A diabetic foot ulcer is one of diabetes mellitus type 2 complications indicated by open sores. Because it contains bacteria, it is treated with antibiotics. Improper use of antibiotics could harm patients due to the length of wound healing. This study aims to determine the appropriate of antibiotics in patients with a diabetic foot ulcers. This is a non-experimental research with descriptive analysis approach. The medical records of diabetic foot ulcer patients undergoing inpatient and antibiotic prescribing are observed. The data obtained were analyzed by comparing the use of antibiotics based on the National Health Service guidelines, the Indonesian National Drug Information, and the Drug Information Handbook. The results of this study showed antibiotics used are metronidazole (4.8%), vancomycin (4.8%) and antibiotics combination are ceftriaxone-metronidazole (47.6%), ceftriaxone-metronidazole-clindamycin (4,8%), levofloxacin-azithromycin-ceftriaxone (4.8%), cotrimoxazole-ciprofloxacin (4.8%), metronidazole-meropenem (4.8%), ceftriaxone-metronidazole-gentamicin (4.8%), metronidazole-clindamycin-ciprofloxacin (4.8%), ceftriaxone-levofloxacin (4.8%), and ceftriaxone-metronidazole-ciprofloxacin (9.5%). The evaluation results according to criteria appropriate usage of antibiotics that is 100% appropriate indication, 100% for appropriate of patients, 42.3% for appropriate drug, and 61.9% for the appropriate dose.

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Tuberculosis will cause pain and death if not treated properly. OAT (Antituberculosis Drugs) is a treatment for tuberculosis patients. OAT has different dosage regimens and types of drugs. Treatment of TB patients consists of two phases (intensive and continuation phases). The continuation phase was at to kill dormant bacteria to prevent recurrence in patients. The purpose of this study was to determine and evaluate the pattern of using OAT in patients newly diagnosed rwith smear-positive at the continuation phase. This study is an observational descriptive study with results showing that the pattern of using OAT-KDT in patients was 89% and OAT-Separated was 11%. The pattern of using the OAT-KDT dose was 1x3 2KDT tablets. Another combination of antibiotics given to the patient is cotrimoxazole at a dose of 1x960mg. The side effect of OAT is an increase in serum transaminase and nausea each with a percentage of 23%. Based on the research, it can be concluded that the pattern of using OAT in Tuberculosis patients has followed the guidelines for the management of Tuberculosis treatment.

Understanding the knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) towards antibiotics with a valid and reliable questionnaire is essential to design an intervention to minimize misuse and overuse of antibiotics in the general community setting. This study aimed to develop and validate knowledge, attitude, and practice towards antibiotics questionnaire (KAPAQ). This study consists of the development and validation phase. The development questionnaire was based on a literature review, early individual interviews, and panel experts. The validation phase consisted of face, content, and construct validity. Content validity ratio (CVR) and content validity index (CVI) was used to analyze Content validity. Construct validity for attitude and practice was measured using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Item analysis was employed for knowledge evaluation. Reliability was evaluated with internal consistency reliability and test-retest reliability. Validity and reliability were assessed using 407 respondents. The final KAPAQ consisted of three domains with 45 items. Items’ difficulty and discrimination index in the knowledge domain was acceptable, with the Cronbach’s α and test-retest reliability being 0.827 and 0.713, respectively. Four factor-solutions emerged for the attitude and practice domain with a cumulative contribution of 59.79% and 58.99%, respectively. The CFA result indicated acceptable fit indices for the proposed model. Every factor in both attitude and practice domain had an acceptable internal consistency and test-retest reliability range. The KAPAQ was psychometric valid and reliable to assess KAP among the general community towards antibiotics.

Objective: To develop a valid and reliable questionnaire about knowledge, attitudes, and practices towards Covid-19 (KAPCovQ) in the general community based on psychometric properties. Methods: This study consisted of item development, scale development, and scale evaluation. Item development was based on literature review and content validity by experts. Scale development was conducted by pre-testing ten respondents. Scale evaluation was assessed using 375 respondents. Scale evaluation included construct validity with exploratory factor analysis (EFA) followed by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and reliability test with Cronbach’s α, composite reliability, and test-retest reliability. Results: The final KAPCovQ consisted of 3 domains with 31 items. Twelve items of the knowledge domain met the acceptable range for item analysis. Three factors of attitude domain and one factor of practice domain showed that 59.13% and 57.97% of the total variance respectively were identified in EFA. The result of the CFA for both attitude and practices domain indicated acceptable fit indices for the proposed model. The CFA model fit indices of attitude domain were χ2/df 2.05, p-value 0.01, GFI 0.92, RMSEA 0.07, TLI 0.90, CFI 0.92, and PNFI 0.64 and practices domain were χ2/df 1.18, p-value 0.28, GFI 0.98, RMSEA 0.03, TLI 0.98, CFI 0.99, and PNFI 0.54. Knowledge and all factors in the attitude and practice domain had an acceptable range in internal consistency reliability and test-retest reliability. Conclusion: The finding of this study demonstrated that KAPCovQ is valid and reliable for measuring the KAP on Covid-19 in the general community.

The COVID-19 pandemic globally impacted physical, spiritual, and mental health (MH). The consequences significantly affected students’ quality of life (QoL) too. This cross-sectional study assessed MH status and its relationship to the QoL of college students in Indonesia. This study collected data (September 2021–April 2022) online using the depression, anxiety, and stress scale-21 (DASS-21) to measure MH and the world health organization quality-of-life scale (WHOQoL-BREF) to measure the QoL. The data were analysed using SPSS with a bivariate and multivariate linear regression test. A total of 606 respondents participated in this study, with the majority being women (81.0%), aged 21–27 years (44.3%), and unmarried (98.5%) respondents. We observed 24.4% (n = 148) moderate depression, 18.3% (n = 111) very severe anxiety, and 21.1% (n = 128) moderate stress status. The QoL measurement determined that a moderate QoL in the physical and environmental health domains (>70%) and poor QoL in the psychological health domain (58.3%) were found. Gender, age, family support, history of COVID-19 diagnosis, family with COVID-19 diagnosis, vaccination status, and physical symptoms are significantly associated with MH status and QoL (p-value < 0.05). This study demonstrated that COVID-19 was negatively related to college students’ MH and QoL. Targeted interventions may be needed to ameliorate both MH and QoL.

Objective: Antibiotic resistance is a serious problem worldwide. One cause of antibacterial resistance is the inappropriate use of antibiotics. Thestudy of antibiotic use in hospitals found that 30–80% were not based on indications. Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs (ASP) was developed tocontrol antimicrobial resistance. This study aims to evaluate the impact of ASP in pneumonia patients qualitatively and quantitatively pre-post ASPapplied.Methods: This research is a non-experimental study. Data were taken from the medical records of pneumonia patients and analyzed qualitativelyusing the Gyssens method and quantitatively using the Defined Daily Dose (DDD) method. Sampling was conducted through purposive sampling andresults were described descriptively.Results: During the study period, 96 samples were obtained with 48 data pre-ASP and 48 data post-ASP. The results of the qualitative analysis usingthe Gyssens method show an increase in the prudent use of antibiotics from 31.25% to 62.5% pre-post ASP, respectively. Quantitative evaluationshows a decrease of antibiotic use pre-post ASP from 90.84 DDD/100 patients-days to 61.42 DDD/100 patients-days.Conclusion: The ASP can improve the quality of antibiotic use in pneumonia patients quantitatively and qualitatively.

Obat tetes mata merupakan salah satu sediaan steril yang berupa larutan atau suspensi. Pengetahuan sebagian masyarakat terkait obat tetes mata masih kurang. Program DAGUSIBU (dapatkan, gunakan, simpan, buang) obat yang diprakarsai oleh Ikatan Apoteker Indonesia (IAI) merupakan salah satu srategi dalam mencapai pengetahuan, pemahaman dan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap penggunaan obat dengan benar. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penyuluhan terhadap pengetahuan masyarakat tentang cara mendapatkan, menggunakan, menyimpan, dan membuang obat tetes mata dengan benar. Penyuluhan dilakukan melalui media sosial Instagram yang berupa video edukasi animasi yang berdurasi 2 menit 09 detik. Sebelum dan setelah menyaksikan video penyuluhan, responden diminta untuk mengisi kuesioner yang diberikan melaui google form. Data pre-test dan post-test dilakukan uji normalitas dan dilanjutkan dengan uji t berpasangan. Sebanyak 82 responden berpartisipasi dalam sosialisasi tetes mata. Hasil analisis secara deskriptif menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan responden dengan kisaran antara 2,4% sampai 30,5%. Uji normalitas didapatkan hasil bahwa jawaban kuesioner terdistribusi normal dengan nilai p value > 0,05. Uji t berpasangan menunjukkan nilai p value < 0,05 yang berarti bahwa penyuluhan secara online melalui media sosial dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang obat tetes mata secara signifikan.

Background Antibiotic resistance is becoming a serious threat throughout the world. General community misuse and misconceptions in using antibiotics have been predicted to play a role in increasing antibacterial resistance (ABR). This study aimed to reveal the practicing antibiotic in the community, as information for national programs for reducing inappropriate antibiotic usage. Methods This study was a qualitative phenomenology approach, and the data collection was with in-depth interview. Semi-structured interviews with the interview guide were conducted from June 2019 to December 2019. Interview responses were transcribed, categorized, and coded for themes by thematic content analysis. Results We approached 26 participants. The most antibiotic used by participants was Amoxicillin and Supertetra®. Most participants did not know that antibiotics must be obtained from a pharmacy with a doctor's prescription. Even so, although some respondents already knew that antibiotics could only be obtained by prescription, some of them still get antibiotics without a prescription. Most informants got antibiotics from health workers (doctor-dispensed antibiotics, pharmacy staff, midwives, nurses) or non-health workers (stalls). Some of them used antibiotics as self-medication for reducing cold, flu, fever, pain, cough, headache, tired, and sore throat. Most respondents stopped their medicine when they were getting well, kept the remained antibiotics, and used it if they get sick in the future. Few participants shared their antibiotics to the family member. Conclusions Misuse and misconceptions about antibiotics occur in the general community. It is essential to educate the general public on an understanding of how to obtain and use rational antibiotics.

Secara Nasional, kasus Demam Berdarah Dengue terus meningkat dikalangan masyarakat. Kasus terbanyak ada di wilayah Jawa Timur, Jawa Tengah, Nusa Tenggara Timur, dan Kupang. Pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai demam berdarah terutama cara pencegahan dan pengobatan belum sepenuhnya mengerti sehingga diperlukan pengabdian untuk membantu masyarakat dalam mencegah dan memberantas kasus demam berdarah dengan memberikan sosialisasi penyuluhan. Kegiatan penyuluhan yang dilakukan adalah dengan memberikan materi kesehatan berupa upaya pencegahan, menjaga kebersihan lingkungan dan penanganan pertama yang dilakukan jika terkena Demam berdarah. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat diikuti 43 peserta. Sebelum dan sesudah pemberian materi tentang demam berdarah, peserta diberi soal sebagai pretest dan post-test. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan adanya pengaruh peningkatan pengetahuan yang signifikan sebelum dan setelah penyuluhan dengan nilai P 0,005.

Pneumonia was pulmonary lung disease called parenchyma caused by microorganism, Pneumonia can be cured byantibiotic to prevent the resistantof bacteria and to improve the effective of the treatment, the right antibiotic must be determining. This research purpose is to determine the accuracy of using antibiotic in toddler patients suffering pneumonia who hospitalized in RSUD “Y” “X” City, in 2016. This is nonexperimental research. Data collected retrospectively and was analized descriptively. Samplestaken by purposive sampling method which searched the medical report of toddler patient suffer pneumonia hospitalized in RSUD “Y”X City, in 2016 which met the inclusion criteria. Reseach accuracy was analized used “Pedoman Pelayanan Medis Ikatan Dokter Anak Indonesia year 2009” and “British National Formularium for Children 2011-2012”, Such as indication accuracy, precision medicine accuracy, patient accuracy and drug dose accuracy. The result of the research was found that in 49 toddler patient suffering pneumonia, the kind of antibiotic used was cefotaxime (89,80%), Ampicillin (4,08%), combination of cefotaxime + gentamicin (4,08%) and ampicillin + gentamicin (2,04%). Evaluation of accuracy of the use antibiotic 100% right in indication, precision medicine by 93,87%,100% patient accuracy, and 10,20% drug dose accuracy.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second most deadly cancer. Global incidence and mortality are likely to be increased in the coming decades. Although the deaths associated with CRC are very high in high-income countries, the incidence and fatalities related to CRC are growing in developing countries too. CRC detected early is entirely curable by surgery and subsequent medications. However, the recurrence rate is high, and cancer drug resistance increases the treatment failure rate. Access to early diagnosis and treatment of CRC for survival is somewhat possible in developed countries. However, these facilities are rarely available in developing countries. Highlighting the current status of CRC, its development, risk factors, and management is crucial in creating public awareness. Therefore, in this review, we have comprehensively discussed the current global epidemiology, drug resistance, challenges, risk factors, and preventive and treatment strategies of CRC. Additionally, there is a brief discussion on the CRC development pathways and recommendations for preventing and treating CRC.

This study assessed community pharmacist counseling and dispensing practices to determine their relationship with job satisfaction among pharmacists.A cross-sectional study was conducted between January 2021 and September 2021on a random sample of community pharmacists. The inclusion criteria were licensed community pharmacists with at least3months of professional experience. The researchers conducted face-to-face interviews using a developed structured questionnaire. The research instrument was comprised of two sections: demographic information and dispensing practices. Data were analyzed using SPSS Version 24.a total of 543pharmacists participated in this study. The average age of respondents was 31 ± 7 SD. The average dispensing practice score was 75% with a 95% confidence interval (CI) of [73.3%, 76.7%]. Better dispensing practices were common among older participants (odds ratio (OR)1.010; 95% CI 1.001-1.020), postgraduates (OR 1.191; 95% CI 1.055-1.344), pharmacists from pharmacy chains (OR 1.452; 95% CI 1.285-1.640), participants with more than 10 years of experience (OR 1.286; 95% CI 1.089-1.520), pharmacists who graduated from regional universities (OR 1.200; 95% CI 1.129-1.497), and pharmacists who graduated from international universities (OR 1.413; 95% CI 1.212-1.648). However, poor dispensing practices were common among participants who were not satisfied with their current community pharmacist job (OR 0.487; 95% CI 0.410-0.577).Patient-centered management strategies oriented toward creating a counseling-friendly environment would open more space to achieve professional self-realization through cognitive services. This could benefit patients via consistent counseling services and increase pharmacists' satisfaction with their job and profession.

Misuse and overuse of antibiotics are potential causes of the increasing prevalence of antibiotic resistance (ABR). Having information about the knowledge, attitude, and practices concerning antibiotics use by the public might help control ABR growth. Therefore, this cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the levels and associated factors of knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of antibiotics use among the public. A questionnaire was designed and validated, which consisted of a total of 51 questions with four sections: demographics (6), knowledge (20), attitude (12), and practice (13) to measure KAP. Univariate analysis (using Mann–Whitney U and Kruskal–Wallis analysis) was applied to assess the differences in the mean scores of KAP. Linear regression analysis was performed to identify factors associated with KAP. Finally, using Spearman analysis we have examined the correlation between responses to the KAP. The sample size of this study was 575, with a 99.96% response rate. Regarding knowledge, 73.12% of respondents stated that antibiotics could be used to treat viral infections, and 63.35% of respondents answered that antibiotics could reduce fever. Concerning attitude, 50% of respondents had considered stopping taking antibiotics as soon as symptoms had disappeared. In analyzing practice, we found 40% of respondents obtained antibiotics from a pharmacy without a prescription from a physician, a nurse, or a midwife. Statistical analysis revealed that KAP about antibiotic use was significantly associated with gender, area of residence, level of education, and monthly income (p &lt, 0.05). Our findings concluded that men, respondents with low income, those with low-level education, and those living in rural areas are more prone to excessive use of antibiotics without knowing the adverse effects of improper use and how it can contribute to high ABR. So it is urgently necessary to strengthen policies on antibiotics use, including drug provision, distribution, and sales. In addition, people with low KAP should be a priority consideration in education outreach initiatives.

Pneumonia is a respiratory infections disease are caused by bacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic pathogens that cause deaths in children, especially toddlers and increasing number incidents per year. Treatment of pneumonia treated with antibiotics rational and effective because can improve clinical therapeutic effects, minimize drug toxicity, reduce the incidence of resistance that leads to treatment failure, and more economically. The purpose of this study are to determine the rationale and effectiveness of antibiotic therapy. This study was an observational study with retrospective data retrieval using medical record data of pediatric patients diagnosed pneumonia in center hospital, Central Java. The results of 90 cases studied were 60% of patients treated with single antibiotics and 40% of patients treated with combination antibiotics. The most antibiotics given in single therapy were ampicillin (22,2%), amoxicillin (16,7%), and ceftriaxone (15,6%). While antibiotics in combination therapy was ampicillin with gentamicin 31.2%. rationality result analysis was: right indication 100%; proper patients 100%; appropriate medicines 72,2%; appropriate dose 9,23% and rational antibiotics 6,67%. Giving antibiotics ampicillin with gentamycin effective in eradicating bacteria this could be seen with temperature and leukocyte rate down, antibiotics did not improve on symptoms of patients.

Infectious disease (ID) is one of the top-most serious threats to human health globally, further aggravated by antimicrobial resistance and lack of novel immunization options. Andrographis paniculata (Burm. f.) Wall. ex Nees and its metabolites have been long used to treat IDs. Andrographolide, derived from A. paniculata, can inhibit invasive microbes virulence factors and regulate the host immunity. Controlled clinical trials revealed that A. paniculata treatment is safe and efficacious for acute respiratory tract infections like common cold and sinusitis. Hence, A. paniculata, mainly andrographolide, could be considered as an excellent candidate for antimicrobial drug development. Considering the importance, medicinal values, and significant role as antimicrobial agents, this study critically evaluated the antimicrobial therapeutic potency of A. paniculata and its metabolites, focusing on the mechanism of action in inhibiting invasive microbes and biofilm formation. A critical evaluation of the secondary metabolites with the aim of identifying pure compounds that possess antimicrobial functions has further added significant values to this study. Notwithstanding that A. paniculata is a promising source of antimicrobial agents and safe treatment for IDs, further empirical research is warranted.

Salah satu standar pelayanan farmasi di rumah sakit adalah waktu tunggu. Waktu tunggu pelayanan obat adalah tenggang waktu mulai pasien menyerahkan resep sampai dengan menerima obat. Waktu tunggu berpengaruh pada kualitas pelayanan dan kepuasan pasien. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pelaksanaan Standar Pelayanan Minimal (SPM) Rumah Sakit dengan jenis pelayanan farmasi kategori lama waktu tunggu pelayanan resep rawat jalan di RSUD Kota Salatiga. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian non eksperimental dengan rancangan deskriptif (penelitian survey) terhadap pasien rawat jalan yang menebus resep di Instalasi Farmasi RSUD Salatiga dan pengambilan sampel dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Waktu penelitian yaitu pada bulan Januari – Maret 2016. Dilakukan penghitungan waktu tunggu pelayanan resep obat jadi dan obat racikan kemudian dilakukan analisis terhadap kesesuaian dengan standar pelayanan minimal kategori lama waktu tunggu. Jumlah resep yang diteliti dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 225 resep dengan 78 resep obat racikan dan 147 merupakan resep obat jadi atau non racikan. Waktu tunggu rata-rata obat racikan adalah 9,18 menit dan rata-rata waktu tunggu obat jadi atau obat non racikan adalah 5,70 menit. Hal tersebut sudah sesuai dengan standar pelayanan minimal yang dipersyaratkan oleh Kepmenkes No 129/ Menkes/SK/II/2008 tentang pelayanan resep baik obat jadi maupun obat racikan yaitu lama waktu tunggu obat jadi ≤30 menit dan obat racikan ≤60 menit , dan dari semua sampel yang diteliti tidak ada yang melebihi lama waktu tunggu seperti yang dipersyaratkan. Waiting time is counted from patients give the prescription until get medicines in pharmacy department. Waiting time influences quality of health care and patients’ satisfy. This research is due to evaluate implementation of minimum health care standard at hospital categorize waiting time for concoction medicines and non concoction medicines in outpatients at RSUD Kota Salatiga. This is a non experimental experiment with descriptive design. Samples were collected with purposive sampling method. Research was done on January until March 2016. The numbers of samples are 225 prescriptions consist of 78 concoction medicines and 147 non concoction medicines. Result showed that the average of waiting time for concoction medicines was 9.18 minutes and the average of waiting time for non concoction medicines was 5.70 minutes. These were proper the regulation of Indonesian health ministry No 129/Menkes/SK/II/2008, which is for concoction medicines is less than or equal to 60 minutes and non concoction medicines is less than or equal to 30 minutes. Background One of the goals of counseling in patients with chronic diseases including tuberculosis patients is to improve adherence to taking medication. By patient adherence, therapeutic results are more optimal. Additional counseling alternatives such as leaflets may be needed to make easier for patients to obtain information about their treatment. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of counseling with and without leaflets on the adherence on taking tuberculosis (TB) drugs. Methods This study was a quantitative research conducted using a quasi-experiment method with a control group for pre-test and post-test design. Data was taken by consecutive sampling. The number of samples in this study was 75 respondents which divided into three groups: counseling, counseling with leaflets, and control that is a usual care in hospital. The inclusion criteria were patients diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis with age 25–55 years, who has been taking TB medicines for at least one month and can communicate well. Data was analyzed using Wilcoxon and Kruskal–Wallis with post hoc Mann–Whitney due to abnormality of the distributed data. Results Before the intervention, of 20 respondents (42.6%) out of 75 respondents were obedient to their TB medicines, whereas after the intervention the number of obedient patients was 33 respondents (70.2%). There was a significant increase in adherence between before and after two weeks of counseling intervention with a p-value of 0.029 before and after two weeks of counseling with leaflets with a p-value of 0.003. Counseling and counseling with leaflets improved patients' adherence compare to control group with p-values of 0.028 and 0.001 respectively. Conclusion Counseling and counseling with leaflet impact in patients' adherence to tuberculosis medication.

The patient who had myocardial infraction has a risk of recurrent myocardial infraction. Secondary prevention including antiplatelet, beta-blocker, statin, ACE inhibitor/ARB aims to prevent recurrent myocardial infarction. This study aimed to find the influence of secondary prevention and risk factors on the occurrence of recurrent myocardial infraction. This research was conducted with quantitative and case-control retrospectively. The subjects were 80 respondents consisting of 40 respondents in the case group and 40 respondents in control group patients. Data were analyzed using bivariate analysis of chi-square test followed by multivariate analysis of logistic regression. Rate of recurrent myocardial infarction (MI) with antiplatelet therapy decreased from 64.3% to 34.2%, with beta-blocker therapy decreased from 57.7% to 35.7%, with statin therapy decreased from 65.9% to 30.5%, with ACE inhibitor/ARB therapy decreased from 65.9% to 30.5%, with a combination of fourth therapy reduced from 57.4% to 34.6%. Chi-square test showed that there was a statistically significant relationship between antiplatelet therapy (p = 0.007), statin therapy (p = 0.002), ACE inhibitor / ARB therapy (p = 0.002), family history (p = 0.011) and adherence (p = 0.007) to recurrent MI. While multivariate analysis of logistic regression showed that the variables influencing the incidence of recurrent myocardial infarction were did not use antiplatelet therapy (P = 0,005; OR= 4.006) and statin therapy (P = 0,029; OR= 3.111). The secondary prevention reduced the incident of recurrent myocardial infarction.

Objective: Patients who survive from the first stroke have risk factors to be recurrent. Based on American Heart Association/American Stroke Association and PERDOSSI (Indonesian Neurologist Association), medications which are prescribed to reduce the risk of recurrent stroke as secondary stroke prevention therapies include antiplatelet/anticoagulant as well as antihypertensive and lipid lowering agent. Patients’ adherence to the secondary stroke prevention therapies is important to reduce the recurrent stroke. Methods: This is a quantitative research and the data was collected retrospectively. The number of subjects of this study were 165 respondents. The participants were interviewed by researchers about their adherence to secondary stroke prevention by Modified Morisky Adherence Scale 8 (MMAS-8) questionnaire. Patients’ adherence was stated as low (MMAS-8 score < 6); moderate (MMAS-8 score = 6-7) and high (MMAS-8 = 8). This research was taken at a teaching hospital in Central Java Indonesia.Results: Of 165 participants, 48 participants (29%) were categorized to have low adherence, 43 participants (26%) had moderate adherence, and 74 participants (45%) had high adherence to secondary stroke prevention therapies. The reasons for not adhering to the medications were felt better (34.1%), forgetfulness (18.7%), boredom (16.5%), lack of family support (8.8%), lack of time (6.6%), felt worse (5.5%), concern about side effects (3.3%), preference to Complementary Alternative Medicines (3.3%), and cost (3.3%).Conclusion: The number of patients who has high adherence to secondary stroke prevention was 45% and the most common reason why participants did not adhere to therapy was because they felt better (34.1%).
