An adequate supply of a high quality labor force is crucial for national economic and social well-being; consequently, nations worldwide have placed significant emphasis on university graduate employability. Nonetheless, in Taiwan, a mismatch between knowledge acquired in universities and competences required by the job market has dramatically encumbered the supply of a high quality labor force. Thus, this research endeavored to determine the major career services that should be offered in higher educational institutions to alleviate the aforementioned human resource problems. The analytic hierarchy process was adopted as the major instrument for calculating the relative importance of each career service task, and 169 university alumni working in four major career fields participated in this research. The results indicated that participants from different career fields and who graduated from different colleges at different times have very different opinions of job service requests; therefore, universities should seriously consider the differences among students and provide the necessary services for each student in line with his/her particular requests. Moreover, although almost all participants agreed that sharpening students' job-search and interview skills was crucial in assisting students to find their first jobs, this service was extremely insufficient in universities, and universities thus have to place particular emphasis on this task in the future.

Taiwan's teacher training system currently faces a serious disorder. The excessive number of teacher education programs being set up in universities by the Ministry of Education has dramatically increased the number of teachers. The situation, coupled with the country of low birth rate and high retirement age, brings about fewer teaching vacancies than the number of available teachers. The over-expansion of universities has resulted in a situation that almost every secondary school graduate can access higher education institutions, which subsequently produce a great number of graduates, far exceeding the vacancies in the workplace. This plus with the recent economic recession intensifies competition among individuals hunting for jobs. Thus, it is imperative to identify the ideal jobs for graduates, and the first step is figuring out the main determinants for selecting jobs and the relative importance of these determinants. A self-developed questionnaire was administered to 200 education major graduates in Taiwan. The result indicated that high job stability was perceived to be the most important factor among participants. Also, the education students considered school teacher or administrator to be the ideal jobs.

Recently, considerable concern has arisen over the complex financial markets, which are inclined to require more individual responsibility. Accordingly, students have to bear more responsibility for their financial management. Nevertheless, in a sluggish economy with high unemployment, the commercial events during the last decade have rendered the transition into financial independence more challenging for social freshmen. In addition, some statistical information has revealed the negative outgrowth that occurred in the wake of student loans and the reduction of beginning salaries. Given the aforementioned hidden risks of finance and the importance of money management, we thus endeavored to investigate the factors students consider when choosing financial tools. For the sake of providing students with information for reference, we delivered a similar questionnaire to professionals in the field. We used the received data to examine the gap between experts' views and students' perceptions and then inferred possible reasons for the comparison results.The AHP serves as the chief instrument for calculating relative importance and weighting the significance of the factors. We sent the questionnaires to 140 college students at National Chiayi University and 20 professionals in the financial field and 20 professionals in financial field. The general results indicate that opinions differ among individual students, and opinions of students are rather different from those of the experts; thus, we propose that financial institutions should take different opinions into consideration when designing their financial products.

Background: Gastric diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is often associated with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection. Those in the early stage could be treated with H. pylori eradication therapy, and are classified into a sensitive group and a resistant group. Methods: Genome‐wide miRNA and miRNA expression profiles were obtained from biopsy specimens of gastric DLBCL. MiRNAs and their targets as predictors of responses to H. pylori eradication therapy were identified through differential expression and pathway enrichment analysis, and further confirmed with transfection experiments in lymphoma cell lines of B‐cell origin. Results: Genome‐wide miRNA and mRNA profiles showed miR‐200 was associated with the sensitive group, and that the resistant group had higher levels of miR‐155 and lower levels of DEPTOR (an inhibitor of mTOR) than the sensitive group. BJAB cells transfected with miR‐155 also had lower DEPTOR and higher mTOR levels. Therefore, miR‐155‐mediated inhibition of DEPTOR with secondary activation of mTOR was a potential marker for resistance to H. pylori eradication therapy. In contrast, pathway enrichment analysis showed that Toll‐like receptor 5 (TLR5), the receptor for bacterial flagellin, was a potential marker for sensitivity to H. pylori eradication therapy. In an independent series, stronger expression of pS6K1 (a direct target of mTOR) was associated with the resistant group and morphologic evidence of active gastritis was associated with the sensitive group. Conclusions: These findings showed that activation of the miR‐155‐DEPTOR pathway is a marker for resistance to H. pylori eradication therapy, and that histological evaluation of active gastritis might be used as a surrogate marker to predict responses to H. pylori eradication therapy in gastric DLBCL.
