Abstract

Site-testing is crucial for achieving the goal of scientific research and analysis of meteorological and optical observing conditions is one of the basic tasks of it. As one of three potential sites to host 12-meter Large Optical/infrared Telescope (LOT), Muztagh-ata site which is located on the Pamirs Plateau in west China's Xinjiang began its site-testing task in the spring of 2017. In this paper, we firstly start with an introduction to the site and then present a statistical analysis of the ground-level meteorological properties such as air temperature, barometric pressure, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, recorded by automatic weather station with standard meteorological sensors for two-year long. Abstract

In this article, we present a detailed analysis of the statistical properties of seeing for the Muztagh-ata site which is the candidate site for hosting future Chinese Large Optical/infrared Telescope (LOT) project. The measurement was obtained with Differential Image Motion Monitor (DIMM) from April 2017 to November 2018 at different heights during different periods. The median seeing at 11 meters and 6 meters are very close but different significantly from that on the ground. We mainly analyzed the seeing at 11 meters monthly and hourly, having found that the best season for observing was from late autumn to early winter and seeing tended to improve during the night only in autumn. The analysis of the dependence on temperature inversion, wind speed, direction also was made and the best meteorological conditions for seeing is given., Comment: 13 pages, 16 figures

Abstract

The Large Optical/infrared Telescope (LOT) is a ground-based 12m diameter optical/infrared telescope which is proposed to be built in the western part of China in the next decade. Based on satellite remote sensing data, along with geographical, logistical and political considerations, three candidate sites were chosen for ground-based astronomical performance monitoring. These sites include: Ali in Tibet, Daocheng in Sichuan, and Muztagh Ata in Xinjiang. Up until now, all three sites have continuously collected data for two years. In this paper, we will introduce this site testing campaign, and present its monitoring results obtained during the period between March 2017 and March 2019.

Abstract

In this work, we provide 2189 photometric- and kinematic-selected member candidates of 24 star clusters from the LAMOST DR2 catalog. We perform two-step membership identification: selection along the stellar track in the color-magnitude diagram, i.e., photometric identification, and the selection from the distribution of radial velocities, i.e. the kinematic identification. We find that the radial velocity from the LAMOST data are very helpful in the membership identification. The mean probability of membership is 40\% for the radial velocity selected sample. With these 24 star clusters, we investigate the performance of the radial velocity and metallicity estimated in the LAMOST pipeline. We find that the systematic offset in radial velocity and metallicity are $0.85\pm1.26$\,\kms\ and $-0.08\pm0.04$\,dex, with dispersions of $5.47_{-0.71}^{+1.16}$\,\kms\ and $0.13_{-0.02}^{+0.04}$\,dex, respectively. Finally, we propose that the photometric member candidates of the clusters covered by the LAMOST footprints should be assigned higher priority so that more member stars can be observed., Comment: accepted, 63 pages

6. DYSPLASIA AND TORTICOLLIS ON THE SKIN MICROBIOTA OF CHINESE SPINY FROG AT THE STAGE OF COMPLETE METAMORPHOSIS.

Abstract

The microbiota plays a critical role in amphibian health, however, the exact impact of disease on the host microbiota assembly remains unclear, and microbiota-based health assessment and disease prediction is a promising yet poorly established field. Chinese spiny frog (Quasipaa spinosa) is an important "famous, high-quality and new" cultured amphibian in China, but diseases have become a major bottleneck restricting the development of breeding industry, especially during the initial stages of complete metamorphosis. Disruption of homeostasis or failure to reconstruct the skin microbiota leads to a variety of diseases. In this study, Illumina high-throughput sequencing technology was utilized to systemically explore potential associations between host health status (healthy spiny frogs (CTL), dysplastic disease (DD), and torticollis disease (TD)) and the composition, diversity and function of the skin microbiota. A total of 2997 amplicon sequence variants (ASVs) were obtained by sequencing, quality control and clustering, annotating 32 phyla, 76 orders, 167 orders, 259 families and 402 genera. Proteobacteria, Firmicutes and Bacteroidota were the dominant phyla (>1%) shared by all groups, but their abundance was significantly modified by health status of the host. At the genus level, 50 sensitive taxa were screened with 23 (e.g., Lactobacillus, Devosia, Shewanella and Luteolibacter) exhibiting high relative abundance in the CTL group, indicating the health status of spiny frogs. 19 taxa (e.g., Empe-dobacter, Bacillus and Brevinema) showed high relative abundance in the DD group, indicating dysplasia in spiny frogs, and 8 taxa (e.g., Elizabethkingia, Citrobacter and Acinetobacter) had high relative abundance in the TD group, indicating torticollis. Alpha diversity analyses indicated that the TD group had significantly lower diversity and evenness compared to the CTL and DD groups, and the microbiota composition also exhibited distinct separation. Functional predictions indicated significant differences between the CTL and diseased groups, which were mainly enriched in metabolism-relevant pathways. In summary, this study depicts the composition and changes in the skin microbiota of spiny frogs under different health conditions, highlighting the potential application of symbiotic microbiota modification in healthy amphibian culture and disease prevention. Abstract

The new generation of large sky area spectroscopic survey project has produced nearly 10 million low-resolution stellar spectra. Based on these spectroscopic data, this paper introduces a machine learning algorithm named The Cannon. This algorithm is completely based on the known spectroscopic data of stellar atmospheric parameters (effective temperature, surface gravity, and metal abundance, etc.), this algorithm builds the characteristic vector by means of data driving, and establishes the functional relation between spectral flux characteristics and stellar parameters. Then it is applied to the observed spectral data to calculate the atmospheric parameters. The main advantage of The Cannon is that it is not directly based on any stellar physical models, it has an even higher applicability. Moreover, because of the use of full-spectrum information, even for the spectra with a low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), it still can obtain the parameter solutions of high reliability. This algorithm has significant advantages in the data processing and parameter determination of large-scale stellar spectra. In addition, this paper presents two examples of using The Cannon to obtain the stellar parameters of K and M giants from the LAMOST spectral data.

Abstract

For the studies of intergalactic medium and galactic chemical evolution, it is a foundation to measure the abundances of metallic elements in the interstellar or intergalactic medium by using the absorption lines of damped Lyman alpha systems (DLAs) on the celestial spectra. Three methods exist for measuring the metal column density of gas clouds: the curve of growth (COG) method, the line profile fitting method (LPTM), and the apparent optical depth method (AODM). The COG method was developed in about half a century ago, so far it has been mainly applied in observations with a low spectral resolution. But the COG method is unaffected by the instrumental profile, and it is widely used in the case of optically-thin gas clouds. In recent years, most observations are done with high-resolution spectrographs, and in the case of the rapid development of computer technology, the LPTM and AODM, especially the LPTM, are more frequently adopted by most of astronomers. However, the LPTM has more free parameters to determine, so, it will consume more computing time, and sometimes will result in several convergent solutions. It will also introduce more deviations when one spectral line is blended seriously with other lines. The AODM is intermediate between the COG method and the LPTM, it shows favoritism to some people owing to its simplicity and reliability; but because of the possible existence of unresolved saturation structure in spectral lines, its application is restricted to some extent.

Abstract

Objective: To observe the changes in content of monoamine neurotransmitters in the serum of rhesus macaques, and explore the role of serum monoamine neurotransmitters in premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and liver-qi depression induced by anger-in emotion., Methods: Social level pressure was applied on 24 female macaques to induce the angry emotional reaction, and then nine of the low-status macaques with anger-in emotional reaction were screened out and were divided into anger-in emotion group, PMS and liver-qi depression group (model group) and Jingqianshu Granule group. Macaques in the last two groups were suffered extruding in a pack cage for inducing PMS liver-qi depression. After 5 d of extruding, experimental animals were evaluated according to the emotional evaluation scale, meanwhile, macaque serum of follicular phase and middle-late luteal phase was collected to analyze the content of serum norepinephrine, dopamine, and 5-hydroxytryptamine., Results: Compared with the normal control group, the scores of depression of the model group and the anger-in emotion group evaluated with emotional evaluation scale were significantly increased (P<0.01, P<0.05); while the score of the model group was significantly higher than that of the anger-in emotion group (P<0.05), and it returned to normal after Jingqianshu Granule treatment. As compared to the normal control group, serum monoamine neurotransmitter levels of the model group and the anger-in emotion group were increased (P<0.05, P<0.01), and the serum monoamine neurotransmitter levels of the model group were significantly higher than those of the anger-in emotion group (P<0.05), while there was no significant difference when compared with the normal control group after the treatment., Conclusion: Anger-in emotion can induce liver-qi depression syndrome which is related to the changes in monoamine neurotransmitters.
