User counterparts, such as user attributes in social networks or user interests, are the keys to more natural Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). In addition, users' attributes and social structures help us understand the complex interactions in HCI. Most previous studies have been based on supervised learning to improve the performance of HCI. However, in the real world, owing to signal malfunctions in user devices, large amounts of abnormal information, unlabeled data, and unsupervised approaches (e.g., the clustering method) based on mining user attributes are particularly crucial. This paper focuses on improving the clustering performance of users' attributes in HCI and proposes a deep graph embedding network with feature and structure similarity (called DGENFS) to cluster users' attributes in HCI applications based on feature and structure similarity. The DGENFS model consists of a Feature Graph Autoencoder (FGA) module, a Structure Graph Attention Network (SGAT) module, and a Dual Self-supervision (DSS) module. First, we design an attributed graph clustering method to divide users into clusters by making full use of their attributes. To take full advantage of the information of human feature space, a k-neighbor graph is generated as a feature graph based on the similarity between human features. Then, the FGA and SGAT modules are utilized to extract the representations of human features and topological space, respectively. Next, an attention mechanism is further developed to learn the importance weights of different representations to effectively integrate human features and social structures. Finally, to learn cluster-friendly features, the DSS module unifies and integrates the features learned from the FGA and SGAT modules. DSS explores the high-confidence cluster assignment as a soft label to guide the optimization of the entire network. Extensive experiments are conducted on five real-world data sets on user attribute clustering. Recent advancements in intelligent surveillance systems for video analysis have been a topic of great interest in the research community due to the vast number of applications to monitor humans’ activities. The growing demand for these systems aims towards automatic violence detection (VD) systems enhancing and comforting human lives through artificial neural networks (ANN) and machine intelligence. Extremely overcrowded regions such as subways, public streets, banks, and the industries need such automatic VD system to ensure safety and security in the smart city. For this purpose, researchers have published extensive VD literature in the form of surveys, proposals, and extensive reviews. Existing VD surveys are limited to a single domain of study, i.e., coverage of VD for non-surveillance or for person-to-person data only. To deeply examine and contribute to the VD arena, we survey and analyze the VD literature into a single platform that highlights the working flow of VD in terms of machine learning strategies, neural networks (NNs)-based patterns analysis, limitations in existing VD articles, and their source details. Further, we investigate VD in terms of surveillance datasets and VD applications and debate on the challenges faced by researchers using these datasets. We comprehensively discuss the evaluation strategies and metrics for VD methods. Data centers are being distributed worldwide by cloud service providers (CSPs) to save energy costs through efficient workload allocation strategies. Many CSPs are challenged by the significant rise in user demands due to their extensive energy consumption during workload processing. Numerous research studies have examined distinct operating cost mitigation techniques for geo-distributed data centers (DCs). However, operating cost savings during workload processing, which also considers stringmatching techniques in geo-distributed DCs, remains unexplored. In this research, we propose a novel string matching-based geographical load balancing (SMGLB) technique to mitigate the operating cost of the geo-distributed DC. The primary goal of this study is to use a string-matching algorithm (i.e., Boyer Moore) to compare the contents of incoming workloads to those of documents that have already been processed in a data center. A successful match prevents the global load balancer from sending the user’s request to a data center for processing and displaying the results of the previously processed workload to the user to save energy. On the contrary, if no match can be discovered, the global load balancer will allocate the incoming workload to a specific DC for processing considering variable energy prices, the number of active servers, on-site green energy, and traces of incoming workload. The results of numerical evaluations show that the SMGLB can minimize the operating expenses of the geo-distributed data centers more than the existing workload distribution techniques. Cities have undergone numerous permanent transformations at times of severe disruption. The Lisbon earthquake of 1755, for example, sparked the development of seismic construction rules. In 1848, when cholera spread through London, the first health law in the United Kingdom was passed. The Chicago fire of 1871 led to stricter building rules, which led to taller skyscrapers that were less likely to catch fire. Along similar lines, the COVID-19 epidemic may have a lasting effect, having pushed the global shift towards greener, more digital, and more inclusive cities. The pandemic highlighted the significance of smart/remote healthcare. Specifically, the elderly delayed seeking medical help for fear of contracting the infection. As a result, remote medical services were seen as a key way to keep healthcare services running smoothly. When it comes to both human and environmental health, cities play a critical role. By concentrating people and resources in a single location, the urban environment generates both health risks and opportunities to improve health. In this manuscript, we have identified the most common mental disorders and their prevalence rates in cities. We have also identified the factors that contribute to the development of mental health issues in urban spaces. Through careful analysis, we have found that multimodal feature fusion is the best method for measuring and analysing multiple signal types in real time. However, when utilizing multimodal signals, the most important issue is how we might combine them; this is an area of burgeoning research interest. To this end, we have highlighted ways to combine multimodal features for detecting and predicting mental issues such as anxiety, mood state recognition, suicidal tendencies, and substance abuse.
