BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Cattle farming is an important pillar of dry climate agriculture. Cattle farming has even become the main engine of the community's economy. Currently, there are significant obstacles in the implementation of ecological, economic, technological, and infrastructural dimensions, alongside legal and institutional frameworks, that are essential for promoting sustainable livestock farming practices. Specific studies on different dimensional attributes affecting the sustainability of beef cattle are required. The objective of this study is to investigate different factors within four dimensions that affect the sustainability of cattle farming practices in dry climatic conditions.METHODS: This study was conducted using an interview approach to respondents using a questionnaire or list of questions. The questionnaire contains questions on 37 dimensional attributes, including ten environmental, ten economic, ten technological and infrastructure attributes, and seven legal and institutional attributes. A range of responses was collected from individuals engaged in livestock management in the dry climatic conditions of Timor Tengah Utara Regency. The data that has been collected is analyzed employing Multidimensional Scaling and expedited appraisal software. To evaluate sustainability and leverage attributes, Monte Carlo analysis and the alternating least squares algorithm are applied.FINDINGS: The study's outcomes revealed that the sustainability index pertaining to beef cattle farming in dry climates recorded an average score of 53.09 percent. This finding is based on the economic dimension of 45.58 percent, the environmental dimension of 54.18 percent, the technology and infrastructure dimension of 35.15 percent, and the legal and institutional dimension of 77.46 percent. The sustainability index, reflecting the technology and infrastructure aspects, ranks the lowest, primarily because the technological advancements necessary for achieving sustainable livestock farming are still underdeveloped. The availability of livestock waste processing technology is still relatively low and has not been processed optimally. This situation has an impact on the environment.CONCLUSION: The sustainability index of dry climate beef cattle farming is greatly influenced by the attributes of technology and infrastructure dimensions. The enhancement of sustainability in the future necessitates careful consideration of specific factors, including the accessibility of waste and product processing technologies, advancements in information technology, and the development of road infrastructure. Attributes in the legal and institutional dimensions are the main factors supporting beef cattle's sustainability. Optimizing extension services by increasing the number of livestock extension workers is crucial in accelerating the dissemination of eco-friendly livestock technoloBeef Cattle; Dry climate; Environmentally friendly; Multidimensional scaling (MDS); Sustainability assessmenty and innovation.

This article discusses the roles of the government and the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) in handling severe human rights violation cases in Paniai, Papua. The purpose of this article is to determine whether the National Commission on Human Rights handled the severe human rights violations in Paniai optimally. The article employs a qualitative research method as a research procedure that generates descriptive data in the form of written or oral words from individuals or things observed. For gathering information, interviews were used along with different types of literature, like journals, to look at the steps that the National Commission on Human Rights took and news stories from different media outlets about how they dealt with serious human rights violations in Paniai. This article uses the theory of institutional and institutional roles to examine the roles played by the National Commission on Human Rights. The research findings indicate that handling the severe human rights violation cases in Paniai creates problematic situations between the government and civilians. First, the National Commission on Human Rights attempts to adapt to external and social expectations. Second, the formation of an order between the majority and minority in the uniformity pattern of witness elements during the investigation stage conducted by the Attorney General. Other challenges include the back-and-forth return of investigation files, which hinders the process of handling the Paniai case by the National Commission on Human Rights.

Earthworm (Lumbricus rubellus) farming offers a unique solution for poverty alleviation in rural Indonesia by transforming agricultural waste into economic opportunities while supporting sustainable farming practices. Empowering these farmers is crucial for enhancing their cultivation techniques and economic outcomes. This study examines the key factors that influence the behavior of empowered earthworm farmers, using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as its framework. Conducted in Temanggung Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia, in 2023, the study involved 201 respondents selected through a snowball sampling method. Information was gathered via a survey and then examined using PLS-SEM. The findings indicate that empowerment programs significantly influence farmers’ attitudes, social norms, and perceived behavioral control, which drive their intention to become empowered. Empowered intentions and perceived behavioral control strongly predict farmers’ empowered behaviors, which, in turn, enhance their economic well-being. Notably, the study also found that farmers' personality traits do not moderate the relationship between intention and behavior, suggesting that empowerment programs are broadly effective across different farmer profiles. This study underscores the importance of empowerment initiatives in promoting sustainable farming practices, improving farmers' livelihoods, notably the livelihood of farmers, as the empowerment program is based on dynamic open innovation.

- Abstract
This study is aimed to investigate the effectiveness of problem-based learning combined with simulation on students' problem-solving and creative thinking skills. By employing a quasi-experimental design, this study used essay and problem-based tests as the instruments to evaluate problem-solving and creative thinking skills of 192 students. These students were categorized into three groups: experimental group I (n = 68) receiving instruction using problem-based learning combined with simulation, experimental group II (n = 60) receiving instruction with problem-based learning only, and control group (n = 64) receiving instruction with a conventional method. Using a multivariate analysis of covariance, the results revealed that problem-solving and creative thinking skills taught by problem-based learning combined with simulation were significantly improved as compared to those in experimental group II and control group. In addition, a positive relationship was identified between students' problem-solving skills and their creative thinking skills. Ultimately, this study shows that instruction using problem-based learning combined with simulation method is much more effective than using either problem-based learning only or a conventional teaching method.

OBJECTIVES:. Anemia has been associated with an increased risk of both cardiac arrest and stroke, frequent complications of COVID-19. The effect of hemoglobin level at ICU admission on a composite outcome of cardiac arrest or stroke in an international cohort of COVID-19 patients was investigated. DESIGN:. Retrospective analysis of prospectively collected database. SETTING:. A registry of COVID-19 patients admitted to ICUs at over 370 international sites was reviewed for patients diagnosed with cardiac arrest or stroke up to 30 days after ICU admission. Anemia was defined as: normal (hemoglobin ≥ 12.0 g/dL for women, ≥ 13.5 g/dL for men), mild (hemoglobin 10.0–11.9 g/dL for women, 10.0–13.4 g/dL for men), moderate (hemoglobin ≥ 8.0 and < 10.0 g/dL for women and men), and severe (hemoglobin < 8.0 g/dL for women and men). PATIENTS:. Patients older than 18 years with acute COVID-19 infection in the ICU. INTERVENTIONS:. None. MEASUREMENTS AND MAIN RESULTS:. Of 6926 patients (median age = 59 yr, male = 65%), 760 patients (11.0%) experienced stroke (2.0%) and/or cardiac arrest (9.4%). Cardiac arrest or stroke was more common in patients with low hemoglobin, occurring in 12.8% of patients with normal hemoglobin, 13.3% of patients with mild anemia, and 16.7% of patients with moderate/severe anemia. Time to stroke or cardiac arrest by anemia status was analyzed using Cox proportional hazards regression with death as a competing risk. Covariates selected through clinical knowledge were age, sex, comorbidities (diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and cardiac or neurologic conditions), pandemic era, country income, mechanical ventilation, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. Moderate/severe anemia was associated with a higher risk of cardiac arrest or stroke (hazard ratio, 1.32; 95% CI, 1.05–1.67). CONCLUSIONS:. In an international registry of ICU patients with COVID-19, moderate/severe anemia was associated with increased hazard of cardiac arrest or stroke.

This research explores a contemporary approach to managing Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC) by integrating nano-technology into herbal production, combining Bischofia javanica leaves and Phaleria macrocarpa fruits. Benzo[a]pyrene (BaP)-induced OSCC rats were treated with nano herbals from Bischofia javanica leaves, Phaleria macrocarpa fruits, a combination of both, and Vitamin C as a control. Blood and organ analyses were compared with negative and positive controls. BaP induction in OSCC revealed cell transformation into carcinoma, confirmed by Papanicolaou staining. OSCC induction also caused significant changes in Complete Blood Count (CBC) and serum lipid profile. Nano herbals from both plants showed potential in reducing hematological and lipid damage in OSCC, especially in white blood cells, red blood cells, hemoglobin, and platelets. Statistical analysis also indicated that the combination of nano herbals was more effective in reducing (Low-Density Lipoprotein) LDL and total cholesterol levels than uncombined use while increasing (High-Density Lipoprotein) HDL levels comparable to Vitamin C. Liver and kidney functions were also significantly affected by OSCC, with nano herbals showing potential in normalizing albumin levels and positively impacting liver enzymes. In conclusion, both individually and in combination, nano herbals from Bischofia javanica leaves, and Phaleria macrocarpa fruits have the potential to be a promising treatment strategy for OSCC.

The development of mobile commerce (m-commerce) applications has indicated a shift in goals from ease-of-use to sustainable use in the future. This shift has prompted changes in the combination of attributes that constitute the usability of m-commerce applications. This study developed an m-commerce usability model that combines functional and non-functional attributes. The research data was collected using questionnaires distributed to users living in Jakarta and was processed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique. The results demonstrate that efficiency, satisfaction, and effectiveness can explain the usability of m-commerce applications. This study proved that three non-functional usability attributes – productivity, navigation, and memorability – have a positive effect on efficiency, while two functional attributes of usability – content and security – positively influence effectiveness. The study further proved that beside non-functional attributes, functional attributes also play an important role in increasing the user experience in the m-commerce context and thereby contribute to improving the usability of m-commerce systems and the continuance intention. The overall results of the study can be used in developing strategies for m-commerce application developers to design applications that can satisfy users and help them complete their tasks correctly and efficiently.

deregulation, public service, regulation ,Social Sciences - Abstract
This article aims to understand various efforts to improve public services through deregulation. For example, the Mayor of Pekalongan shared complaints from fishermen who felt that the existence of the state and government made it difficult because to take care of sea permits alone had to deal with 17 different agencies. The problem centers on the obstacles to improving public services through deregulation and the factors that cause overregulation in Indonesia. This study determined the obstacles to public services and over-regulation. The data used are secondary data collected through literature studies and analyzed qualitatively. This study concludes that the Government has made various efforts to improve intermediate public services through deregulation by enacting several laws and regulations that unify the material of previous laws and regulations. Overregulation occurs in Indonesia due to the unclear development of authority between various institutions. There are still many overlapping laws and regulations in regulating various affairs so the applicable regulations can be said to have been too many. Therefore, there needs to be a firm policy in the division of authority of regulators so that there is no more over-regulation because there are no more overlapping regulations.

Introduction: Treatment of impairment is an important step to prevent advanced neurological deficits in ischemic stroke medicine. Ischemic stroke patients with likely worsening neurological deficits should receive appropriate interventions. Therefore, this study aimed to examine predictors that can identify worsening neurological deficits. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design on 74 hospitalized ischemic stroke patients at Abdoel Wahab Sjahranie Regional Hospital, Samarinda, in 2019. The worsening of neurological deficits was based on the progression of the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores at hospital admission and discharge. Age, hemoglobin level, hematocrit value, gender, smoking history, blood pressure, and hyperglycemic state were based on patient data at the beginning of hospital admission. The Chi-Square and Fisher’s exact tests were used in bivariate analysis. Results: The results showed that age had a significant association with the worsening of neurological deficits in ischemic stroke patients (p = 0.024). Hemoglobin level, hematocrit value, gender, smoking history, blood pressure, and hyperglycemic state showed no relationship with worsening neurological deficits in ischemic stroke patients (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Age can serve as a predictor of worsening neurological deficits in ischemic stroke patients, with those aged over 45 years old having a higher risk. Meanwhile, the other factors were not associated with a worsening neurological deficit in ischemic stroke patients.

The phenomenon of santri students in Indonesia encompasses various aspects that reflect the influence of pesantren education and Islamic values on their experiences and identities in the university environment. Santri students in Indonesia, like students in general, may also encounter various challenges during their university studies. However, there are some issues that are more commonly experienced by santri students, particularly related to their educational backgrounds in pesantren and their religious experiences. A total of 186 santri students were involved in filling out questionnaires measuring academic commitment, the application of coercive power, the imposition of sanctions, and compliance. Based on mediation analysis, the results indicate that the application of coercive power and the imposition of sanctions can serve as appropriate mediators in bridging the influence of academic commitment to compliance. Compliance among santri students is not solely a result of their academic commitment because the level of compliance can be shaped by the university's application of coercive power and the imposition of sanctions for students who violate rules.

This study explores the chronic toxicity of nano-formulated Bischofia javanica leaves, a plant with pharmacological significance in Indonesia, following OECD guidelines 452. Graded doses (2, 4, 6, and 8 g/kg BW) of nano-formulated Bischofia javanica were administered to the treatment groups for 60 days, while the control group (K-) received only water. On the 61st day, the mice were euthanized, and samples for biochemical, hematological, and histopathological analysis were collected. Statistical analysis involved one-way ANOVA and Tukey’s post hoc tests. Graded doses of nano-formulated Bischofia javanica leaves caused significant alterations in liver function. Doses between 2 and 4 g/kg BW improved liver histology and physiological markers. Higher doses (6 to 8 g/kg BW) led to liver dysfunction and histological degeneration, characterized by substantial fatty alterations, intracellular fat accumulation in hepatocytes, and compromised central blood vessels and sinusoids. The lungs showed signs of alveolar inflammation, epithelial exfoliation, debris, and the accumulation of inflammatory cells in alveolar spaces. Lower doses showed uniformly distributed cardiac blood vessels, while higher doses resulted in heart hemorrhages and amorphous exudates. Except for high doses, which significantly elevated specific liver damage indicators, no other levels of Bischofia javanica caused treatment-related mortality or significant alterations in hematological and biochemical parameters. Blood sugar levels remained stable across the dose range. In conclusion, moderate doses of nano-formulated Bischofia javanica leaf extracts can enhance physiological functions positively. However, caution is necessary when contemplating high doses, as they can cause dysfunction or damage vital organ systems.

The swamp buffalo is a valuable genetic resource and an important source of animal protein in Indonesia. Unfortunately, their population is decreasing due to problems attributed to conventional farming systems. The objective of the study was to examine the sustainability of swamp buffalo farming and identify the attributes that influence its sustainability. Data were collected through a focus group discussion involving experts and business actors in swamp buffalo farming and a survey on buffalo farmers. The study examined 52 attributes within 6 dimensions: ecological, economic, social, technological, institutional, and welfare dimensions. The data were analysed using multidimensional scaling through the Rapid Appraisal for Swamp Buffalo technique. The results of the study demonstrate that swamp buffalo farming in Hulu Sungai Utara (HSU), Hulu Sungai Selatan (HSS), and Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST) districts in South Kalimantan province has sustainability indices of 51.70, 53.13, and 48.87%, respectively. This study identified 12 leverage attributes that are very influential to the sustainability of swamp buffalo farming, i.e., climatic conditions, land suitability, marketing, income from swamp buffalo farming, mutual assistance, education level, processing technology, reproduction technology, the role of local government, capital institutions, programs from central government, and farmers’ welfare. Swamp buffalo farming in HSU and HSS is moderately sustainable, while in HST, it is less sustainable, suggesting improvement in the key factors influencing the sustainability of swamp buffalo farming. This study offers valuable insights for the government in formulating policies and programs for developing swamp buffalo farming and conserving swamp buffalo germplasm.

The spiritual growth of God's people at Gereja Kristen Setia Indonesia (GKSI) Sanggau, West Kalimantan, is urgently needed. Christian educators serving at GKSI Sanggau have an important role to play in guiding the spiritual growth of the people. To realize the spiritual growth of God's people at GKSI Sanggau, Christian educators need to play a proactive role in conveying the truth of God's word, teaching the truth of God's word, conducting evangelism, carrying out counseling, and make visits to all God's people in their homes so as to share the truth of God's word. The problem posed is that some of God's people have not experienced spiritual growth, so Christian educators are needed to carry out their role well in overcoming various problems faced by God's people. The issues include doctrinal problems or teaching God's word at all, personal problems with families related to inheritance, problems of laziness to attend worship to God because they prioritize traditions or customs and traditional beliefs more, close their hearts when God's word is preached in the form of teaching, some do not have good habits in reading God's word, are less effective in praying, and may often tend to prioritize their interests rather than glorifying God's name. This study aims to interrogate the role of Christian educators in guiding the spiritual growth of God's people at GKSI Sanggau, West Kalimantan so that God's people can experience spiritual growth according to the truth of God's word. This research uses qualitative methods through data processing of interviews and relevant literature. The findings of this study are that the more serious Christian educators are in guiding the spiritual growth of God's people, the more their spirituality will take root, grow, and experience significant life changes.

Cervical carcinoma is one of the most common malignant carcinomas around the world, including Indonesia. Rhodomyrtus tomentosa is an herbal medicine that is often used in Asia as a therapeutic agent to stop cancer metastases. The process of neoangiogenesis in cervical cancer depends on VEGFR activity. Increased TGFβ1 production is also linked to cervical cancer, suggesting that gene inactivation contributes to the emergence of cervical carcinoma. Group C- was the control group, Group C+ was the cancer model group, CER100 was the group of rats with cancer + 100 mg/kg body weight (BW) of R. tomentosa, CER200 was the group of rats with cancer + 200 mg/kg BW of R. tomentosa, and CER400 was the group of rats with cancer + 400 mg/kg BW R. tomentosa. Rats were dissected after administration of R. tomentosa for 30 days. Immunohistochemical staining of the cervical tissue was performed with TGFβ1 and VEGFR antibodies. VEGFR expression was significantly different from TGFβ1 expression (p < 0.01). The highest expression was observed at the lowest dose of R. tomentosa (100 mg/kg BW), and the lowest expression was observed at 200 and 400 mg/kg BW. The administration of R. tomentosa can repair tissue damage and decrease the expression of TGFβ1 and VEGFR via histopathological parameters, indicating the importance of the activity of these proteins in the development of neoangiogenesis in cervical cancer.

The machine maintenance strategy is very important in manufacturing, mining, and other industries so an appropriate maintenance strategy is needed based on industrial operating conditions. In this paper, a Proactive maintenance strategy is presented, in which this strategy requires the identification of vibrations, and the identification of vibrations is divided into two methods, there are the identification of vibrations in the time domain and the identification of vibrations based on the frequency domain. Identification in the time domain is usually done in analyzing gears because of so much noise in the frequency domain, while identification in the frequency domain is used to analyze vibrations in cases of unbalance, misalignment, bearing defects, cavitation, and damage to electric motors. This paper briefly presents the time domain and frequency domain differences and two case studies that happened on PT. Freeport Indonesia. The first case is the investigation of bearing damage to the conveyor using vibration signals in the frequency domain, while the second case is the investigation of gear damage using the time domain that occurs in the crusher.

Initiating antiretroviral therapy (ART) in Indonesia poses major challenges, with limited studies on specific ART initiation barriers and facilitators. Using a socioecological approach, we explored, through semi-structured interviews, the perspectives of 67 participants: 17 people with HIV not (yet) on ART, 30 people with HIV on treatment, and 20 HIV service providers (HSPs). Fears emerged as pervasive barriers to initiation encompassing, at the intrapersonal level, (irrational) fears of negative medical and non-medical consequences. At the health system level, fears were linked to concerns about bureaucracy and insufficient universal coverage. On a societal level, fears stemmed from prevalent myths, misinformation on social media, and the impact of COVID-19. Interestingly, fear also served as a facilitator to initiation. At the intrapersonal level, initiation was driven by a fear of deteriorating health or death due to AIDS-related conditions. At the interpersonal level, buddies and HSPs leveraged to motivate initiation. At the societal level, accurate yet fear-inducing information on social media stimulated initiation. Perspectives differed between people with HIV and HSP, with people with HIV emphasizing barriers on intrapersonal to health system levels, while HSP focused mostly on intrapersonal and interpersonal barriers, albeit recognizing the crucial role of health systems. The crucial challenge in herbal medicine development lies in ensuring the safety, quality, and effectiveness of herbal materials to comply with the regulatory standards in the herbal medicine industry. This research aims to synthesize nano-based herbal medicine by combining two medicinal plants: Bischofia javanica leaves and Phaleria macrocarpa fruits. Through the High-Energy Milling (HEM) process, both materials are transformed into nanoparticles to enhance the solubility and bioavailability of active compounds. The herbal medicine standards are measured through Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Particle Size Analysis (PSA), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) tests. The SEM analysis results indicate optimal dispersion of nanoparticles, while PSA analysis reveals a reduction in particle size and increased homogeneity after nanonization with HEM. FTIR analysis results show various functional groups in nanoparticles, indicating the potential interaction between the combined components. The effectiveness of nanoparticles in the Rattus norvegicus Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC) model demonstrates an increase in lipid profile comparable to the effectiveness of Vitamin C. These findings highlight the potential of combined herbal treatment with nanoparticles produced by HEM, offering better efficacy and potential safety improvement, particularly in addressing lipid metabolism disorders.

Abstract Background Dihydroartemisinin–piperaquine (DHA–PPQ) has been adopted as first-line therapy for uncomplicated falciparum malaria in Indonesia since 2010. The efficacy of DHA–PPQ was evaluated in 2 sentinel sites in Keerom District, Papua and Merangin District, Jambi, Sumatra from April 2017 to April 2018. Methods Clinical and parasitological parameters were monitored over a 42-day period following the World Health Organization standard in vivo protocol and subjects meeting the inclusion criteria were treated with DHA–PPQ once daily for 3 days, administered orally. Results In Papua, 6339 subjects were screened through active and passive cases detection. Of the 114 falciparum and 81 vivax cases enrolled, 102 falciparum and 80 vivax cases completed the 42 day follow up, and 12 falciparum and 1 vivax cases were either lost to follow up or withdrawn. Kaplan–Meier analysis of microscopy readings of 102 falciparum cases revealed 93.1% (95% CI 86.4–97.2) as Adequate Clinical and Parasitological Response (ACPR). No delay in parasite clearance nor severe adverse reaction was observed. Recurrent parasites of Plasmodium falciparum were detected in 7 cases and categorized as late treatment failures (LTF) at days 21, 35, and 42 and one of which was reinfected by Plasmodium vivax at day 42. Two cases were confirmed as recrudescent infection and 4 were re-infection. The PCR-corrected DHA–PPQ efficacy for P. falciparum was 97.9% (95% CI 92.7–99.7). Of the 80 cases of P. vivax that were followed up, 71 cases were completely cured and classified as ACPR (88.8%, 95% CI 79.7–94.7) and 9 cases showed recurrent infection at days 35 and 42, and classified as LTF. In Sumatra, of the 751 subjects screened, 35 vivax subjects enrolled, 34 completed the 42 day follow up. Thirty-three cases were completely cured and classified as ACPR (97.1%, 95% CI 84.7–99.9) and 1 recurrent infection was observed and classified as LTF. No delay in parasite clearance nor severe adverse reaction was observed. Analysis of the Pfk13 gene in P. falciparum cases from Papua revealed no mutations associated with artemisinin resistance in the 20 SNPs previously reported. Analysis of the Pfpm2 gene at day 0 and day of recurrence in recrudescent cases revealed the same single copy number, whereas 3 of the 4 re-infection cases carried 2–3 Pfpm2 gene copy numbers. Conclusion Treatment of falciparum and vivax malaria cases with DHA–PPQ showed a high efficacy and safety.
