development of NaI(Tl) crystal growth, we have successfully grown a few small-size (0.61–0.78 kg) thallium-doped crystals with high radio-purity. A high light yield has been achieved by improvements of our detector assembly technique. Here we report the ultra-pure NaI(Tl) detector developments at the Institute for Basic Science, Korea. The technique developed here will be applied to the production of NaI(Tl) detectors for the COSINE-200 experiment.

Abstract: Abstract The first dedicated search for the η c2(1D) is carried out using the decays B + → η c2(1D)K +, B 0 → η c2(1D) K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ , B 0 → η c2(1D)π − K +, and B + → η c2(1D)π + K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ with η c2(1D) → h c γ. No significant signal is found. For the η c2(1D) mass range between 3795 and 3845 MeV/c 2, the branching-fraction upper limits are determined to be ℬ(B + → η c2(1D)K +) × ℬ(η c2(1D) → h c γ) < 3.7 × 10 −5, ℬ(B 0 → η c2(1D)K 0) × ℬ(η c2(1D) → h c γ) < 3.5 × 10 −5, ℬ(B 0 → η c2(1D)π − K +) × ℬ(η c2(1D) → h c γ) < 1.0 × 10 −4, and ℬ(B + → η c2(1D)π + K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ ) × ℬ(η c2(1D) → h c γ) < 1.1 × 10 −4 at 90% C.L. The analysis is based on the 711 fb −1 data sample collected on the ϒ(4S) resonance by the Belle detector, which operated at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e + e − collider.

Abstract: Abstract We report evidence for the charged charmed-strange baryon $$\Xi _{c}(2930)^+$$ Ξc(2930)+ with a signal significance of 3.9$$\sigma $$ σ with systematic errors included. The charged $$\Xi _{c}(2930)^+$$ Ξc(2930)+ is found in its decay to $$K_{S}^{0} \Lambda _{c}^+$$ KS0Λc+ in the substructure of $$\bar{B}^{0} \rightarrow K^{0}_{S} \Lambda _{c}^{+} \bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}$$ B¯0→KS0Λc+Λ¯c- decays. The measured mass and width are $$[2942.3 \pm 4.4 ({\mathrm{stat.}}) \pm {1.5}({\mathrm{syst.}})]$$ [2942.3±4.4(stat.)±1.5(syst.)] MeV/$$c^{2}$$ c2 and $$[14.8 \pm 8.8({\mathrm{stat.}}) \pm {2.5}({\mathrm{syst.}})]$$ [14.8±8.8(stat.)±2.5(syst.)] MeV, respectively, and the product branching fraction is $$\mathcal{B}(\bar{B}^{0} \rightarrow \Xi _c(2930)^{+} \bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}) \mathcal{B}(\Xi _c(2930)^{+}\rightarrow \bar{K}^{0} \Lambda _{c}^{+})=[2.37 \pm 0.51 ({\mathrm{stat.}})\pm 0.31({\mathrm{syst.}})]\times 10^{-4}$$ B(B¯0→Ξc(2930)+Λ¯c-)B(Ξc(2930)+→K¯0Λc+)=[2.37±0.51(stat.)±0.31(syst.)]×10-4 . We also measure $$\mathcal{B}(\bar{B}^{0} \rightarrow \bar{K}^{0} \Lambda _{c}^{+} \bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}) = [3.99 \pm 0.76({\mathrm{stat.}}) \pm 0.51({\mathrm{syst.}})] \times 10^{-4}$$ B(B¯0→K¯0Λc+Λ¯c-)=[3.99±0.76(stat.)±0.51(syst.)]×10-4 with greater precision than previous experiments, and present the results of a search for the charmonium-like state Y(4660) and its spin partner, $$Y_{\eta }$$ Yη , in the $$\Lambda _{c}^{+}\bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}$$ Λc+Λ¯c- invariant mass spectrum. No clear signals of the Y(4660) or $$Y_{\eta }$$ Yη are observed and the 90% credibility level (C.L.) upper limits on their production rates are determined. These measurements are obtained from a sample of $$(772\pm 11)\times 10^{6} B\bar{B}$$ (772±11)×106BB¯ pairs collected at the $$\Upsilon (4S)$$ Υ(4S) resonance by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy electron-positron collider.

Abstract: Abstract We study bottomonium production in association with an $$\eta $$ η meson in $$e^+e^-$$ e+e- annihilations near the $$\varUpsilon (5S)$$ Υ(5S) , at a centre-of-mass energy of $$\sqrt{s}=10.866$$ s=10.866 GeV. The results are based on the 121.4 fb$$^{-1}$$ -1 data sample collected by the Belle experiment at the asymmetric-energy KEKB collider. Only the $$\eta $$ η meson is reconstructed and the missing-mass spectrum of $$\eta $$ η candidates is investigated. We observe the $$e^+e^-\rightarrow \eta \varUpsilon _J(1D)$$ e+e-→ηΥJ(1D) process and find evidence for the $$e^+e^-\rightarrow \eta \varUpsilon (2S)$$ e+e-→ηΥ(2S) process, while no significant signals of $$\varUpsilon (1S)$$ Υ(1S) , $$h_b(1P)$$ hb(1P) , nor $$h_b(2P)$$ hb(2P) are found. Cross sections for the studied processes are reported.

The $$\Xi _{c}(2930)^0$$ Ξc(2930)0 is found in its decay to $$K^- \Lambda _{c}^+$$ K-Λc+ in $$B^{-} \rightarrow K^{-} \Lambda _{c}^{+} \bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}$$ B-→K-Λc+Λ¯c- decays. The measured mass and width are $$[2928.9 \pm 3.0(\mathrm stat.)^{+0.9}_{-12.0}(\mathrm syst.)]$$ [2928.9±3.0(stat.)-12.0+0.9(syst.)] MeV/$$c^{2}$$ c2 and $$[19.5 \pm 8.4(\mathrm stat.) ^{+5.9}_{-7.9}(\mathrm syst.)]$$ [19.5±8.4(stat.)-7.9+5.9(syst.)] MeV, respectively, and the product branching fraction is $$\mathcal{B}(B^{-} \rightarrow \Xi _{c}(2930)^0 \bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}) \mathcal{B}(\Xi _{c}(2930)^0 \rightarrow K^- \Lambda _{c}^{+})=[1.73 \pm 0.45(\mathrm stat.) \pm 0.21(\mathrm syst.)]\times 10^{-4}$$ B(B-→Ξc(2930)0Λ¯c-)B(Ξc(2930)0→K-Λc+)=[1.73±0.45(stat.)±0.21(syst.)]×10-4 . We also measure $$\mathcal{B}(B^{-} \rightarrow K^{-} \Lambda _{c}^{+} \bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}) = [4.80 \pm 0.43(\mathrm stat.) \pm 0.60(\mathrm syst.)] \times 10^{-4}$$ B(B-→K-Λc+Λ¯c-)=[4.80±0.43(stat.)±0.60(syst.)]×10-4 with improved precision, and search for the charmonium-like state Y(4660) and its spin partner, $$Y_{\eta }$$ Yη , in the $$\Lambda _{c}^{+}\bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}$$ Λc+Λ¯c- invariant mass spectrum. The national storm and flood insurance Premium rate is very low and the risk of adverse selection resides because of choosing by who lives in high risk area. To solve these problems, the storm and flood insurance rate map are required. In this study, the prototype of storm and flood insurance premium rate map of the Ulsan, Korea was made and the method of GIS analysis for the insurance premium rate calculating and the procedure of the Ulsan storm and flood insurance rate map were researched.

Abstract: Using data samples of 89.5 and 711fb$^{-1}$ recorded at energies of $\sqrt{s}$=10.52 and 10.58 GeV, respectively, with the Belle detector at the KEKB e$^{+}$e$^{-}$ collider, we report measurements of branching fractions of semileptonic decays Ξ$_{c}$$^{0}$ → Ξ$^{-}$l$^{+}$ν$_{l}$(l=e or μ) and the CP-asymmetry parameter of Ξ$_{c}$$^{0}$ → Ξ$^{-}$π$^{+}$ decay. The branching fractions are measured to be B(Ξ$_{c}$$^{0}$ → Ξ$^{-}$e$^{+}$ν$_{e}$)= 1.31±0.04±0.07±0.38)% and B(Ξ$_{c}$$^{0}$ → Ξ$^{-}$μ$^{+}$ν$_{μ}$ = (1.27±0.06±0.10±0.37)% , and the decay parameter α$_{Ξπ}$ is measured to be 0.63±0.03±0.01 with much improved precision compared with the current world average. The corresponding ratio B(Ξ$_{c}$$^{0}$ → Ξ$^{-}$e$^{+}$ν$_{e}$) /B(Ξ$_{c}$$^{0}$ → Ξ$^{-}$μ$^{+}$ν$_{μ}$) is 1.03±0.05±0.07, which is consistent with the expectation of lepton flavor universality. The first measured asymmetry parameter A$_{CP}$=(α$_{Ξ^{-}π^{+}}$+α$_{Ξ^{+}π^{-}}$)/(α$_{Ξ^{-}π^{+}}$+α$_{Ξ^{+}π^{-}}$) = 0.024±0.052±0.014 is found to be consistent with zero. The first and the second uncertainties above are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third ones arise due to the uncertainty of the Ξ$_{c}$$^{0}$ → Ξ$^{-}$π$^{+}$ branching fraction.

Abstract: We report results from a study of the spin and parity of $\Xi_{c}(2970)^+$ using a $980~\mathrm{fb^{-1}}$ data sample collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. The decay angle distributions in the chain $\Xi_{c}(2970)^+ \to \Xi_c(2645)^{0}\pi^{+} \to \Xi_c^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{+}$ are analyzed to determine the spin of this charmed-strange baryon. The angular distributions strongly favor the $\Xi_{c}(2970)^+$ spin $J =1/2$ over $3/2$ or $5/2$, under an assumption that the lowest partial wave dominates in the decay. We also measure the ratio of $\Xi_{c}(2970)^+$ decay branching fractions $R={\mathcal{B}[ \Xi_{c}(2970)^+ \to \Xi_c(2645)^{0}\pi^{+} ]} / { \mathcal{B}[ \Xi_{c}(2970)^+ \to \Xi_c^{\prime0}\pi^{+} ]} =1.67 \pm 0.29\mathrm{(stat.)}^{ +0.15}_{ -0.09}\mathrm{(syst.)} \pm 0.25\mathrm{(IS)}$, where the last uncertainty is due to possible isospin-symmetry-breaking effects. This $R$ value favors the spin-parity $J^P=1/2^+$ with the spin of the light-quark degrees of freedom $s_{l}=0$. This is the first determination of the spin and parity of a charmed-strange baryon.

Abstract: We report measurements of the branching fractions of singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays Λc+→pη and Λc+→pπ0 using the full Belle data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 980.6 fb-1. The data were collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- asymmetric energy collider. A clear Λc+ signal is seen in the invariant mass distribution of pη. The fitted number of signal events of the Λc+→pη process is 7734±263; from this, we measure the ratio of branching fractions B(Λc+→pη)/B(Λc+→pK-π+)=[2.258±0.077(stat)±0.122(syst)]×10-2, from which we infer the branching fraction B(Λc+→pη)=[1.42±0.05(stat)±0.11(syst)]×10-3. In addition, no significant signal for Λc+→pπ0 is found, so an upper limit on the branching fraction of B(Λc+→pπ0)

Abstract: We report the first evidence for $X(3872)$ production in two-photon interactions by tagging either the electron or the position in the final state, exploring the highly virtual photon region. The search is performed in $e^+e^- \rightarrow e^+e^-J/\psi\pi^+\pi^-$, using 825 fb$^{-1}$ of data collected by the Belle detector operated at the KEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. We observe three $X(3872)$ candidates with an expected background of $0.11\pm 0.10$ events, with a significance of 3.2$\sigma$. We obtain an estimated value for $\tilde{\Gamma}_{\gamma\gamma}{\cal B}(X(3872)\rightarrow J/\psi\pi^+\pi^-$) assuming the $Q^2$ dependence predicted by a $c\bar{c}$ meson model, where $-Q^2$ is the invariant mass-squared of the virtual photon. No $X(3915)\rightarrow J/\psi\pi^+\pi^-$ candidates are found.

Abstract: Using data samples of 89.5 and 711 fb^{-1} recorded at energies of sqrt[s]=10.52 and 10.58 GeV, respectively, with the Belle detector at the KEKB e^{+}e^{-} collider, we report measurements of branching fractions of semileptonic decays Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}ℓ^{+}ν_{ℓ} (ℓ=e or μ) and the CP-asymmetry parameter of Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}π^{+} decay. The branching fractions are measured to be B(Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}e^{+}ν_{e})=(1.31±0.04±0.07±0.38)% and B(Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}μ^{+}ν_{μ})=(1.27±0.06±0.10±0.37)%, and the decay parameter α_{Ξπ} is measured to be 0.63±0.03±0.01 with much improved precision compared with the current world average. The corresponding ratio B(Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}e^{+}ν_{e})/B(Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}μ^{+}ν_{μ}) is 1.03±0.05±0.07, which is consistent with the expectation of lepton flavor universality. The first measured asymmetry parameter A_{CP}=(α_{Ξ^{-}π^{+}}+α_{Ξ[over ¯]^{+}π^{-}})/(α_{Ξ^{-}π^{+}}-α_{Ξ[over ¯]^{+}π^{-}})=0.024±0.052±0.014 is found to be consistent with zero. The first and the second uncertainties above are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third ones arise due to the uncertainty of the Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}π^{+} branching fraction.

Abstract: We measure the time-dependent $C\!P$ violation parameters in $B^{0} \to K^{0}_{S}K^{0}_{S}K^{0}_{S}$ decays using $772 \times 10^6$ $B {\mkern 1.5mu\overline{\mkern-1.5mu B \mkern-0.1mu}\mkern 0.1mu}$ pairs collected at the $\Upsilon (4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. The obtained mixing-induced and direct $C\!P$ asymmetries are $-0.71 \pm 0.23~{\rm(stat)} \pm 0.05~{\rm(syst)}$ and $0.12 \pm 0.16~{\rm(stat)} \pm 0.05~{\rm(syst)}$, respectively. These values are consistent with the Standard Model predictions. The significance of $C\!P$ violation differs from zero by 2.5 standard deviations.

Abstract: We report the results of a first search for a doubly charged DDK bound state, denoted the R++, in ϒ(1S) and ϒ(2S) inclusive decays and via direct production in e+e- collisions at s=10.520, 10.580, and 10.867 GeV. The search uses data accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. No significant signals are observed in the D+Ds∗+ invariant-mass spectra of all studied modes. The 90% credibility level upper limits on their product branching fractions in ϒ(1S) and ϒ(2S) inclusive decays (B(ϒ(1S, 2S)→R+++anything)×B(R++→D+Ds∗+)), the product values of Born cross section and branching fraction in e+e- collisions (σ(e+e-→R+++anything)×B(R++→D+Ds∗+)) at s=10.520, 10.580, and 10.867 GeV under different assumptions of R++ masses varying from 4.13 to 4.17 GeV/c2 and widths varying from 0 to 5 MeV are obtained.

Abstract: We present the results of the first Dalitz plot analysis of the decay D0→K-π+η. The analysis is performed on a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 953 fb-1 collected by the Belle detector at the asymmetric-energy e+e- KEKB collider. The Dalitz plot is well described by a combination of the six resonant decay channels K∗(892)0η, K-a0(980)+, K-a2(1320)+, K∗(1410)0η, K∗(1680)-π+ and K2∗(1980)-π+, together with Kπ and Kη S-wave components. The decays K∗(1680)-→K-η and K2∗(1980)-→K-η are observed for the first time. We measure ratio of the branching fractions, B(D0→K-π+η)B(D0→K-π+)=0.500±0.002(stat)±0.020(syst)±0.003(BPDG). Using the Dalitz fit result, the ratio B(K∗(1680)→Kη)B(K∗(1680)→Kπ) is measured to be 0.11±0.02(stat)-0.04+0.06(syst)±0.04(BPDG); this is much lower than the theoretical expectations (≈1) made under the assumption that K∗(1680) is a pure 13D1 state. The product branching fraction B(D0→[K2∗(1980)-→K-η]π+)=(2.2-1.9+1.7)×10-4 is determined. In addition, the πη′ contribution to the a0(980)± resonance shape is confirmed with 10.1σ statistical significance using the three-channel Flatte model. We also measure B(D0→K∗(892)0η)=(1.41-0.12+0.13)%. This is consistent with, and more precise than, the current world average (1.02±0.30)%, deviates with a significance of more than 3σ from the theoretical predictions of (0.51-0.92)%.

Abstract: The experimental results on the ratios of branching fractions $\mathcal{R}(D) = {\cal B}(\bar{B} \to D \tau^- \bar{\nu}_{\tau})/{\cal B}(\bar{B} \to D \ell^- \bar{\nu}_{\ell})$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^*) = {\cal B}(\bar{B} \to D^* \tau^- \bar{\nu}_{\tau})/{\cal B}(\bar{B} \to D^* \ell^- \bar{\nu}_{\ell})$, where $\ell$ denotes an electron or a muon, show a long-standing discrepancy with the Standard Model predictions, and might hint to a violation of lepton flavor universality. We report a new simultaneous measurement of $\mathcal{R}(D)$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^*)$, based on a data sample containing $772 \times 10^6$ $B\bar{B}$ events recorded at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+ e^-$ collider. In this analysis the tag-side $B$ meson is reconstructed in a semileptonic decay mode and the signal-side $\tau$ is reconstructed in a purely leptonic decay. The measured values are $\mathcal{R}(D)= 0.307 \pm 0.037 \pm 0.016$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^*) = 0.283 \pm 0.018 \pm 0.014$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. These results are in agreement with the Standard Model predictions within $0.2$, $1.1$ and $0.8$ standard deviations for $\mathcal{R}(D)$, $\mathcal{R}(D^*)$ and their combination, respectively. This work constitutes the most precise measurements of $\mathcal{R}(D)$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^*)$ performed to date as well as the first result for $\mathcal{R}(D)$ based on a semileptonic tagging method.

Abstract: Theories beyond the standard model often predict the existence of an additional neutral boson, the Z′. Using data collected by the Belle II experiment during 2018 at the SuperKEKB collider, we perform the first searches for the invisible decay of a Z′ in the process e+e-→μ+μ-Z′ and of a lepton-flavor-violating Z′ in e+e-→e±μZ′. We do not find any excess of events and set 90% credibility level upper limits on the cross sections of these processes. We translate the former, in the framework of an Lμ-Lτ theory, into upper limits on the Z′ coupling constant at the level of 5×10-2-1 for MZ′≤6 GeV/c2.

Abstract: We report the result for a search for the leptonic decay of B$^{+}$ → μ$^{+}$ν$_{μ}$ using the full Belle dataset of 711 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity at the ϒ(4S) resonance. In the Standard Model leptonic B-meson decays are helicity and Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa suppressed. To maximize sensitivity an inclusive tagging approach is used to reconstruct the second B meson produced in the collision. The directional information from this second B meson is used to boost the observed μ into the signal B-meson rest frame, in which the μ has a monochromatic momentum spectrum. Though its momentum is smeared by the experimental resolution, this technique improves the analysis sensitivity considerably. Analyzing the μ momentum spectrum in this frame we find B(B$^{+}$ → μ$^{+}$ν$_{μ}$) = 5.3 ± 2.0 ± 0.9) × 10$^{-7}$ with a one-sided significance of 2.8 standard deviations over the background-only hypothesis. This translates to a frequentist upper limit of B(B$^{+}$ → μ$^{+}$ν$_{μ}$) < 8.6 × 10$^{-7}$ at 90% confidence level. The experimental spectrum is then used to search for a massive sterile neutrino, B$^{+}$ → μ$^{+}$N, but no evidence is observed for a sterile neutrino with a mass in a range of 0–1.5 GeV. The determined B$^{+}$ → μ$^{+}$ν$_{μ}$ branching fraction limit is further used to constrain the mass and coupling space of the type II and type III two-Higgs-doublet models.

Abstract: Theories beyond the standard model often predict the existence of an additional neutral boson, the Z^{'}. Using data collected by the Belle II experiment during 2018 at the SuperKEKB collider, we perform the first searches for the invisible decay of a Z^{'} in the process e^{+}e^{-}→μ^{+}μ^{-}Z^{'} and of a lepton-flavor-violating Z^{'} in e^{+}e^{-}→e^{±}μ^{∓}Z^{'}. We do not find any excess of events and set 90% credibility level upper limits on the cross sections of these processes. We translate the former, in the framework of an L_{μ}-L_{τ} theory, into upper limits on the Z^{'} coupling constant at the level of 5×10^{-2}-1 for M_{Z^{'}}≤6 GeV/c^{2}.

Abstract: The annual modulation signal observed by the DAMA experiment is a long-standing question in the community of dark matter direct detection. This necessitates an independent verification of its existence using the same detection technique. The COSINE-100 experiment has been operating with 106~kg of low-background NaI(Tl) detectors providing interesting checks on the DAMA signal. However, due to higher backgrounds in the NaI(Tl) crystals used in COSINE-100 relative to those used for DAMA, it was difficult to reach final conclusions. Since the start of COSINE-100 data taking in 2016, we also have initiated a program to develop ultra-pure NaI(Tl) crystals for COSINE-200, the next phase of the experiment. The program includes efforts of raw powder purification, ultra-pure NaI(Tl) crystal growth, and detector assembly techniques. After extensive research and development of NaI(Tl) crystal growth, we have successfully grown a few small-size (0.61$-$0.78 kg) thallium-doped crystals with high radio-purity. A high light yield has been achieved by improvements of our detector assembly technique. Here we report the ultra-pure NaI(Tl) detector developments at the Institute for Basic Science, Korea. Abstract: Journal of high energy physics 2020(5), 34 (2020). doi:10.1007/JHEP05(2020)034, The first dedicated search for the η$_{c2}$(1D) is carried out using the decays B$^{+}$→ η$_{c2}$(1D)K$^{+}$, B$^{0}$ → η$_{c2}$(1D)$ {K}_S^0 $, B$^{0}$→ η$_{c2}$(1D)π$^{−}$K$^{+}$, and B$^{+}$→ η$_{c2}$(1D)π$^{+} {K}_S^0 $ with η$_{c2}$(1D) → h$_{c}$γ. No significant signal is found. For the η$_{c2}$(1D) mass range between 3795 and 3845 MeV/c$^{2}$, the branching-fraction upper limits are determined to be ℬ(B$^{+}$→ η$_{c2}$(1D)K$^{+}$) × ℬ(η$_{c2}$(1D) → h$_{c}$γ) < 3.7 × 10$^{−5}$, ℬ(B$^{0}$→ η$_{c2}$(1D)K$^{0}$) × ℬ(η$_{c2}$(1D) → h$_{c}$γ) < 3.5 × 10$^{−5}$, ℬ(B$^{0}$→ η$_{c2}$(1D)π$^{−}$K$^{+}$) × ℬ(η$_{c2}$(1D) → h$_{c}$γ) < 1.0 × 10$^{−4}$, and ℬ(B$^{+}$→ η$_{c2}$(1D)π$^{+} {K}_S^0 $) × ℬ(η$_{c2}$(1D) → h$_{c}$γ) < 1.1 × 10$^{−4}$ at 90% C.L. Abstract: Using a data sample of 921.9 fb-1 collected with the Belle detector, we study the process of e+e-→Ds+Ds1(2536)-+c.c. via initial-state radiation. We report the first observation of a vector charmoniumlike state decaying to Ds+Ds1(2536)-+c.c. with a significance of 5.9σ, including systematic uncertainties. The measured mass and width are (4625.9-6.0+6.2(stat)±0.4(syst)) MeV/c2 and (49.8-11.5+13.9(stat)±4.0(syst)) MeV, respectively. The product of the e+e-→Ds+Ds1(2536)-+c.c. cross section and the branching fraction of Ds1(2536)-→D¯*0K- is measured from the DsD¯s1(2536) threshold to 5.59 GeV.

Abstract: Using the data sample of 711 fb-1 of ϒ(4S) on-resonance data taken by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider, we present the first measurements of branching fractions of the decays B-→Λ¯c-Ξc′0, B-→Λ¯c-Ξc(2645)0, and B-→Λ¯c-Ξc(2790)0. The signal yields for these decays are extracted from the recoil mass spectrum of the system recoiling against Λ¯c- baryons in selected B- candidates. The branching fraction of B-→Λ¯c-Ξc(2790)0 is measured to be (1.1±0.4±0.2)×10-3, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The 90% credibility level upper limits on B(B-→Λ¯c-Ξc′0) and B(B-→Λ¯c-Ξc(2645)0) are determined to be 6.5×10-4 and 7.9×10-4, respectively.

36. Status of Neutrino Elastic-scattering Observation with NaI(Tl) experiment

Abstract: Coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CE υNS) has an important role in measuring neutrino properties and proving non-standard interactions. Neutrino Elastic-scattering Observation with NaI(Tl) experiment (NEON) aims to detect this CE υNS in a NaI(Tl) crystal using reactor anti-electron neutrino at Hanbit nuclear power plant. NEON detector, which is installed 24 m distance away from the active reactor core, consists of a 15 kg NaI(Tl) in the radiation shielding structures including a 700 L liquid scintillator. Data taking has started from December 2020, which includes 1-month reactor-off period. We report the current status of NEON experiment in this talk.

Abstract: The Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB e + e − collider in KEK, Japan, started physics data-taking with a complete detector from early 2019. An online trigger system is indispensable for the Belle II experiment to reduce the beam background events associated with high electron and positron beam currents without sacrificing the target physics-oriented events. During the Belle II operation upon beam collision, the trigger system must be consistently controlled and its status must be carefully monitored in the process of data acquisition against unexpected situations. For this purpose, we have developed a slow control system for the newly developed Belle II trigger system based on the custom-made Belle II DAQ/slow control package. Around seventy thousand configuration parameters are saved in the Belle II central database server for every run when a run starts and stops. These parameters play an essential role in offline validation of the quality of runs. Around three thousand real-time variables are stored in the Belle II main archiving server, and the trend of some of these variables are regularly used for online and offline monitoring purposes. Various operator interface tools have been prepared and used. When the configuration parameters are not correctly applied, or some of the processes are unexpectedly terminated, the slow control system detects it, stops the data-taking process, and generates an alarm. In this article, we report how we constructed the Belle II trigger slow control system, and how we successfully managed to operate during its initial stage.

Abstract: We report measurements of the branching fractions and CP asymmetries for [Formula: see text] , [Formula: see text] , and [Formula: see text] decays, and the branching fraction for [Formula: see text]. Our results are based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 921 fb⁻¹ collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB e⁺e⁻ asymmetric-energy collider. Our measurements of CP asymmetries in these decays are the most precise to date; no evidence for CP violation is found.

Abstract: We present the first measurement of the Michel parameters η ‾ and ξκ in the radiative leptonic decay of the τ lepton using 703 fb-1 of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e + e − collider. The Michel parameters are measured by an unbinned maximum likelihood fit to the kinematic information of e + e − → τ + τ − → ( π + π 0 ν ‾ ) ( l − ν ν ‾ γ ) ( l = e or μ ) . The preliminary values of the measured Michel parameters are η ‾ = − 2.0 ± 1.5 ± 0.8 and ξ κ = 0.6 ± 0.4 ± 0.2 , where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic.

Abstract: Ozone dosage in most water treatment plants is operated by determining the ozone concentration with the experience of the operation. In this case, it is not economical. This study selected the factors affecting residual ozone concentration and attempted to estimate the optimum amount of hydrogen peroxide dosage for the control of the residual ozone concentration by developing a model for the prediction of the residual ozone concentration. The prediction formulas developed in this study can quickly respond to the environment of water quality and surrounding environmental factors, which change in real time, so it is judged that they could be used for the operation of the optimum ozone process, and the control of ozone dosage could be used as a new method in controlling the concentration of ozone dosage and the concentration of residual ozone.

Abstract: Using data samples of e+e- collisions collected at the ϒ(1S), ϒ(2S), and ϒ(3S) resonances with the Belle detector, we search for the three-body decay of the Ω(2012) baryon to KπΞ. This decay is predicted to dominate for models describing the Ω(2012) as a KΞ(1530) molecule. No significant Ω(2012) signals are observed in the studied channels, and 90% credibility level upper limits on the ratios of the branching fractions relative to KΞ decay modes are obtained.

Abstract: We present the first measurements of the absolute branching fractions of $\Xi_c^+$ decays into $\Xi^- \pi^+ \pi^+$ and $p K^- \pi^+$ final states. Our analysis is based on a data set of $(772\pm 11)\times 10^{6}$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. We measure the absolute branching fraction of $\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{\Lambda}_{c}^{-} \Xi_{c}^{+}$ with the $\Xi_c^+$ recoiling against $\bar{\Lambda}_c^-$ in $\bar{B}^0$ decays resulting in ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{\Lambda}_{c}^{-} \Xi_{c}^{+}) = [1.16 \pm 0.42(\rm stat.) \pm 0.15(\rm syst.)] \times 10^{-3}$. We then measure the product branching fractions ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{\Lambda}_c^- \Xi_c^+){\cal B}(\Xi_c^+ \to \Xi^- \pi^+ \pi^+)$ and ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{\Lambda}_c^- \Xi_c^+){\cal B}(\Xi_c^+ \to p K^- \pi^+)$. Dividing these product branching fractions by $\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{\Lambda}_{c}^{-} \Xi_{c}^{+}$ yields: ${\cal B}(\Xi_c^+ \to \Xi^- \pi^+ \pi^+) = [2.86 \pm 1.21(\rm stat.) \pm 0.38(\rm syst.)]\%$ and ${\cal B}(\Xi_c^+ \to p K^- \pi^+)=[0.45 \pm 0.21(\rm stat.) \pm 0.07(\rm syst.)]\%$. Our result for ${\cal B}(\Xi_c^+ \to \Xi^- \pi^+ \pi^+)$ can be combined with $\Xi_c^+$ branching fractions measured relative to $\Xi_c^+ \to \Xi^- \pi^+ \pi^+$ to set the absolute scale for many $\Xi_c^+$ branching fractions.

43. Overview of the Electromagnetic Calorimeter Trigger system at the Belle II Experiment

Abstract: The Belle II at the SuperKEKB collider in Japan has been constructed toward a physics run in early of 2018 with an ultimate target of 40 times higher instantaneous luminosity than the KEKB collider, which was $2.1\times10^{34} cm^{-2} s^{-1}$. The main physics motivation is to search for the New Physcis from heavy quark/lepton flavor decays. We have upgraded the Electromagnetic Calorimeter(ECL) hardware trigger system in order to select an event of interest efficiently under much higher luminosity and beam background environment than the KEKB. ECL trigger logic based on two main triggers, the total energy and the number of clusters, would be improved with an FPGA-based flexible architecture and a high speed serial link for the data transfer. In this report, progress of the ECL trigger system development will be outlined and preliminary results from beam collision data in Phase II run will be described.

Abstract: We report a measurement of the branching fraction and final-state asymmetry for the $\bar{B}^{0}\to K^{0}_{S}K^{\mp}\pi^{\pm}$ decays. The analysis is based on a data sample of 711 $\rm{fb}^{-1}$ collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. We obtain a branching fraction of $(3.60\pm0.33\pm0.15)\times10^{-6}$ and a final-state asymmetry of $(-8.5\pm8.9\pm0.2)\%$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. Hints of peaking structures are seen in the differential branching fractions measured as functions of Dalitz variables.

Abstract: We report measurements of the production cross sections of charged pions, kaons, and protons as a function of fractional energy, the event-shape variable called thrust, and the transverse momentum with respect to the thrust axis. These measurements access the transverse momenta created in the fragmentation process, which are of critical importance to the understanding of any transverse-momentum-dependent distribution and fragmentation functions. The low transverse-momentum part of the cross sections can be well described by Gaussians in transverse momentum as is generally assumed but the fractional-energy dependence is nontrivial and different hadron types have varying Gaussian widths. The width of these Gaussians decreases with thrust and shows an initially rising, then decreasing fractional-energy dependence. The widths for pions and kaons are comparable within uncertainties, while those for protons are significantly narrower. These single-hadron cross sections and Gaussian widths are obtained from a 558 fb-1 data sample collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider.

Abstract: We report the first observation of the doubly-strange baryon $\Xi(1620)^0$ in its decay to $\Xi^-\pi^+$ via $\Xi_c^+ \rightarrow \Xi^- \pi^+ \pi^+$ decays based on a $980\,{\rm fb}^{-1}$ data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. The mass and width are measured to be 1610.4 $\pm$ 6.0 (stat) $^{+5.9}_{-3.5}$ (syst)~MeV$/c^2$ and 59.9 $\pm$ 4.8 (stat) $^{+2.8}_{-3.0}$ (syst)~MeV, respectively. We obtain 4.0$\sigma$ evidence of the $\Xi(1690)^0$ with the same data sample. These results shed light on the structure of hyperon resonances with strangeness $S=-2$.

Abstract: We study charmless hadronic decays of charged B mesons to the final states KS0KS0K± and KS0KS0π± using a 711 fb-1 data sample that contains 772×106 BB¯ pairs and was collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. For B±→KS0KS0K±, the measured branching fraction and direct CP asymmetry are [10.42±0.43(stat)±0.22(syst)]×10-6 and [+1.6±3.9(stat)±0.9(syst)]%, respectively. In the absence of a statistically significant signal for B±→KS0KS0π±, we obtain a 90% confidence-level upper limit on its branching fraction as 8.7×10-7.

Abstract: We report measurements of isospin asymmetry $\Delta_{0-}$ and difference of direct $CP$ asymmetries $\Delta A_{CP}$ between charged and neutral $B \to X_s \gamma$ decays. This analysis is based on the data sample containing $772 \times 10^6 B\bar{B}$ pairs that was collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric $e^+ e^-$ collider. Using a sum-of-exclusive technique with invariant $X_s$ mass up to 2.8~GeV/$c^2$, we obtain $\Delta_{0-} = \bigl[-0.48 \pm 1.49 {\rm (stat.)} \pm 0.97 {\rm (syst.)} \pm 1.15 {(f_{+-}/f_{00})}\bigr]$\% and $\Delta A_{CP} = \bigl[+3.69 \pm 2.65 {\rm (stat.)} \pm 0.76{\rm (syst.)}\bigr]$\%, where the last uncertainty for $\Delta_{0-}$ is due to the uncertainty on the production ratio of $B^+B^-$ to $B^0\bar{B}^0$ in $\Upsilon(4S)$ decays. The measured value of $\Delta_{0-}$ is consistent with zero, allowing us to constrain the resolved photon contribution in the $B \to X_s \gamma$, and improve the branching fraction prediction. The result for $\Delta A_{CP}$ is consistent with the prediction of the SM. We also measure the direct $CP$ asymmetries for charged and neutral $B \to X_s \gamma$ decays. All the measurements are the most precise to date.

Abstract: We report the study of B+→pΛ¯K+K- and B+→p¯ΛK+K+ decays using a 772×106 BB¯ pair data sample recorded on the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at KEKB. The following branching fractions are measured: B(B+→pΛ¯K+K-)=(4.10-0.43+0.45±0.50)×10-6, B(B+→p¯ΛK+K+)=(3.70-0.37+0.39±0.44)×10-6, B(ηc→pΛ¯K-+c.c.)=(2.83-0.34+0.36±0.35)×10-3 and B(B+→pΛ¯ϕ)=( 7.95±2.09±0.77)×10-7, where c.c. denotes the corresponding charge-conjugation process. The intermediate resonance decays are excluded in the four-body decay measurements. We also find evidence for B(ηc→Λ(1520)Λ¯+c.c.)=(3.48±1.48±0.46)×10-3 and B(B+→Λ(1520)Λ¯K+)=( 2.23±0.63±0.25)×10-6. No significant signals are found for J/ψ→Λ(1520)Λ¯+c.c. and B+→Λ¯(1520)ΛK+; we set the 90% confidence level upper limits on their decay branching fractions as
