4. Taxonomic study of Hydnoporia (Hymenochaetales, Hymenochaetaceae) in East Asia with two new species.

Abstract

The genus Hydnoporia (Hymenochaetales, Hymenochaetaceae) was first described by Murrill in 1907. However, species of Hydnoporia were subsequently reclassified into the genera Hymenochaete, Hymenochaetopsis, and Pseudochaete due to overlapping morphological characteristics, leading to multiple synonyms and confusion among researchers. Recent phylogenetic analyses based on multimarker datasets have clarified the diversity and relationships within Hydnoporia, but East Asian species remain underrepresented due to limited morphological data. To address this gap, we conducted a comprehensive morphological and phylogenetic analysis of East Asian Hydnoporia specimens using internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and translation elongation factor 1–α (tef1) regions. From 42 specimens, we identified six species, including two novel species, Hydnoporia orienticorrugata sp. nov. and Hydnoporia subtabacina sp. nov., and we report Hydnoporia rimosa for the first time in Korea. Phylogenetic analyses also support the recombination of Hymenochaete intricata and Hymenochaetopsis rigidula as Hydnoporia intricata comb. nov. and Hydnoporia rigidula comb. nov., respectively. By elucidating the phylogenetic relationships and morphological traits of Hydnoporia species from East Asia, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of the global diversity and phylogeny of the genus. 19. Taxonomic reexamination of Auricularia specimens based on updated morphological criteria

Abstract

Auricularia specimens deposited in the National Museum of Nature and Science, Japan, were observed to reexamine their species identification based on updated taxonomic criteria, and to verify the taxonomy and distribution of Auricularia spp. in Japan. Four of the ten specimens previously identified as A. auriculajudae were reidentified as A. americana (1), A. cornea (1), and A. villosula (2) based on morphological criteria such as medullae, abhymenial hairs, and basidiospores. The remaining six specimens could not be identified at the species level due to the lack of distinguishing morphological characteristics. Two of the five specimens previously considered A. minor were identified as different species due to basidiospore size discrepancy, but the remaining two specimens and the type specimen were in poor condition, and their basidiospores could not be properly observed. Three of the nine specimens previously identified as A. polytricha were reidentified as A. cornea based on morphological criteria. The remaining six specimens were not identified as A. polytricha. The type specimens of A. polytricha f. leucochroma and A. polytricha f. tenuis were in poor condition, and their basidiospores could not be properly observed. Reexaminations of existing specimens based on recent taxonomic criteria will contribute to updating the taxonomy and distribution of Auricularia spp. in Japan., 国立科学博物館に収蔵されているAuricularia標本の形態を観察し，近年の分類学的基準に基づく種同定および本属菌の日本における分類と分布の再検討を行った。その結果，A. auricula-judaeとされていた10標本中，4標本がそれぞれA. americana（1），A. cornea（1），A. villosula（2）に再同定された。残りの6標本は，種の識別に有用な形態的特徴がみられなかったため，種同定には至らなかった。Auricularia minor とされていた5 標本のうち，2標本は本種とは別種と考えられた。残りの2標本とタイプ標本は状態が良好ではなく，十分な担子胞子の観察ができなかった。Auricularia polytricha とされていた9標本のうち，3標本はA. corneaに再同定された。残りの6標本はA. polytrichaやA. nigricansとは別種であると考えられた。Auricularia polytricha f. leucochromaとA. polytricha f. tenuisのタイプ標本は状態が良好ではなく，担子胞子の観察ができなかった。近年の分類基準に基づいて過去の標本を再検討することにより，日本におけるAuricularia spp.の分類と分布情報を更新することができるだろう。

Abstract

Specimens of Marasmiellus mesosporus from various parts of the world were morphologically and phylogenetically studied. The results confirmed its identity with M. dunensis, described from southern Europe, and M. arenaceus, described from Japan. Marasmiellus mesosporus is a fungus connected with coastal sandy dunes having a wide distribution being collected in southeastern North America, Lesser and Greater Antilles, Pacific Islands, southern Europe and South and East Asia. Its comparison with phylogenetically and morphologically related species is provided. A new genus Paramarasmius containing P. palmivorus, as the type species, and P. mesosporus is described on the base of phylogenetic analyses of ITS and LSU rDNA sequences. A new combination Collybiopsis carneopallida is also proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

南硫黄島から2017年に採集されたきのこ類についてリスト化するともに子実体写真で紹介する。合計12標本(2門2綱4目9科11属11種)が採集され、全て腐生菌もしくは木材腐朽菌であった。多くは南硫黄島に自然分布する種であると思われる。, Several species of mushrooms (Ascomycota and Basidiomycota) collected and identified from Minami-Iwo-To Island, Japan in 2017 are reported with photographs and a list of specimens. A total of 12 specimens (2 phyla, 2 classes, 4 orders, 9 families, 11 genera, and 11 species) were collected. All species were either saprophytes or wood decay fungi and most are considered native to the island.
