Abstract

Development of the nervous system amongst Drosophila melanogaster is experience-dependent. Mate choice is mediated by visual exposure history. Those pairs of flies that share a common visual exposure history have a higher reproductive success rate than pairs with a dissimilar exposure history. Thus, non-genetic factors have a role in mating success amongst Drosophila melanogaster.
