The phytochemical investigation of extracts of Dalea jamesii root and aerial portions led to the isolation of ten phenolic compounds. Six previously undescribed prenylated isoflavans, summarily named ormegans A – F (1 – 6), were characterized, along with two new arylbenzofurans (7, 8), a known flavone (9), and a known chroman (10). The structures of the new compounds were deduced by NMR spectroscopy, supported by HRESI mass spectrometry. The absolute configurations of 1 – 6 were determined by circular dichroism spectroscopy. Compounds 1 – 9 exhibited in vitro antimicrobial activities, causing 98% or greater growth inhibition at concentrations as low as 2.5 – 5.1 µM against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecalis, and Cryptococcus neoformans. Interestingly, the most active compound was the dimeric arylbenzofuran 8 (> 90% growth inhibition at 2.5 µM) against both methicillin-resistant S. aureus and vancomycin-resistant E. faecalis, tenfold more active than its corresponding monomer (7).

Patients with hematologic diseases are at high risk of bloodstream infections (BSIs). This study aimed to analyze clinical features and distributions of microorganisms in patients with hematologic diseases presenting at a tertiary care university-affiliated hospital in Korea.We retrospectively reviewed all BSI episodes recorded in patient medical records at two hematologic wards of the Catholic Hematology Hospital from January to December 2020. Our aim was to analyze demographic and clinical characteristics relevant to BSIs. We also described the antimicrobial resistance patterns of the major pathogens identified in this study, and evaluated risk factors for extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) production inA total of 380 BSI episodes were identified in 334 patients over the course of 1 year (monomicrobial BSI episodes, 86.1%; polymicrobial BSI episodes, 13.9%). Gram-negative bacteria accounted for 242 isolates (54.8%). The most frequently isolated Gram-negative bacteria isolates wereCompared with the results of a previous study conducted at the same institution, our findings demonstrated that Gram-negative bacteria remained dominant pathogens in BSIs occurring in patients with hematologic diseases. Invasive fungal infections (IFIs) are common causes of mortality and morbidity in patients with hematologic diseases. Delayed initiation of antifungal treatment is related to mortality.

Environmental DNA (eDNA) surveys have been conducted to evaluate the distribution and abundance of Japanese eels. However, various environmental and biological factors may influence eDNA concentrations. An experiment was conducted using three water sample replicates (50, 100 and 200 ml) of the same group of eels in a tank that were exposed to sequential nonfeeding/feeding and low/high temperature conditions. Slightly higher concentrations occurred at higher temperature (22-23°C) with nonfeeding, and the highest concentrations occurred when feeding started even though it was in the lower temperature (16-17°C) condition, but sample volume had no effect.

The abundance of Japanese eel Anguilla japonica has rapidly decreased in recent decades. Following a re-evaluation of the possibility of extinction, the Japanese Ministry of the Environment and the International Union for Conservation of Nature listed the Japanese eel as an endangered species in 2013 and 2014, respectively. However, their abundance and precise distribution have never been clarified owing to their nocturnality and difficulty in their capture. In this study, the distribution of Japanese eels was investigated by monitoring for environmental DNA (eDNA), a non-invasive and efficient detection method. A total of 365 water samples were collected from 265 rivers located throughout Japan. High concentrations of eDNA of Japanese eels were detected in rivers on the Pacific side, but were low in the Sea of Japan side. In particular, very little eDNA amplification was confirmed from Hokkaido and the north of the Sea of Japan. The eDNA distribution in Japanese rivers coincides with the transport of the larvae in the ocean, as estimated by numerical simulations. Generalized linear mixed models were developed to explain the distribution of eDNA concentrations. The total nitrogen concentration emerged as an important factor in the best model. These results indicate that the distribution of Japanese eel is mostly determined by the maritime larval transport, and their survival and growth depend on the abundance of food in the river. Biodiversity is an important parameter for the evaluation of the extant environmental conditions. Here, we used environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding to investigate fish biodiversity in five different estuaries in Japan. Water samples for eDNA were collected from river mouths and adjacent coastal areas of two estuaries with high degrees of development (the Tama and Miya Rivers) and three estuaries with relatively low degrees of development (the Aka, Takatsu, and Sendai Rivers). A total of 182 fish species across 67 families were detected. Among them, 11 species occurred in all the rivers studied. Rare fishes including endangered species were successfully detected in rich natural rivers. Biodiversity was the highest in the Sendai River and lowest in the Tama River, reflecting the degree of human development along each river. Even though nutrient concentration was low in both the Aka and Sendai Rivers, the latter exhibited greater diversity, including many tropical or subtropical species, owing to its more southern location. Species composition detected by eDNA varied among rivers, reflecting the distribution and migration of fishes. Our results are in accordance with the ecology of each fish species and environmental conditions of each river, suggesting the potential of eDNA for non-invasive assessment of aquatic biodiversity.

To specify the timing of exogenous nutrient consumption in the larvae of two commercially important tuna species, the Pacific bluefin tuna (PBF) Thunnus orientalis and the yellowfin tuna (YFT) Thunnus albacares, the gene expressions of peptide transporter 1 (PEPT1) were examined. The mRNA expressions of PEPT1 first occurred at 2 days post hatching (dph) in PBF larvae and 3 dph for the YFT, and PEPT1 was found to only be expressed in the intestinal tract. The histological changes of the digestive tract of the YFT larvae were observed and compared to PBF larvae from a previous study. The intestines were developed at the hatching day for both species. It was found that the developmental timing of internal organs differed between the species, with the YFT showing an approximately one-day delay. The major organs such as liver, pancreas and gall bladder that excrete digestive enzymes appeared at 1 dph for PBF and 2 dph for YFT. The development of external morphological features was similar to organ development timings, with mouth-opening and first feeding starting at 2 dph for PBF, and 3 dph for YFT. Growth during the first month is rapid and variable for both species, ranging from 1.06 to 1.56 mm/d. Our findings provide new information about the early onset of feeding and larval development for the two species which would contribute to future aquaculture.

This study examines the effects of university students’ types of self-determination and academic emotions on their learning community participant competence. The subjects were 234 early-childhood preservice teachers attending a university or college in the Kyonggi and Incheon area of Korea. The first metric created by Bak et al. (2005) measured early-childhood preservice teachers’ types of self-determination. The second metric developed by Kim & Kim (2016) measured their levels of learning community participant competence. The thirds metric, originally developed by Kim (2012) and So (2010), was modified by Chung (2015) to measure the academic emotions of subjects. The test results were analyzed by correlation and multi-regression techniques using SPSS 21 for Windows. The findings were as follows. First, there were significant relationships between the subjects’ types of self-determination and the levels of learning community participant competence. Second, there were significant relationships between the subjects’ academic positive and negative emotions and the levels of learning community participant competence. Third, the subjects’ levels of learning community participant competence were perceived differently according to their academic emotions. Based on these results, implications pertaining to academic emotions on learning community participant competence are suggested.

This study examines the effect of 5-year-old children`s mathematical problem solving ability and their self-esteem based on the Havruta method using math storybooks. The subjects of this study were 40 5-year-old students attending a kindergarten in the Incheon area: 20 students comprised the treatment group and 20 students comprised the control group. An instrument originally created by Ward (1993) but adapted by Hwang (1997) and later modified by Ryu (2003) was used to test the children`s mathematical problem solving abilities. A modified version (Kim, 1997) of an instrument developed by Harter and Pike (1984) was used to measure children`s self-esteem. Test results were analyzed using SPSS ver. 18.0 for Windows. The findings are as follows. First, the treatment group that had Havruta classes utilizing math story books was found to improve significantly more than the control group in their mathematical problem solving ability. Havruta classes had positive effects on children`s mathematical problem solving abilities. Second, there was no significant difference found between the two groups in terms of self-esteem when the children`s self-esteem was compared after Havruta classes that utilize math storybooks. It may not be possible to see immediate changes in children`s self-esteem because positive parent and teacher feedback had the strongest influence on 5-year-old children`s self-esteem, as opposed to self-learning. The results of this study provide meaningful basic data for Havruta classes that focus on questions and discussions through math story books to increase children`s mathematical problem solving abilities in the child education field.

This study was to develop environmental education activities using advertisement as well as investigate the effect of environmental education using advertisements on children`s eco-friendly attitudes and environmental preservation knowledge. The effect of the environmental education activity using advisements was examined based on 24 children aged five attending a daycare center located in Incheon metropolitan city (12 in the experimental group and 12 in the control group). This study was executed 12 times (twice a week) in both the experimental group and comparative group as the environmental education using advertisements was developed and executed in the experimental group as environmental education according to the life theme`s in the Nuri curriculum of the comparative group. The instruments used in this study were the children`s eco-friendly attitude scale (two factors, 18 items) and environmental preservation knowledge scale (four factors, 16 items). Children`s eco-friendly attitude and environmental preservation knowledge were assessed by pre-tests and post-tests using the SPSS ver. 18.0 program. Results indicated that after 6 weeks application, the experimental group exhibited higher scores than the control group in the children`s eco-friendly attitude as well as environmental preservation knowledge. This study showed that environmental education activities using advertisement had a positive effect on children`s eco-friendly attitudes and environmental preservation knowledge.

Though Pyrogallol, one of the natural polyphenols, was known to have anti-inflammatory and antitumor effects in breast and colon cancers, the underlying antitumor mechanisms of Pyrogallol, still remain unclear so far. Here, the antitumor mechanisms of Pyrogallol were elucidated in Hep3B and Huh7 hepatocellular carcinoma cells (HCCs). Pyrogallol showed significant cytotoxicity and reduced the number of colonies in Hep3B and Huh7 cells. Interestingly, Pyrogallol induced S-phase arrest and attenuated the protein expression of CyclinD1, Cyclin E, Cyclin A, c-Myc, S-phase kinase-associated protein 2 (Skp2), p-AKT, PI3K, increased the protein expression of p27, and also reduced the fluorescent expression of Cyclin E in Hep3B and Huh7 cells. Furthermore, Pyrogallol disturbed the interaction between Skp2, p27, and c-Myc in Huh7 cells. Notably, Pyrogallol upregulated miRNA levels of miR-134, and conversely, miR-134 inhibition rescued the decreased expression levels of c-Myc, Cyclin E, and Cyclin D1 and increased the expression of p27 by Pyrogallol in Huh7 cells. Taken together, our findings provide insight that Pyrogallol exerts antitumor effects in HCCs via miR-134 activation-mediated S-phase arrest and inhibition of PI3K/AKT/Skp2/cMyc signaling as a potent anticancer candidate.

Among ribosomal proteins essential for protein synthesis, the functions of ribosomal protein L5 (RPL5) and RPL11 still remain unclear to date. Here, the roles of RPL5 and RPL11 were investigated in association with p53/p21 signaling in the antitumor effect of puromycin mainly in HCT116 and H1299 cancer cells. Cell proliferation assays using 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazole-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assays and colony formation assays, cell cycle analysis, Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Western blotting were performed in cancer cells. Puromycin exerted cytotoxic and anti-proliferative effects in p53 wild-type HCT116 more than in p53 null H1299 cells. Consistently, puromycin increased sub-G1, cleaved Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP), activated p53, p21, and Mouse double minute 2 homolog (MDM2), and attenuated expression of c-Myc in HCT116 cells. Notably, puromycin upregulated the expression of RPL5 and RPL11 to directly bind to MDM2 in HCT116 cells. Conversely, deletion of RPL5 and RPL11 blocked the activation of p53, p21, and MDM2 in HCT116 cells. Also, puromycin enhanced the antitumor effect with reactivating p53 and inducing tumor apoptosis (RITA) or doxorubicin in HCT116 cells. These findings suggest that puromycin induces p53-dependent apoptosis via upregulation of RPL5 or RPL11 for binding with MDM2, and so can be used more effectively in p53 wild-type cancers by combination with RITA or doxorubicin.

Estuarine and coastal ecosystems are important habitats for many fish species. Large-scale patterns of estuarine and coastal fish communities can be affected by geographical factors, such as water temperature and latitude, that limit or allow fish dispersal, and/or by environmental factors that select locally adapted species. Furthermore, increased human activity has also altered fish diversity by modifying estuarine/coastal environments. Here, we used environmental DNA metabarcoding to study a large-scale pattern of estuarine/coastal fish communities across 25 watersheds in the Japanese Archipelago, and we assessed the effects of geographical, environmental, and anthropogenic factors in structuring these communities. Of the 290 fish species detected, 47 species were red-listed by the Japanese Ministry of Environment, and nine were alien. Non-metric multidimensional scaling showed that latitude and water temperature affected both river-mouth and coastal-sea fish communities. Although other anthropogenic factors did not affect these communities, bank artificialisation rates influenced both. The relationship between each fish community and ocean currents was weak. The number of red-listed fish affected both fish community structures, whereas that of alien species did not. The numbers of red-listed fish in coastal points and of all fish species were negatively influenced to the human population density. These findings provide useful information that may be used to conserve estuarine and coastal ecosystems.

The onset of osmoregulation for seawater adaptation was examined during the early life stages of the Japanese eel. Ingested seawater was detected in the digestive tract by using fluorescent dextran as an inert marker. Ingested seawater remained in the forepart of the digestive tract at 0 and 1 days post hatching (dph), but reached the anus at 2 dph. Scanning electron microscope observations showed that the mouth appeared as a slit at 0 dph and developed into a hole-like shape at 2 dph. Expressions of Na+, K+, and 2Cl− cotransporter 2β (NKCC2β), and Na+ and Cl− cotransporter β (NCCβ) mRNAs were detected mainly in the intestine and rectum, respectively. These results are consistent with those of the adult eel, suggesting that the intestine and rectum are the sites of active ion absorption in larvae also. Expression levels of NKCC2β steeply increased from 4 to 6 dph, while NCCβ levels were highest on the day of hatching, presumably due to a maternal factor. The expression levels of NCCβ decreased by 3–4 dph and then increased to a constant status at 7 dph. Our findings confirmed that osmoregulation started as early as the day of hatching and stabilized within a week.

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationships between eating habits and health among adolescents in Shanghai and Heze, China. A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2013 on 2,089 adolescents; 1,089 students were from Shanghai and 999 students from Heze region. Eating habits, weight, height, and nutritional knowledge were assessed using a self-administered questionnaire. Eating habits score was classified into two categories: healthy eating habits and unhealthy eating habits, based on "Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey", for statistical data analysis. Associations between eating habits, BMI, and nutritional knowledge were examined using a general linear model with adjustment of potential confounding factors such as region, gender, age, parents` education level, and pocket money. Background In an effort to expand the deceased donor pool, transplant centers have accepted expanded-criteria donors as appropriate for many of the patients in the deceased donor pool. We investigated expanded-criteria deceased donor kidney transplantation and compared the outcomes of kidney transplantation according to donor types. Methods We retrospectively analyzed 88 kidney transplantations performed between June 2006 and December 2012. We divided the patient into 4 groups: SCDD, standard-criteria deceased donor; ECDD, expanded-criteria deceased donor; ECMO, donor under extracorporeal membrane oxygenation support; living donor. Results Deceased and living donor kidney transplantations were performed in 52 (59.1%) and 36 (40.9%) cases, respectively. Among deceased donors, 31 (35.2%) were standard-criteria donors and 14 cases (15.9%) were expanded-criteria donors. Seven (8.0%) donors were under extracorporeal membrane oxygenation support. Mean follow-up was 26.1 ± 20 months. Average number of HLA mismatches among the donor types was 3.39, 3.07, 3.0, and 2.94 in SCDD, ECDD, ECMO, and living donor groups, respectively ( P = .708). Delayed graft function occurred in 2 (6.9%), 3 (21.4%), 3 (42.9%), and 3 (8.3%) patients in the SCDD, ECDD, ECMO, and living donor groups, respectively ( P = .043). Episodes of acute rejection within a year occurred in 14 (45.2%), 2 (14.3%), 1 (14.3%), and 6 (16.7%) patients in the SCDD, ECDD, ECMO, and living donor groups, respectively ( P = .029). Renal functions after kidney transplantation at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 1 year were not significantly different according to donor types. Graft survival was not different among the different donor types (87.1%, 92.8%, 85.7%, 91.7% in SCDD, ECDD, ECMO, and living donor groups, respectively; P = .67). Patient survival was not different among the different donor types (87.1%, 92.9%, 100%, 97.2% in SCDD, ECDD, ECMO, and living donor group, respectively; P = .36). Conclusion The use of expanded-criteria deceased donor had no impact on graft or patient survival after kidney transplantation.

ObjectiveTo investigate the associations of behavioural problems with dietary patterns and weight status in young children.DesignWe assessed poor social skills and behavioural problems with a seventy-six-item Preschool and Kindergarten Behavior Scale (PKBS) and found three dietary patterns (‘Korean healthy’, ‘animal foods’ and ‘sweets’) in food/food group intake data assessed by an FFQ and analysed using factor analysis. Multiple logistic regression analyses were used to assess the association of diet and weight status with behaviour.SettingPre-schools in the metropolitan areas of Korea.SubjectsA total of 1458 children (mean age 5·2 (sd 0·9) years) from the Practical Approach for Better Maternal and Child Nutrition and Health Study conducted from 2001 to 2005.ResultsThe ‘Korean healthy’ pattern showed a significant inverse association with poor social skills in the second highest quartile group (OR = 0·42; 95 % CI 0·21, 0·82) compared with the lowest quartile group for boys. For girls, the ‘sweets’ pattern was associated with a greater risk of poor social skills (OR = 3·41; 95 % CI 1·29, 9·01 at Q4 v. Q1) and problem behaviours (OR = 2·80; 95 % CI 1·05, 7·43 at Q4 v. Q1). Regarding weight status, both underweight and overweight boys had a higher risk of poor social skills than normal-weight boys.ConclusionsDietary patterns and weight status are important indicators for the behaviour of young children. Healthy and unhealthy dietary patterns, underweight and overweight status, and gender differences should thus be considered for further studies.

The expression of peptide transporter 1 (PEPT1) was investigated at the different life stages of Japanese eel, Anguilla japonica. The cDNA encoding Japanese eel PEPT1 was cloned and sequenced. The hydrophilicity plot analysis of its deduced amino acid sequence showed high similarities with topological features of known PEPT1 molecules in other species. Tissue distribution analysis confirmed that PEPT1 mRNA was detected specifically in the anterior and posterior intestines of adult eel. In eel larvae at 13days post hatching (dph), PEPT1 mRNA expression was mainly detected in the intestinal tract regions. The trypsinogen mRNA was only detected in the gastric region including the pancreas. Intense immunoreaction for PEPT1 was observed in the apical membrane of the intestinal epithelial cells of both larval and adult eel. These results indicated that PEPT1 was an intestine-specific transporter, which was localized at the luminal side of the epithelial cells, suggesting that di/tri-peptide absorption via PEPT1 takes place in the eel intestine. According to the ontogenetic analyses by quantitative PCR, PEPT1 and trypsinogen mRNA expressions were simultaneously increased at 5-7 dph. It is thus assumed that nutrient absorption systems in the intestinal tracts of larvae become functional at this age.

To obtain information about how water temperature affects the embryonic development of Japanese eel ( Anguilla japonica ) eggs, the developmental rates and hatching times of three lots of eggs were quantified at 16, 19, 22, 25, 28 and 31 °C. Hatching time was shortened at higher temperatures with eggs at 28 °C hatching within 23–28 h after fertilization, while eggs at 19 °C took 48–54 h for their hatching. At 22 and 25 °C, eggs hatched out within 35–43 h and 27–32 h, respectively. There was no successful hatching at 16 or 31 °C. The developmental stages until hatching were divided into morula, blastula, gastrula, eye vesicle and ear vesicle formation and heart formation. Development of the embryos were also faster at higher temperature especially after the gastrula stage, but the morphological features of each stage were the same at all water temperatures. The final developmental stage before the eggs died at 16 and 31 °C differed among the lots. Eggs maintained at 25 °C showed a high hatching rate (mean: 69%), compared to other water temperatures (mean: 12% at 19 °C, 32% at 22 °C, 4% at 28 °C). The results from present study indicate that the optimal temperature for egg incubation is around 25 °C, similar to the likely temperatures experienced by eggs and early larvae in the spawning area.

Eggs of the Japanese eel Anguilla japonica collected in the western North Pacific were identified by onboard species-specific polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and DNA nucleotide sequencing after the cruise. Fish eggs of various species were collected by large plankton net tows at 12 stations along the southern part of the West Mariana Ridge on 19–25 May 2009. A total of 43 fish eggs were distinguished morphologically as possibly being of A. japonica. Thirty-one of those were analyzed by PCR, which included 15 eggs collected at 12°50–55′N, 141°15–20′E (in 5 tows) that showed positive results. The 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene sequences of eggs determined after the cruise indicated that 31 A. japonica eggs had been collected. The remaining eggs were of mesopelagic eel species (Serrivomeridae and Derichthyidae), or unidentified species. The morphological characteristics of the A. japonica eggs were consistent with those of artificially spawned eggs, except they had a slightly larger diameter. The egg diameter range did not overlap with those of mesopelagic eels of the Serrivomeridae, which often spawn in the same area as A. japonica. These results suggest that egg diameter and embryo shape can be used to morphologically identify naturally spawned A. japonica eggs.

A quadratic-optimal iterative learning control (ILC) method has been designed and implemented on an experimental rapid thermal processing system used for fabricating 8-in silicon wafers. The controller was designed to control the wafer temperatures at three separate locations by manipulating the power inputs to three groups of tungsten-halogen lamps. The controller design was done based on a time-varying linear state-space model, which was identified using experimental input-output data obtained at two different temperatures. When initialized with the input profiles produced by multiloop PI controllers, the ILC controller was seen to be capable of improving the control performance significantly with repeating runs. In a series of experiments with wafers on which thermocouples are glued, the ILC controller, over the course of ten runs, gradually steered the wafer temperatures very close to the respective reference trajectories despite significant disturbances and model errors.

An optimal iterative learning control (ILC) technique based on a quadratic optimal criterion has been implemented and evaluated in an experimental rapid thermal processing (RTP) system fabricating 8-inch silicon wafers. The control technique is based on a time-varying linear state space model which approximates a nonlinear system along a reference trajectory. This ILC control technique is capable of making improvements in the control performance from one run to next and eventually converges to a minimum achievable tracking error despite model error. Through a series of experiments with wafers on which thermocouples are glued, it was observed that the wafer temperatures are steered to the reference trajectory reducing the differences overcoming various disturbances.

In this dissertation, we suggested the built-in chip antenna that can be applied to multiband by miniaturizing the size of the antenna and expanding the bandwidth to raise the efficiency of the built-in chip antenna for mobile handsets. The proposed chip antenna commercialized currently is redesigned to analyze the performance variation of the antennas. The experimental results show mobile handset that the triple-band antenna bandwidth for (VSWR≪3) is 88(877∼965)MHz in GSM900 band operation and 380(1,648∼2,028)MHz in DCS, PCS band operation, and has over 58% of the radiation efficiency.

Objectives: Based on individual and environmental characteristics of low-income children, we developed a nutrition education program for school-aged children from low-income families according to effective use in social welfare centers. Methods: We conducted in-depth group interviews to assess program needs in 28 participants, 10 low-income school-aged children and 9 of their care givers, 9 social workers and 9 care-givers. Theoretical backgrounds of our program were heath belief model and social cognitive theory considering motivation, action and environment characteristics. Results: Based on the findings of this qualitative study, we developed major program themes and contents. Five selected key themes were "balanced diet", "processed food", "food hygiene and safety", "Korean healthy traditional diet", and "family cooking" to induce changes in dietary behaviors. Main findings of in-depth group interviews included "child"s active participation", "simple and easy to understand messages", and "environmental constraints" such as a lack of child care at home, limited budget of social welfare centers, and less qualified educators for nutrition and health. Each lesson was constructed as a 1-hour program particularly emphasizing activity-based programs, including cooking and teamwork exercises. Program contents in each session consisted of activities that could induce outcome and value expectations, self-efficacy, perceived benefits, and barriers and cues to actions regarding diet behavior. Conclusions: We developed a nutrition education programthat is rarely available for low-income children in Korea, considering theoretical bases. Further studies are needed to validate our program.

An optimal iterative learning control (ILC) technique based on a quadratic optimal criterion has been implemented and evaluated in an experimental rapid thermal processing (RTP) system fabricating 8-inch silicon wafers. The control technique is based on a time-varying linear state space model which approximates a nonlinear system along a reference trajectory. Also the control technique is able to make improvements in the control performance from one run to the next and eventually converges to a minimum achievable tracking error despite model error. Through a series of experiments with wafers on which thermocouples are glued, it was observed that the wafer temperatures are steered to the reference trajectory reducing the differences overcoming various disturbances.
