1. ¿Puede el desarrollo ser sostenible, integral y coherente?

Abstract

At the RISC 2017 International Congress, we reflected on the possibility of achieving a "sustainable, integral and coherent development." We primarily report here on the panel of Mexican experts who shared their experiences on issues such as the impact of the international agenda on the local policy priorities, the relevance of the participation of local stakeholders and the occurrence of inconsistencies throughout the process of design and implementation of development policies. In addition, other experiences were presented on these issues, some of which are included in this special issue. The general conclusion was that not only is it possible to articulate a sustainable, integral and coherent development but also that approaches and tools are already emerging that favor it through an evidence-based policy management and the use of the growing "environmental big data" that already exists. 2. Candidate revolving chiral doublet bands in Cs-119

Abstract

Two rotational hands are identified in Cs-119, one of which having very similar pattern to that of the strongly-coupled pi g(9/2)[404]9/2(+) band. The properties of the bands with similar patterns extracted from the experimental data are in agreement with a chiral interpretation. Tilted axis cranking covariant density functional theory with pairing correlations and particle-number conserving cranked shell model calculations are employed to determine the deformation and to investigate the band configurations, respectively. It results that the backbending is induced by the rotational alignment of two h(11/2 )protons, whose angular momenta reorient from the short to the intermediate axis, in a plane orthogonal to the angular momentum of the strongly-coupled g(9/2) proton which keeps aligned along the long axis. The total spin points in 3D, inducing the breaking of the chiral symmetry. This is the first observation of candidate chiral bands built on a configuration with three protons, one in the strongly coupled [404]9/2(+) orbital which does not change orientation with increasing rotational frequency, and two in the h(1)(1/)(2) orbital which reorients to the rotation axis. The bands are observed in the transient backbending regime, showing that the chirality in nuclei is a general phenomenon, being robust and present not only in nuclei with nearly maximal triaxiality and pure configurations, but also in nuclei with moderate triaxiality and mixed configurations which gradually evolve from one to three-quasiparticle configurations, like in the backbending region., QC 20220408

3. High resolution measurement of neutron inelastic scattering and cross-sections for 209Bi

Abstract

Abstract: Gamma production cross-sections were measured for the neutron inelastic scattering and () reactions on 209Bi using the white neutron spectrum of GELINA with the time-of-flight technique at the 200 m flight-path station. The full energy range, from the inelastic threshold up to 20 MeV was covered in one experiment with an unprecedented energy resolution of 1.1 keV at 1 MeV and 35 keV at 10 MeV. The gamma-rays were detected with large volume HPGe detectors. The flux was determined with a 235U fission chamber based on the 235U() standard cross-section. A metallic Bi sample was used. Inelastic gamma production cross-sections were measured for 39 transitions up to an excitation energy of 3.8 MeV. Based on the adopted level scheme of 209Bi, the total inelastic and the level cross-sections were constructed. A total uncertainty smaller than 5% was obtained for the total inelastic cross-section up to 10 MeV. The gamma production cross-section was measured for the 8 transitions from 208Bi nucleus up to 1.09 MeV excitation energy. The results are compared with earlier experimental works and with model calculations performed with the TALYS code, version 0.72. Calculations with the TALYS model code show good agreement with the deduced total inelastic cross-section in the entire incident energy range and for deduced level cross-sections below 3 MeV. Discrepancies between calculation and experiment that occur for gamma production cross-sections above 3 MeV are discussed. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract

The spin-flip probability for the charge-exchange reaction Mg-26(He-3,tgamma)Al-26 (1+; 1.06 MeV) has been measured at E = 53 MeV and theta(lab) = 10-degrees. The extracted value is 0.41 +/- 0.04. A microscopic DWBA calculation with empirically determined effective interactions reproduces the observed cross sections fairly well but the spin-flip probability poorly. To supplement the (He-3,tgamma) study, the spin-flip probability has been measured for the same state by the charge-exchange (p,ngamma) reaction at 35 MeV and theta(lab) = 30-degrees and found to be 0.52 +/- 0.11. Though statistically not significant the lower value of S in the (He-3,t) reaction may reflect on the more complex nature of this reaction at the present bombarding energy.

Abstract

Excited states in Pm-147 have been studied through the Xe-136(N-15,4n) and Nd-148(d,3n) compound nucleus reactions. A solid xenon target has been used to populate high-spin states in Pm-147. Conversion coefficients of weak transitions were determined measuring electron-gamma coincidences, The half-life of the isomeric level at 649.3 keV has been remeasured to be 27 +/- 3 ns. An extended level scheme is proposed, which is discussed in terms of single-particle excitations and collective quadrupole and octupole vibrations coupled to them, The possible presence of octupole deformation is considered.

Abstract

In-beam studies of high-spin states in Eu-149 are reported. The level scheme extends up to an excitation energy of 7.1 MeV and a spin of 55/2HBAR. This nucleus is weakly deformed and most of the high-spin structure is interpreted through its multi-particle-hole nature. Octupole-phonon vibrations coupled to multi-particle-hole states are observed and discussed. In contrast with the Z less-than-or-equal-to 62 isotones, there is no conclusive evidence in Eu-149 for octupole deformation induced by rotation.

Abstract

New high-statistics data have been obtained on the decay properties of No-253 and its daughters using the reaction Pb-207(Ca-48, 2n)No-253. This was made possible thanks to an improved transmission of fusion evaporation residues through the VASSILISSA recoil separator and an increased efficiency of the GABRIELA detector setup. The decay schemes of No-253 and Fm-249 have been revisited. The known level scheme of Fm-249 has been confirmed, including a new level at 669 keV excitation energy. The observation of L X-rays in coincidence with the a decay of Fm-249 gives additional support to the ground-state configuration of 1/2(+)[631] instead of 5/2(+)[622] for Cf-245. In both Fm-249 and Cf-245, the interpretation of the data has been checked by comparing experimental a-particle and gamma-ray spectra with realistic simulations of the decay cascades and of the interaction of particles and photons in the detectors of GABRIELA. The population of a 0.7 ms isomeric state attributed to No-253 is confirmed by an a-tagged calorimetric measurement and the corresponding gamma and electron decay spectra are presented. Possible evidence for more than one isomer is given and a tentative partial decay scheme is discussed in the light of the available experimental data, systematics and theoretical expectations. Abstract

Double beta processes in 64Zn, 70Zn, 180W, and 186W have been searched for with the help of large volume (0.1–0.7 kg) low background ZnWO4 crystal scintillators at the Gran Sasso National Laboratories of the INFN (Italy). The total measurement time exceeds ten thousand hours. New improved half-life limits on double electron capture and electron capture with positron emission in 64Zn have been set, in particular (all the limits are at 90% C.L.): T 1 / 2 0 ν 2 e ⩾ 1.1 × 10 20 yr , T 1 / 2 2 ν e β + ⩾ 7.0 × 10 20 yr , and T 1 / 2 0 ν e β + ⩾ 4.3 × 10 20 yr . In addition, new T 1 / 2 bounds were set for different modes of 2β processes in 70Zn, 180W, and 186W at the level of 1017–1020 yr.

Abstract

The alpha-decay of mass separated Bi-190,192,194,196 isotopes has been studied with the LISOL on-line separator. Time sequential alpha-singles spectra were taken and for Bi-190,192,194, alpha-Xt and alpha-gamma-t coincidences were collected. Transition probabilities of levels in Tl-186,188,190 were measured using a fast timing alpha-gamma-t and alpha-e-t coincidence set up. The alpha-decay of 196Bi and the beta-decay of 190Bi are observed for the first time. In all the Bi nuclei presently studied, unhindered alpha-decay of Bi starting from the high- (10-) and low-spin (3+) isomer populating intruder-based states in Tl was observed. The excitation energy of these intruder states is comparable with the intruder states in the neighboring odd-even and even-even nuclei.

Abstract

Excited states of the neutron deficient Ag-101 nucleus have been investigated via the Cr-50(Ni-58, 3rho1alpha) heavy-ion induced reaction at 261 meV by use of in-beam spectroscopic methods. On the basis of the measured gammagamma-cincidence relations and angular distribution ratios high-spin bands have been extended up to I-pi = 35/2(+), 45/2((-)) and (49/2(-)).
