Let $A$ be an invertible $d\times d$ matrix with integer elements. Then $A$ determines a self-map $T$ of the $d$-dimensional torus $\mathbb{T}^d=\mathbb{R}^d/\mathbb{Z}^d$. Given a real number $\tau>0$, and a sequence $\{z_n\}$ of points in $\mathbb{T}^d$, let $W_\tau$ be the set of points $x\in\mathbb{T}^d$ such that $T^n(x)\in B(z_n,e^{-n\tau})$ for infinitely many $n\in\mathbb{N}$. The Hausdorff dimension of $W_\tau$ has previously been studied by Hill--Velani and Li--Liao--Velani--Zorin. We provide complete results on the Hausdorff dimension of $W_\tau$ for any expanding matrix. For hyperbolic matrices, we compute the dimension of $W_\tau$ only when $A$ is a $2 \times 2$ matrix. Cauchy matrix approach for the discrete Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur equations is reconsidered, where two `proper' discrete Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur equations and two `unproper' discrete Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur equations are derived. The `proper' equations admit local reduction, while the `unproper' equations admit nonlocal reduction. By imposing the local and nonlocal complex reductions on the obtained discrete Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur equations, two local and nonlocal discrete complex modified Korteweg-de Vries equations are constructed. For the obtained local and nonlocal discrete complex modified Korteweg-de Vries equations, soliton solutions and Jordan-block solutions are presented by solving the determining equation set. The dynamical behaviors of 1-soliton solution are analyzed and illustrated. Continuum limits of the resulting local and nonlocal discrete complex modified Korteweg-de Vries equations are discussed., Comment: This paper contains 18 pages and 14 figures

We consider linear mappings on the $d$-dimensional torus, defined by $T(x) = Ax \pmod 1$, where $A$ is an invertible $d \times d$ integer matrix, with no eigenvalues on the unit circle. We show that limsup sets generated by a sequence of open sets in compact Ahlfors $s$-regular space $(X,\mathscr{B},\mu,\rho)$ belong to the classes of sets with large intersections with index $\lambda$, denoted by $\mathcal{G}^{\lambda}(X)$, under some conditions. In particular, this provides a lower bound on Hausdorff dimension of such sets. These results are applied to obtain that limsup random fractals with indices $\gamma_2$ and $\delta$ belong to $\mathcal{G}^{s-\delta-\gamma_2}(X)$ almost surely, and random covering sets with exponentially mixing property belong to $\mathcal{G}^{s_0}(X)$ almost surely, where $s_0$ equals to the corresponding Hausdorff dimension of covering sets almost surely. Let $A$ be a limsup random fractal with indices $\gamma_1, ~\gamma_2 ~$and $\delta$ on $[0,1]^d$. We determine the hitting probability $\mathbb{P}(A\cap G)$ for any analytic set $G$ with the condition $(\star)$$\colon$ $\dim_{\rm H}(G)>\gamma_2+\delta$, where $\dim_{\rm H}$ denotes the Hausdorff dimension. This extends the correspondence of Khoshnevisan, Peres and Xiao [10] by relaxing the condition that the probability $P_n$ of choosing each dyadic hyper-cube is homogeneous and $\lim\limits_{n\to\infty}\frac{\log_2P_n}{n}$ exists. We also present some counterexamples to show the Hausdorff dimension in condition $(\star)$ can not be replaced by the packing dimension., Comment: 12 pages

Interface phonon modes that are generated by several atomic layers at the heterointerface play a major role in the interface thermal conductance for nanoscale high-power devices such as nitride-based high-electron-mobility transistors and light emitting diodes. Here we measure the local phonon spectra across AlN/Si and AlN/Al interfaces using atomically resolved vibrational electron energy-loss spectroscopy in a scanning transmission electron microscope. At the AlN/Si interface, we observe various localized phonon modes, of which the extended and interfacial modes act as bridges to connect the bulk AlN modes and bulk Si modes, and are expected to boost the inelastic phonon transport thus substantially contribute to interface thermal conductance. In comparison, no such phonon bridge is observed at the AlN/Al interface, for which partially extended modes dominate the interface thermal conductivity. This work provides valuable insights into understanding the interfacial thermal transport in nitride semiconductors and useful guidance for thermal management via interface engineering.

Let $(X,\mathscr{B}, \mu,T,d)$ be a measure-preserving dynamical system with exponentially mixing property, and let $\mu$ be an Ahlfors $s$-regular probability measure. The dynamical covering problem concerns the set $E(x)$ of points which are covered by the orbits of $x\in X$ infinitely many times. We prove that the Hausdorff dimension of the intersection of $E(x)$ and any regular fractal $G$ equals $\dim_{\rm H}G+\alpha-s$, where $\alpha=\dim_{\rm H}E(x)$ $\mu$--a.e. Moreover, we obtain the packing dimension of $E(x)\cap G$ and an estimate for $\dim_{\rm H}(E(x)\cap G)$ for any analytic set $G$., Comment: 27pages

Let $\{B(\xi_n,r_n)\}_{n\ge1}$ be a sequence of random balls whose centers $\{\xi_n\}_{n\ge1}$ is a stationary process, and $\{r_n\}_{n\ge1}$ is a sequence of positive numbers decreasing to 0. Our object is the random covering set $E=\limsup\limits_{n\to\infty}B(\xi_n,r_n)$, that is, the points covered by $B(\xi_n,r_n)$ infinitely often. The sizes of $E$ are investigated from the viewpoint of measure, dimension and topology.

Relativistic massless Weyl and Dirac fermions have isotropic and linear dispersion relations to maintain Poincar\'{e} symmetry, which is the most basic symmetry in high-energy physics. The situation in condensed matter physics is less constrained; only certain subgroups of Poincar\'{e} symmetry -- the 230 space groups that exist in 3D lattices -- need be respected. Then, the free fermionic excitations that have no high energy analogues could exist in solid state systems. Here, We discovered a type of nonlinear Dirac fermion without high-energy analogue in SrAgBi and named it type-IV Dirac fermion. The type-IV Dirac fermion has a nonlinear dispersion relationship and is similar to the type-II Dirac fermion, which has electron pocket and hole pocket. The effective model for the type-IV Dirac fermion is also found. It is worth pointing out that there is a type-II Dirac fermion near this new Dirac fermion. So we used two models to describe the coexistence of these two Dirac fermions. Topological surface states of these two Dirac points are also calculated.
