Porous carbon with a high surface area and controllable pore size is needed for energy storage. It is still a significant challenge to produce porous carbon in an economical way. Nitrogen-doped porous carbon (N-PC) was prepared through carbonization of a mixture of waste PET-derived metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and ammonium. The obtained N-PC exhibits a large surface area and controlled pore size. When utilized as an electrode material for supercapacitors, the N-PC exhibits a specific capacitance of 224 F g−1, significantly surpassing that of commercial activated carbon (AC), which has a capacitance of 111 F g−1. In the subsequent capacitive deionization (CDI) tests, the N-PC demonstrated a maximum salt adsorption capacity of 19.9 mg g−1 at 1.2 V in a NaCl electrolyte (0.5 g L−1), and the salt adsorption capacity increased to 24.7 mg g−1 at 1.4 V. The N-PC electrode also exhibited superior regeneration. The present work not only presents a potential approach to develop cost-effective electrodes for seawater purification but also paves the way for recycling of waste plastics into high value-added products. With continuous improvements in the social economy and living standards of individuals, the vibration comfort of building structures has gradually been emphasized by academic and engineering communities, such as vehicle-induced vibrations in buildings near traffic, human-induced vibrations in large-span structures, wind-induced vibrations in super-high-rise buildings, and machinery-induced structural vibrations. Comfort-based structural analysis is distinct from traditional safety-based structural analysis, and its theoretical systems and unified guidelines have not yet been established. This paper reviews recent research on structural vibration comfort, including major load categories and their impacts, comfort-based structural analysis, evaluation methods, and vibration-mitigation measures. The objective is to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality, controlling CO2 emissions is a primary problem to be solved in the current environmental protection field. Eliminating the environmental pollution of dyes in industrial wastewater is also an urgent problem to be solved in the field of environmental protection. The adsorption technique is an effective way to deal with these two issues. Developing high-efficiency adsorbents is an essential work in the adsorption field. In this work, a simple carbonization method has been developed to prepare porous carbon. The morphology and structure of the prepared porous carbon were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and surface area measurement. By studying the influence of preparation conditions on the structure and properties of the prepared carbon materials, it was found that the carbon materials prepared at 900 ℃ (PCMCA-900) exhibited a high specific surface area of 1476 m2 g−1 and a high total pore volume of 0.951 cm3 g−1. The PCMCA-900 showed the highest CO2 uptake of 7.67 mmol g−1 at 0 ºC and the adsorption capacity of PCMCA-900 decreased by less than 5% after 10 times recycling. Moreover, when PCMCA-900 was used as an adsorbent to remove Congo red in water, an adsorption capacity of 652.3 mg g−1 was achieved. Therefore, potassium citrate-derived porous carbon is a desirable candidate for excellent CO2 adsorption and Congo red in industrial wastewater. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Facing the ever-increasing production of municipal plastics, great efforts have been made to recycle plastic waste into high-value-added products. As the main components of plastic wastes, polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), and polystyrene (PS) are uncharred polymers that are difficult to carbonize under normal conditions. To address this issue, transition-metal catalysts (Co3O4) were introduced to carbonize plastic waste with high carbon yields. Herein, mixed-waste plastics (PP/PE/PS) were carbonized into yolk–shell-structured (YSS) Co3O4@C nanomaterials with a high yield of 49 wt %. A high capacity of 1066 mAh g–1 was achieved at 0.1 A g–1 after 100 cycles in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Moreover, galvanostatic intermittent titration technique results estimated that the YSS Co3O4@C possessed a higher Li+ diffusion coefficient, ensuring improved cycling stability and rate performance. The present strategy not only provides a potential approach for recycling waste plastics into high-value carbon materials but also shows the possibility for the mass production of high-performance nanosized anode materials for LIBs in a commercial manner.
