Previous multi-view contrastive learning methods typically operate at two scales: instance-level and cluster-level. Instance-level approaches construct positive and negative pairs based on sample correspondences, aiming to bring positive pairs closer and push negative pairs further apart in the latent space. Cluster-level methods focus on calculating cluster assignments for samples under each view and maximize view consensus by reducing distribution discrepancies, e.g., minimizing KL divergence or maximizing mutual information. However, these two types of methods either introduce false negatives, leading to reduced model discriminability, or overlook local structures and cannot measure relationships between clusters across views explicitly. To this end, we propose a method named Multi-view Granular-ball Contrastive Clustering (MGBCC). MGBCC segments the sample set into coarse-grained granular balls, and establishes associations between intra-view and cross-view granular balls. These associations are reinforced in a shared latent space, thereby achieving multi-granularity contrastive learning. Granular balls lie between instances and clusters, naturally preserving the local topological structure of the sample set. Modeling feature interactions plays a crucial role in accurately predicting click-through rates (CTR) in advertising systems. To capture the intricate patterns of interaction, many existing models employ matrix-factorization techniques to represent features as lower-dimensional embedding vectors, enabling the modeling of interactions as products between these embeddings. In this paper, we propose a general framework called IPA to systematically unify these models. Our framework comprises three key components: the Interaction Function, which facilitates feature interaction; the Layer Pooling, which constructs higher-level interaction layers; and the Layer Aggregator, which combines the outputs of all layers to serve as input for the subsequent classifier. We demonstrate that most existing models can be categorized within our framework by making specific choices for these three components. Through extensive experiments and a dimensional collapse analysis, we evaluate the performance of these choices. Furthermore, by leveraging the most powerful components within our framework, we introduce a novel model that achieves competitive results compared to state-of-the-art CTR models. PFL gets significant GMV lift during online A/B test in Tencent's advertising platform and has been deployed as the production model in several primary scenarios.

Multi-domain learning (MDL) has become a prominent topic in enhancing the quality of personalized services. It's critical to learn commonalities between domains and preserve the distinct characteristics of each domain. However, this leads to a challenging dilemma in MDL. On the one hand, a model needs to leverage domain-aware modules such as experts or embeddings to preserve each domain's distinctiveness. On the other hand, real-world datasets often exhibit long-tailed distributions across domains, where some domains may lack sufficient samples to effectively train their specific modules. Unfortunately, nearly all existing work falls short of resolving this dilemma. To this end, we propose a novel Cross-experts Covariance Loss for Disentangled Learning model (Crocodile), which employs multiple embedding tables to make the model domain-aware at the embeddings which consist most parameters in the model, and a covariance loss upon these embeddings to disentangle them, enabling the model to capture diverse user interests among domains. Empirical analysis demonstrates that our method successfully addresses both challenges and outperforms all state-of-the-art methods on public datasets. During online A/B testing in Tencent's advertising platform, Crocodile achieves 0.72% CTR lift and 0.73% GMV lift on a primary advertising scenario.

Large Language Models (LLMs) have made great strides in areas such as language processing and computer vision. Despite the emergence of diverse techniques to improve few-shot learning capacity, current LLMs fall short in handling the languages in biology and chemistry. For example, they are struggling to capture the relationship between molecule structure and pharmacochemical properties. Consequently, the few-shot learning capacity of small-molecule drug modification remains impeded. In this work, we introduced DrugLLM, a LLM tailored for drug design. During the training process, we employed Group-based Molecular Representation (GMR) to represent molecules, arranging them in sequences that reflect modifications aimed at enhancing specific molecular properties. DrugLLM learns how to modify molecules in drug discovery by predicting the next molecule based on past modifications. Extensive computational experiments demonstrate that DrugLLM can generate new molecules with expected properties based on limited examples, presenting a powerful few-shot molecule generation capacity., Comment: 17 pages, 3 figures

Click-through rate (CTR) prediction is a crucial area of research in online advertising. While binary cross entropy (BCE) has been widely used as the optimization objective for treating CTR prediction as a binary classification problem, recent advancements have shown that combining BCE loss with an auxiliary ranking loss can significantly improve performance. However, the full effectiveness of this combination loss is not yet fully understood. In this paper, we uncover a new challenge associated with the BCE loss in scenarios where positive feedback is sparse: the issue of gradient vanishing for negative samples. We introduce a novel perspective on the effectiveness of the auxiliary ranking loss in CTR prediction: it generates larger gradients on negative samples, thereby mitigating the optimization difficulties when using the BCE loss only and resulting in improved classification ability. To validate our perspective, we conduct theoretical analysis and extensive empirical evaluations on public datasets. Additionally, we successfully integrate the ranking loss into Tencent's online advertising system, achieving notable lifts of 0.70% and 1.26% in Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) for two main scenarios. The advent of Industry 4.0 has precipitated the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods within industrial contexts, aiming to realize intelligent manufacturing, operation as well as maintenance, also known as industrial intelligence. However, intricate industrial milieus, particularly those relating to energy exploration and production, frequently encompass data characterized by long-tailed class distribution, sample imbalance, and domain shift. These attributes pose noteworthy challenges to data-centric Deep Learning (DL) techniques, crucial for the realization of industrial intelligence. The present study centers on the intricate and distinctive industrial scenarios of Nuclear Power Generation (NPG), meticulously scrutinizing the application of DL techniques under the constraints of finite data samples. Initially, the paper expounds on potential employment scenarios for AI across the full life-cycle of NPG. Subsequently, we delve into an evaluative exposition of DL's advancement, grounded in the finite sample perspective. This encompasses aspects such as small-sample learning, few-shot learning, zero-shot learning, and open-set recognition, also referring to the unique data characteristics of NPG. The paper then proceeds to present two specific case studies. The first revolves around the automatic recognition of zirconium alloy metallography, while the second pertains to open-set recognition for signal diagnosis of machinery sensors. These cases, spanning the entirety of NPG's life-cycle, are accompanied by constructive outcomes and insightful deliberations. By exploring and applying DL methodologies within the constraints of finite sample availability, this paper not only furnishes a robust technical foundation but also introduces a fresh perspective toward the secure and efficient advancement and exploitation of this advanced energy source.

Classical federated learning (FL) enables training machine learning models without sharing data for privacy preservation, but heterogeneous data characteristic degrades the performance of the localized model. Personalized FL (PFL) addresses this by synthesizing personalized models from a global model via training on local data. Such a global model may overlook the specific information that the clients have been sampled. In this paper, we propose a novel scheme to inject personalized prior knowledge into the global model in each client, which attempts to mitigate the introduced incomplete information problem in PFL. At the heart of our proposed approach is a framework, the PFL with Bregman Divergence (pFedBreD), decoupling the personalized prior from the local objective function regularized by Bregman divergence for greater adaptability in personalized scenarios. We also relax the mirror descent (RMD) to extract the prior explicitly to provide optional strategies. Additionally, our pFedBreD is backed up by a convergence analysis. Sufficient experiments demonstrate that our method reaches the state-of-the-art performances on 5 datasets and outperforms other methods by up to 3.5% across 8 benchmarks. In the field of medical CT image processing, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have been the dominant technique.Encoder-decoder CNNs utilise locality for efficiency, but they cannot simulate distant pixel interactions properly.Recent research indicates that self-attention or transformer layers can be stacked to efficiently learn long-range dependencies.By constructing and processing picture patches as embeddings, transformers have been applied to computer vision applications. However, transformer-based architectures lack global semantic information interaction and require a large-scale training dataset, making it challenging to train with small data samples. In order to solve these challenges, we present a hierarchical contextattention transformer network (MHITNet) that combines the multi-scale, transformer, and hierarchical context extraction modules in skip-connections. The multi-scale module captures deeper CT semantic information, enabling transformers to encode feature maps of tokenized picture patches from various CNN stages as input attention sequences more effectively. The hierarchical context attention module augments global data and reweights pixels to capture semantic context.Extensive trials on three datasets show that the proposed MHITNet beats current best practises

Many problems in science and engineering can be represented by a set of partial differential equations (PDEs) through mathematical modeling. Mechanism-based computation following PDEs has long been an essential paradigm for studying topics such as computational fluid dynamics, multiphysics simulation, molecular dynamics, or even dynamical systems. It is a vibrant multi-disciplinary field of increasing importance and with extraordinary potential. At the same time, solving PDEs efficiently has been a long-standing challenge. Generally, except for a few differential equations for which analytical solutions are directly available, many more equations must rely on numerical approaches such as the finite difference method, finite element method, finite volume method, and boundary element method to be solved approximately. These numerical methods usually divide a continuous problem domain into discrete points and then concentrate on solving the system at each of those points. Though the effectiveness of these traditional numerical methods, the vast number of iterative operations accompanying each step forward significantly reduces the efficiency. Recently, another equally important paradigm, data-based computation represented by deep learning, has emerged as an effective means of solving PDEs. Surprisingly, a comprehensive review for this interesting subfield is still lacking. This survey aims to categorize and review the current progress on Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) for PDEs. We discuss the literature published in this subfield over the past decades and present them in a common taxonomy, followed by an overview and classification of applications of these related methods in scientific research and engineering scenarios. The origin, developing history, character, sort, as well as the future trends in each potential direction of this subfield are also introduced.

Multi-view graph clustering (MGC) methods are increasingly being studied due to the explosion of multi-view data with graph structural information. The critical point of MGC is to better utilize view-specific and view-common information in features and graphs of multiple views. However, existing works have an inherent limitation that they are unable to concurrently utilize the consensus graph information across multiple graphs and the view-specific feature information. To address this issue, we propose Variational Graph Generator for Multi-View Graph Clustering (VGMGC). Specifically, a novel variational graph generator is proposed to extract common information among multiple graphs. This generator infers a reliable variational consensus graph based on a priori assumption over multiple graphs. Then a simple yet effective graph encoder in conjunction with the multi-view clustering objective is presented to learn the desired graph embeddings for clustering, which embeds the inferred view-common graph and view-specific graphs together with features. Finally, theoretical results illustrate the rationality of the VGMGC by analyzing the uncertainty of the inferred consensus graph with the information bottleneck principle.Extensive experiments demonstrate the superior performance of our VGMGC over SOTAs. A panoply of multi-view clustering algorithms has been developed to deal with prevalent multi-view data. Among them, spectral clustering-based methods have drawn much attention and demonstrated promising results recently. Despite progress, there are still two fundamental questions that stay unanswered to date. First, how to fuse different views into one graph. More often than not, the similarities between samples may be manifested differently by different views. Many existing algorithms either simply take the average of multiple views or just learn a common graph. These simple approaches fail to consider the flexible local manifold structures of all views. Hence, the rich heterogeneous information is not fully exploited. Second, how to learn the explicit cluster structure. Most existing methods don't pay attention to the quality of the graphs and perform graph learning and spectral clustering separately. Those unreliable graphs might lead to suboptimal clustering results. To fill these gaps, in this paper, we propose a novel multi-view spectral clustering model which performs graph fusion and spectral clustering simultaneously. The fusion graph approximates the original graph of each individual view but maintains an explicit cluster structure. Multi-view clustering is an important yet challenging task due to the difficulty of integrating the information from multiple representations. Most existing multi-view clustering methods explore the heterogeneous information in the space where the data points lie. Such common practice may cause significant information loss because of unavoidable noise or inconsistency among views. Since different views admit the same cluster structure, the natural space should be all partitions. Orthogonal to existing techniques, in this paper, we propose to leverage the multi-view information by fusing partitions. Specifically, we align each partition to form a consensus cluster indicator matrix through a distinct rotation matrix. Moreover, a weight is assigned for each view to account for the clustering capacity differences of views. Finally, the basic partitions, weights, and consensus clustering are jointly learned in a unified framework.
