Current AI-assisted skin image diagnosis has achieved dermatologist-level performance in classifying skin cancer, driven by rapid advancements in deep learning architectures. However, unlike traditional vision tasks, skin images in general present unique challenges due to the limited availability of well-annotated datasets, complex variations in conditions, and the necessity for detailed interpretations to ensure patient safety. Previous segmentation methods have sought to reduce image noise and enhance diagnostic performance, but these techniques require fine-grained, pixel-level ground truth masks for training. In contrast, with the rise of foundation models, the Segment Anything Model (SAM) has been introduced to facilitate promptable segmentation, enabling the automation of the segmentation process with simple yet effective prompts. Efforts applying SAM predominantly focus on dermatoscopy images, which present more easily identifiable lesion boundaries than clinical photos taken with smartphones. This limitation constrains the practicality of these approaches to real-world applications. To overcome the challenges posed by noisy clinical photos acquired via non-standardized protocols and to improve diagnostic accessibility, we propose a novel Cross-Attentive Fusion framework for interpretable skin lesion diagnosis. Our method leverages SAM to generate visual concepts for skin diseases using prompts, integrating local visual concepts with global image features to enhance model performance. Extensive evaluation on two skin disease datasets demonstrates our proposed method's effectiveness on lesion diagnosis and interpretability.

Multi-modal models have gained significant attention due to their powerful capabilities. These models effectively align embeddings across diverse data modalities, showcasing superior performance in downstream tasks compared to their unimodal counterparts. Recent study showed that the attacker can manipulate an image or audio file by altering it in such a way that its embedding matches that of an attacker-chosen targeted input, thereby deceiving downstream models. However, this method often underperforms due to inherent disparities in data from different modalities. In this paper, we introduce CrossFire, an innovative approach to attack multi-modal models. CrossFire begins by transforming the targeted input chosen by the attacker into a format that matches the modality of the original image or audio file. We then formulate our attack as an optimization problem, aiming to minimize the angular deviation between the embeddings of the transformed input and the modified image or audio file. Solving this problem determines the perturbations to be added to the original media. Our extensive experiments on six real-world benchmark datasets reveal that CrossFire can significantly manipulate downstream tasks, surpassing existing attacks. We employ the nuclear lattice effective field theory (NLEFT), an efficient tool for nuclear ab initio calculations, to solve the asymmetric multi-hadron systems. We take the $DD^*K$ three-body system as an illustration to demonstrate the capability of the method. Here the two-body chiral interactions between $D$, $D^*$ and $K$ are regulated with a soft lattice regulator and calibrated with the binding energies of the $T_{cc}^+$, $D^{*}_{s0}(2317)$ and $D_{s1}(2460)$ molecular states. We then calculate the three-body binding energy using the NLEFT and analyze the systematic uncertainties due to the finite volume effects, the sliding cutoff and the leading-order three-body forces. Even when the three-body interaction is repulsive (even as large as the infinite repulsive interaction), the three-body system has a bound state unambiguously with binding energy no larger than the $D_{s1}(2460)D$ threshold. To check the renormalization group invariance of our framework, we extract the first excited state. We find that when the ground state is fixed, the first excited states with various cutoffs coincide with each other when the cubic size goes larger. In addition, the standard angular momentum and parity projection technique is implemented for the quantum numbers of the ground and excited states. We find that both of them are S-wave states with quantum number $J^{P}=1^-$. Pictor A is a $\gamma$-ray emitting radio galaxy and has a bright hotspot called WHS, located $\sim$4 arcmin away from the nucleus. In this letter, we present an analysis of its 16-year Fermi-LAT data and report the first Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) observation for this source. Our analysis of the Fermi-LAT observations reveals evidence of two components in the average $\gamma$-ray spectrum of Pictor A, exhibiting a statistically significant hardening from $\Gamma^1_{\gamma}=3.25\pm0.15$ to $\Gamma^2_{\gamma}=1.81\pm0.07$ at a break energy of $2.46\pm0.09$ GeV. The evident variability of $\gamma$-rays is observed in Pictor A. Interestingly, the variability is dominated by the component below the break energy, and the component above the break energy shows no variability. Furthermore, we find that a power-law function can adequately fit the spectrum during high-flux states, whereas a broken power-law is still required to explain the spectrum during low-flux state. We suggest that the low-energy component originates from the nucleus, while the high-energy component primarily stems from WHS. The broadband spectral energy distributions of both nucleus and WHS can be well represented by a simple leptonic model, with both $\gamma$-ray components attributed to the synchrotron-self-Compton (SSC) process. The analysis of IXPE data on the nucleus yields an upper limit to the polarization degree $\Pi_{\rm X}<$8.9\% in the 2--8 keV band, agreeing with its X-ray emission originating from SSC. In this paper, we prove that a local weak solution to the $d$-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations ($d \geq 2$) can be constructed by taking the hydrodynamic limit of a velocity-discretized Boltzmann equation with a simplified BGK collision operator. Moreover, in the case when the dimension is $d=2,3$, we characterize the combinations of finitely many particle velocities and probabilities that lead to the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in the hydrodynamic limit. By utilizing the AdS/CFT correspondence, we investigate the holographic image of an AdS black hole in Einstein-power-Yang-Mills gravity. The AdS boundary hosts a Gaussian oscillation source, which induces a lensed response on the opposite side of the boundary during propagation through bulk spacetime. The optical system assists observers at the north pole to continuously capture holographic images that show an axisymmetric bright ring known as the Einstein ring. As the observation position shifted, the bright ring gradually transformed into a luminous arc and eventually transitioned into a light point. Simultaneously, we examine the impact of variations in relevant physical quantity on the ring, and present the corresponding brightness curve. The results indicate that as the temperature $T$ and nonlinear Yang Mills charge parameter $q$ increase, the ring radius also increases, while an increase in the chemical potential $u$ leads to a decrease. However, the peak brightness curve of the ring invariably decreases as the values of $T$, $u$, and $q$ increase, albeit to varying degrees. We theoretically investigate the antivortex stabilized by anisotropic Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI) in nanodisks. It is remarkably found that the antivortex remains stable even when the nanodisk radius is reduced to 15 nm, owing to the short-range nature of the DMI. We also investigate the antivortex dynamics under a static in-plane magnetic field, which shows that the displacement of the antivortex core depends on its vorticity and helicity, providing a fundamental basic for distinguishing different vortex types. Additionally, spin-polarized currents can trigger a self-sustained gyration of the antivortex at low current densities, while inducing polarity switching at high current densities. Deep learning-based image restoration methods generally struggle with faithfully preserving the structures of the original image. In this work, we propose a novel Residual-Conditioned Optimal Transport (RCOT) approach, which models image restoration as an optimal transport (OT) problem for both unpaired and paired settings, introducing the transport residual as a unique degradation-specific cue for both the transport cost and the transport map. Specifically, we first formalize a Fourier residual-guided OT objective by incorporating the degradation-specific information of the residual into the transport cost. We further design the transport map as a two-pass RCOT map that comprises a base model and a refinement process, in which the transport residual is computed by the base model in the first pass and then encoded as a degradation-specific embedding to condition the second-pass restoration. By duality, the RCOT problem is transformed into a minimax optimization problem, which can be solved by adversarially training neural networks. Extensive experiments on multiple restoration tasks show that RCOT achieves competitive performance in terms of both distortion measures and perceptual quality, restoring images with more faithful structures as compared with state-of-the-art methods., Comment: ICML 2024

NGC 4278, a Low-luminosity active galactic nucleus (AGN), is generally classified as a low-ionization nuclear emission line region (LINER). Recently, it has been reported to be associated with a very high energy $\gamma$-ray source 1LHAASO J1219+2915 in the first Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory source catalog. However, no associated counterpart has been detected by analyzing the data collected by the Large Area Telescope on board the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope. By analyzing its X-ray observation data from Swift-XRT, we find NGC 4278 is in a high-flux state on MJD 59546, with the X-ray flux more than one order of magnitude higher than that observed $\sim$ 11.7 year earlier by Chandra. Interestingly, this Swift-XRT observation was conducted during the active phase of the $\gamma$-ray source 1LHAASO J1219+2915. We propose that the detection of VHE $\gamma$-rays from NGC 4278 may be attributed to the presence of an active nucleus in its center. To reproduce the spectral energy distribution (SED) of NGC 4278, we employ a one-zone leptonic model, typically used for fitting broadband SEDs of BL Lacs, and find that a smaller magnetic field strength is required than that of typical TeV BL Lacs. Furthermore, NGC 4278 exhibits significantly lower luminosity in both radio and TeV bands when compared with typical TeV BL Lacs. In the radio-luminosity vs. Eddington-ratio plane, NGC 4278 shows greater similarity to Seyfert galaxies and LINERs rather than BL Lacs; however, it still roughly follows the extension towards lower luminosity seen in BL Lacs., Comment: 2 Comments, 14 Pages, 8 Figures, 2 Tables, Accepted for Publication in ApJ

We study the Einstein images of a charged Rastall AdS black hole (BH) within the fabric of AdS/CFT correspondence. Considering the holographic setup, we analyze the amplitude of the total response function for various values of model parameters. With an increase in parameter $\lambda$ and temperature $T$, the amplitude of the response function is decreased, while it is increased with the increase of the electric charge $e$ and chemical potential $\mu$. The influence of frequency $\omega$ also plays an important role in the bulk field, as it is found that the decreasing $\omega$ leads to an increase in the periods of the waves, which means that the amplitude of the response function also depends on the wave source. The relation between $T$ to the inverse of the horizon $r_{h}$ for the parameter $\lambda$ is interpreted under fixed values of other involved parameters. These, in turn, affect the behavior of the response function and the Einstein ring, which may be used to differentiate the present work from previous studies. Via a special optical system, we construct the holographic images of the BH in bulk. The obtained results show that the Einstein ring always appears with concentric stripes at the position of the north pole, and this ring transforms into the luminosity-deformed ring or bright light spot when the distant observer lies away from the north pole. Moreover, from the brightness profiles, it is observed that as $\lambda$ grows, the shadow radius is significantly decreased, while the brightness of the ring is negligibly changed. We further investigate the influence of $T$ and $\mu$ on the ring radius. These results reveal that the increasing values of $T$ lead to an increase in the shadow radius and decrease as the values of $\mu$ grow. Mrk 501 is a prototypical high-synchrotron-peaked blazar (HBL) and serves as one of the primary targets for the {\it Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer} ({\it IXPE}). In this study, we report X-ray polarization measurements of Mrk 501 based on six {\it IXPE} observations. The detection of X-ray polarization at a confidence level exceeding 99\% is achieved in four out of the six observations conducted across the entire energy range (2--8 keV) of {\it IXPE}. The maximum polarization degree ($\Pi_{\rm X}$) is measured to be $15.8\%\pm2.8\%$, accompanied by a polarization angle ($\psi_{\rm X}$) of $98.0\deg\pm5.1\deg$ at a confidence level of $5.6 \sigma$. During the remaining two observations, only an upper limit of $\Pi_{\rm X}<$12\% could be derived at the 99\% confidence level. No temporal variability in polarization is observed throughout all six {\it IXPE} observations for Mrk 501. A discernible trend of energy-dependent variation in the polarization degree is detected in optical spectropolarimetry; however, no analogous indication is observed in $\Pi_{\rm X}$. The chromatic behavior of $\Pi$ and the consistent values of $\psi$ across different frequencies from X-rays to radio waves, along with the agreement between $\psi$ and jet position angle, strongly support the interpretation of the energy-stratified model with shock-accelerated particles in the jet of Mrk 501. We report on the detection of extended $\gamma$-ray emission from lobes in the radio galaxy NGC 6251 using observation data of Fermi Large Area Telescope (Fermi-LAT). The maximum likelihood analysis results show that a radio morphology template provides a better fit than a point-like source description for the observational data at a confidence level of 8.1$\sigma$, and the contribution of lobes accounts for more than 50\% of the total $\gamma$-ray flux. Furthermore, the $\gamma$-ray energy spectra show a significant disparity in shape between the core and lobe regions, with a curved log-parabola shape observed in core region and a power-law form observed in lobes. Neither the core region nor the northwest lobe displays the significant flux variations in the long-term $\gamma$-ray light curves. The broadband spectral energy distributions of both core region and northwest lobe can be will explained with a single-zone leptonic model. In this paper, we investigate multidimensional first-order quasi-linear systems and find necessary conditions for them to admit Hamiltonian formulation. The insufficiency of the conditions is related to the Poisson cohomology of the admissible Hamiltonian operators. We present in detail the examples of two-dimensional, two-components systems of hydrodynamic type and of a real reduction of the 3-waves system.

With the help of AdS/CFT correspondence, the Einstein ring of a charged black hole in conformal gravity has been studied. Imposing an oscillating Gauss source on one side of the AdS boundary which propagates in the bulk, we derive the response function on the other side of the boundary. With the proposed wave optics system, we observe the Einstein ring as expect. The results reveal that when the observer locates at the north pole, the Einstein ring and surrounding concentric stripes always exist. While the observer departs away from the north pole, the ring becomes into a luminosity-deformed ring or light spot. We also investigate the effect of temperature $T$, chemical potential $u$ and gravity-related parameters $c_0$ on the ring radius. We find the ring radius increases with the decrease of the temperature, increase of the chemical potential, and increase of the gravity-related parameters respectively. The high-energy-peaked BL Lacertae objects (HBLs) are the main targets of the Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) for investigating the mechanisms of radiation and particle acceleration in jets. In this paper, we report the first IXPE observations of two HBLs, 1ES 1959+650 and PKS 2155--304. Both sources exhibit X-ray polarization with a confidence level exceeding 99\%, as well as significant variability in polarization across different time intervals and energy ranges. Notably, PKS 2155--304 demonstrates the highest X-ray polarization among all blazars detected by IXPE within its entire energy band (2--8 keV), with a polarization degree of $\Pi_{\rm X}=21.9\%\pm1.9\%$ (MDP$_{99}\sim$6.0\%). An even higher polarization is observed in the 3--4 keV band, reaching $\Pi_{\rm X}=28.6\%\pm2.7\%$ (MDP$_{99}\sim$8.1\%) with a confidence level of 10.8$\sigma$. Furthermore, no polarization is detected above 5 keV energy band. For 1ES 1959+650, the highest detected polarization degree in the 2--8 keV band is $\Pi_{\rm X}=12.4\%\pm0.7\%$ (MDP$_{99}\sim$2.2\%), with an electric vector position angle (EVPA) of $\psi_{\rm X}=19.7^{\circ}\pm1.6^{\circ}$. The X-ray polarization of 1ES 1959+650 exhibits evident variability, accompanied by the variations of $\psi_{\rm X}$, flux, spectrum, and energy bin. We discuss possible implications of these observational findings, including the variability in polarization, rotation of EVPA, and transition between synchrotron and synchrotron-self-Compton. With the help of AdS/CFT correspondence, we analyze the holographic Einstein images via the response function of the complex scalar field as a probe wave on the AdS Schwarzschild scalar-tensor-vector gravity (STVG) black hole (BH). We find that the amplitude of the response function $|\langle O\rangle|$ decreases with the increasing values of the coupling parameter $\alpha$, while it increases with the decreasing values of temperature $T$. The frequency $\omega$ of the wave source also plays a significant role in wave periods, as we increase the values of $\omega$, we find a decrease in periods of waves, which means that the total response function closely depends on the wave source. Further, we investigate the optical appearance of the holographic images of the BH in bulk. We found that the holographic ring always appears with the concentric stripe surrounded when the observer is located at the north pole, and an extremely bright ring appears when the observer is at the position of the photon sphere of the BH. With the change of the observational angle, this ring will change into a luminosity-deformed ring or a bright light spot. The corresponding brightness profiles show that the luminosity of the ring decreases, and the shadow radius increases with increasing values of $\alpha$. The relation between temperature $T$ and the inverse of the horizon $h_{e}$ is discussed, which shows the smaller values at the beginning of the horizon $h_{e}$, and then increases as the horizon radius increases. This effect can be used to distinguish the STVG BH solution from other BH solutions. Moreover, these significant features are also reflected in the Einstein ring and the corresponding brightness profiles. In addition, we compare the results obtained by wave optics and geometric optics, which are aligned well, implying that the holographic scheme adopted in this paper is valid., Comment: 19 pages, 19 figures

With the help of the AdS/CFT correspondence, we easily derive the desired response function of QFT on the boundary. Using the virtual optical system with a convex lens, we are able to obtain the image of the black hole from the response function and further study the Einstein ring of the non-commutative black holes. All the results show that there are some common features and different features compared to the previous study of other background black holes. And with the change of the observation position, this ring will change into a luminosity-deformed ring, or light points. In addition to these similarities, there are some different features which are due to the singularity of the event horizon temperature. Explicitly, the relation between temperature and the event horizon $T-z_h$ has two branches when the non-commutative parameter $n$ is fixed. These in turn have an effect on the behavior of the response function and the Einstein ring. However, the amplitude of $|\langle O\rangle|$ increases with the decrease of the temperature $T$ for the left branch of $T-z_h$ relation, while the amplitude of $|\langle O\rangle|$ decreases with the decrease of the temperature $T$ for the right branch. These differences are also reflected in the Einstein ring. Therefore, these differences can be used to distinguish different black hole backgrounds. In the context of holography, the Einstein ring of an AdS black hole (BH) in massive gravity (MG) is depicted. An oscillating Gaussian source on one side of the AdS boundary propagates in bulk, and we impose a response function to explain it. Using a wave optics imaging system, we obtain the optical appearance of the Einstein ring. Our research reveals that the ring can change into a luminosity-deformed ring or light spots depending on the variation of parameters and observational positions. When observers are positioned at the north pole, the holographic profiles always appear as a ring with concentric stripe surroundings, and a bright ring appears at the location of the photon sphere of the BH. These findings are consistent with the radius of the photon sphere of the BH, which is calculated in geometrical optics. In this paper, we provide a concise review of the classification and representation of design knowledge, and past efforts to support designers in acquiring knowledge. We analyze the opportunities and challenges that ChatGPT presents for knowledge management in design and propose promising future research directions.
