Abstract

The practice discipline of nursing has been revolutionized through incorporating clinical simulation in nurse orientation in hospital maternal/child settings and in clinical laboratory courses in nursing programs across the country. Planning for the use of clinical simulation, having expert nurse educators and staff, and including a budget for equipment is extremely important to successfully implement clinical simulation. The use of clinical simulation occurs across the curriculum and helps nursing students prepare for practice in maternal/child hospital settings where they have clinical rotations. Through the use of clinical simulation scenarios, teaching and learning strategies for safe care delivery will help prepare nursing students for clinical practice with application to childbirth educators considered.
