Abstract

The influence of repeated i.v. administration of dimethoxybenfluron (NO-1-B) (12 or 24 mg base/kg once weekly, 10 weeks) on biochemical and haematological parameters were studied in rabbits in vivo. No significant changes were mostly found in the serum ion levels between the dimethoxybenfluron and the control groups, as well as in most of other biochemical parameters (including total protein and albumin levels). Nevertheless, the lower dose of dimethoxybenfluron caused an increase in the glucose level. Furthermore, no significant changes were mostly present also in haematological parameters in the dimethoxybenfluron groups of rabbits (a mild decrease in thrombocytes and leucocytes). The results of our study support an assumption of good tolerance of dimethoxybenfluron from the viewpoint of its influence on biochemical and haematological parameters in rabbits and may be considered of importance for a possible therapeutic use of the derivatives.

Abstract

2,3,4-Tri-O-benzyl-alpha-D-methylglucoside was prepared and reacted with several acids: benzoic, phenylacetic, 2-(3-bromo-propoxy)-benzoic, acetylsalicylic and 4-(toluene-4-sulfonylamino)-benzoic. The products were isolated with low to fair yields and fully characterized by usual analytical techniques, Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia and FEDER, for National NMR Network (Bruker Avance III 400). Abstract

This work evaluates the development of sequestering agents and chelating surfactants. These agents are the substances capable of removing a metal ion from a solution system via formation of a complex ion that does not possess the reaction activity of the removed ion. These agents are used to eliminate water hardness and some metals, such as iron; both having found a wide applicability in the textile industry. Surface activity of chelating surfactants was measured by stalagmometric method. The sequestering capacity was measured at 20°C and 90°C using media with different pH and in combination with precipitating opacity titration - the so-called Hampshire test. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

This work presents the results of model washing with addition of prepared samples of sequestering agents and chelating surfactants. After 20x repeated washing in hard water of 22°dH (given in German degrees of hardness) the content of ash and Ca2+ ions were determined. Abstract

The article studies the fixation of reactive dyes on nylon 6 and nylon 66. It uses the Realan, Lanasol, and synthesized model vinylsulphone dyes, started in room temperature and raised with reflectance measurements and spectrophotometer UV2 for absorption measurements. Absorption isotherms are examined to determine the chemical affinity and diffusion coefficients. Furthermore, it resolves that fixation of reactive dyes depends on the chromophore which form strong bonds to increase the probability of reaction in the fiber, with no significant role of the Van der Waals forces.

34. Photocatalysis of sulfo and carboxy derivatives of indigo in a TiO2 slurry with the use of polychromatic irradiation

Abstract

Abstract: The photocatalytic decomposition of indigo-5,5′-disulfonic acid (indigocarmine) and indigo-6,6′-dicarboxylic acid has been studied using TiO2 suspension and the polychromatic irradiation of a high-pressure Hg arc lamp. The dyestuffs were dissolved in aqueous medium at pH = 10 and photolyzed in a back-flow tubular photoreactor. The reaction products were determined by HPLC, NMR and MS spectroscopy. Two main photoproducts obtained from indigocarmine (2-amino-5-sulfobenzoic acid and isatine-5-sulfonic acid) were detected. The photocatalysis of indigo-6,6′-dicarboxylic acid gave aminoterephthalic acid and isatine-6-carboxylic acid as two main products. The quantitative analyses of reaction products were performed with UV/Vis and HPLC using chemical standards. A stoichiometric model and kinetic description of photocatalysis of sulfo and carboxy indigo dyes are suggested. The effect of hydroxide and carbonate anions on the rate of photocatalysis was also studied.
