Aim: The mechanistic role of inhibitor of DNA binding or differentiation (ID) family in ovarian cancer (OC) has remained unclear. Materials & methods: We used the Oncomine, GEPIA, Kaplan–Meier Plotter, cBioPortal, SurvExpress, PROGgene V2, TIMER, and FunRich to evaluate the prognostic value of IDs in patients with OC. Results: the mRNA transcripts of all IDs were markedly downregulated in OC compared with normal tissue. The prognostic value of IDs was also explored within the subtypes, pathological stages, clinical stages and TP53 mutational status. The group with low-risk IDs showed relatively good overall survival (OS) compared with the high-risk group. Conclusion: ID1/3/4 may be exploited as promising prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets in OC patients.

Wavefield extrapolation is critical in reverse time migration (RTM). The finite difference method is primarily used to achieve wavefield extrapolation in case of the RTM imaging of tunnels. However, complex tunnel models, including those for karsts and fault fracture zones, are constructed using regular grids with straight curves, which can cause numerical dispersion and reduce the imaging accuracy. In this study, wavefield extrapolation was conducted for tunnel RTM using the finite element method, wherein an unstructured mesh was considered to be the body-fitted partition in a complex model. Further, a Poynting vector calculation equation suitable for the unstructured mesh considered in the finite element method was established to suppress the interference owing to low-frequency noise. The tunnel space was considered during wavefield extrapolation to suppress the mirror artifacts based on the flexibility of mesh generation. Finally, the influence of the survey layouts (one and two sidewalls) on the tunnel imaging results was investigated. The RTM results obtained for a simple tunnel model with an inclined interface demonstrate that the method based on unstructured meshes can effectively suppress the low-frequency noise and mirror artifacts, obtaining clear imaging results. Furthermore, the two-sidewall tunnel survey layout can be used to accurately obtain the real position of the inclined interface ahead of the tunnel face. The complex tunnel numerical modeling and actual data migration results denote the effectiveness of the finite element method in which an unstructured mesh is used.

E proteins are transcriptional regulators that regulate many developmental processes in animals and lymphocytosis and leukemia in Homo sapiens. In particular, E2A, a member of the E protein family, plays a major role in the transcriptional regulatory network that promotes the differentiation and development of B and T lymphocytes. E2A-mediated transcriptional regulation usually requires the formation of E2A dimers, which then bind to coregulators. In this review, we summarize the mechanisms by which E2A participates in transcriptional regulation from a structural perspective. More specifically, the C-terminal helix-loop-helix (HLH) region of the basic HLH (bHLH) domain first dimerizes, and then the activation domains of E2A bind to different coactivators or corepressors in different cell contexts, resulting in histone acetylation or deacetylation, respectively. Then, the N-terminal basic region (b) of the bHLH domain binds to or dissociates from a specific DNA motif (E-box sequence). Last, trans-activation or trans-repression occurs. We also summarize the properties of these E2A domains and their interactions with the domains of other proteins. The feasibility of developing drugs based on these domains is discussed.

RhoA, a small GTPase, is involved in a wide array of cellular functions in the central nervous system, such as cell motility, cytoskeleton rearrangement, transcriptional regulation, phagocytosis and cell growth. It is not known how spinal cord injury (SCI) affects the expression of RhoA in different nerve cells. In the present study, we investigated the changes of RhoA expression in remote areas of the injury at the 3rd, 7th and 30th day after SCI, which was established by T10 contusion method. Moreover, we examine its expression profile in neurons, astrocytes and microglia. RhoA was found to be weakly expressed in these nerve cells in normal spinal cord. Western blotting showed that, after SCI, the total RhoA expression was up-regulated, and the RhoA expression was increased and peaked at the 7th day. Double immunostaining revealed specific and temporal expression patterns of RhoA in different nerve cells. The expression of RhoA in neurons started to increase at day 3, peaked at day 7 and then decreased slightly at day 30. Expression of RhoA in astrocytes increased moderately after SCI and peaked at day 7. There was no obvious change in RhoA expression in microglia after SCI in remote areas. This study demonstrated that, after SCI, RhoA expression exhibited different patterns with different nerve cells of spinal cord. RhoA expression patterns also changed with time after SCI, and among different nerve cells in the injured spinal cord. These findings can help us better understand the roles of RhoA in SCI.

In this study, the well logging response of CBM reservoir have been analyzed, and discussing the factors that affect the gas content of coal seam. The well logging technology has been employed in connection with log data and gas content. Take one oilfield’s well logging data for example, statistical analysis method and Langmuir equation method are selected to calculate the gas content of one coal seam, the two calculated results are basically the same, the highest value are about 26 cm3/g, is a high-yield coal seam.

BACKGROUND The association between Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has been shown in many observational studies, but these conclusions remain controversial. Hence, we performed a meta-analysis to elucidate the association. METHODS A comprehensive search was conducted on relevant studies published from inception to December 31, 2018, in PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science databases. Odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were pooled by random-effect model, generic inverse variance method. Subgroup and sensitivity analyses were also done. Publication bias was estimated by the funnel plot, Begg's test, and Egger's test. RESULTS Fifteen studies (eleven cross-sectional, two case-control, and two cohort studies) were included in this meta-analysis.
