Carbon compositing could stabilize the Cu$_x$S structure and repress capacity fading during the electrochemical cycling, but the corresponding Li$^+$ storage mechanism and stabilization effect should be further clarified. In this study, nanoscale Cu$_2$S was synthesized by CuS co-precipitation and thermal reduction with polyelectrolytes. High-temperature synchrotron radiation diffraction was used to monitor the thermal reduction process. During the first cycle, the conversion mechanism upon lithium storage in the Cu2S/carbon was elucidated by operando synchrotron radiation diffraction and in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy. The N-doped carbon-composited Cu$_2$S (Cu$_2$S/C) exhibits an initial discharge capacity of 425 mAh g$^{���1}$ at 0.1 A g$^{���1}$, with a higher, long-term capacity of 523 mAh g$^{���1}$ at 0.1 A g$^{���1}$ after 200 cycles; in contrast, the bare CuS electrode exhibits 123 mAh g$^{���1}$ after 200 cycles. It has been reported as aggressive pathogen causing pleural empyema. But the role of S. constellatus in empyema has not been taken seriously. There are no studies about clinical characteristics of empyema caused by S. constellatus domestically and abroad. This study aimed to explore the clinical features and management of empyema caused by S. constellatus.Methods: A retrospective review of 9 patients diagnosed with empyema caused by S. constellatus in a hospital between January 2010 and August 2021 was performed.Results: S. constellatus empyema were mostly seen in old males (66.7%) with comorbid diseases. The high-risk factors include diabetes mellitus, oral infection, and oral surgery. All were unilateral encapsulated empyema (right-side, 55.6%), diagnosed with pneumonia (bilateral pneumonia, 88.9%; ipsilateral lung abscess, 44.4%). 33.3% of patients had S. constellatus and anaerobes co-isolated. S. constellatus were sensitive to penicillin G, linezolid, levofloxacin, vancomycin, ceftriaxone, and chloramphenicol, resistant to erythromycin, tetracycline, and clindamycin. 33.3% of the patients needed ventilator support. Abstract

The slurry phase hydrocracking was carried out in a 150 kg/d pilot plant with a change of reaction temperature and different feedstocks including vacuum residue (VR), thermal cracking residue (TCR), 58% VR + 42% DOA (VRD) and 32% VR + 27% DOA + 41% TCR (VRDT). The results demonstrated that the conversions of residue and asphaltene, and hydrogen consumption had a linear relationship with the increment of reaction temperature. The TCR, VRD and VRDT with high content of asphaltene had the characteristic of higher asphaltene conversion and coke yield, but the coke yield was still low, and less than 1.3%. In addition, the removal rate of sulfur was much higher than that of nitrogen, while that of nickel and vanadium reach above 77 and 88%, respectively. The light liquid fraction product could further transform into high value-added chemical materials or clean transport fuel, and the heavy liquid fraction product could utilized as a very good raw material for high quality products as needle coke and carbon-based materials. Abstract

A pilot-scale methane dehydroaromatization–H2 regeneration fluidized bed system (MDARS) was developed. In the MDARS, the catalyst circulation between a fluidized bed reactor and a fluidized bed regenerator with the help of a catalyst feeder allowed methane dehydroaromatization (MDA) and H2 regeneration to be carried out simultaneously, which is good for maintaining a stable MDA catalytic activity. A fixed bed reactor (FB) and a single fluidized bed reactor (SFB) were also used for a comparative study. The experimental results showed that the catalytic activity in the MDARS was more stable than that in the FB and SFB reactors. The effects of some parameters of MDARS on the CH4 conversion and product selectivity were investigated. To verify the feasibility and reliability of the MDARS, an eight-hour long-term test was carried out, which demonstrated that the operation of the MDARS was stable and that the catalytic activity remained stable throughout the entire experimental period.

Abstract

Scrap tires were pyrolyzed in a continuously stirred batch reactor in the presence and absence of catalysts. The maximum yield of derived oil was up to 55.65 wt% at the optimum temperature, 500 °C. The catalytic pyrolysis was performed using 1.0 wt% (on a scrap tire weight basis) of catalysts based on ZSM-5, USY, β, SAPO-11, and ZSM-22. The oil products were characterized using simulation distillation, elemental analysis, and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The results show that using a catalyst can increase the conversion of scrap tires to gas and decrease char by-products; the yield of derived oil remains unchanged or a little lower. The oils derived from catalytic pyrolysis had H/C ratios of 1.55–1.65 and contained approximately 70–75 wt% light oil, 0.3–0.58 wt% S and 0.78–1.0 wt% N. Catalysts with high acid strengths and appropriate pore sizes, such as ZSM-5, USY, β, and SAPO-11, increased the amount of single-ring aromatics in the light-middle-fraction oil to 45 wt%. The derived oil can therefore be used as a petrochemical feedstock for producing high-value-added chemical products or fuel oil.

Abstract

Objectives: Diesel engine exhaust (DEE) is a ubiquitous environmental pollutant and is carcinogenic to humans. To seek early and sensitive biomarkers for prediction of adverse health effects, we analysed the components of DEE particles, and examined the genetic and oxidative damages in DEE-exposed workers.Methods: 101 male diesel engine testing workers who were constantly exposed to DEE and 106 matched controls were enrolled in the present study. The components of DEE were analysed, including fine particulate matter (PM2.5), element carbon (EC), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Postshift urine samples were collected and analysed for 1-hydroxypyrene (1-OHP), an internal exposure marker for DEE. Levels of DNA strand breaks and oxidised purines, defined as formamidopyrimidine-DNA glycosylase (FPG) sites in leucocytes, were measured by medium throughput Comet assay. Urinary 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) was also used to determine the level of oxidative stress.Results: We found higher levels of PM2.5, EC, NO2, SO2 and PAHs in the diesel engine testing workshop and significantly higher urinary 1-OHP concentrations in exposed subjects (p<0.001). Compared with controls, the levels of parameters in normal Comet and FPG-Comet assay were all significantly higher in DEE-exposed workers (p<0.001), and in a dose-dependent and time-dependent manner. There were no significant differences between DEE-exposed workers and controls in regard to leucocyte FPG sensitive sites and urinary 8-OHdG levels.Conclusions: These findings suggest that DEE exposure mainly induces DNA damage, which might be used as an early biomarker for risk assessment of DEE exposure.
