3. Serological and genetic analysis of a Bel subtype caused by a novel 29insG mutation: a case report

Abstract

Objective To investigate the serological characteristics and molecular mechanism of a case of Bel subtype. Methods Serological method was used to analyze the ABO blood group of the patient, absorption and elution test was used to detect the weak antigen on red blood cells, and molecular biology method was used to analyze the ABO gene sequence of the patient. Results The forward typing of the patient was O type, but the reverse typing was B type. The weak B antigen was confirmed by absorption and elution method. This mutation was not found in ISBT and related literature, and was discovered for the first time. The patient's blood type was Bel (29insertG)/O.01.01 based on the sequence of exon 3-7. Conclusion In the case of ABO blood group incompatibility, the combination of serological and molecular biological detection techniques can improve the accuracy and reliability of ABO blood group identification.

25. A novel energy-conserving scheme for eight-dimensional systems

Abstract

We design a novel, exactly energy-conserving implicit non-symplectic integration method for an eight-dimensional Hamiltonian system with four degrees of freedom. In our algorithm, each partial derivative of the Hamiltonian with respect to one of phase-space variables is discretized by the average of eight Hamiltonian difference terms. Such a discretization form is a second-order approximation to the Hamiltonian gradient. It is shown numerically via simulations of an FPU-$\beta$ system and a post-Newtonian conservative system of compact binaries with one body spinning that the newly proposed method has extremely good energy-conserving performance, compared to the Runge-Kutta, implicit midpoint symplectic method and extended phase-space explicit symplectic-like integrators. The new method is advantageous over very long times and for large time steps compared to state-of-the-art Runge-Kutta method in the accuracy of numerical solutions. Although such an energy-conserving integrator exhibits a higher computational cost than any one of the other three algorithms, the superior results justify its use for satisfying some specific purposes on the preservation of energies in numerical simulations with much longer times, e.g. obtaining a high enough accuracy of the semimajor axis in a Keplerian problem in the Solar System or accurately grasping the frequency of a gravitational wave from a circular orbit in a post-Newtonian system of compact binaries. 40. Effects of Sizing Agents and Resin-Formulated Matrices with Varying Stiffness–Toughness Ratios on the Properties of Carbon Fiber Epoxy Resin Composites.

Abstract

Interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) and compressive strength are two of the most critical properties of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP). In this report, three types of epoxy resins—4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane epoxy resin (AG-80), bisphenol A epoxy resin (E-1NT), and novolac epoxy (EPN)—were studied. E-1NT is characterized by low viscosity and low cost but exhibits poor mechanical properties, while AG-80 offers better wetting with carbon fiber. These two epoxy resins were mixed in various mass ratios. The study revealed that as the AG-80 content increased, the ILSS of the composite also increased, reaching a maximum of 94.04 MPa when the AG-80 content reached 60%. Beyond this point, further increases in AG-80 did not enhance the ILSS. Conversely, the compressive strength initially increased but then declined sharply as the AG-80 ratio increased. The maximum compressive strength was recorded at 748.52 MPa when the AG-80 content reached 60%, which was 21% higher than pure AG-80 and 32% higher than pure E-1NT. Additionally, the study examined three different types of ionic sizing agents and four different resin matrices (E-1NT/DDS, AG-80/DDS, AG-80/E-1NT/DDS, EPN/DDS). Among them, the 60% AG-80/40% E-1NT/DDS/CF formulation demonstrated the best balance in both ILSS and compressive strength. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
