Objective To investigate the protective effect of oxygen-glucose deprivation preconditioning (OGDPC) on PC12 cells damaged with oxygen-glucose deprivation/reperfusion (OGD/R) and its underlying mechanism. Methods PC12 cells were randomly divided into Control, OGDPC, OGD/R and OGDPC+OGD/R groups. The morphology and quantity of mitochondria were observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Mito-tracker staining. The expression of OGDH, PDHA1, COX4 and HSP60 was detected by Western blotting. Mitochondrial membrane potential and ATP production were evaluated by JC-1 and ATP assay kit. TUNEL staining was used to assess cell apoptosis, and translocation of AIF and EnodoG was observed by immunofluorescence staining and TUNEL staining. Results Compared with the OGD/R group, the mitochondrial ultrastructure damage were alleviated, the expression levels of OGDH, PDHA1 and COX4 were enhanced (P < 0.05), that of HSP60 was decreased (P < 0.05), the mitochondrial membrane potential and ATP level were increased (P < 0.05), the cell apoptotic rate was reduced (P < 0.05), and AIF and EndoG were less aggregated to the TUNEL-positive nucleus in OGDPC+OGD/R group (P < 0.05). Conclusion OGDPC can alleviate the injury of PC12 cells caused by OGD/R, and the potential mechanism may be related to improving mitochondrial structure and function, and reducing cell apoptosis via mitochondrial pathway.

ObjectiveThis study aims at establishing a teaching catalog and content for breast rare diseases and developing the syllabus for the breast rare disease using integrated multimodality of case-/problem-/resource-based learning (CBL+PBL+RBL).MethodsBy conducting bibliometrics co-occurrence analysis, we collected 6291 articles on breast rare disease published from January, 1975 to June, 2024. Additionally, we retrieved the Textbook on Rare Diseases, the Catalog of Chinese Rare Disease, and Second Batch of Rare Disease Catalog and then decided the teaching content.ResultsFrom 16, 387 keywords, 1000 (6.1%) keywords were identified through co-occurrence analysis, including 50(0.3%) candidate diseases. These were classified into three categories: rare primary breast diseases, rare genetic mutation-related diseases associated with breast cancer, and rare systemic multi-system diseases involving the breast. From the candidate list, 20(0.1%) rare primary breast diseases were further selected for their notable clinical teaching significance, and significant multi-systemic diseases affecting the breast, whether related to gene mutations or not. Teaching plans were drafted using a diversified parallel teaching approaches, taking into account the characteristics of different diseases and the focus of different teaching methods.ConclusionsThis study initiated the development of the teaching content for breast rare diseases and developed the teaching syllabus using the CBL+PBL+RBL integrated multi teaching model and targeting each rare breast disease for the critical point for teaching.

Abstract Bioactive agents have demonstrated regenerative potential for cell-free bone tissue engineering. Nevertheless, certain challenges persist, including ineffective delivery methods and confined therapeutic potency. Here, we demonstrated that the biomimetic calcium phosphate coating system (BioCaP) could effectively uptake and slowly release the incorporated bioactive agents compared to the surface absorption system via osteoclast-mediated degradation of BioCaP coatings. The release kinetics were determined as a function of time. The release rate was stable without remarkable burst release during the first 1 day, followed by a sustained release from day 7 to day 19. Then, we developed the bi-functional BioCaP-coated silk fibroin scaffolds enabling the effective co-delivery of TGF-β3 and BMP-2 (SFI-T/SFI-B) and the corresponding slow release of TGF-β3 and BMP-2 exhibited superior potential in promoting chondrogenesis and osteogenesis without impairing cell vitality in vitro. The SFI-T/SFI-B scaffolds could improve cartilage and bone regeneration in 5 × 4 mm rabbit osteochondral (OC) defect. These findings indicate that the biomimetic calcium-phosphate coated silk fibroin scaffolds with slowly co-released TGF-β3 and BMP-2 effectively promote the repair of OC defects, hence facilitating the future clinical translation of controlled drug delivery in tissue engineering. Objective To construct a model of Fat-1/APPPS1 transgenic mice and a cellular model of microglia and explore the improvement effect and underlying mechanism of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFAs) on the learning and memory abilities of APPPS1 mice by regulating microglial activation and polarization. Methods After the male mice with heterozygous Fat-1 genotype were mated with the female ones with heterozygous APPPS1 genotype, genetic identification was used to screen the male offspring with Fat-1/APPPS1 genotype. Then after the male wild-type (WT) mice and those with Fat-1, Fat-1/APPPS1, and APPPS1 genotypes were bred until 9 months old, their learning and memory abilities were evaluated with Morris water maze (MWM) test. In addition, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was performed to detect the concentration of PUFAs in the brain, and immunohistochemistry (IHC) was applied to detect the deposition of β-amyloid protein (Aβ) in the hippocampal regions. Moreover, immunofluorescence assay, qRT-PCR, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) were conducted to measure inflammation, and transcription and expression of Iba-1 (indicating the microglial activation) and CD86 and CD206 (indicating microglial polarization) in central nervous system (CNS). After pretreated with DHA+EPA (25 μmol/mL ∶25 μmol/mL), microglial model of inflammatory injury was established in immortalized mouse BV2 cells induced by LPS (1 μg/mL). Afterwards, immunofluorescence assay, qRT-PCR and Western blotting were used to detect inflammation and microglial activation and polarization. Results Compared with the APPPS1 mice, endogenous n-3 PUFAs effectively improved the learning and memory disorders in Fat-1/APPPS1 ones (P < 0.05), remarkably alleviated Aβ deposition in the hippocampal regions (P < 0.05), evidently reduced CNS inflammation and microglial activation (P < 0.05) and transformed the activated microglia from M1 to M2 (P < 0.05). Furthermore, BV2 cells with DHA+EPA pretreatment obviously resisted LPS-induced cellular inflammation and induced activated ones from M1 to M2 (P < 0.05). Conclusion n-3 PUFAs inhibit the microglial activation, regulate the microglial polarization from M1 to M2, reduce CNS inflammation, and thus alleviate learning and memory disorders in APPPS1 mice.

Objective To evaluate the reliability, validity and diagnostic accuracy of the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging Epilepsy Algorithm (CLSA-EA) questionnaire (Chinese version) in screening Chinese adult epilepsy. Methods From August to October 2022, a total of 384 subjects and patients were included, who were respectively screened from urban and rural communities in Chengdu, Sichuan, and Department of Neurology of West China Hospital, Sichuan University. The CLSA - EA questionnaire (Chinese version) was used for the survey. Epilepsy was diagnosed according to 2014 International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) criteria. Kappa coefficient and Cronbach's α coefficient were used to evaluate testretest reliability and internal consistency, respectively. Construct validity was used to test validity. The accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and diagnostic consistency κ value were calculated by confusion matrix method to evaluate the effect of screening. Results Finally, 348 questionnaires were obtained, including 190 epileptic cases (54.60%) and 158 nonepileptic cases (45.40%), of which 244 were retested subjects, including 123 epileptic cases (50.41%) and 121 non-epileptic cases (49.59%). Retest reliability analysis in epileptic cases showed that the consistency of items Q3a, Q3bⅲ , Q3bⅳ , Q4a and Q4b in CLSA-EA questionnaire (Chinese version) had moderate consistency (0.400 ≤ κ < 0.750; P = 0.000, for all). Items Q1, Q2, Q3bⅰ, Q3bⅱ, Q3bⅴ, Q3bⅵ and Q3bⅶ had poor consistency (0.000 ≤ κ < 0.400; P < 0.05, for all). In non-epileptic cases, the consistencies of items Q2, Q3a, Q3bⅰ, Q4a and Q4b were moderate (P = 0.000, for all), Q3bⅴ and Q3bⅵ were poor (P = 0.000, for all), and no consistencies of Q3bⅱ , Q3bⅲ and Q3bⅳ were found (P > 0.05, for all). The internal consistency evaluation in epileptic cases showed that the internal consistency of all items and the sum of all items in the CLSA-EA questionnaire (Chinese version) were poor (Cronbach's α coefficient < 0.700). The internal consistency of items Q4a and Q4b for non-epileptic patients was also poor, but other items and the sum of all items were acceptable (Cronbach's α coefficient 0.700-0.800). The structural validity analysis showed that the cumulative variance contribution rate of the four factors was only 43%, and items Q1 and Q3a were not incorporated into the factors. The accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and consistency of CLSA -EA2 epilepsy determination algorithm were higher (> 0.900, for all). Conclusions The CLSA - EA questionnaire (Chinese version) has high sensitivity and specificity, which can guide the preliminary screening of epilepsy in China. However, the applicability, reliability and validity still need to be further considered.

Abstract Malocclusion, identified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of three major oral diseases, profoundly impacts the dental-maxillofacial functions, facial esthetics, and long-term development of ~260 million children in China. Beyond its physical manifestations, malocclusion also significantly influences the psycho-social well-being of these children. Timely intervention in malocclusion can foster an environment conducive to dental-maxillofacial development and substantially decrease the incidence of malocclusion or reduce the severity and complexity of malocclusion in the permanent dentition, by mitigating the negative impact of abnormal environmental influences on the growth. Early orthodontic treatment encompasses accurate identification and treatment of dental and maxillofacial morphological and functional abnormalities during various stages of dental-maxillofacial development, ranging from fetal stages to the early permanent dentition phase. From an economic and societal standpoint, the urgency for effective early orthodontic treatments for malocclusions in childhood cannot be overstated, underlining its profound practical and social importance. This consensus paper discusses the characteristics and the detrimental effects of malocclusion in children, emphasizing critical need for early treatment. It elaborates on corresponding core principles and fundamental approaches in early orthodontics, proposing comprehensive guidance for preventive and interceptive orthodontic treatment, serving as a reference for clinicians engaged in early orthodontic treatment.

[Objective] The construction of limonin-albumin nanoparticles provides a theoretical basis for the further application of limonin. [Methods] Limonin-albumin nanoparticles were prepared by desolvation-chemical crosslinking method using bovine serum albumin as nanocarriers. The optimal preparation process was determined by single factor experiment and response surface test with embedding rate as index, and the nanoparticles were characterized. [Results] When the amount of bovine serum albumin was 64 mg, the amount of lemon bitter was 4 mg, the specific volume ratio of alcohol to water was 5∶1, and the amount of crosslinker was 125 μL, the average particle size and polydispersion index of limonin nanoparticles were (152.2±0.5) nm and 0.196±0.026 respectively. The embedding efficiency was (79.21±0.36)%. The limonin-albumin nanoparticles observed under low-pressure transmission electron microscopy showed a spherical shape. Infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction results showed that limonin was successfully encapsulated in albumin in an amorphous or disordered state. The limonin-albumin nanoparticle suspension has good storage stability. [Conclusion] The limonin-albumin nanoparticles prepared by desolvation-chemical crosslinking method had good storage stability.

[Objective] Identifying the sensitivity of disasters is an important prerequisite for disaster prevention and reduction, and sensitivity assessment of complex disaster systems is an important component of risk assessment of composite disaster systems. [Methods] Firstly, the sensitivity assessment index system of the composite disaster system was constructed according to the characteristics of the rainstorm landslide disaster chain, and then the susceptibility of the rainstorm-landslide disaster chain in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was evaluated by using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Optimal Parameters-based Geographical Detectors-Analytic Hierarchy Process (OPGD-AHP). Through the sensitivity analysis of rainstorm and landslide, the sensitivity classification maps of rainstorm and landslide in the Greater Bay Area were obtained respectively. And the threshold value and conversion probability of landslide induced by rainstorm were obtained through statistical analysis, so as to analyze the sensitivity of rainstorm landslide disaster chain and finally the sensitivity classification map of the rainstorm-landslide disaster chain in the Greater Bay Area was obtained. [Results] (1) The highly sensitive areas of the rainstorm landslide disaster chain in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao were mainly distributed in the northwest of Guangning County and Huaiji County, and in the east of Huiyang District and Huidong County. (2) The sub high sensitivity and medium sensitivity areas were mainly distributed in areas such as Fengkai, Deqing, Conghua, Longmen, Boluo, etc. (3) Low sensitivity areas and sub low sensitivity areas were mainly distributed in central areas such as South China Sea, Liwan, Chancheng, Shunde, Nansha, Panyu, Sanshui, Baiyun, etc. [Conclusion] The research results could provide scientific basis and technical support for disaster prevention and reduction, as well as enhancing the resistance and resilience of the disaster chain in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Abstract To investigate and compare the facial asymmetry (hard and soft tissues) among skeletal Class I, II, and III patients. A total of 221 subjects, including skeletal Class I (n = 80), skeletal Class II (n = 75), and skeletal Class III (n = 66), were included in the study. CBCT, 22 skeletal landmarks, and 10 soft tissue landmarks were used for the measurements and the asymmetry index was calculated to assess the facial asymmetry. Statistical analyses included one-way ANOVA, Kruskal–Wallis test, and Spearman correlation analysis. The skeletal Class III patients presented greater asymmetry than Class II patients for 10 hard tissue landmarks and 3 soft tissue landmarks (p 0.86). The ANS and Me in 21.3% patients deviated to contralateral sides. The skeletal Class III patients had more facial asymmetry than the Class II patients. Soft tissues showed similar asymmetry as the underlying hard tissues rather than a compensation of the hard tissue asymmetry. The inconsistency in the deviation of Me and ANS may exacerbate facial asymmetry.

Abstract Mitochondrial cytochrome c maturation (CCM) requires heme attachment via distinct pathways termed systems I and III. The mosaic distribution of these systems in Archaeplastida raises questions about the genetic mechanisms and evolutionary forces promoting repeated evolution. Here, we show a recurrent shift from ancestral system I to the eukaryotic-specific holocytochrome c synthase (HCCS) of system III in 11 archaeplastid lineages. Archaeplastid HCCS is sufficient to rescue mutants of yeast system III and Arabidopsis system I. Algal HCCS mutants exhibit impaired growth and respiration, and altered biochemical and metabolic profiles, likely resulting from deficient CCM and reduced cytochrome c-dependent respiratory activity. Our findings demonstrate that archaeplastid HCCS homologs function as system III components in the absence of system I. These results elucidate the evolutionary trajectory and functional divergence of CCM pathways in Archaeplastida, providing insight into the causes, mechanisms, and consequences of repeated cooption of an entire biological pathway.

Objective: This study focused on the effectively control of the spoilage and deterioration of grouper during refrigeration. Methods: Illumina high-throughput sequencing technology was used to amplify the 16S rDNA V3-V4 segment of bacteria, then analyzed the changes in the bacterial community structure of E. obliquus after being treated with 400 MPa UHP for 5 minutes and refrigerated at 4 ℃ for 3, 6, 9, and 12 d. Results: According to Alpha diversity analysis fish samples treated with and without UHP showed increasing Chao1 and Ace indices as refrigeration times were extended, but Shannon indices progressively dropped. Nonetheless, the fish samples treated with UHP had lower Chao1, Ace, and Shannon indices than the ones not treated with UHP at every refrigeration stage (3~12 days). Analysis of microbial community structure showed there was a difference in the changes in microbial community structure during the refrigeration process of the two types of fish samples. During the refrigeration period, the main dominant microbial communities in fish samples without UHP were Streptococcus (17.70%, 3 d), Plesiomonas (36.66%, 6 d)， and Peptostreptococcus (67.65%, 9 d; 43.4%, 12 d), while the main dominant microbial communities in fish samples treated with UHP were unclassified Enterobacteriaceae (27.36%, 3 d), Plesiomonas (40.31%, 6 d), Lactococcus (24.45%, 9 d), and Peptostreptococcus (77.91%, 12 d). Meanwhile, Peptostreptococcus was identified as the specific dominant bacteria for the later stage of cold storage (12th day) of two processed fish samples. PICRUSt functional gene prediction found that the relative abundance of genes related to stress response, toxin transport, DNA recombination, and signal transduction in fish samples treated with and without UHP increased significantly on the 9th and 12th days of refrigeration, respectively.Conclusion: Compared with the samples without UHP, UHP treatment can effectively reduce the abundance and diversity of bacterial communities, change the succession pattern of the main dominant bacterial communities, and affect the abundance structure changes of the bacterial communities in the fish samples during refrigeration.

Abstract This study aimed to study 3-dimensional (3D) changes of hard and soft tissues of skeletal class II patients after 2-jaw surgery and genioplasty. 32 adult patients diagnosed with mandibular hypoplasia who underwent 2-jaw surgery of maxillary impaction, mandibular advancement and genioplasty were enrolled. Cone-beam computed tomography and 3D stereophotogrammetry was conducted 1 week before and 6 months after surgery. Dolphin imaging software was used to establish a 3D digitizing model and 3D measurement system. Paired t-test was performed to compare the values before and after surgery. Pearson’s correlation test assessed the degree of correlations between hard and soft tissue change. The mean impaction of the maxilla was 2.600 ± 3.088 mm at A. The mean advancement of the mandible was 7.806 ± 2.647 mm at B. There was a significant upward and forward movement for most landmarks of the nose and lip, while a significant decrease in nasal tip height (lateral view), upper lip height, and upper and lower vermilion height. The nose's width was significantly increased. For maxillary, Sn, Ac-r, Ac-l, and Ls demonstrated a significant correlation with A and U1 in the anteroposterior axis. However, there were no significant correlations among them in the vertical axis. For mandibular, Li demonstrated a significant correlation with L1 in the anteroposterior axis specifically for the mandible. Notably, correlations between the landmarks of the chin's hard and soft tissues were observed across all axes. The utilization of 3-D analysis facilitated a quantitative comprehension of both hard and soft tissues, thereby furnishing valuable insights for the strategic formulation of orthognathic treatment plans targeting patients with skeletal class II conditions.

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is one of the most common malignancies globally, representing a significant public health problem with a poor prognosis. The development of efficient therapeutic strategies for HNSCC prevention and treatment is urgently needed. The PI3K/AKT/mTOR (PAM) signaling pathway is a highly conserved transduction network in eukaryotic cells that promotes cell survival, growth, and cycle progression. Dysfunction in components of this pathway, such as hyperactivity of PI3K, loss of PTEN function, and gain-of-function mutations in AKT, are well-known drivers of treatment resistance and disease progression in cancer. In this review, we discuss the major mutations and dysregulations in the PAM signaling pathway in HNSCC. We highlight the results of clinical trials involving inhibitors targeting the PAM signaling pathway as a strategy for treating HNSCC. Additionally, we examine the primary mechanisms of resistance to drugs targeting the PAM pathway and potential therapeutic strategies.

IntroductionAutism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurological condition that is marked by deficits in social interaction, difficulty expressing oneself, lack of enthusiasm, and stereotypical conduct. The TOMATIS training method is an effective music therapy for children with ASD for its individually developed programs to improve behavioral deficits.MethodsThe research employed both longitudinal and crosssectional designs.ResultsIn the cross-sectional study, the experimental group showed significant improvement in symptoms after TOMATIS training compared to the control group of children with ASD. The results validated the effect of TOMATIS treatment for ASD-related deficits, including perceptual-motor, attentional, social, and emotional issues.DiscussionASD’s auditory hypersensitivity hampers social information processing, but TOMATIS enhances cochlear frequency selectivity, aiding in capturing relevant auditory stimuli. In addition, the longitudinal study confirmed these findings, which proved TOMATIS training effective in clinically treating ASD. This study focused on audiometric indicators and behavioural improvement, elucidating the mechanisms behind the training’s success. Behavioral improvements might stem from TOMATIS’ frequency selectivity, reshaping auditory organ-cortical feedback loops to filter interference and focus on valid information.

The household energy management system (HEMS) has become an important system for energy conservation and emission reduction. In this study, home energy management considering carbon quota has been established. Firstly, the household photovoltaic output model, load model of various electrical appliances, battery load model, and charging and discharging of electric vehicles (EVs) model are established. Secondly, the carbon emission and carbon quota of household appliances and EVs are considered in these models. Thirdly, the energy optimization model of minimum the household user’s total comprehensive operation cost with the minimum total electricity consumption, carbon trading cost, battery degradation cost, and carbon quota income are proposed, taking into account constraints such as the comfort of users’ energy use time. Subsequently, the improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) algorithm is used to tackle the problem. Compared to the standard particle swarm optimization (PSO), the IPSO has significantly improved the optimization effect. By comparing the optimization results in different scenarios, the effectiveness of the strategy is verified, and the influence of different carbon trading prices on optimal energy scheduling has been analyzed. The result shows that the comprehensive consideration of carbon trading cost and total electricity cost can reduce the household carbon emissions and the total electricity cost of the household user. By increasing the carbon trading price, the user’s carbon trading income and the EV carbon quota income increase, and the overall operating cost decreases; the guidance and regulation of carbon trading price can make a valuable contribution to HEMS optimization. Compared to the original situation, the household carbon emissions are reduced by 14.58 kg, a decrease of over 21.47%, while the total comprehensive operation cost are reduced by 14.12%. Carbon quota trading can guide household users to use electricity reasonably, reducing household carbon emissions and the total cost of household electricity.

Introduction: Bone tissue engineering is considered the ideal approach for bone repair. Mesoporous bioactive glass (MBG) possesses the characteristics of high drug-loading capacity and bioactivity. Low-intensity pulsed ultrasound contributes to promoting fracture healing and bone defect repair, and dimethyloxalyl glycine (DMOG) is a small molecular inhibitor that can suppress prolyl hydroxylase, reducing the degradation of hypoxia-inducible factor.Methods: In this study, we proposed to prepare DMOG-loaded MBG/poly(D,L-lactide) composite scaffolds (DMOG-MBG/PDLLA) for promoting bone repair. The effects of ultrasound stimulation and DMOG release on the cell responses of rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and bone repair in vivo were investigated.Results and Discussion: The results showed that both ultrasound stimulation and DMOG release could promote the proliferation, adhesion and differentiation of BMSCs and HUVECs, respectively. After the implantation of scaffolds in rat cranial bone defect model for 8 weeks, the results indicated that the combined ultrasound stimulation and DMOG release contributed to the highest ability for promoting bone repair. Hence, the DMOG-MBG/PDLLA scaffolds with ultrasound stimulation are promising for application in bone repair.

Henry James enriched the representation of realism with the aesthetic practice of psychological realism theory, and his literary metaphors revealed the colorfulness of the human consciousness field. In this paper, under the background of semiotics, based on two algorithms, Semantic Association Network, Associative Component Analysis, and Dependent Syntax, we constructed a tensor representation model of literary text, extracted the symbolic information of sentences in the scholarly text, and combined the information of textual words through the association coefficients for the tensor representation of sentence metaphors. Quantitatively calculating the metaphoric semantics in the extracted literary sentences is followed by labeling and recognition of the literary sentences based on the metaphoric information. Take Henry James’, the Aristocats as an example and interpret the symbolic information in it using the model constructed in this paper. The symbolic scene of the “garden” in the novel represents the meaning of innocence and simplicity, which has the highest conceptual similarity enhancement of 3.415. Most of the emotions behind the readers’ evaluations of Henry James’s novels have positive metaphors, and the favorable rating range is mainly concentrated in the range of 0-100. In Henry James’s novels, the emotional metaphor of “repression” is more characteristic than other metaphors, with a maximum of 1.896. This paper investigates the interpretation of metaphors in Henry James’s novels, which can assist in the comprehension of the books.

This paper utilizes the idea of information diffusion to model the diffusion effect of information on civic and political education and categorizes the elements for the impact of the civic and political information diffusion system from the three levels of dissemination, acceptance and control. In order to verify the validity of the Civic and Political Information Diffusion Model, manipulative tests and empirical analysis are carried out. The results show that the breadth and depth of the Civic and Political Information Diffusion Model’s manipulability test Sig are significant. They are both less than 0.05, with significant differences. The specific factors affecting the integration and development of civic education and student management can be analyzed more intuitively from the three levels of dissemination, acceptance, and control. This shows that the use of the information diffusion model can provide an effective research direction for the development of the integration of civic education and student management in colleges and universities and lay a good foundation for the cultivation of high-level talents adapted to the development needs of the new era.

This study aims to determine the ultrastructural changes in collagen fibrils in rabbit conjunctiva after conjunctival crosslinking using riboflavin and ultraviolet A (UVA) light at an irradiation intensity of 45 mW/cm2. Conjunctival crosslinking may increase conjunctival stiffness. The supertemporal quadrants of the right eyes of 24 adult rabbits were treated with a topical riboflavin solution (0.25%) before irradiation with UVA light at 45 mW/cm2 for 4 min. After 3 weeks, the collagen fibrils in fibril bundles were examined by electron microscopy. Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression levels of collagen I and collagen III in the rabbits’ conjunctiva. The diameter of the collagen fibrils in the fibril bundles varied slightly, ranging from 30 to 60 nm in the conjunctival stroma of the control group. In the treatment group, the diameter of collagen fibrils ranged from 60 to 90 nm. The thickest collagen fibrils were observed in the treatment group (up to 90 nm in diameter). In contrast, those in the conjunctival stroma of the control group were considerably smaller (up to 60 nm in diameter). However, thicknesses of collagen fibrils displayed a unimodal distribution. Both collagen I and collagen III increased after treatment with riboflavin and UVA light irradiation at 45 mW/cm2. The data indicate that in rabbits, conjunctival crosslinking with riboflavin and UVA light at 45 mW/cm2 for 4 min is safe and does not induce ultrastructural alterations of the conjunctival cells. The conjunctival crosslinking with riboflavin and UVA light at 45 mW/cm2 can increase the diameter of collagen fibrils, but the average densities of collagen I and collagen III have no statistical significance.

Electroless nickel-phosphorus workpieces undergo a variety of surface/subsurface deformations and internal organizational changes throughout the nano-cutting process that have a major impact on the machining quality of microstructured functional surfaces. In this paper, molecular dynamics simulations were performed for nano-cutting of electroless nickel-phosphorus (Ni–P) workpieces obtained at different cooling rates (1e11 K/s, 1e12 K/s, 1e13 K/s). To research the mechanisms of material removal and surface formation during nano-cutting, the impacts of various cutting depths on atomic ordering, cutting force, cutting temperature, shear strain, material pile-up, and surface shape were examined. The simulations showed that material removal of NiP coatings was mainly based on nanoscale extrusion rather than macroscale shear. The radial distribution function of NiP coatings was dominated by the Ni–P pair, the cutting force of the nano-cutting process was more stable, the thrust force was smaller, and the machined surface roughness Ra was smaller when the cooling rate was higher. However, the number of atoms on the upper surface of the workpiece increased more, and the actual machined surface contour line deviated from the ideal surface contour when the cooling rate was faster. To increase the forming accuracy of the machined surface on NiP without destroying the machined surface roughness, the cooling rate must be slowed appropriately for the NiP alloy to form a tiny amount of crystalline organization or to minimize the nano-cutting depth.

A growing interest in second-language learning has resulted in remarkable empirical studies that attempts to explore the approach of improving reading abilities. English reading learning occupies an essential position in the curriculum in college, which requires the students to acquire a higher inferential competence of the reading comprehension. Compared with the traditional reading studies, it can be said that great progress has been made in studies of English reading learning if we take it as an independent subject in language use and language production. However, much evidence indicates that we should probe the exact and implied meaning in depth of the reading materials. Thus, in our study, we offer a practical application of Indirect Speech Act Theory into English reading learning, demonstrating that the theory can help students to decide the tactful meaning intended in the reading.

The Psychology of Working Theory (PWT) was developed to complement existing vocational theories[1], in which work volition is a central construct. There is a lack of local measurement tools for Chinese university students’ work volition, which restricts the breadth and depth of research. Based on survey data from 960 college students nationwide, this study explored the cross-cultural validity of the WVS-SV. Through exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, a measurement scale of work volition was developed involving two dimensions of volition and constraints, with a total of fourteen items. This study opens up new perspectives for work volition research, enriches the literature on careers guidance research, and provides an effective measurement tool for subsequent research on college students’ work volition.

Abstract The charge transport in quasi‐2D perovskites limits their applications despite the superior stability and optoelectronic properties. Herein, a novel strategy is proposed to enhance the charge transport by regulating 3D perovskite phase in quasi‐2D perovskite films. The carbohydrazide (CBH) as an additive is introduced into (PEA)2MA3Pb4I13 precursors, which slows down the crystallization process and improves the phase ratio and crystal quality of the 3D phase. This structure change results in a significant improvement in charge transport and extraction, leading to the device demonstrating an almost 100% internal quantum efficiency, a peak responsivity of 0.41 A W−1, and a detectivity of 1.31 × 1012 Jones at 570 nm under 0 V bias. Furthermore, the air and moisture stability of (PEA)2MA3Pb4I13 films is not deteriorated but gets significantly improved due to the better crystal quality and the passivation of defects by the residual CBH molecule. This work demonstrates a strategy for improving the charge transport properties of quasi‐2D perovskites and also sheds light on solving the stability issue of 3D perovskite films via the proper passivation or additives, which will inspire the fast development of the perovskite community.

Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of egg white powder addition on the fried characteristics of surimi and its influencing mechanism. Methods: The cheap silver carp was used as raw material, and the egg white powder was added to the surimi for compounding. The frying characteristics of surimi were characterized by measuring porosity, hardness and water absorption, and the dynamic rheological properties, foam stability and SDS-PAGE of surimi were measured to explore its influencing mechanism. Results: With the increase of egg white powder content, the porosity and water absorption of fried fish ball increased first and then decreased, and the hardness decreased first and then increased. The effect of 10.0% egg white powder was the best. In addition, SDS-PAGE analysis showed that, new bands with molecular weight of ≥100 kDa were generated in surimi. Accordingly, the porosity of fried fish balls was positively correlated to the gel property and foam stability of surimi. Conclusion: The addition of egg white powder improved the gel property and foam stability of surimi, thereby increasing the stability of pore structure of surimi during frying, improving the porosity and taste of fried fish balls, and improving its edible quality.

Objective: To improve the preservation quality of blueberry. Methods: Based on the influencing factors of the effective chlorine concentration, treatment temperature and soaking time of the SAEW, and the response value of the microbial sterilization rate on the surface of blueberries, the orthogonal test was used to optimize the process conditions. At the same time, the optimally treated blueberries and sterile water-treated blueberries (control group) were stored at (25±1) ℃, and the bad fruit rate, hardness, respiration strength, soluble solids content, titratable acid content, anthocyanin content, and malondialdehyde (MDA) content of blueberries were measured every 7 days. Results: The optimal sterilization conditions were an effective chlorine concentration of 120 mg/L, a treatment temperature of 20 ℃ and a soaking time of 20 min, and the sterilization rate under this condition was 92.6%. Conclusion: The SAEW treatment has a better preservation effect on the blueberry fruit.

Under the background of dual carbon strategy and coal shortage,the existing demand response mechanism of evaluation and incentive is relatively extensive,causing challenges such as excessive redundancy of invitation and difficulty in mining high-quality users,so the accurate evaluation and dynamic incentive decision method of aggregators' demand response considering contribution degree is proposed. Firstly,the accurate evaluation system of demand response considering static and dynamic process is developed and the static evaluation follows the existing demand response evaluation system at the grid side,while the dynamic evaluation focuses on the consistency between the actual load and the target load in each period. Then,the user contribution index is described from the economic and load dimensions,and a two-part incentive settlement scheme with static and dynamic evaluation is designed. Based on that,the dynamic incentive decision model of aggregator's demand response with the contribution degree is got. Finally,the extensive numerical study confirms that the proposed method can achieve the directional incentive of high-quality users,thus improving the response quality and reducing the invitation redundancy without affecting the existing demand response system.

Objective: This study aimed to optimize the optimal extraction process of total flavonoids from the root of Clausena anisum-olens and determine the yield and antibacterial effect of total flavonoids from different producing areas. Methods: The total flavonoids were extracted by ultrasonic method from the roots of C. anisum-olens. Through single factor and orthogonal test, the effect of ultrasonic assisted extraction conditions on the extraction rate of total flavonoids from the root of C. anisum-olens was investigated, and the extraction and antibacterial test of total flavonoids from various producing areas were carried out. Results: The optimum extraction process of total flavonoids from C. anisum-olens was as follows: temperature 70 ℃, ultrasonic power 50 W, ethanol concentration 90%, solid-liquid ratio 1∶16 (g/mL), extraction time 40 min. Under the control of these conditions, the extraction rate of total flavonoids was 3.361%, and the yield of total flavonoids in the root bark of C. anisum-olens in Chongzuo city was the highest, up to 4.781%; the total flavonoids of C. anisum-olens had strong inhibitory effects on Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, borer killing bacteria and Escherichia coli, indicating that it had broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. Conclusion: Ultrasonic method was suitable for the extraction of flavonoids from the root of C. anisum-olens. The yield of flavonoids from different producing areas varied greatly, and the total flavonoids had broad spectrum antibacterial activity.

The author's academic behavior prediction aims to mine the behavioral relationships of authors from heterogeneous academic networks to promote scientific research cooperation and produce high-level and high-quality research results.Most of the existing methods of node representation learning do not consider the semantic feature,content feature,global structure of the node,etc.It is difficult to effectively learn the low-dimensional characteristics of the node in the network.In order to effectively integrate the multi-dimensional features and global structure of nodes,a heterogeneous network representation learning method(HNEMA) that integrates BiLSTM,attention mechanism and clustering algorithm is proposed to improve the predictive effect of author's academic behavior.HNEMA first integrates the multi-dimensional features of nodes based on BiLSTM and attention mechanism,aggregates the same type of neighbors on the same meta-path or different meta-paths,and then aggregates the multi-dimensional features of all neighbors of the node to be characterized.Based on this,a clustering algorithm is used to capture the global features of the node,so as to comprehensively and effectively learn the low-dimensional characteristics of the node.On the basis of comprehensive feature learning,logistic regression classifier is used to predict author's academic behavior.Validation experiments on three public datasets show that HNEMA has a certain degree of improvement in AUC and F1 indicators compared to other methods.

Background: Reconstruction of cranial bone defects is one of the most challenging problems in reconstructive surgery, and several biological tissue engineering methods have been used to promote bone repair, such as genetic engineering of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs). Fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (Fgfr2) is an important regulator of bone construction and can be used as a potential gene editing site. However, its role in the osteogenesis process of BMSCs remains unclear. This article clarifies the function of Fgfr2 in BMSCs and explores the role of Fgfr2-overexpressed BMSCs carried by light-induced porous hydrogel (GelMA) in the repair of cranial bone defects.Methods: Lenti-virus was used to overexpress Fgfr2 in BMSCs, and cell counting kit-8, transwell, and flow cytometry assays were conducted to investigate the proliferation, migration, and characteristics. After 0, 3, 7, and 10 days of osteogenic or chondrogenic induction, the changes in osteogenic and chondrogenic ability were detected by real-time PCR, western blot, alkaline phosphatase staining, alizarin Red staining, and alcian blue staining. To investigate the viability of BMSCs carried by GelMA, calcein and propyl iodide staining were carried out as well. Finally, a critical cranial bone defect model was established in 6-week-old male mice and micro-computerized tomography, masson staining, and immunohistochemistry of OCN were conducted to test the bone regeneration properties of implanting Fgfr2-overexpressed BMSCs with GelMA in cranial bone defects over 6 weeks.Results: Overexpression of Fgfr2 in BMSCs significantly promoted cell proliferation and migration and increased the percentage of CD200+CD105+ cells. After osteogenic and chondrogenic induction, Fgfr2 overexpression enhanced both osteogenic and chondrogenic ability. Furthermore, in cranial bone defect regeneration, BMSCs carried by light-induced GelMA showed favorable biocompatibility, and Fgfr2-overexpressed BMSCs induced superior cranial bone regeneration compared to a normal BMSCs group and an untreated blank group.Conclusion:In vitro, Fgfr2 enhanced the proliferation, migration, and stemness of BMSCs and promoted osteogenesis and chondrogenesis after parallel induction. In vivo, BMSCs with Fgfr2 overexpression carried by GelMA showed favorable performance in treating critical cranial bone defects. This study clarifies the multiple functions of Fgfr2 in BMSCs and provides a new method for future tissue engineering.

Osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are chronic and progressive inflammatory joint diseases that affect a large population worldwide. Intra-articular administration of various therapeutics is applied to alleviate pain, prevent further progression, and promote cartilage regeneration and bone remodeling in both OA and RA. However, the effectiveness of intra-articular injection with traditional drugs is uncertain and controversial due to issues such as rapid drug clearance and the barrier afforded by the dense structure of cartilage. Nanoparticles can improve the efficacy of intra-articular injection by facilitating controlled drug release, prolonged retention time, and enhanced penetration into joint tissue. This review systematically summarizes nanoparticle-based therapies for OA and RA management. Firstly, we explore the interaction between nanoparticles and joints, including articular fluids and cells. This is followed by a comprehensive analysis of current nanoparticles designed for OA/RA, divided into two categories based on therapeutic mechanisms: direct therapeutic nanoparticles and nanoparticles-based drug delivery systems. We highlight nanoparticle design for tissue/cell targeting and controlled drug release before discussing challenges of nanoparticle-based therapies for efficient OA and RA treatment and their future clinical translation. We anticipate that rationally designed local injection of nanoparticles will be more effective, convenient, and safer than the current therapeutic approach.

Understory planting affects the growth environment of tea plants, regulating the tea plant growth and the formation of secondary metabolites, which in turn affects the flavor of Xiaobai white tea. The present research adopted biochemical composition determination, widely targeted volatilities (WTV) analysis, multivariate statistical analysis, and odor activity value (OAV) analysis to analyze the characteristics in the macro-composition and volatile compounds of understory white tea. The sensory evaluation results indicated that understory Xiaobai white tea (LWTs) was stronger than ordinary Xiaobai white tea (PWTs) in terms of the taste of smoothness, sweetness, and thickness as well as the aromas of the flower and sweet. Understory planting reduced light intensity and air temperature, increased air humidity, organic matter, total nitrogen, and available nitrogen contents, which improved the growth environment of tea plants. The phytochemical analysis showed that the water-extractable substances, caffeine, flavonoids, and soluble sugar contents of understory tea fresh-leaf (LF) were higher than those of ordinary fresh-leaf (PF). The phytochemical analysis showed that the free amino acids, theaflavins, thearubigins, water-extractable substances, and tea polyphenols contents of LWTs were significantly higher than those of PWTs, which may explain the higher smoothness, sweetness, and thickness scores of LWTs than those of PWTs. The 2-heptanol, 2-decane, damasone, and cedar alcohol contents were significantly higher in LWTs than in PWTs, which may result in stronger flowery and sweet aromas in LWTs than in PWTs. These results provide a firm experimental basis for the observed differences in the flavor of LWTs and PWTs.

With the accelerated pace of green technology innovation, green environmental protection has gradually become a new direction for venture capital institutions to invest. The Chinese government has issued many policies to guide venture capital and other social funds in providing financial support for green technology innovation. However, it has ignored the requirement of coordinated development between green technology innovation and venture capital. Most studies focus on the one-way relationship between venture capital and green technology innovation, but there are few studies on the interaction between the venture capital network and green technology innovation network. This study takes 27 cities in the Yangtze River Delta city cluster as an example, using the data of venture capital events and joint patent applications of green technology from 2005 to 2018 to construct a venture capital network and a green technology innovation network. It then extracts the network characteristic attributes of the node cities in the two networks to characterize the development level of the two networks in the node cities, constructs a coupling coordination degree model, and analyzes and evaluates the coupling coordination level of each network. The results show the following: (1) the development of the venture capital and green technology innovation networks tends to be gradually coordinated during the study period, and the green technology innovation network in cities with a high level of coordination has a significant influence on the development of the two networks. In cities with a high level of coordination, the contribution of the green technology innovation network to the coupled and coordinated development of the two networks lags behind that of the venture capital network at the beginning, gradually catching up and widening the gap. At the spatial scale, the level of coordinated development of both networks in the Yangtze River Delta city cluster gradually develops from a ">" pattern at the beginning to a clear "Z" pattern and shows a spatial pattern of gradual spread to inland cities. (2) There are differences in the influence of four proximity indicators on the coupled and coordinated development of the venture capital and green technology innovation networks: the economic proximity among node cities can significantly promote the coupled and coordinated development of both networks; the institutional and social proximity of node cities in the venture capital network can also play a certain driving role. However, this driving role is not obvious in the green technology innovation network, and even hinders the coupled and coordinated development of both networks. The geographical proximity of node cities has no significant effect on the coupled and coordinated development of the two networks, but there is a certain negative effect. This study presents a way of approaching the controversy of the different effects of multidimensional proximity on the coupled and coordinated development of the venture capital and green technology innovation networks and enriches research on the coupled and coordinated development of both networks. It also provides theoretical references for the coordinated development of urban venture capital and green technology innovation.

The epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) is highly expressed in the liver during development and diseases. However, its role in the development and pathology of liver remains to be explored. The liver tissues of EpCAM-/- and wildtype (WT) mice at P0 stage were used for RNA sequencing. The differently expressed miRNAs, lncRNAs and mRNAs were selected and confirmed by qPCR. The expression of metabolism-related gene SET domain bifurcated 2 (Setdb2) was significantly increased in the liver of EpCAM-/- mice; the triglyceride (TG) and total cholesterol (TC) levels in the liver were also markedly decreased in EpCAM-/- mice. The microRNA (miRNA)-long noncoding RNA (lncRNA)-mRNA regulatory networks indicated that EpCAM may play important roles in glucose and lipid metabolism of the liver during development and in disease. The comprehensive miRNA, lncRNA and mRNA expression profiles in the developing liver of EpCAM-/- mice established here might help to elucidate functions and mechanisms of EpCAM during development and in diseases of the liver.

As time series data with internal correlation, networks traffic data can be used for abnormal detection using Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) and its variants, but existing models are difficult to calculate in parallel, and gradient explosion or vanishing easily occurs. To address this problem, we propose a Bidirectional Independent Recurrent Neural Network (BiIndRNN) with parallel computation and adjustable gradient, which can extract the bidirectional structural features of networks traffic by forward and backward input and capture the spatial influence in the data flow. To establish the dependencies on the forward and backward moments of networks traffic, a model combining Global Attention (GA) with BiIndRNN is proposed to pay more attention to the moments containing essential information. Taking the UNSW-NB15 dataset as the object, the GA expression of the packets feature vector of the networks is derived, feature fusion, as well as loss calculation, is performed for multiple fully connected layers. The experimental results show that, compared with traditional deep and shallow machine learning and other state-of-the-art technologies, our GA-BiIndRNN model converges faster, the accuracy, precision, and F1 scores are all above 99%, and the false positive rate (FPR) is close to 0.36%, which can effectively identify normal and malicious network activities. These results provide a theoretical basis for the rapid implementation of protective measures.

Greenhouse ventilation has always been an important concern for agricultural workers. This paper aims to introduce a low-cost wind speed estimating method based on SURF (Speeded Up Robust Feature) feature matching and the schlieren technique for airflow mixing with large temperature differences and density differences like conditions on the vent of the greenhouse. The fluid motion is directly described by the pixel displacement through the fluid kinematics analysis. Combining the algorithm with the corresponding image morphology analysis and SURF feature matching algorithm, the schlieren image with feature points is used to match the changes in air flow images in adjacent frames to estimate the velocity from pixel change. Through experiments, this method is suitable for the speed estimation of turbulent or disturbed fluid images. When the supply air speed remains constant, the method in this article obtains 760 sets of effective feature matching point groups from 150 frames of video, and approximately 500 sets of effective feature matching point groups are within 0.1 difference of the theoretical dimensionless speed. Under the supply conditions of high-frequency wind speed changes and compared with the digital signal of fan speed and data from wind speed sensors, the trend of wind speed changes is basically in line with the actual changes. The estimation error of wind speed is basically within 10%, except when the wind speed supply suddenly stops or the wind speed is 0 m/s. This method involves the ability to estimate the wind speed of air mixing with different densities, but further research is still needed in terms of statistical methods and experimental equipment.

NiP coating has excellent physicochemical properties and is one of the best materials for coating optical components. When processing NiP coatings on optical components, single-point diamond turning (SPDT) is generally adopted as the first process. However, SPDT turning produces periodic turning patterns on the workpiece, which impacts the optical performance of the component. Magnetorheological finishing (MRF) is a deterministic sub-aperture polishing process based on computer-controlled optical surface forming that can correct surface shape errors and improve the surface quality of workpieces. This paper analyzes the characteristics of NiP coating and develops a magnetorheological fluid specifically for the processing of NiP coating. Based on the basic Preston principle, a material removal model for the MRF polishing of NiP coating was established, and the MRF manufacturing process was optimized by orthogonal tests. The optimized MRF polishing process quickly removes the SPDT turning tool pattern from the NiP coating surface and corrects surface profile errors. At the same time, the surface quality of the NiP coating has also been improved, with the surface roughness increasing from Ra 2.054 nm for SPDT turning to Ra 0.705 nm.

Abstract Temporomandibular joint OA (TMJOA) is a common degenerative joint disease, leads to structural damage and ultimately loss of function. Matrix degradation is one of the first pathogenesis during the progression of OA, it was effective to inhibit matrix degradation to block the development of OA. In this study, an in vivo model (compressive mechanical force) and an in vitro model (IL-1β) were used to induce OA-like changes in TMJ cartilage and chondrocytes. We revealed lysyl oxidase like-2 (LOXL2) play a critical role in TMJOA. LOXL2 expression decreased in mechanical stress/IL-β induced TMJOA-like lesions in both in vivo models and in vitro models. Furthermore, recombinant LOXL2 (rhLOXL2) treatment ameliorated the degenerative changes induced by mechanical stress in vivo, including the thinning cartilage, down-expression of collagen II and proteoglycan, and over-expression of TNF-a, while LOXL2 antibody (anti-LOXL2) treatment exacerbated these changes. Mechanistically, the protection of LOXL2 in chondrocytes was induced partly through activation of the Integrin/FAK pathway. The inhibition of the Integrin/FAK pathway could neutralized the effects caused by rhLOXL2. Collectively, our study suggests that the LOXL2 plays a protective role in mechanical stress induced TMJOA-like changes, and the Integrin/FAK pathway may be a key downstream pathway in this process.

This study explores the effects of the interactions among Na2O content, metakaolin content and activator modulus on the compressive strength and autogenous shrinkage of alkali-activated slag–metakaolin (AASM) materials. The Box–Behnken RSM design was used to create an experimental scheme, establish a model, and optimize the mix proportions. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and Mercury intrusion experiments were used to analyze the compositions, microstructures, and pore structures of the hydration products of the AASM, respectively. Results showed that the interactions between the activator modulus and metakaolin content, as well as Na2O content and metakaolin content, are the key factors affecting the compressive strength and autogenous shrinkage, respectively, of the AASM. Under the optimal conditions of Na2O content of 6%, sodium silicate modulus of 1.5, and metakaolin/slag ratio of 1: 3, the relative errors in the model verification test for compressive strength and autogenous shrinkage are 0% and 0.18%, respectively. In the water glass modulus and metakaolin content interaction, Ca2+, A13+, and Si4+ ions in the composite system react with several [SiO4]4− groups to form C-A-S-H and N-A-S-H gels, which fill each other to make the composite structure denser. When Na2O interacts with metakaolin, the OH− and Na+ in the solution react with A13+ and Si4+ to generate additional N-A-S-H, thereby reducing the compressive strength of the composite system, mitigating autogenous shrinkage, and increasing volume stability.

Abstract Background Brain image genetics provides enormous opportunities for examining the effects of genetic variations on the brain. Many studies have shown that the structure, function, and abnormality (e.g., those related to Alzheimer’s disease) of the brain are heritable. However, which genetic variations contribute to these phenotypic changes is not completely clear. Advances in neuroimaging and genetics have led us to obtain detailed brain anatomy and genome-wide information. These data offer us new opportunities to identify genetic variations such as single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that affect brain structure. In this paper, we perform a genome-wide variant-based study, and aim to identify top SNPs or SNP sets which have genetic effects with the largest neuroanotomic coverage at both voxel and region-of-interest (ROI) levels. Based on the voxelwise genome-wide association study (GWAS) results, we used the exhaustive search to find the top SNPs or SNP sets that have the largest voxel-based or ROI-based neuroanatomic coverage. For SNP sets with >2 SNPs, we proposed an efficient genetic algorithm to identify top SNP sets that can cover all ROIs or a specific ROI. Results We identified an ensemble of top SNPs, SNP-pairs and SNP-sets, whose effects have the largest neuroanatomic coverage. Experimental results on real imaging genetics data show that the proposed genetic algorithm is superior to the exhaustive search in terms of computational time for identifying top SNP-sets. Conclusions We proposed and applied an informatics strategy to identify top SNPs, SNP-pairs and SNP-sets that have genetic effects with the largest neuroanatomic coverage. The proposed genetic algorithm offers an efficient solution to accomplish the task, especially for identifying top SNP-sets.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is the most serious complication of spinal injury, often leading to severe dysfunction of the limbs below the injured segment. Conventional therapy approaches are becoming less and less effective, and gene therapy is a new research direction by now.

Intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS) is the most common cause of ischemic stroke among Asian population, and its predilection site is middle cerebral artery. Symptomatic middle cerebral atherosclerotic stenosis (sMCAS) has a high risk of stroke recurrence and needs active interventions, but the choice of intervention strategy is controversial. This article reviews the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, imaging evaluation and intervention strategies of sMCAS, aiming to provide reference for individual selection of intervention strategies.

A single-slope greenhouse (SSG) is the general name of a kind of agricultural greenhouse facility widely used in China. Microclimate studies for SSGs in Weifang, Shandong Province, are relatively scarce. This paper mainly discusses the test data of nine SSGs including temperature, humidity, solar global radiation intensity, CO2 concentration, wind speed, and vapor pressure deficit (VPD) trend. Moreover, the conservation of quality method is used to estimate the ventilation volume and humidity growth after opening the top vent in the greenhouse. Through the analysis in this paper, for local SSGs, the internal environmental change has commonality but its internal environment is still influenced by many factors, such as plant planting density, internal cover, plant growth height, and vent opening time. In addition, the method in this paper can provide a quantitative tool for calculating and controlling humidity for researchers and greenhouse workers and provide a basis for greenhouse ventilation strategies.
