Background Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common issue among males, and the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy for treating ED has gained increasing attention, but there is still no conclusive evidence regarding its efficacy.Aim To evaluate the efficacy of PRP therapy for ED.Methods We systematically searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases up to November 2023 to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on PRP therapy for ED. We used Review Manager version 5.4 for data analysis and management.Result After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria for screening, a total of 4 studies involving 413 patients were finally included in our meta-analysis. According to our analysis, the PRP group showed significant advantages over the placebo group in terms of MCID at the first month (p = 0.03) and sixth months (p = 0.008), while there was no significant difference between the two groups at the third month (p = 0.19). ObjectiveUrolithiasis is a common urological diseases and affects the daily life of patients. Medical expulsive therapy has become acceptable for many parents. We conducted a meta-analysis to determine the efficacy and safety of tadalafil compared with tamsulosin for treating distal ureteral stones less than 10 mm in length.MethodsRelated studies were identified via searches of the PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases. All the articles that described the use of tadalafil and tamsulosin for treating distal ureteral stones were collected.ResultsA total of 14 studies were included in our meta-analysis. Our results revealed that tadalafil enhanced expulsion rate [odds ratio (OR) = 0.68, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.47 to 0.98, p = 0.04]; reduced expulsion time [mean difference (MD) = 1.22, 95% CI (0.13, 2.30), p = 0.03]; lowered analgesia use [MD = 38.66, 95% CI (7.56, 69.77), p = 0.01] and hospital visits [MD = 0.14, 95% CI (0.06, 0.22), p = 0.0006]. According to our subgroup analysis, either tadalafil 5 mg or 10 mg did not promote expulsion rate and accelerate expulsion time compared with tamsulosin. But patients receiving 5 mg tadalafil decreased analgesia usage [MD = 101.04, 95% CI (67.56, 134.01), p < 0.00001].ConclusionCompared with tamsulosin, tadalafil demonstrates a higher expulsion rate and less expulsion time for patients with distal ureteral stones less than 10 mm with a favorable safety profile.

Background: Oxidative stress, imbalance of neurotransmitters and multidrug resistant transporters play pivotal roles in the development and treatment of seizures. Classical formula Baijin Pills (BJP) has been used to treat brain damage caused by epilepsy for thousands of years. However, little information on the anti-seizure effects of BJP has been reported so far. Purpose: To investigate the effects of BJP on Lithium-pilocarpine- induced seizures and its role in the regulation of oxidative stress and neurotransmission. Study Design: The present study elucidates the anti-epileptic effects and mechanisms of action of BJP, using a mouse model of Lithium-pilocarpine- induced seizures. Methods: The antiepileptic effect of BJP was tested by fear conditioning test of mice model. Nissl staining showed neural loss and apoptosis in the hippocampus seizure mice and BJP treatment. Immunohistochemistry analysis of Bcl-2 and Bax inflected anti-apoptotic effects of BJP. The chemical colorimetric method was utilized to determine the effects of BJP on oxidative stress. The levels of excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) were detected by ELISA. Whole-cell votage-clamp recording was made to detect currents of receptor gated channels. Results: We found that BJP can significantly improve the cognitive disorders of epileptic mice, prolonged the latency of seizures and reduced the duration of epilepsy. BJP also effectively ameliorate neural injury in the hippocampus, up-regulated Bcl-2 protein level whereas decreased Bax expression. Moreover, the levels of SOD, GSH as well as γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) were increased, while the levels of MDA, aminomethyl phosphonic acid (AMPA) and N-Methyl-D-aspartic acid (NMDA) were decreased in the hippocampus with BJP treatment. Patch clamp recording showed that BJP had no significant effect on the current induced by GABA, NMDA and AMPA in acutely isolated mice hippocampal neurons. Furthermore, BJP inhibited the expression of P-gp, MRP1 and MDR1 protein. Conclusions: Our study provides the first experimental basis that BJP can exert anti-seizure effects by attenuating oxidative stress, regulating neurotransmission and inhibit drug-resistant associated proteins. BJP may be developed as a drug candidate to treat epilepsy in clinical practice.

Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC), a rare malignancy, typically originates in salivary glands and is rarely found in other locations. In this case report, we describe a 54-year-old male patient who was presented to the Urology Department of Yantai Yuhuangding hospital with right-sided waist pain. The patient underwent percutaneous ultrasound-guided biopsies of lesions in the kidney and lung, which were histologically confirmed as primary adenoid cystic carcinoma of the lung and metastatic renal adenoid cystic carcinoma, respectively. Given the presence of multiple metastases, the patient received systemic palliative chemotherapy, which was well-tolerated and effectively controlled the tumor. At the last follow-up, there was no evidence of tumor progression in the patient.

Abstract Background The therapeutic role of extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) for Peyronie’s disease (PD) has been controversial in a long term. We aimed to further evaluate the therapeutic effect of ESWT for PD on the basis of available high-quality studies. Methods The PubMed, CENTRAL and Embase databases were searched for articles published from January 1st, 2000 to December 31, 2022. Only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) using ESWT to treat PD were included. Meta-analysis and forest plots were carried out using Review Manager 5.4.1 software, and outcomes were reviewed by 2 authors independently. Using the Risk of Bias assessment form (ROB-2) by Cochrane Collaboration for quality assessment. PRISMA 2020 guidelines were used in this article to achieve the quantitative and qualitative synthesis of data. Results A total of four RCTs were included. 151 patients in the ESWT group and 150 patients in the control group. The meta-analysis results showed that ESWT could significantly reduce plaque size (OR 2.59, 95%CI 1.15 to 5.85, P = 0.02) and relieve pain (MD -1.55, 95%CI -2.46 to -0.64, P = 0.0008); but it has no significant effect on reducing the penile curvature (OR 1.93, 95%CI 0.87–4.26, P = 0.11) and improving sexual function (MD 2.6, 95%CI -1.63 to 6.83, P = 0.23), there is also no significant difference in complication rates between groups (OR 2.94, 95%CI 0.66 to 13.03, P = 0.16). The risk of bias of results is low. The limitations of this study are that the number of included studies is too small, some experimental outcomes are missing, and the expression of outcomes is not unified. Conclusions For PD, ESWT can be considered as a safe short-term treatment, which can reduce plaque size and relieve pain, but cannot improve penile curvature and sexual function. Its long-term efficacy remains to be discussed. Registration number PROSPERO (ID: CRD42023436744).

Abstract A charge order (CO) with a wavevector $${{{{{{{\bf{q}}}}}}}}\simeq \left(\frac{1}{3},\, 0,\, 0\right)$$ q ≃ 1 3 , 0 , 0 is observed in infinite-layer nickelates. Here we use first-principles calculations to demonstrate a charge-transfer-driven CO mechanism in infinite-layer nickelates, which leads to a characteristic Ni1+-Ni2+-Ni1+ stripe state. For every three Ni atoms, due to the presence of near-Fermi-level conduction bands, Hubbard interaction on Ni-d orbitals transfers electrons on one Ni atom to conduction bands and leaves electrons on the other two Ni atoms to become more localized. We further derive a low-energy effective model to elucidate that the CO state arises from a delicate competition between Hubbard interaction on Ni-d orbitals and charge transfer energy between Ni-d orbitals and conduction bands. With physically reasonable parameters, $${{{{{{{\bf{q}}}}}}}}=\left(\frac{1}{3},\, 0,\, 0\right)$$ q = 1 3 , 0 , 0 CO state is more stable than uniform paramagnetic state and usual checkerboard antiferromagnetic state. Our work highlights the multi-band nature of infinite-layer nickelates, which leads to some distinctive correlated properties that are not found in cuprates.

Chlamydomonas reinhardtii polysaccharides (CRPs) are bioactive compounds derived from C. reinhardtii, yet their potential in cancer therapy remains largely unexplored. This study optimized the ultrasound-assisted extraction conditions using response surface methodology and proceeded with the isolation and purification of these polysaccharides. The optimal extraction conditions were identified as a sodium hydroxide concentration of 1.5%, ultrasonic power of 200 W, a solid-to-liquid ratio of 1:25 g/mL, an ultrasonic treatment time of 10 min, and a water bath duration of 2.5 h, yielding an actual extraction rate of 5.71 ± 0.001%, which closely aligns with the predicted value of 5.639%. Infrared analysis revealed that CRP-1 and CRP-2 are α-pyranose structures containing furoic acid, while CRP-3 and CRP-4 are β-pyranose structures containing furoic acid. Experimental results demonstrated that all four purified polysaccharides inhibited the proliferation of cervical (HeLa) hepatoma (HepG-2) and colon (HCT-116) cancer cells, with CRP-4 showing the most significant inhibitory effect on colon cancer and cervical cancer, achieving inhibition rates of 60.58 ± 0.88% and 40.44 ± 1.44%, respectively, and significantly reducing the migration of HeLa cells. DAPI staining confirmed that the four purified polysaccharides inhibit cell proliferation and migration by inducing apoptosis in HeLa cells. CRP-1 has the most significant inhibitory effect on the proliferation of liver cancer cells. This study not only elucidates the potential application of C. reinhardtii polysaccharides in cancer therapy but also provides a scientific basis for their further development and utilization.

Abstract Purpose Even though there isn't enough clinical evidence to demonstrate that robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) is preferable to open radical cystectomy (ORC), RARC has become a widely used alternative. We performed the present study of RARC vs ORC with a focus on oncologic, pathological, perioperative, and complication-related outcomes and health-related quality of life (QOL). Methods We conducted a literature review up to August 2022. The search included PubMed, EMBASE and Cochrane controlled trials register databases. We classified the studies according to version 2 of the Cochrane risk-of-bias tool for randomized trials (RoB 2). The data was assessed by Review Manager 5.4.0. Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is an aggressive malignant tumor. Disulfidptosis is a new programmed cell death mechanism, which is characterized by the abnormal accumulation of intracellular disulfides that are highly toxic to cells. However, the contribution of disulfidptosis to ccRCC progression has not been fully clarified. In this study, two different molecular subtypes related to disulfidptosis were identified in ccRCC patients by the non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) algorithm. The cluster 1 was characterized by a worse prognosis and higher mRNAsi levels. Then, difference analysis and weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) were conducted to search modular genes that are highly associated with tumor stemness and tumor microenvironment. Subsequently, a SADG signature containing nine genes was constructed stepwise by WGCNA and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) Cox regression analysis. The high-risk score group had a worse outcome, and immune regulation and metabolic signatures might be responsible for cancer progression in the high-risk group. After that, a predictive nomogram was constructed, and the predicting power of the risk model was verified using inter and three independent external validation datasets. Nine SADGs were shown to significantly correlate with immune infiltration, tumor mutation burden (TMB), microsatellite instability (MSI) and immune checkpoint. In addition, based on the single-cell RNA sequencing dataset (GSE139555), the distribution and expression of nine hub genes in various types of immune cells were analyzed. Finally, the expression level of the nine genes was verified in clinical samples by qRT-PCR.

Circumcision is a common pediatric operation, and distraction technique can be used as an adjunct analgesic method during the perioperative period. The study aims to explore the effect of distraction techniques on reducing pain, fear, and anxiety in children undergoing circumcision. The PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, and Embase databases were searched for articles published from January 1, 2000, to December 31, 2023. Only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were included. Meta-analysis and forest plots were carried out using Review Manager 5.4.1 software, and outcomes were reviewed by two authors independently. We used the Risk of Bias assessment form (ROB2) developed by the Cochrane Collaboration to assess the quality of included studies. PRISMA 2020 guidelines were used in this article to achieve the quantitative and qualitative synthesis of data. A total of seven RCTs were included. The intervention group consisted of 417 patients, while the control group had 245 patients. The meta-analysis and sensitivity analysis results showed that the distraction technique could significantly relieve pain (MD −1.3, 95% confidence interval [CI]: [−1.61 to −0.99], p < .00001), fear (SMD −1.04, 95%CI −1.68 to −0.4, p = .001), and anxiety (SMD −1.07, 95%CI [−1.64 to −0.51], p = .0002). Similarly, therapeutic play significant could significantly relieve fear (MD −0.4, 95%CI [−0.71 to −0.1], p = .01) and anxiety (SMD -1.31, 95%CI [−2.59 to −0.04], p = .04), virtual reality (VR) could significantly relieve anxiety (SMD −0.67, 95%CI [−0.98 to −0.37], p < .0001). Distraction techniques can alleviate perioperative pain, fear, and anxiety in children undergoing circumcision.

Infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) infection causes highly contagious and immunosuppressive disease in poultry. The thymus, serving as the primary organ for T cell maturation and differentiation, plays an important role in the pathogenicity of IBDV in the infected chickens. However, there are no reports on the molecular pathogenesis of IBDV in the thymus currently. The aim of the study was to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenicity of a field very virulent (vv) IBDV strain NN1172 in the thymus of SPF chickens using integrative transcriptomic and proteomic analyses. Our results showed that a total of 4,972 Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the thymus of NN1172-infected chickens by transcriptomic analysis, with 2,796 up-regulated and 2,176 down-regulated. Meanwhile, the proteomic analysis identified 726 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) in the infected thymus, with 289 up-regulated and 437 down-regulated. Overall, a total of 359 genes exhibited differentially expression at both mRNA and protein levels, with 134 consistently up-regulated and 198 genes consistently down-regulated, as confirmed through a comparison of the RNA-seq and the proteomic datasets. The gene ontology (GO) analysis unveiled the involvement of both DEGs and DEPs in diverse categories encompassing cellular components, biological processes, and molecular functions in the pathological changes in IBDV-infected thymus. The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis revealed that the host mainly displayed severely disruption of cell survival/repair, proliferation and metabolism pathway, meanwhile, the infection triggers antiviral immune activation with a potential emphasis on the MDA5 pathway. Network inference analysis identified seven core hub genes, which include CDK1, TYMS, MCM5, KIF11, CCNB2, MAD2L1, and MCM4. These genes are all associated with cell-cycle regulating pathway and are likely key mediators in the pathogenesis induced by NN1172 infection in the thymus. This study discovered dominant pathways and genes which enhanced our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying IBDV pathogenesis in the thymus.

Background. In order to prevent the recurrence and progression of intermediate- and high-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) after transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT), various bladder instillation therapies have been developed in recent years. Among these, device-assisted Hyperthermic Intravesical Chemotherapy (HIVEC) has received a great deal of attention. Objective. To identify the efficacy and safety of HIVEC, we conducted this meta-analysis. Methods. We identified relevant articles from PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases. All published randomized controlled trials (RCTs) describing the role of bladder instillation for the treatment of intermediate- and high-risk NMIBC were involved. Outcomes included 1–3 years Recurrence-Free Survival (RFS), 1–3 years Progression-Free Survival (PFS), 5 years Overall Survival (OS), Adverse Events (AEs), and relevant subgroup analyses. Result. Our study involved a total of 10 RCTs and 1360 patients. In subgroup analysis, we found that compared to MMC instillation, HIVEC decreased the 1–3 years RFS (OR = 0.51; p=0.009) while not increasing the incidence of AEs (OR = 0.86; p=0.30). Compared with BCG instillation, HIVEC reduced the incidence of serious AEs (OR = 0.21; p=0.04) while bringing the same efficacy (OR = 0.78; p=0.63). Conclusion. HIVEC combined the advantages of efficacy and safety compared with the two recommended instillation modalities. As a potential alternative therapy, its widespread clinical effect remains to be further evaluated.

Stilbenes are characterized by a vinyl group connecting two benzene rings to form the basic parent nucleus. Hydrogen atoms on different positions of the benzene rings can be substituted with hydroQxyl groups. These unique structural features confer anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant, anticancer, cardiovascular protective, and neuroprotective pharmacological effects upon these compounds. Numerous small molecule compounds have demonstrated these pharmacological activities in recent years, including Resveratrol, and Pterostilbene, etc. Tamoxifen and Raloxifene are FDA-approved commonly prescribed synthetic stilbene derivatives. The emphasis is on the potential of these small molecules and their structural derivatives as epigenetic regulators in various diseases. Stilbenes have been shown to modulate epigenetic marks, such as DNA methylation and histone modification, which can alter gene expression patterns and contribute to disease development. This review will discuss the mechanisms by which stilbenes regulate epigenetic marks in various diseases, as well as clinical trials, with a focus on the potential of small molecule and their derivatives such as Resveratrol, Pterostilbene, and Tamoxifen.

In order to explore the effect of Chlorella polysaccharide sulfation modification on biological activity, Chlorella sp.22 was used as experimental material in this study. The purified polysaccharide HDB-1 was obtained by extracting intracellular polysaccharides and separated and purified by DEAE-52 cellulose anion exchange column. The purified polysaccharide HDB-1 was sulfated to obtain SHDB-1. The antioxidant activity and antitumor activity of polysaccharides before and after sulfation modification were studied. The results showed that the purified component HDB-1 was mainly α-furanose. SHDB-1 was obtained by sulfation modification of HDB-1 by sulfur trioxide-pyridine method. Its degree of substitution was 1.046. The antioxidant activity results showed that the IC50 (semi-inhibitory concentration) values of HDB-1 and SHDB-1 DPPH radical clearance were 29.28 mg/mL and 14.49 mg/mL, respectively. The IC50 values of hydroxyl radical scavenging were 36.75 mg/mL and 28.59 mg/mL, respectively, indicating that the antioxidant effect of SHDB-1 was better than that of HDB-1. The antitumor results showed that HDB-1 and SHDB-1 were not toxic to cells at 1 mg/mL concentrations. The IC50 values of HDB-1 and SHDB-1 were 960.16 μg/mL and 658.19 μg/mL, respectively, indicating that SHDB-1 inhibited the proliferation of Hela in cervical cancer cells better than HDB-1. The above results show that compared with HDB-1, the antioxidant activity and in vitro inhibition of cancer cell proliferation of the sulfation-modified Chlorella intracellular polysaccharides SHDB-1 are significantly improved.

Abstract Chromosome rearrangements play an important role in the speciation of plants and animals, and the recognition of chromosome rearrangement patterns is helpful to elucidate the mechanism of species differentiation at the chromosome level. However, the existing chromosome rearrangement recognition methods have some major limitations, such as low quality, barriers to parental selection, and inability to identify specific rearrangement patterns. Based on the whole genome protein sequences, we constructed the combined figure according to the slope of the collinear fragment, the number of homologous genes, the coordinates in the top left and bottom right of the collinear fragment. The standardized combination figure is compared with the four standard pattern figures, and then combined with the information entropy analysis strategy to automatically classify the chromosome images and identify the chromosome rearrangement pattern. This paper proposes an automatic karyotype analysis method EntroCR (intelligent recognition method of chromosome rearrangement based on information entropy), which integrates rearrangement pattern recognition, result recommendation and related chromosome determination, so as to infer the evolution process of ancestral chromosomes to the existing chromosomes. Validation experiments were conducted using whole-genome data of Gossypium raimondii and Gossypium arboreum, Oryza sativa and Sorghum bicolor. The conclusions were consistent with previous results. EntroCR provides a reference for researchers in species evolution and molecular marker assisted breeding as well as new methods for analyzing karyotype evolution in other species.

Abstract Oxide heterostructures exhibit many intriguing properties. Here we provide design principles for inducing multiple topological states in (001) (A MO3)1/( $$AM^{\prime}$$ A M ′ O3)1 oxide superlattices. Aided by first-principles calculations and model analysis, we show that a (SrMO3)1/(Sr $$M^{\prime}$$ M ′ O3)1 superlattice (M = Nb, Ta and $$M^{\prime}$$ M ′ = Rh, Ir) is a strong topological insulator with Z 2 index (1;001). More remarkably, a (SrMoO3)1/(SrIrO3)1 superlattice exhibits multiple coexisting topological insulator (TI) and topological Dirac semi-metal (TDS) states. The TDS state has a pair of type-II Dirac points near the Fermi level and symmetry-protected Dirac node lines. The surface TDS Dirac cone is sandwiched by two surface TI Dirac cones in the energy-momentum space. The non-trivial topological properties arise from the band inversion between d orbitals of two dissimilar transition metal atoms and a particular parity property of (001) superlattice geometry. Our work demonstrates how to induce non-trivial topological states in (001) perovskite oxide heterostructures by rational design.

In order to improve the yield of crude polysaccharide from Chlorella vulgaris and explore the antioxidant effect of purified intracellular polysaccharide from Chlorella vulgaris, this study adopted the method of ultrasonic crushing and hot water extraction to extract intracellular crude polysaccharides from Chlorella vulgaris. Response surface method was used to optimize the extraction conditions. On this basis, anion exchange column and dextran gel column chromatography were used to separate and purify the extracted crude polysaccharides, and the characterization and antioxidant test were carried out. Response surface results showed that the optimal extraction conditions of intracellular crude polysaccharides from Chlorella vulgaris were as follows: The mass fraction of NaOH 2.0%, the material-liquid ratio 1:25 (g/mL), the ultrasonic power 200 W, the ultrasonic time 20 min, the extraction temperature 80 ℃, the extraction time 1.5 h. Under these conditions, the yield of intracellular crude polysaccharide was 18.086%±0.143%. The results of characterization and antioxidant activity in vitro showed that SCIP was a pyranose sugar containing uronic acid and was composed of glucose, rhamnose and galactose. At 20 mg/mL, the DPPH radical scavenging rate was the largest of 75.64%±1.56%, and at 25 mg/mL, the hydroxyl radical scavenging rate was the largest of 71.08%±0.58%. IC50 were 6.42 mg/mL and 8.59 mg/mL, respectively. The results provided a basis for further understanding of the physicochemical properties and biological activities of polysaccharides from Chlorella sp.

Objective: This study aims to examine the significance of utilizing three-dimensional (3D) image reconstruction technique in preoperative communication prior to partial nephrectomy (PN) and its impact on postoperative follow-up. Methods: A retrospective study was performed with 158 renal cancer patients treated with PN at our center from May 1, 2017 to April 30, 2019. 81 patients (group A) had preoperative communication using the 3D reconstruction technique, while 77 patients (group B) did not. The surgeon explained the anatomical structure, tumor characteristics, and surgical approach in detail to the two groups of patients. Each patient completed a questionnaire. The loss to follow-up rate over a 3-year period was counted for both groups, and non-cancer-related serious complications such as renal failure and cardio-cerebrovascular disease were observed. This research did not include patients who returned for follow-up care owing to associated complications such as postoperative chronic kidney disease. Comparisons between two groups were performed using the Mann–Whitney U test and chi-square test. Results: All patients showed no statistically significant differences in basic clinical parameters, such as age, gender, body mass index, tumor size, and R.E.N.A.L. score (P ​> ​0.05). In group A, patients were significantly more likely to experience understanding of renal anatomy (P ​= ​0.001), characteristics of renal cell carcinoma (P ​= ​0.003), surgical approach (P ​= ​0.007), and relief of preoperative anxiety (P ​= ​0.013). The follow-up adherence at 3 years postoperatively in group A and group B was 21 cases and 10 cases, respectively (P ​= ​0.041). In addition, glomerular filtration rate < 60 ​mL/min/1.73 ​m2 or serum creatinine > 186 ​μmol/L at 3 years after surgery occurred in 5 patients in group A and 13 in group B (P ​= ​0.034), and a systolic blood pressure rise greater than 20 ​mmHg occurred in 9 patients in group A and 18 in group B (P ​= ​0.041). Conclusions: The findings of this study suggest that the integration of 3D reconstruction techniques in preoperative communication effectively enhances patients’ understanding and perception of kidney tumors and PN. Moreover, the utilization of these techniques can contribute to the prevention of significant non-cancer-related complications during the postoperative phase.

As an important step in image processing, image segmentation can be used to determine the accuracy of object counts, and area and contour data. In addition, image segmentation is indispensable in seed testing research. Due to the uneven grey level of the original image, traditional watershed algorithms generate many incorrect edges, resulting in oversegmentation and undersegmentation, which affects the accuracy of obtaining seed phenotype information. The DMR-watershed algorithm, an improved watershed algorithm based on distance map reconstruction, is proposed in this paper. According to the grey distribution characteristics of the image, the grey reduction amplitude h was selected to generate the mask image with the same grey distribution trend as that of the original image. The original greyscale map was reconstructed with corresponding thresholds selected according to the false minima of different regions that are to be segmented, which generates an accurate distance map that eliminates the wrong edges. An adzuki bean (Vigna angularis L.) image was selected as the experimental material and the residual rate of the segmentation counting results of each algorithm was investigated in two cases of two-particle adhesion and multiparticle adhesion. The results of the proposed algorithm were compared with those of the traditional watershed algorithm, edge detection algorithm and concave point analysis algorithm which are commonly used for seed segmentation. In the case of two-particle adhesion, the residual rates of the watershed algorithm and edge detection algorithm were 0.233 and 0.275, respectively, while the residual rate of the concave point analysis algorithm was 0 which proved to be suitable for two-particle adhesion. In the case of multiparticle adhesion, the concave point analysis algorithm was not applicable because it would destroy the seed image. The residual rates of the watershed algorithm and edge detection algorithm were 0.063 and 0.188, respectively, while the residual rate of the proposed algorithm in the two-particle adhesion cases was 0 and the counting accuracy reached 100%, which proved the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. The algorithm in this paper significantly improves the accuracy of image segmentation of adherent seeds, and provides a new reference for image segmentation processing in seed testing.

To discuss the water consumption patterns of winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and the difference in yield traits among varieties under different irrigation systems, three field water treatments were established (jointing water, W1, CK; jointing water + flowering water, W2; and rising water + booting water + filling water, W3). Two winter wheat varieties (Hengmai4399 and Hengguan35) were selected in 2020–2021, and three (Hengmai4399, Hengguan35, and Hengmai28) were selected in 2021–2022 to investigate the impact of the irrigation amount on water consumption and its interaction with the varieties on yield traits of winter wheat. The results showed that there was a positive and significant correlation between soil water consumption and soil moisture reserve presowing; the correlation was the strongest in the 150–200 cm layer. The response of the yield of the three varieties to irrigation was Hengmai4399 > Hengmai28 > Hengguan35, and the drought resistance was Hengguan35 > Hengmai28 > Hengmai4399. When the soil water storage presowing was insufficient, Hengmai4399 combined with the W3 treatment achieved the highest yield and water use efficiency; when the soil water storage presowing was sufficient, Hengmai28 combined with the W2 treatment achieved a high-level yield and the highest WUE.

Polyploidization plays a critical role in producing new gene functions and promoting species evolution. Effective identification of polyploid types can be helpful in exploring the evolutionary mechanism. However, current methods for detecting polyploid types have some major limitations, such as being time-consuming and strong subjectivity, etc. In order to objectively and scientifically recognize collinearity fragments and polyploid types, we developed PolyReco method, which can automatically label collinear regions and recognize polyploidy events based on the KS dotplot. Combining with whole-genome collinearity analysis, PolyReco uses DBSCAN clustering method to cluster KS dots. According to the distance information in the x-axis and y-axis directions between the categories, the clustering results are merged based on certain rules to obtain the collinear regions, automatically recognize and label collinear fragments. According to the information of the labeled collinear regions on the y-axis, the polyploidization recognition algorithm is used to exhaustively combine and obtain the genetic collinearity evaluation index of each combination, and then draw the genetic collinearity evaluation index graph. Based on the inflection point on the graph, polyploid types and related chromosomes with polyploidy signal can be detected. The validation experiments showed that the conclusions of PolyReco were consistent with the previous study, which verified the effectiveness of this method. It is expected that this approach can become a reference architecture for other polyploid types classification methods.

We conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy of low-intensity extracorporeal shock wave therapy (LI-ESWT) in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). From July 2011 to June 2021, we finally selected 16 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) including 1,064 participants to evaluate the efficacy of LI-ESWT in the treatment of ED from PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane databases. The data are analyzed by Review Manager Version 5.4. Fifteen articles mentioned International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF), in the follow-up of 1 month (mean difference [MD] = 3.18, 95% confidence interval [CI] = [1.38, 4.98], p = .0005), 3 months (MD = 3.01, 95% CI = [2.04, 3.98], p < .00001), and 6 months (MD = 3.20, 95% CI = [2.49, 3.92], p < .00001). After treatment, the improvement of IIEF in the LI-ESWT group was better than that in the control group. Besides, eight of the 16 trials provided data on the proportion of patients with baseline Erectile Hardness Score (EHS) ≤ 2 improved to EHS ≥ 3. The LI-ESWT group was also significantly better than the placebo group (odds ratio [OR] = 5.07, 95% CI = [1.78, 14.44], p = .002). The positive response rate of Questions 2 and 3 of the Sexual Encounter Profile (SEP) was not statistically significant (SEP2: OR = 1.27, 95% CI = [0.70, 2.30], p = .43; SEP3: OR = 4.24, 95% CI = [0.67, 26.83], p = .13). The results of this meta-analysis suggest that treatment plans with an energy density of 0.09 mJ/mm 2 and pulses number of 1,500 to 2,000 are more beneficial to IIEF in ED patients. In addition, IIEF improvement was more pronounced in patients with moderate ED after extracorporeal shockwave therapy.

The curvature feature makes the irradiance and absorptivity change, resulting in an uneven power density distribution, which affects the quality of composite parts. In this study, a theoretical model-based Super-Gaussian profile beam in the laser irradiation area was established to obtain the heat flux distribution on the curved surface. The effect of curvature on the surface scattering reflection, temperature distribution, and surface morphology were investigated and verified the validity of the theoretical model. Furthermore, the influence of the laser intensity distribution, laser inclination and curvature radius on the power density distribution and distribution uniformity were studied. Research indicated that the power density increases as the distance from the origin increase resulting from the variation of the irradiance and absorptance along the circumference. The flatter the intensity distribution of the laser beam in the height direction, the less uniform the power density distribution. Accordingly, the typical Gaussian profile beam significantly ameliorates the power density distribution. This research provides a novel understanding of using heat sources during laser heating thermoplastic tape placement.

The residual stress plays an important role in composite flywheel rotors composed of filament windings. The fiber tension during high-prestressed winding is the main source of the rotor deformation and residual stress of composite layers. In this study, the effect of the winding tension gradient on deformation was monitored in real-time. Two types of in-plane winding tension fluctuation methods were developed to investigate the effect of tension on deformation. Online and offline measurements were performed for the strain acquisition. A wireless strain instrument was used for online deformation monitoring and a laser scanner was used for the offline surface reconstruction. Additionally, different filament winding strategies were carried out to improve the efficiency of the winding tension by finite element analysis. The results indicated that the deviation between numerical and experimental results was within 8%. Based on the proposed numerical method, the influence of the in-plane and out-of-plane winding tension gradient distributions on the rotation process of the H-shaped rotor was analyzed. An in-plane winding strategy with variable tension was developed, which increased the initial failure speed by 160%.

As a key component to ensure the safety and stability of the surface-mounted permanent magnet motor rotor, stress research on the sleeve has long been a subject that has attracted researchers. Fiber-reinforced composite materials have the characteristics of high specific strength, high specific modulus, and low eddy current loss. The use of a fiber-reinforced composite material sleeve that can effectively reduce the thickness of the sleeve and structural weight, and can improve the power density of the motor is an inevitable trend of the development of high-performance permanent magnet motors. This paper summarizes the matching of fibers and resins of composite materials to the sleeve: the stress design criteria, stress calculation method, and stress influencing factors of the composite sleeve; two typical stress-forming methods of the composite sleeve; and the preloading effect of the sleeve, strength, and rotor prototype performance testing. This paper focuses on the application of tension winding technology in sleeve forming. Based on the characteristics of composite material layer synthesis, this method has the advantages of high forming efficiency, small forming damage, easy realization of stress design, and a high preloading effect. This method can meet the sleeve-forming requirements of high-performance, large-scale, high-speed permanent magnet motors. However, the application of the new high-performance material system in the existing research is insufficient, the research on the technological factors in the tension winding process is scarce, and the performance testing method after the sleeve preparation is single, which needs further research.

A new type insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) with electron injection (EI-IGBT) is proposed in which an N+-buried layer is implemented in P-base region. The mechanism of the EI-IGBT is that electrons are injected in both OFF- and ON-state, thus accelerated electron-hole recombination is achieved, resulting in a fast turn-off process. Meanwhile, a low forward voltage drop is obtained due to an enhanced conductivity modulation. The simulation results show that, compared with the conventional IGBT, the proposed EI-IGBT delivers a comparable breakdown voltage while featuring an 80% shorter turn-off time (or a 72% lower turn-off loss) or a 23% lower forward voltage drop, resulting in a reduction of total energy loss.

In this study, the exopolysaccharides of Chlorella sp. (CEP) were isolated to obtain the purified fraction CEP4. Characterization results showed that CEP4 was a sulfated heteropolysaccharide. The main monosaccharide components of CEP4 are glucosamine hydrochloride (40.8%) and glucuronic acid (21.0%). The impact of CEP4 on the immune activity of RAW264.7 macrophage cytokines was detected, and the results showed that CEP4 induced the production of nitric oxide (NO), TNF-α, and IL-6 in a dose-dependent pattern within a range of 6 μg/mL. A total of 4824 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were obtained from the results of RNA-seq. Gene enrichment analysis showed that immune-related genes such as NFKB1, IL-6, and IL-1β were significantly upregulated, while the genes RIPK1 and TLR4 were significantly downregulated. KEGG pathway enrichment analysis showed that DEGs were significantly enriched in immune-related biological processes, including toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling pathway, cytosolic DNA-sensing pathway, and C-type lectin receptor signaling pathway. Protein–protein interaction (PPI) network analysis showed that HSP90AB1, Rbx1, ISG15, Psmb6, Psmb3, Psmb8, PSMA7, Polr2f, Rpsa, and NEDD8 were the hub genes with an essential role in the immune activity of CEP4. The preliminary results of the present study revealed the potential mechanism of CEP4 in the immune regulation of RAW264.7 macrophages, suggesting that CEP4 is a promising immunoregulatory agent.

The effect of irradiation temperature on the microstructure, hardness, and corrosion resistance of 316L stainless steels (SS) fabricated by the selective laser melting (SLM) process was investigated to further understand the radiation degradation of the additive manufactured steels. The Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) results confirmed the cellular sub-grains and the high-density dislocation networks present in the SLM formed 316L SS. After exposing samples to Fe11+ ions irradiation till 1 dpa at room temperature, the ultra-fine sub-grain structure maintains its configuration, but the dislocations were observed expanding from the vicinity of the sub-grain boundaries into the grains. In contrast, the expanding phenomenon of dislocations was insignificant in samples irradiated at 450 °C. The average size of dislocation loops increased from 6 to 8.5 nm when the irradiation temperature increased, with the number density decreased from 2.7 × 1022/m3 to 1.3 × 1022/m3. This study reveals that the reduced dislocation loop density and distribution region caused by the improved temperature will suppress the radiation hardening and corrosion of SLM 316L SSs.
