With the increasing development of photothermal techniques in various fields, particularly concentrated solar power (CSP) systems and solar thermoelectric generators (STEGs), the demand for high-performance spectrally selective absorbers (SSAs) has grown significantly. These SSAs are essential in achieving high solar absorption and minimal infrared thermal loss, thereby significantly enhancing solar utilization efficiency. This need becomes particularly critical in CSP systems, where high temperatures are pivotal for improved efficiency. However, the necessity for high temperatures imposes stringent requirements on the fabrication of SSAs, given the inherent trade-off between optical performance and thermal stability. SSAs typically require nanoscale thin films, but they are prone to oxidation and diffusion at high temperatures. Recent developments in photothermal materials, including ceramic composites, MXenes, high-entropy materials, and graphene, offer promising solutions to enhance SSAs’ performance. This review article provides a comprehensive evaluation of the latest advancements in these emerging photothermal materials. We summarize the strategies for integrating these advanced materials with already established nanostructures, which is a highly promising approach for the development of advanced SSAs. Additionally, the review explores the application of SSAs in CSP systems and STEGs to boost power generation efficiency. We conclude by summarizing the challenges and opportunities in the field of high-temperature SSAs, offering valuable insights into the development of high-performance SSAs and their role in solar-thermal power generation systems.

Abstract The estimation of spacecraft pose is crucial in numerous space missions, including rendezvous and docking, debris removal, and on-orbit maintenance. Estimating the pose of space objects is significantly more challenging than that of objects on Earth, primarily due to the widely varying lighting conditions, low resolution, and limited amount of data available in space images. Our main proposal is a new deep learning neural network architecture, which can effectively extract orbiting spacecraft features from images captured by inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) for pose estimation of non-cooperative on orbit spacecraft. Specifically, our model enhances spacecraft imaging by improving image contrast, reducing noise, and using transfer learning to mitigate data sparsity issues via a pre-trained model. To address sparse features in spacecraft imaging, we propose a dense residual U-Net network that employs dense residual block to reduce feature loss during downsampling. Additionally, we introduce a multi-head self-attention block to capture more global information and improve the model’s accuracy. The resulting tightly interlinked architecture, named as SU-Net, delivers strong performance gains on pose estimation by spacecraft ISAR imaging. Experimental results show that we achieve the state of the art results, and the absolute error of our model is 0.128 $$^{\circ }$$ ∘ to 0.4491 $$^{\circ }$$ ∘ , the mean error is about 0.282 $$^{\circ }$$ ∘ , and the standard deviation is about 0.065 $$^{\circ }$$ ∘ . 为利用克里藻JNU41高效生产油脂、亚油酸和叶黄素等重要代谢产物，对其进行培养条件的优化及代谢产物积累的评估。采用改良的BG-11（mBG-11）和BBM（mBBM）培养基，设置3组光照强度〔单侧100 μmol/(m2·s)、单侧300 μmol/(m2·s)和双侧300 μmol/（m2·s）〕和6种初始氮浓度（3、6、9、12、15、18 mmol/L）对克里藻JNU41进行培养，并测定其生长曲线、生化组成、总脂产率、脂肪酸组成及叶黄素含量。结果表明：克里藻JNU41在mBBM培养基、双侧光照强度300 μmol/（m2·s）、初始氮浓度6 mmol/L条件下，生物量和总脂产率最高,分别为8.38 g/L和281.71 mg/(L·d)；在mBG-11培养基、双侧光照强度300 μmol/(m2·s)、初始氮浓度3 mmol/L条件下，总脂和总脂肪酸含量最高，分别为5512%和47.10%。克里藻JNU41主要脂肪酸组成为棕榈酸、油酸、亚油酸和亚麻酸，其中亚油酸含量最高，亚油酸最高相对含量为65.87%。此外，克里藻JNU41还积累一定量叶黄素，最高含量可达1.64 mg/g。因此，克里藻JNU41是一株可用于生产多种高附加值产物的潜力藻株。To efficient production of important metabolites such as oil, linoleic acid and lutein by Klebsormidium sp. JNU41, the culture conditions were optimized and the accumulation of metabolites in Klebsormidium sp. JNU41 was evaluated. The growth curve, biochemical composition, total lipid yield, fatty acid composition and lutein content of Klebsormidium sp. JNU41 were studied using modified BG-11 (mBG-11) and BBM (mBBM) as the media, and three sets of light intensities 〔unilateral 100 μmol/(m2·s), unilateral 300 μmol/(m2·s) and bilateral 300 μmol/(m2·s)〕 and six initial nitrogen concentrations (3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 mmol/L) were used for culture. The results showed that under the conditions of mBBM media, bilateral light intensity 300 μmol/(m2·s) and initial nitrogen concentration 6 mmol/L, the biomass (8.38g/L) and total lipid yield 〔281.71 mg/(L·d)〕 reached a maximum value. Under the conditions of mBG-11 media, bilateral light intensity 300 μmol/(m2·s) and initial nitrogen concentration 3 mmol/L, the highest total lipid and total fatty acid contents reached 55.12% and 47.10%, respectively. The main components of fatty acids were palmitic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid and linolenic acid, and linoleic acid content was the highest with the highest relative content of 65.87%. In addition, Klebsormidium sp. JNU41 also accumulated a certain amount of lutein, up to 1.64 mg/g. Therefore, Klebsormidium sp. JNU41 is an algal strain that can be used to produce high value-added products.

Objectives: INS068 is a novel, soluble, and long-acting insulin analog. In this study, we evaluated the pharmacokinetics and relative bioavailability of two formulations of INS068 in healthy Chinese subjects: a reference formulation packaged in vials and administered via syringe (R), and a test formulation packaged and administered via pen injector (T).Methods: A randomized, open-label, two-period, two-sequence crossover study was conducted with 24 healthy Chinese subjects. Subjects were randomized and administered subcutaneously in the abdomen at 0.4 U/kg of test or reference INS068 injection according to an open crossover design. INS068 concentrations in the serum were measured using LC-MS/MS, and the pharmacokinetic parameters of maximum concentration (Cmax) and area under the concentration-time curve (AUC0–t and AUC0–∞) were used to evaluate relative bioavailability.Results: After a single dose at 0.4 U/kg, the median Tmax of INS068 was 12 h for both formulations, and the mean t1/2 for T and R was 13.0 h and 12.6 h, respectively. The geometric means of Cmax and AUC0–∞ were 3.99 nmol/L and 120 h·nmol/L for the T, and 4.05 nmol/L and 117 h·nmol/L for the R, respectively. The geometric mean ratios of Cmax, AUC0–t and AUC0–∞ of T over R were 98.7% (90% CI: 92.7%–105.2%), 102.6% (90% CI: 100.0%–105.3%) and 102.8% (90% CI: 100.1%–105.5%).Conclusion: The overall PK profile of the two formulations of INS068 injection was comparable in healthy subjects, and the pen injector of INS068 had adequate safety and tolerability, supporting it as a new formulation in a phase III study and bridging PK data from early phase clinical trials.Clinical Trial Registration:clinicaltrials.gov, identifier: NCT05336071

Abstract Background Increasing evidence supports that the co-treatment with growth hormone (GH) enhances ovarian response and oocyte quality during controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) in patients with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR). The composition of follicular fluid (FF) plays an essential role in oocyte development and mirrors the communication occurring between the oocyte and follicular microenvironment. However, the effect of GH on the FF metabolome remains unclear. Methods This prospective observational study recruited DOR patients undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles with minimal stimulation protocol for COS. Each patient receiving GH co-treatment was matched to a patient without GH co-treatment by propensity score matching. The FF was collected after isolating oocytes and assayed by gas chromatograph-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) metabolomics. The Pearson correlation was performed to evaluate the relationship between the number of oocytes retrieved and the levels of differential metabolites. The KEGG database was used to map differential metabolites onto various metabolic pathways. Results One hundred thirty-four FF metabolites were identified by GC-MS metabolomics. Extracting uranium from water bodies is urgently needed whether from a waste nuclear resource utilization or a new energy exploration perspective. Herein, a novel robust hierarchical porous CAP membrane was fabricated from the nucleophilic condensation of phenolphthalein and 2,6-difluorobenzonitrile, followed by classical amidoximation and nonsolvent-induced phase separation (NIPS) methods. Fast uranium uptake kinetics with sorption equilibrium at a mere 12 h was demonstrated, and the uranium uptake capacity was found to be 499 mg g−1. The significant improvement in uranium enrichment performance was probably endowed by the outstanding hydrophilic surface and the hierarchical pores throughout the cross-sectional CAP membrane. Meanwhile, it was confirmed that the CAP molecular backbone may endure polymer degradation during amidoximation, and the amount of hydroxylamine used should be strictly controlled. The sorption mechanism was explored, and practical testing experimentally indicated the excellent desorption, reusability and selectivity properties of the CAP membrane. Overall, the easy processability, robustness and outstanding uranium sorption performance made the CAP membrane an ideal candidate for uranium enrichment from water bodies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Memristors are a candidate device for artificial neural systems due to their excellent conductance‐regulation ability and potential to simulate the characteristics of biological synapses. This study fabricated a Pt/TaOx/TiOy/Ti analog artificial synapse memristor that exhibits excellent multilevel storage property with a large on/off ratio of ≈660 times. The dynamic resistive switching mechanism is well expounded and validated by the reset stopping voltage dependent Schottky fitting results. Moreover, the essential biological synaptic characteristics such as long‐term potentiation/depression (LTP/D) and paired‐pulse facilitation (PPF) are successfully mimicked with a low pulse energy consumption of 12.69 nJ. A neuromorphic network constructed on the enhanced symmetry and linearity of conductance for this Pt/TaOx/TiOy/Ti memristive device can achieve 92.45% accuracy in recognizing handwritten pattern. These results demonstrate a significant potential for application Pt/TaOx/TiOy/Ti memristor in non‐volatile memory and bioinspired neuromorphic systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Adipose tissue composition contributes greatly to the quality and nutritional value of meat. Transcriptomic and lipidomic techniques were used to investigate the molecular mechanisms of the differences in fat deposition in Ningxiang pigs, Berkshires and F1 offspring. Transcriptomic analysis identified 680, 592, and 380 DEGs in comparisons of Ningxiang pigs vs. Berkshires, Berkshires vs. F1 offspring, and Ningxiang pigs vs. F1 offspring. The lipidomic analysis screened 423, 252, and 50 SCLs in comparisons of Ningxiang pigs vs. Berkshires, Berkshires vs. F1 offspring, and Ningxiang pigs vs. F1 offspring. Lycine, serine, and the threonine metabolism pathway, fatty acid biosynthesis and metabolism-related pathways were significantly enriched in comparisons of Berkshires vs. Ningxiang pigs and Berkshires vs. F1 offspring. The DEGs (PHGDH, LOC110256000) and the SCLs (phosphatidylserines) may have a great impact on the glycine, serine, and the threonine metabolism pathway. Moreover, the DEGs (FASN, ACACA, CBR4, SCD, ELOV6, HACD2, CYP3A46, CYP2B22, GPX1, and GPX3) and the SCLs (palmitoleic acid, linoleic acid, arachidonic acid, and icosadienoic acid) play important roles in the fatty acid biosynthesis and metabolism of fatty acids. Thus, the difference in fat deposition among Ningxiang pig, Berkshires, and F1 offspring may be caused by differences in the expression patterns of key genes in multiple enriched KEGG pathways. This research revealed multiple lipids that are potentially available biological indicators and screened key genes that are potential targets for molecular design breeding. The research also explored the molecular mechanisms of the difference in fat deposition among Ningxiang pig, Berkshires, and F1 pigs, and provided an insight into selection for backfat thickness and the fat composition of adipose tissue for future breeding strategies.

Ningxiang pigs exhibit a diverse array of fatty acids, making them an intriguing model for exploring the genetic underpinnings of fatty acid metabolism. We conducted a genome-wide association study using a dataset comprising 50,697 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and samples from over 600 Ningxiang pigs. Our investigation yielded novel candidate genes linked to five saturated fatty acids (SFAs), four monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs), and five polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). Significant associations with SFAs, MUFAs, and PUFAs were found for 37, 21, and 16 SNPs, respectively. Notably, some SNPs have significant PVE, such as ALGA0047587, which can explain 89.85% variation in Arachidic acid (C20:0); H3GA0046208 and DRGA0016063 can explain a total of 76.76% variation in Elaidic Acid (C18:1n-9(t)), and the significant SNP ALGA0031262 of Arachidonic acid (C20:4n-6) can explain 31.76% of the variation. Several significant SNPs were positioned proximally to previously reported genes. In total, we identified 11 candidate genes (hnRNPU, CEPT1, ATP1B1, DPT, DKK1, PRKG1, EXT2, MEF2C, IL17RA, ITGA1 and ALOX5), six candidate genes (ALOX5AP, MEDAG, ISL1, RXRB, CRY1, and CDKAL1), and five candidate genes (NDUFA4L2, SLC16A7, OTUB1, EIF4E and ROBO2) associated with SFAs, MUFAs, and PUFAs, respectively. These findings hold great promise for advancing breeding strategies aimed at optimizing meat quality and enhancing lipid metabolism within the intramuscular fat (IMF) of Ningxiang pigs.

Abstract Solar and radiative warming are smart approaches to maintaining the human body at a metabolically comfortable temperature in both indoor and outdoor scenarios. Nevertheless, existing warming textiles are ineffective in frigid climates because the solar absorption of selective absorbing coating is significantly reduced when coated on rough textile surface. Herein, for the first time, high‐entropy nitrides based spectrally selective film (SSF) is introduced on common cotton through a one‐step magnetron sputtering method. The well‐designed refractive index gradient enables destructive interference effects, offering a roughness‐insensitive high solar absorptance (92.8%) and low thermal emittance (39.2%). Impressively, the solar absorptance is 9.1% higher than the reported best‐performing selective nanofilm‐based textile. As a result, such a textile achieves a record‐high photothermal conversion efficiency (82.2% under 0.6 suns, at 0 °C). This textile yields a 3.5 °C drop in the set‐point of indoor air‐conditioner temperature. Besides, in a winter morning with an air temperature of 7.5 °C, it warms up the human skin by as large as 12 °C under weak sunlight (350 W m−2). More importantly, such a superior radiative warming performance is achieved by engineering the widely used cotton without compromising its breathability and durability, showing great potential for practical applications.

With the development of new materials and technology, high entropy alloy (HEA) nitride films have attracted much attention of researchers due to their excellent optical properties and mechanical properties. Herein, a novel SS/NbMoTaWN (HEAN)/NbMoTaWON (HEAON)/SiO2 coatings are prepared, which shows a high spectral selectivity of α/ε = 0.944/0.12. The preparation and optimization of the coating are studied by combining experiments with ellipsometric program and CODE software. High temperature thermal stability test is performed in depth, which proves that the coating could bear 400 °C in air for 2 h, and 600 °C for 2 h in vacuum. Long-term thermal stability researches indicate that the SSACs still keep good optical properties (α = 0.902, ε = 0.106) even after annealing at 600 °C for 100 h. The failure mechanism is analyzed by XRD and Raman spectra. In addition, neutral salt spray test is performed to investigate the anti-corrosion ability, which indicates the coating has a good optical performance after soaking in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution for 30 days. Obviously, this work provides a new strategy to construct solar absorber coatings based on NbMoTaW high entropy alloy.
