The article adduses the results of the studying features of quantitative indicators of palmar dervatoglyphics in patients with generalized periodontitis depending on family history regarding its development. There was determined the most informative group and prognostically significant dermatoglifics signs were allocated. These sings make it possible to detect predisposition to occurrence of generalized periodontitis.

To find out the spread of urogenital Mycoplasma carriership urogenital mycoplasmosis (UGM) among women living and working under similar conditions and making up risk groups with respect to these infections, pregnant women, gynecological patients and clinically healthy women were specially surveyed. As revealed in this survey, UGM and Mycoplasma carriership were found in clinically healthy female workers significantly more often than in other similar groups of the same region. In the group of pregnant women the occurrence of Mycoplasma carriership and UGM reached 90%. In cases of sterility the facts of asymptomatic Mycoplasma carriership and UGM were registered.

It was established that the formation of a primary neoplastic focus, a recurrence of the disease, and the development of a second focus in a previously treated oncological patient occur mainly in reduced indices of corona formation; in extension of a malignant process (carcinoma of the stomach and lungs), in contrast, the corona-forming activity of the segmented neutrophils is characteristically increased. The studied test may be of prognostic importance in appraising the efficacy of the treatment of patients with carcinoma of this localization. The mechanisms determining the trend of changes in the corona formation in a neoplastic process require further study.

Cytochemical study of catecholamines in red blood cells of lung cancer patients disclosed the specific features of their content depending on the histological structure of the tumor and the advancement of the tumor process. The catecholamine content was lowest in patients with III-IV stage non-oat cell lung carcinoma and highest in patients with apudomas. The indices studied in groups of patients with benign processes in the lungs and with stage I-II non-oat cell carcinoma did not differ essentially from those in the controls.

One of the methods reflecting the state of antitumor cell immunity is skin allergic reaction of delayed hypersensitivity to injection of antitumor antigen, which together with other indices is believed to be of certain importance in estimating the immune response of the cancer patient organism. The authors compared quantitative and morphological changes in blood basophilic granulocytes and the data of skin allergic reaction. The results of studies conducted indicated that changes in the quantity and degranulation of basophilic leucocytes may be used along with skin allergic response of delayed hypersensitivity as one of the criteria for estimation of the degree of sensibilization of the organism of gastric cancer patients.

The authors presented the results of study of lymphocytic and adrenal cortical function in preoperative radiotherapy of 38 laryngeal cancer patients in different oxygen regimens: in the air and under the conditions of hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO). A method of mean dose fractionation (a single focal dose of 3.3 Gy 3 times a week up to a total dose of 33 Gy) was employed in all the patients. The total lymphocyte count in 1 microliter of the blood, the number of lymphocytes blast transformed as a result of PHA exposure, the number of lymphocytes with a positive reaction to acid phosphatase and blood 11-OCS concentration were examined. Radiation reaction like epitheliitis was shown to be less frequent in patients treated under HBO conditions, the probability of development of epitheliitis in patients with lowered lymphocytic function being higher.

The method of the complex immunization of patients with esophageal cancer against the main causative agents of purulent infections has been developed. Purified concentrated staphylococcal toxoid and polyvalent corpuscular P. aeruginosa vaccine were used for the immunization of 26 patients. Immunization was carried out in 3 injections (11 patients) and 4 injections (15 patients) made at intervals of 7 days. This resulted in the activation of nonspecific immunity factors (the total bactericidal properties of the blood serum, the phagocytic activity of neutrophils, the increase of the IgG level) and in a considerable increase in the factors of specific protection against staphylococcal and P. aeruginosa infections: the titer of staphylococcal anti-alpha-toxin increased 7- to 11-fold and the titer of antibodies to P. aeruginosa antibodies increased 5- to 6.5-fold. The preoperative vaccination of patients decreased the occurrence of postoperative purulent complications from 71% to 11.5%.

The paper is concerned with the results of examination of 41 of 407 thyroid cancer patients in whom cancer was combined with thyrotoxicosis. The succession of occurrence and possible ways of the development of this combination were considered. A study was made of the nature of endocrine changes in patients with thyroid cancer combined with thyrotoxicosis using clinical and laboratory methods. It was shown that the frequency of the combination of thyroid cancer with thyrotoxicosis made 10.1%; it was most common in women (92.68%).

The results of a clinico-laboratory evaluation of general response of cancer patients to antitumor therapy, including modificators, are considered. Also, applications of some procedures as guides to prognosis as well as the results of studies bacterial immunity and methods of its stimulation to prevent purulent complications in cancer patients are discussed.
