2. An Efficient End-to-End 3D Voxel Reconstruction based on Neural Architecture Search

Abstract

Using neural networks to represent 3D objects has become popular. However, many previous works employ neural networks with fixed architecture and size to represent different 3D objects, which lead to excessive network parameters for simple objects and limited reconstruction accuracy for complex objects. For each 3D model, it is desirable to have an end-to-end neural network with as few parameters as possible to achieve high-fidelity reconstruction. In this paper, we propose an efficient voxel reconstruction method utilizing neural architecture search (NAS) and binary classification. Taking the number of layers, the number of nodes in each layer, and the activation function of each layer as the search space, a specific network architecture can be obtained based on reinforcement learning technology. Furthermore, to get rid of the traditional surface reconstruction algorithms (e.g., marching cube) used after network inference, we complete the end-to-end network by classifying binary voxels. Compared to other signed distance field (SDF) prediction or binary classification networks, our method achieves significantly higher reconstruction accuracy using fewer network parameters., Comment: Accepted by ICPR 2022 (oral presentation)

Abstract

Every compact symmetric space $M$ admits a dual noncompact symmetric space $\check{M}$. When $M$ is a generalized Grassmannian, we can view $\check{M}$ as a open submanifold of it consisting of space-like subspaces \cite{HL}. Motivated from this, we study the embeddings from noncompact symmetric spaces to their compact duals, including space-like embedding for generalized Grassmannians, Borel embedding for Hermitian symmetric spaces and the generalized embedding for symmetric R-spaces. We will compare these embeddings and describe their images using cut loci.

We show a Z^2-filtered algebraic structure and a "quantum to classical" principle on the torus-equivariant quantum cohomology of a complete flag variety of general Lie type, generalizing earlier works of Leung and the second author. 47. L2Net: Infrared and Visible Image Fusion Using Lightweight Large Kernel Convolution Network

Abstract

The existing infrared and visible image fusion methods typically apply small kernel convolution that can extract local information or details of the source images but cannot easily perceive their global information. This article proposes a lightweight large kernel convolution network for infrared and visible image fusion, L2Net, primarily comprising three parts: shallow feature extraction, deep feature extraction, and fused image reconstruction. The shallow feature extraction part extracts the shallow initial features of the input images, and the deep feature extraction part outputs the final fused features from the initial features using large kernel feature extraction (LKFE) modules. The LKFE contains a large kernel attention (LKA) block and a small kernel skip (SKS) block, which help L2Net to simultaneously extract the global and local information from the source images. The large kernel convolution in L2Net is decomposed into three lightweight convolutions to reduce the number of parameters and computational cost. In addition, an edge enhancement module (EEM) is designed to extract vital edge details. The fused image reconstruction part transformed the final fused features into the final fused image. Experimental analysis shows that our L2Net obtains better fusion performance and higher running efficiency than the previous state-of-the-art methods. Moreover, object detection experiments demonstrate that our L2Net’s fused images can effectively improve detection performance.

Abstract

Nitrogen (N) speciation could influence the efficiency of Cd accumulation by plants grown in Cd-contaminated areas. However, limited information has been reported on how the application of N speciation to rice affects the Cd accumulation. Here, we investigated the physiological and genetic mechanisms involved in Cd uptake by roots, xylem translocation and subsequent Cd accumulation in rice (Oryza sativa L.) affected by different NO3−/NH4+ ratios under low-and-high Cd stress. Results showed that both N speciation and Cd stress affected plant growth, with high NH4+-N ratios treatments having higher tissue biomass, and high Cd treatment reducing tissue biomass. The Cd concentrations in shoots and roots were reduced with the increasing NH4+-N ratios (except for the full NO3−-N treatment), but did not affect the Cd translocation factor (TF). The total Cd accumulation of the whole plant were also reduced with the high NH4+-N ratios (NO3−/NH4+, 1:2 and 0:1) on the low Cd treatment due to the decline both in the Cd accumulation of shoots and roots. A scanning ion-selective electrode technique (SIET) showed that the net Cd2+ influxes at the root hair zone were inhibited with the increasing NH4+-N ratios in absence or pretreatment with different NO3−/NH4+ ratios. Additionally, the Cd concentrations in xylem sap were also displayed a decline trend with the increasing NH4+-N ratios under two dose Cd treatments. Furthermore, the gene expression related to Cd uptake (OsIRT1 and OsNRAPM5) and transport (OsHMA2) in roots showed the familiar tendencies with those of Cd uptake and transport at the physiological level treated with different NO3−/NH4+ ratios under two dose Cd treatments. It is concluded that increasing ammonium nutrition contributes to the inhibition of Cd uptake, xylem transport and subsequent accumulation in rice.
