Abstract

BackgroundThe endocannabinoids are emerging as natural brain protective substances that exert potentially beneficial effects in several neurological disorders by virtue of their hypothermic, immunomodulatory, vascular, antioxidant, and antiapoptotic actions. This study was undertaken to assess whether preventing the deactivation of the endocannabinoid 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) with the monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL) inhibitor URB602 can provide neuroprotective effects in hypoxia-ischemia (HI)-induced brain injury.MethodsURB602 was administered into the right lateral ventricle 30 min before 7-day-old pup rats were subjected to HI. The neuroprotective effect was evaluated on postnatal day (PN) 14 or at adulthood (PN80) using behavioral and histological analyses. Activated caspase-3 expression and propidium iodide labeling were assessed as indexes of apoptotic and necrotic cell death, respectively.ResultsPretreatment with URB602 reduced apoptotic and necrotic cell death, as well as the infarct volume measured at PN14. At adulthood, URB602-treated HI animals performed better at the T-maze and the Morris maze, and also showed a significant reduction of brain damage.ConclusionThese results demonstrate that a pretreatment with URB602 significantly reduces brain damage and improves functional outcome, indicating that endocannabinoid-degrading enzymes may represent an important target for neuroprotection in neonatal ischemic brain injury.

Abstract

The need for new and effective treatments for neonates suffering from hypoxia–ischemia is urgent, as the only implemented therapy in clinics is therapeutic hypothermia, only effective in 50% of cases. Cannabinoids may modulate neuronal development and brain plasticity, but further investigation is needed to better describe their implication as a neurorestorative therapy after neonatal HI. The cannabinoid URB447, a CB1 antagonist/CB2 agonist, has previously been shown to reduce brain injury after HI, but it is not clear whether sex may affect its neuroprotective and/or neurorestorative effect. Here, URB447 strongly reduced brain infarct, improved neuropathological score, and augmented proliferative capacity and neurogenic response in the damaged hemisphere. When analyzing these effects by sex, URB447 ameliorated brain damage in both males and females, and enhanced cell proliferation and the number of neuroblasts only in females, thus suggesting a neuroprotective effect in males and a double neuroprotective/neurorestorative effect in females. 14. PP84 Developing The Network For The Future Of Healthcare Through Telemedicine-Driven Diagnostic Innovation.

Abstract

Introduction: The healthcare digital landscape has evolved and is crucial in shaping strategies for fortifying the health system, specifically in building a network for the future of health services. There is also considerable interest in digital health to facilitate innovation and access to health services in underserved hospitals. This study has evaluated the results of a telemedicine-driven diagnostic network in remote Paraguayan hospitals. Methods: This is a descriptive study, where the results using a digital telemedicine-driven diagnosis innovation in remote public hospitals were evaluated as a tool to improve equity and accessibility of specialized diagnostic services countrywide. For these purposes, the type and frequency of diagnosis performed through a digital telemedicine platform was determined. Results: During the study, a futuristic telemedicine-driven diagnostic innovation was implemented in 67 hospitals countrywide. The digital telediagnosis network facilitated tele-electrocardiography (ECG), teletomography, tele-electroencephalography (EEG), tele-Holter and tele-ABPM (ambulatory blood pressure monitoring). The implemented digital telemedicine network has performed 828,073 tests in total between 2013 and 2023. The most performed diagnoses were ECG (543,815 tests) followed by teletomography (266,750 tests), EEG (17,418 tests), Holter (43 tests), and ABPM (28 tests). Conclusions: According to our results, the telemedicine-driven diagnostic innovation network facilitates faster and more equitable access to tertiary-level diagnostic services for patients in remote underserved public hospitals in Paraguay. 15. PP83 Building Resilient Capacity For The Diagnosis Of Cardiac Pathologies Through Telemedicine: Pilot Study.

Abstract

Introduction: The evolution of technology in medicine and information and communication technology (ICT) has been an important step to introduce innovative/resilient specialized health services. The emergence of telemedicine offers opportunities to enhance specialized diagnosis services. This study has evaluated the feasibility of using tele-Holter and tele-ABPM (ambulatory blood pressure monitoring) to build a resilient diagnosis network for cardiac pathologies in Paraguayan remote public hospitals. Methods: This observational descriptive multicenter feasibility study is based on a telemedicine-driven approach for specialized cardiac diagnostic services using Holter and ABPM devices in remote and underserved public hospitals in Paraguay. A telemedicine platform was used to send records of Holter and ABPM devices from the remote hospitals to the cardiologist to screen cardiac pathologies. Results: During the pilot study, 52 cardiac diagnostic tests were carried out using the tele-Holter and tele-ABPM approach in 10 regional hospitals countrywide. Cardiac diagnosis was performed in 24 patients using Holter and 28 patients using ABPM. The most frequent findings using tele-Holter were normal (91.6%), not sustained ventricular tachycardia (4.2%), and atrial fibrillation (4.2%). Regarding tele-ABPM, the diagnoses performed were arterial hypertension (50.0%), uncontrolled arterial hypertension (40.0%), and normal (10.0%). Overall, an average of 90.0 percent of diagnosed patients suffered high blood pressure and 8.4 percent suffered heart disorder. Conclusions: According to our results, the use of a telemedicine-driven approach to build a resilient diagnosis network for cardiac pathologies in remote underserved public hospitals in Paraguay is feasible. 133 p. El arte en muchas instituciones educativas ha permanecido ajeno a las realidades del medio y no se le ha dado la importancia que realmente tiene. Son diversos los factores, entre ellos el económico y las decisiones académicas, ya que las instituciones no cuentan con aulas especiales para el desarrollo de las actividades artísticas y pocas veces se dota con elementos necesarios para las clases. El estudio pretende responder el interrogante: ¿Cómo mediante la descripción de los procesos artísticos se puede fomentar el pensamiento crítico en los estudiantes de la básica secundaria de la institución educativa San José del Quemado de Cereté, Córdoba? y para hallar las respuestas se trazó un objetico principal: Describir los procesos artísticos que fomenten el pensamiento crítico en los estudiantes de la básica secundaria de la institución educativa San José del quemado del municipio de Cereté, Córdoba. La investigación se desarrolló mediante el enfoque cualitativo abordando el tema mediante el tipo investigación – acción. La población objeto de investigación estuvo representada por los estudiantes de los grados 6°. 7°, 8° y 9°, ambos géneros, utilizando en este aspecto el tipo de muestreo aleatorio estratificado. Se utilizaron dos instrumentos de investigación que generaron los resultados, dentro de los cuales se puede mencionar el acceso a la información socioeconómica y a los puntajes para evaluar el pensamiento crítico de estudiantes. Se concluyó que es posible, perfeccionar la capacidad crítica en los estudiantes mediante una formación procedente en la que el arte visual, potencie la capacidad de pensamiento crítico y puedan alcanzarse una cosmovisión del entorno personal, familiar y social. Art in many educational institutions has remained oblivious to the realities of the environment and has not been given the importance it really has. The factors are diverse, including economic and academic decisions, since the institutions do not have special classrooms for the development of artistic activities and are rarely provided with necessary elements for classes. The study aims to answer the question: ¿How can the critical thinking in students of the secondary school of the educational institution San José del Quemado of Cereté, Córdoba? be encouraged through the description of artistic processes, and to find the answers an objective was drawn Main: Describe the artistic processes that foster critical thinking in the students of the secondary school of the San José del Quemado educational institution in the municipality of Cereté, Córdoba. The research was developed through the qualitative approach addressing the issue through the type of research - action. The population under investigation was represented by 6th grade students. 7th, 8th and 9th, both genders, using in this aspect the type of stratified random sampling. Two research instruments that generated the results were used, among which access to socioeconomic information and scores can be mentioned to assess the critical thinking of students. It was concluded that it is possible to improve the critical capacity in students through a training in which visual art enhances the capacity for critical thinking and can achieve a worldview of personal, family and social environment.

Abstract

One of the most important causes of brain injury in the neonatal period is a perinatal hypoxic-ischemic event. This devastating condition can lead to long-term neurological deficits or even death. After hypoxic-ischemic brain injury, a variety of specific cellular mechanisms are set in motion, triggering cell damage and finally producing cell death. Effective therapeutic treatments against this phenomenon are still unavailable because of complex molecular mechanisms underlying hypoxic-ischemic brain injury. After a thorough understanding of the mechanism underlying neural plasticity following hypoxic-ischemic brain injury, various neuroprotective therapies have been developed for alleviating brain injury and improving long-term outcomes. Among them, the endocannabinoid system emerges as a natural system of neuroprotection. The endocannabinoid system modulates a wide range of physiological processes in mammals and has demonstrated neuroprotective effects in different paradigms of acute brain injury, acting as a natural neuroprotectant. The aim of this review is to study the use of different therapies to induce long-term therapeutic effects after hypoxic-ischemic brain injury, and analyze the important role of the endocannabinoid system as a new neuroprotective strategy against perinatal hypoxic-ischemic brain injury.

Abstract

El presente informe muestra un caso de éxito llevado a cabo en la minera Southern Perú la cual es una de las más antiguas e importante minera del país. En el capítulo I a través del diagnóstico estratégico y funcional podemos identificar y conocer todo acerca de esta empresa: sus objetivos, metas, valores y como está organizada y opera para llegar a cumplir y mantener sus metas y objetivos. Así también, identificamos los procesos que comprende su ciclo productivo del cobre. En el capítulo II, hacemos mención a los principales conceptos y definiciones sobre inteligencia de negocios y costos, los cuales fueron nuestro marco teórico para el desarrollo de este proyecto. En el capítulo III, se hace un análisis del problema que tenía Southern cuando quería efectuar un análisis más detallado de sus costos operativos para tomar decisiones importantes. Vemos que se describe el problema y se identifica el origen de este problema. Luego, se muestran las alternativas que se plantearon en su momento y el proceso de la elección de la mejor alternativa a través de un proceso de decisión de toma de decisiones. En el capítulo IV se muestra cómo se llevó a cabo la gestión de esta solución que involucra el desarrollo de un cubo de información y la explotación de esta información por los usuarios finales a través de QLikview que es una potente herramienta de consultas y análisis de información. En el capítulo V se muestran los resultados obtenidos y además un cuadro comparativo comparando la situación antes y después de llevado a cabo el proyecto.
