Diseases were schizophrenia, psychosis, epilepsy, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder.Results: Of 1420 abstracts screened, 12 studies were included. Adherence measures included Medication Event Monitoring System (MEMS®), medication possession ratio, medication persistence, and refill adherence. Three schizophrenia and one epilepsy study used MEMS, and all showed a trend towards higher adherence rates with less frequent dosing regimens. Three depression and one schizophrenia study used the medication possession ratio; the pooled odds ratio of being adherent was 89% higher (ie, 1.89, 95% credibility limits 1.71–2.09) on once-daily versus twice-daily dosing. Two studies in depression and one in all bupropion patients assessed medication persistence and refill adherence. The pooled odds ratio for the two depression studies using medication persistence was 2.10 (95% credibility limits 1.86–2.37) for once-daily versus twice-daily dosing. For refill adherence after 9 months, 65%–75% of patients on once-daily versus 56% on twice-daily dosing had at least one refill. In all but one of the studies using other measures of adherence, adherence rates were higher with once-daily dosing compared with more frequent dosing regimens. No relevant studies were identified for bipolar disorder or psychosis.Conclusion: Differences in study design and adherence measures used across the studies were too large to allow pooling of all results. Despite these differences, there was a consistent trend of better adherence with less frequent dosing.Keywords: adherence, dosing frequency, schizophrenia, epilepsy, depression

2. Preparation of Nd–Fe–B Films via a Low-Temperature Process

Abstract

Despite reports of sputtering-fabricated Nd–Fe–B films having outstanding magnetic properties, the films necessitate an annealing process that includes substrate heating and/or post-annealing. This research prepares Nd–Fe–B films using a low-temperature process. Specifically, we used a laser-induced forward-transfer (LIFT) technique that employs Nd–Fe–B thick films fabricated using pulsed laser deposition (PLD). LIFT-made films with a dotted pattern could be obtained by using an optical shatter and Galvano scanner. We could succeed in transferring Nd2Fe14B phase from a target to a LIFT-made film, and films with coercivity exceeding 200 kA/m could be successfully prepared without an annealing process.

Abstract

In this paper, the relationship between the initial crystalline behavior and annealing conditions in pulsed laser deposition (PLD)-made Nd-Fe-B and Pr-Fe-B films with rare-earth-rich composition is discussed. The films with rare-earth-rich compositions are prepared via PLD. An annealing process is necessary to obtain the crystalline 2-14-1 phase of hard magnetic properties because all the as-deposited films have an amorphous structure. In conventional annealing, the initial crystallization of the Pr2Fe14B phase occurred at lower temperatures compared with that of the Nd2Fe14B phase, indicating that the annealing temperature of the initial crystallization of the Pr2Fe14B phase was lower than that of the Nd2Fe14B phase. Considering the same crystallization temperature in both the phases, the melting points of both rare-earth elements, Nd and Pr, are considered to relate to the initial crystallization behavior. 14. Brachinite-Like Clast in the Kaidun Meteorite: First Report of Primitive Achondrite Material

Abstract

Kaidun is a brecciated meteorite containing many different types of meteorites. It is composed of carbonaceous, enstatite, ordinary and R chondrites with smaller amounts of basaltic achondrites, impact melt products and unknown [1, 2]. Because of the multiple components and high abundance of carbonaceous chondrites, the Kaidun parent body was probably a large C-type asteroid in order to have accumulated clasts of many unrelated asteroids, and thus Kaidun contains previously unknown materials[1]. It has been suggested that the Kaidun parent body trawled through different regions of the solar system [3], but the formation of Kaidun meteorite is still uncertain. In this abstract, we report the first discovery of a brachinite-like clast in Kaidun.

Abstract

Dark inclusions (DIs) in chondrites and achondrites are dark gray to black fragments that include a wide variety of materials that have experienced very different petrologic histories. Based on the law of inclusions, they are rocks that accreted prior to and are older than their host meteorites and possibly rep-resent an earlier generation of material. The origin of these inclusions and their relationship to their host meteorites is not always clear. They are interesting in that they represent lithologies that experienced different parent body histories than their host meteorites and are either exotic components or originated from different regions of the meteorite parent body. In many cases, DIs in CV chondrites have been altered to greater degrees than their host meteorites suggesting pre accretionary alteration [e.g., 1,2,3]. There is debate concerning whether or not these DIs record an earlier era of aqueous alteration and subsequent thermal metamorphism, and how these processes may have also affected the host CV materials. The present study is a description of a dark inclusion found in the Leoville meteorite (specifically, thin section USNM 3535-1). This inclusion has some interesting features that have considerable relevance for this discussion.

Abstract

We have investigated the local Fe electronic changes in the square planar Fe(II) compound SrFeO2 by x-ray emission (XES) and x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) through the pressure-induced spin transition up to 60 GPa. The analysis of Fe Kβ XES confirms the transition under pressure from a high spin to intermediate spin state at Pc = 43 GPa while XAS at the Fe K-edge reveals the spectral signatures of the lattice compression under pressure. Simulations of the XAS spectra point to significant changes in Fe p-d states across Pc through the hybridization with the O p states eventually leading to the magnetic instability.
