The Qinling‐Dabie‐Sulu orogen is the eastern part of the Central China Orogenic Belt. Looking back on previous studies of the sedimentary record we systematically compiled the dataset of detrital zircon U–Pb ages and Hf isotopes for this orogenic belt. The dataset incorporates a comprehensive compilation of 32,449 detrital zircon U–Pb ages and 979 Hf isotopes. The findings demonstrate that distinct tectonic units within the orogenic belt exhibit unique tectonic evolution histories during various geological epochs. This dataset can be used to constrain the tectonic framework and orogenic evolution including ocean subduction, continental collision and orogen exhumation. It can be integrated with other geological datasets to improve our understanding of the Central Orogenic Belt in China, and possibly plate tectonics globally. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Xifanping deposit is a distinct Cenozoic porphyry Cu (Au) deposit located in the Sanjing porphyry metallogenic belt 100–150 km east of the JinshajFiang fault in the western Yangtze craton. We present new zircon U–Pb–Lu–Hf isotopic studies and geochemical data of the ore-bearing quartz monzonite porphyry from the Xifanping deposit to determine their petrogenesis and geodynamic mechanisms. LA–ICP–MS zircon U–Pb dating yielded precise emplacement ages of 31.87 ± 0.41 Ma (MSWD = 0.86) and 32.24 ± 0.61 Ma (MSWD = 1.8) for quartz monzonite porphyry intrusions, and 254.9 ± 5.1 Ma (MSWD = 1.7) for inherited zircons of the monzonite porphyry. The ore-bearing monzonite porphyry is characterized by high-K calc–alkaline to shoshonite and peraluminous series, relatively enriched in light over heavy REEs, with no distinct Eu anomalies, as well as enrichment in LILEs and depletion of HFSEs, with adakitic affinities. The zircon Lu–Hf isotope data ranged from εHf(t) values of −2.94 to +3.68 (average −0.47) with crustal model (TDM2) ages ranging from 0.88 to 1.30 Ga, whereas the inherited zircons displayed positive εHf(t) values ranging from +1.83 to +7.98 (average +5.82), with crustal model (TDM2) ages ranging from 0.77 to 1.17 Ga. Results suggest that the Xifanping porphyry Cu (Au) deposit is related to two periods of magmatic activities. Early magmas were generated from the Paleo-Tethys oceanic subduction during the Late Permian. The subsequent porphyry magma was likely formed by the remelting of previously subduction-modified arc lithosphere, triggered by the continental collision between the Indian and Asian plates in the Cenozoic. The deep magmas and late hydrothermal fluids took advantage of the early magma transport channels along tectonically weak zones during the transition from an extrusive to an extensional–tensional tectonic environment. Early dikes from remelted and assimilated crust contributed to the two age ranges observed in the porphyry intrusions from the Xifanping deposit. The juvenile lower crust materials of the early magmatic arc were potential sources of the Cenozoic porphyry magmas, which has significant implications for mineral exploration and the geological understanding of porphyry Cu deposits in this region. The Weishancheng area of Tongbai County, Henan Province, is an important Au‐Ag polymetallic ore concentration area in China, characterized by a widespread distribution of plutons and frequent magmatic activities. To investigate the genetic relationship between magmatism and the mineralization of gold and silver polymetallic deposits in the area, this study focuses on the porphyritic monzogranite of the Liangwan pluton and the biotite granite of the Taoyuan pluton in detail. The zircon U‐Pb age of the Liangwan pluton is 128.5 ± 0.7 Ma, placing its intrusion age in the Early Cretaceous. Similarly, the zircon U‐Pb age of the Taoyuan pluton is 431.3 ± 2.7 Ma, indicating an intrusion age in the Early Silurian. Petrogeochemical analysis reveals that both the Liangwan and Taoyuan plutons exhibit high SiO2, Na2O and Al2O3 contents, along with low MgO, Fe2O3 and CaO contents, indicating a (high‐K) calc‐alkaline series, and have the properties of peraluminous I‐type granite. The total rare earth elements (REE) concentrations are low, with noticeable fractionation between light and heavy REE, and a negative Eu anomaly. High‐field‐strength elements (such as Nb, Ta, P, Ti) are depleted, while the large‐ion lithophile elements (such as Rb, K, Pb) are enriched. The εHf(t) values of the Liangwan and Taoyuan plutons range from −16.1 to −18.8 and from 11.0 to 14.6, respectively. The mean values of Hf two‐stage model ages (TDM2) are 603 Ma and 2230 Ma, respectively. These results suggest that the Liangwan pluton may have formed through partial melting of ancient crustal materials in the Palaeoproterozoic, during extensional tectonic events following the subduction of Izanagi Plate. It appears closely linked to Au‐Ag mineralization in the ore concentration area. The Taoyuan pluton likely originated from the depleted mantle and experienced some degree of crustal contamination. The relative contributions of asthenospheric mantle, lithospheric mantle, and continental crust in the genesis of the Siberian Traps Large Igneous Province (ST-LIP) remain poorly constrained. Most models invoke partial melting of asthenospheric mantle within a mantle plume with an inventory of recycled crustal material, with or without melting of subcontinental lithospheric mantle, and crustal contamination during ascend through the continental lithosphere. A greater understanding of this topic is of fundamental importance because the ST-LIP basalts are associated with the large Permian-Triassic extinction and the world's largest magmatic Ni-Cu-platinum group element sulfide resources (Ni-Cu-PGE), the Norilsk-Talnakh mining camp. The ∼250 ± 2 Ma Siberian Traps at Norilsk contain a classic sequence of basaltic rocks that provide a spatial and stratigraphic context for changing chemistry of the eruptive products. We present a detailed geochemical and Sr-Nd-Hf-Mo isotopic investigation of ST-LIP volcanic rocks and associated sedimentary rocks, including coal and anhydrite, from the Norilsk area. The 98Mo/95Mo isotope ratios (reported as δ98Mo ratio relative to NIST SRM 3134) vary significantly from −0.62 to 0.07 ‰ for the older basalt formations and −0.41 to 0.03 ‰ for the younger basalt formations. The range of δ98Mo and its correlation with the other geochemical tracers cannot be explained by post-magmatic alteration, magmatic differentiation, or sulfide fractionation as Mo behaves as a lithophile element under these magmatic conditions. We suggest that the δ98Mo range can be explained by interaction of the plume with subcontinental lithospheric mantle modified by subduction processes. This is particularly prominent in the earlier Ivakinsky to Gudchikhinsky formations where light δ98Mo values coupled with low Mo/Ce can be explained by contributions from a dehydrated eclogitic component, whereas more rare heavy δ98Mo values and high Mo/Ce likely require contributions from a fluid metasomatized mantle source. Later magmas of the Nadezhdinsky formation show clear evidence of crustal contamination in their combined Mo-Sr-Nd-Hf isotope and trace element systematics, while the later more voluminous Morongovsky type magmas are shallower, large degree melts with limited crustal interaction. The Shenxianshui granites in the western Gejiu area were formed in the Late Cretaceous. Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry indicates zircon U‐Pb ages ranging from 90.67 ± 0.7 to 85.97 ± 0.6 Ma. The intrusive rocks are peraluminous (A/CNK = 1.03 to 1.33) and calc‐alkaline, showing an affinity towards I‐type granite. Large ion lithophilic elements are enriched in K and Rb, while high field strength elements are depleted. Moreover, light rare earth elements are significantly enriched, showing a slight negative Eu anomaly (Eu/Eu* = 0.39 to 0.58). Shenxianshui granite has a relatively high initial Sr isotope ratio (87Sr/86Sr)i (0.7098–0.7105), negative εNd(t) values (−7.99 to −7.44) and negative εHf(t) values (−8.37 to −2.58). Combined with previous studies, these characteristics suggest that the Shenxianshui alkaline granites were formed in a post‐collision extensional environment. The alkaline granitic magma possibly originated from the partial melting of the lower crust during the Mesoproterozoic era and may have contained mantle source materials. Shenxianshui alkaline granite was formed from mixed magma with a high degree of crystal differentiation. The abundance of ore‐forming elements indicates that Shenxianshui granite has the potential to mineralize key metals and rare earth elements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Songliao Basin is rich in uranium ores, and the Yaojia Formation, which is dominated by gray fine-grained sandstones, contains the main ore-bearing stratum. Rocks in the formation contain high SiO2, Al2O3, and total alkali, with enrichment in Rb, Th, U, K, and light rare earth elements but are depleted in high field strength elements, similar to upper crustal rocks. U–Pb dating of zircon grains from sandstones in the formation yielded four groups of ages, including 99–182, 202–245, 284–365, and 1800–1900 Ma. These ages combined with the Hf isotope composition, geochemical characteristics, and regional history suggest that the Yaojia Formation rocks are associated with passive and active continental margin settings. These clastic rocks originate principally from felsic rocks in the Zhangguangcailing–Xiao Xing'anling area, and these were deposited in oxic freshwater environments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Geochemistry, zircon U–Pb geochronology, and Hf isotope data for the Early Paleozoic granites in the Baoshan Block reveal the Early Paleozoic tectonic evolution of the Proto-Tethys. The samples are high-K, calc-alkaline, strongly peraluminous rocks with A/CNK values of 1.37–1.46, are enriched in SiO2, K2O, and Rb, and are depleted in Nb, P, Ti, Eu, and heavy rare earth elements, which indicates the crystallization fractionation of the granitic magma. Zircon U–Pb dating indicates that they formed in ca. 480 Ma. The Nansa granites have εHf(t) values ranging from − 16.04 to 4.36 with corresponding TCDM ages of 2.10–0.81 Ga, which suggests the magmas derived from the partial melting of ancient metasedimentary with minor involvement of mantle-derived components. A synthesis of data for the Early Paleozoic igneous rocks in the Baoshan block and adjacent (Tengchong, Qiangtang, Sibumasu, Himalaya, etc.) blocks indicates that these blocks were all aligned along the proto-Tethyan margin of East Gondwana in the Early Paleozoic. The Early Paleozoic S-type granites from Nansa were generated in a high-temperature and low-pressure (HTLP) extensional tectonic setting, which resulted from Andean-type orogeny instead of the final assembly of Gondwana or crustal extension in a non-arc environment. In certain places, an expanding environment may exist in opposition to the tectonic backdrop of the lithosphere's thickening and shortening, leading the crust to melt and decompress, mantle-derived materials to mix, and a small quantity of peraluminous granite to emerge. The properties of ancient magmatic arcs are crucial for understanding the tectonic evolution of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt. The Middle Devonian Kulumudi Formation in the Laofengkou area of West Junggar lacks accurate chronological data constraints, which hampers the knowledge of the nature of the Late Paleozoic magmatic arcs in the West Junggar and circum-Balkhash areas. In this contribution, samples of pyroclastic rocks and sedimentary rocks were collected from the volcano–sedimentary strata of the Kulumudi Formation. Petrography, zircon U-Pb-Hf isotopic analysis and whole-rock geochemistry were carried out to constrain the age and the tectonic setting of the Kulumudi Formation. The zircon U-Pb age of the lithic crystal tuff from the Kulumudi Formation on the northeast side of the Alemale Mountains was 386 ± 2 Ma, accurately indicating that this rock unit formed during the Middle Devonian. However, the fine sandstone near the Huojierte Mongolian Township, originally assigned as the "Kulumudi Formation", yielded a maximum depositional age of 341 ± 3 Ma. Combined with the stratigraphic contact, this rock unit was redefined to belong to the Lower Carboniferous Jiangbasitao Formation. According to the whole-rock geochemistry study, the lithic crystal tuff of the Kulumudi Formation was characterized as medium potassium–calc–alkaline series rock, which is relatively enriched in light rare earth elements and large ion lithophile elements (i.e., Rb, Ba, K) and depleted in high-field-strength elements (i.e., Nb, Ta, Ti), showing similar geochemical characteristics to the volcanic arc rocks. By contrast, the fine sandstone from the Jiangbasitao Formation had Al2O3/SiO2 (0.25–0.29) and K2O/Na2O (1.29–1.72) ratios close to those derived from the continental arc and active continental margin and was characterized as part of the continental arc field in the La-Th-Sc and Th-Sc-Zr/10 tectonic discrimination diagrams. Zircon Hf isotope analysis showed that the εHf(t) values of the Kulumudi Formation were +5.6–+12.8, and those of the Jiangbasitao Formation were +11.43–+15.48, both of which show highly positive juvenile characteristics. The above data indicate that the Kulumudi Formation and Jiangbasitao Formation both formed in a juvenile arc setting with ocean–continent subduction. Combined with the previous work, it was concluded that the southward subduction of the ocean basin represented by the Darbut–Karamay ophiolitic mélanges beneath the newly accreted arc crustal segments produced a juvenile arc with positive Hf isotope characteristics. [Display omitted] • The late-collisional "460 Gaodi deposit" and the Mo-Cu bearing ore-related porphyry formed at ca. 180–182 Ma. • Mesozoic magmatic suites at 460 Gaodi deposit are formed by partial melting of the lower crust. • A post-collisional stage Mongol-Okhotsk Ocean orogenic system at ca. 182–163 Ma is proposed in the North Great Xing'an Range. The newly discovered "460 Gaodi porphyry Mo–Cu deposit" (with Re-Os age of 179.6 ± 3.6 Ma) is located 30 km west of Hanjiayuanzi town in the northern Great Xing'an Range (GXR), NE China. The intrusive rocks in the deposit area can be classified into four periods: (1) Early Ordovician, which includes a high-K calc-alkaline monzodiorite (480 Ma) indicating significant crustal contamination, and a "syntectic" I-type granodiorite (479 Ma) with low Mg# values (34–38) and εHf(t) values (−4.4 to +0.9) show mixing of mantle-crust derived materials, which is related to post-orogenic event between the Ergun and Xing'an blocks; (2) Late Triassic, which includes an adakitic granodiorite porphyry (220 Ma) related to partial melting of the lower part of a thickened crust (C-type adakitic) with low Na 2 O/K 2 O ratio (1.27–1.49), Cr and Ni contents, with εHf(t) values of −0.7 to +3.3; (3) early Early Jurassic, which includes a differentiated I-type monzogranite (198 Ma) and syenogranite (196 Ma) with negative Eu anomaly (0.06–0.74), low Mg# (9–37) and high Rb/Sr (0.84–5.07). The εHf(t) values of them are −3.3 to 1.8 and −3.0 to +2.3, respectively, indicating the same source areas originated from partial melting of juvenile lower crust; (4) late Early Jurassic, which includes an ore-related C-type adakitic granite porphyry (182 Ma) with relative low Mg# (36–38), and low Na 2 O/K 2 O (0.65–0.81), strongly peraluminous quartz porphyry (181 Ma) with highly differentiated characteristics, and post-collisional gabbroic diorite (180 Ma). The ore-related granite porphyry yields εHf(t) values ranging from −4.1 to −0.4, suggesting partial melting of juvenile lower crust. The 460 Gaodi deposit formed in a late-collisional setting related to the Mongol-Okhotsk Ocean system. The Susong complex zone is a relatively low‐grade metamorphic unit located in the southern part of the Dabie orogen and preserves a variety of metasedimentary rocks, mostly with epidote–amphibolite facies. However, their depositional age, provenance and tectonic setting of sedimentary protolith remain controversial due to the lack of fossils, precise dating and integrated geochemical investigation. This study has conducted whole‐rock elemental, and zircon U‐Pb SHRIMP dating and Lu‐Hf isotope analyses on three types of representative metasedimentary rocks including garnet‐bearing mica‐quartz schist, graphite‐muscovite‐quartz schist and dolomitic marble from the Susong complex zone. The U‐Pb SHRIMP dating data indicate that the sedimentary protolith of these rocks have the maximum depositional ages of less than 840–750 Ma and have various sedimentary provenances. In combination with zircon Lu‐Hf isotope compositions, the provenance of the metasedimentary rocks in the region is for the first time documented to be mainly derived from four groups of magmatic rocks formed at ∼2.5 Ga, ∼2.0 Ga, ∼1.4 Ga and ∼0.8 Ga in response to four episodes of igneous activity in the northeastern margin of the Yangtze Block. The conventional geothermobarometry combined with rare metamorphic zircon ages indicate that the studied rocks underwent the Late Triassic continental subduction‐related metamorphism with peak epidote–amphibolite facies conditions at P = 0.34–0.91 GPa and T = 427–532°C. In addition, results of the elemental contents (i.e., La, Ce, Th and ΣREE) and ratios (i.e., Eu/Eu* and LaN/YbN) suggest that the protoliths of the metasedimentary rocks were mainly shales, wackes and limestones, most probably related to the Rodinia supercontinent rifting along the northern margin of the Yangtze Block during the Neoproterozoic. Detrital zircons in the matrix of an accretionary complex play an important role in providing evidence to reconstruct oceanic plate subduction and accretion processes. The Nadanhada accretionary complex (NAC) dominated by the Yuejinshan, Raohe and Tongjiang accretionary complexes provides significant geological evidence to better understand the Paleo-Pacific subduction–accretion process. Most previous studies have focused on the Yuejinshan and Raohe accretionary complexes, while those of the Tongjiang accretionary complex on the north side have focused on blocks. In this study, we present zircon U–Pb dating and Hf isotopic data for the matrix of metasedimentary rock in the Tongjiang accretionary complex. The analysis results show that the zircons in the fine silty mudstone, phyllonite and fine argillaceous siltstone define the youngest weighted mean ages (youngest detrital zircon ages) of 261.4 ± 2.9 Ma (247 Ma), 175.2 ± 4.9 Ma (169 Ma) and 168.6 ± 2.1 Ma (162 Ma), respectively, and yield a younging trend of the accretion materials from west to east. Provenance analysis indicates that the matrix was mainly sourced from the neighboring Jiamusi and Xingkai blocks. Based on previous results of the Permian and Late Triassic blocks in the Yuejinshan region, the Permian and Early Jurassic blocks in the Tongjiang region, and the Late Triassic and Early–Middle Jurassic blocks in the Raohe region, as well as the lower limit of the depositional age of the Late Triassic matrix in the Yuejinshan region and the Middle Jurassic and Early Cretaceous matrices in the Raohe region, we propose that the NAC may record the Late Permian–Triassic, Jurassic and Early Cretaceous oceanic accretion events, representing the westward subduction and accretion process of the Paleo–Pacific Ocean Plate. Megacrystic zircons have recently been found in alluvial deposits in the Huadian area of northeastern China. However, studies have rarely been conducted on these zircons. In this article, we present systematic in situ trace element, U-Pb age and Hf isotope data regarding these Huadian zircons, with the aim of investigating their source characteristics and provenance. The studied zircons, with a diameter of 0.7–1.2 cm, are dominantly irregular in shape and have a rounded termination, with a color ranging from near-colorless to reddish brown to maroon. The zircons show oscillatory zoning in CL images, with a Th/U value of 0.18–1.27, which is consistent with the typical features of magmatic zircons. The positive εHf(t) value of Huadian zircons (4.8–9.2) further indicates the presence of precipitation from the mantle-derived melt, with limited contamination of the crustal components. The obtained weighted mean 206Pb/238U age for these zircons is 17.9 ± 0.12 Ma, which is slightly older than the eruptional ages of the associated alkali basalts (from 17.6 ± 1.09 Ma to 17.8 ± 0.69 Ma), implying a short residence time in the mantle before entrainment. Huadian zircons incorporate a wide range of trace elements, including ΣREE (117–2790 ppm), Hf (4902–11856 ppm) and Y (145–3645 ppm) contents, generating mixed-source protolith assignments. As is suggested by the moderate variations seen in the Hf isotopes, we propose that the source melts of Huadian zircons are complex in nature, which is likely the result of the chemical heterogeneity of the upper mantle. The Gacun deposit is a typical Volcanic Hosted Massive Sulfide (VHMS) associated with Late Triassic seafloor calc-alkaline felsic volcanics. Studies of zircon ages, petrology, major and trace element geochemistry, and Sr-Nd-Hf isotope geochemistry of volcanic rocks from the Northern Yidun arc were undertaken in this paper. We reshaped the Gacun magmatic system activity time, defined the origin of magma evolution, and proposed a metallogenic model of the deposit. Whole-rock major element compositions of the magmatic rocks in the Northern Yidun island arc indicate that they are a complete basalt–andesite–dacite–rhyolite assemblage, showing three obvious stages of composition evolution. They are enriched in large-ion lithophile and light rare earth elements, but depleted in high field-strength and heavy rare earth elements, with weak-to-negligible Eu anomalies (obvious in rhyolite). These geochemical features indicate that the Northern Yidun island arc is a magmatic arc based on ancient continental crust. The Ganzi–Litang oceanic subduction induced mantle melting and produced calc-alkaline basaltic magma, while the MASH processes at the bottom of the crust produced andesitic magma. Part of the andesite magma erupted to form andesite lava. The remaining part was mixed with magma produced via anatexis of ancient crust (approximately 20%–40% of the ancient crustal component), forming the ore-bearing rhyolite. Zircon U-Pb age data defines Gacun magmatic–hydrothermal mineralization sequence of events: At 238 Ma, arc magmatism led to the formation of andesite in the eastern part of the deposit. At 233 Ma, in the arc zone (the western part of Gacun deposit), a large-scale bimodal magmatism formed the main ore-bearing rock series of Gacun deposit, rhyolitic volcanic rocks. At 221 Ma, volcanic eruptions tended to end and sub-volcanic intrusion occurred, forming a lava dome, which was located under the ore-bearing rhyolitic volcanic rocks. The lava dome acted as a thermal engine and promoted hydrothermal circulation. The hydrothermal activity reached a peak at 217 ± 1 Ma, and the Gacun VHMS deposit was formed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Magmatic activity in the Sakarya Zone, an important segment of the Alpine orogenic belt, continues intermittently from the middle Carboniferous to Miocene. In this study, we provide geochronological and geochemical data from the Dağdibi Pluton in the eastern Sakarya Zone to present some inferences on the source region and petrogenesis of the middle Eocene magmatism. U–Pb zircon geochronology from two granodiorite samples gives middle Eocene ages of 44.75 ± 0.92 and 45.01 ± 0.59 Ma. The pluton is mainly composed of K-feldspar, plagioclase, quartz, Mg-hornblende/actinolite, Fe–Ti oxides and small amounts of biotite, and secondary chlorite and epidote. Parental magma of the intrusive rocks has a high-K calc-alkaline affinity with metaluminous character. The oxygen fugacity values vary between −18 and −17. The rocks show slightly radiogenic 87Sr/86Sr(i) (0.704845–0.705726) ratios and ϵNdi values between −0.96 and +0.52. Pb–Pb isotope ratios are typical for those of the lower continental crust. ϵHf(i) values of the zircons range from 0.14 to 10.26. The geochemical and isotopic features of the pluton point to a parental magma derived from a depleted mantle that was metasomatized by fluids during previous subduction events. The volumetric abundances of the rock types are decreased as the silica content increase, implying that the fractional crystallization is the most important process during the formation of the present compositional range of the pluton. Amphibole, plagioclase and Fe–Ti oxides are the fractionated phases while K-feldspar is largely accumulated. The Yangshan gold belt is renowned for its igneous rock formations, particularly dykes that form in tectonically weak zones. Some of these rock formations exhibit a close spatial relationship with gold mineralization, and a tiny portion of the granitic dykes serve as gold ore bodies by themselves. In order to investigate the nature of granitic dykes and their association with gold mineralization, we conducted a comprehensive study consisting of zircon U-Pb chronology, petrography, and in situ Hf isotope analysis of 25 granitic dyke samples collected from east to west across the belt. According to LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating results, the granitic dykes inherited zircon ages that are concentrated between 745.0 and 802.0 Ma, and magmatic intrusion ages that mainly fall between 201.0 and 213 Ma. Moreover, the granitic dykes display a calc-alkaline to high-K calc-alkaline peraluminous series, which is relatively enriched in light over heavy REE, with moderate Eu anomalies. These dykes are rich in large-ion lithophile elements and poor in high-field-strength elements. The zircon Lu-Hf isotope data range from εHf(t) values of −1.5 to 0.1, mantle model (TDM1) ages range from 859 to 937 Ma, and crustal model (TDM2) ages range from 1111 to 1218 Ma. The granitic dykes found in the Yangshan gold belt were formed between 200 and 213 Ma ago, during a period of intracontinental extension following the late collision between the Yangtze plate and Qinling microplates. These dykes originated from the volcanic basement of the Mesoproterozoic Bikou Group, which was formed by the melting of the upper crust under the crustal thickening caused by the subduction and collision of the Qinling microplate. Subsequently, the dykes were transported along a tectonically weak zone, assimilating surrounding rocks and undergoing a transformation from "I"-type to "S"-type granite before finally evolving into granite with specific "A"-type characteristics. Our study provides new insights into the petrogenesis of granitic dykes in the Yangshan gold belt, as well as the relationship between gold mineralization and magmatic activity, which has significant implications for mineral exploration and the geological understanding of gold mineralization in this region. The Permian–Triassic boundary (PTB) volcanic tuffs are widely distributed in the East Palaeo‐Tethys region, but their age and origin have been controversial. The Permian–Triassic deep‐water sediments in the northeastern margin of South China are favourable research objects, and we report new results from the PTB deep basin sediments in the Susong area, Anhui Province, in this paper. Two volcanic tuffs are found in the Zuoshan PTB in the Zuoshan section, and Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA‐ICP‐MS) U–Pb zircon dating indicates that the upper and lower tuffs are 251.3 ± 1.7 Ma and 252.3 ± 2.1 Ma, respectively. The PTB age is 251.6 Ma according to a numerical interpolation method of the average deposition rate of the PTB. Fusulinids and non‐fusulinid foraminifers in the limestone overlying the lower tuff define the rock as end‐Permian. Zircon trace elements show that both tuffs are sourced from felsic volcanism in continental arc background, and their source magmas were derived from the continental crust. Zircons of PTB age from the upper tuff on the bottom of the Triassic have negative εHf(t) value from −8.02 to −3.75, and the Palaeo‐Mesoproterozoic two‐stage model ages of 1502–1780 Ma, showing that their source rocks were only derived from the remelting of the Palaeo‐Mesoproterozoic continental crust. The zircons from the lower tuff on the top of the Permian show two types, including negative εHf(t) values from −6.48 to −1.25 and Palaeo‐Mesoproterozoic two‐stage model ages of 1350–1679 Ma, and positive εHf(t) values from +3.98 to +10.15, and Neoproterozoic two‐stage model ages of 629–1023 Ma, indicating that their sources were derived from the reworking of the Palaeo‐Mesoproterozoic continental crust and early Neoproterozoic depleted mantle joined in juvenile crust growth in the northern margin of the South China Block at the beginning of the collision between the South China and North China blocks. The Eastern Pontides orogenic belt (EPOB) represents a significant segment of the Alpine-Himalayan orogenic belt that evolved from the Paleozoic to Cenozoic periods. Here we report new zircon U-Pb ages, together with Lu-Hf isotopes, and whole-rock geochemical and Sr-Nd isotopic analyses of plutonic rocks from EPOB, northeastern Turkey. Our aim is to interpret magmatic evolution in which the granitoids formed. Zircon U-Pb dating of six samples yielded crystallization ages of ∼134, ∼82, ∼39 Ma, respectively. They show a wide range of 87Sr/86Sr(i) (0.703 9–0.710 9), and εNd(t) values varying from −9 to +4.6, yielding model ages (TDM) from 520 to 1 623 Ma, suggesting a heterogeneous magma source. Dated zircons show exlusively positive εHf(t) values (+12.4 to +1.4), yielding model ages (TDM) from 352 to 1 059 Ma, implying that they are most likely derived from a juvenile lower crust rather than the mature continental crust. In this study, we suggested that the northward subduction of the Neo-Tethyan oceanic slab began from the Early Cretaceous and resulted in the Late Cretaceous magmatism. New zircon reference materials for in situ zircon radiogenic Hf isotope and stable Zr isotopic determinations made by laser ablation multi‐collector inductively coupled plasma‐mass spectrometry (LA‐MC‐ICP‐MS) are required due to high data productivity and consequently high reference material consumption rate. This study examines a new natural zircon for Zr isotope ratios by double spike thermal ionisation mass spectrometry (TIMS), and for Hf isotopes by bulk solution nebuliser (SN)‐MC‐ICP‐MS with both Zr and Hf determined by LA‐MC‐ICP‐MS. A total of five zirconium isotope measurements from drilled zircons, determined by TIMS, yield a mean δ94/90ZrIPGP‐Zr value of ‐0.09 ± 0.06‰ (2s). Five and eight hafnium isotope measurements for powders from the drilled zircons and Ban‐1‐4 by SN‐MC‐ICP‐MS, yield mean 176Hf/177Hf ratios of 0.282985 ± 0.000011 (2s) and 0.282982 ± 0.000007 (2s), respectively. The mean δ94/90ZrIPGP‐Zr value and 176Hf/177Hf ratio determined by LA‐MC‐ICP‐MS analyses are ‐0.06 ± 0.09‰ (2s, n = 504) and 0.282985 ± 0.000035 (2s, n = 327), respectively. The Early Paleozoic tectonic evolution of the South China Block (SCB) remains controversial related to intracontinental orogenic and oceanic subduction processes. We present whole-rock major and trace elemental data, LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb age and Lu-Hf isotopic data for the Early Paleozoic igneous rocks including granodiorites from the Yuechengling pluton and volcanic breccias from the Damingshan pluton from the western segment of the Jiangnan Orogen in the SCB. LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating yielded emplacement ages for the Yuechengling S-type granitoids of 438–436 Ma and the deposited age for the Damingshan volcaniclastic rocks to be later than 451 Ma. The Yuechengling granitoids have consistent SiO2, TiO2, Fe2O3T, MgO, and P2O5 contents, higher Al2O3 contents, and Na2O + K2O values, but lower Mg# values, compared with those of the Damingshan volcaniclastic rocks. All the studied samples exhibit enrichment in LREEs and moderate negative Eu anomalies (δEu = 0.63–0.75), with negative Ba, Sr, Nb, Ta, P, and Ti anomalies, and positive Rb, Th, U, Pb, and K anomalies. The granitoids have variable CaO/Na2O ratios of 0.22–1.11, negative εHf(t) values of −11.98 to −0.90, and corresponding TDM2 ages distributed from 2.37 to 1.55 Ga. The petrographic and geochemical characteristics of the Yuechengling granitoids indicate that their parental magma was derived from a crustal meta-greywacke and meta-pelite components in the Paleoproterozoic basement, and have undergone some degree of fractional crystallization. The volcaniclastic rocks have mostly negative εHf(t) values with partially positive (−27.54 to 8.73), and zircons with negative εHf(t) values (−27.54 to −0.14) show TDM2 ages of 3.79 to 1.63 Ga. Combined with petrographic and geochemical data, we suggest that the Damingshan volcaniclastic rocks were derived from Neoarchean-Neoproterozoic crustal materials and the felsic parental magma has undergone some degree of magma mixing with mantle material, and deposited soon after a Late Ordovician volcanic eruption (later than 451 Ma). Integrated with previous studies, our new data support the intracontinental orogenic model to account for the Early Paleozoic tectonic evolution. Thus, we suggest that the Early Paleozoic tectonic setting of the SCB was intracontinental orogeny rather than oceanic subduction-collision.

The properties of ancient magmatic arcs are crucial for understanding the tectonic evolution of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt. The Middle Devonian Kulumudi Formation in the Laofengkou area of West Junggar lacks accurate chronological data constraints, which hampers the knowledge of the nature of the Late Paleozoic magmatic arcs in the West Junggar and circum-Balkhash areas. In this contribution, samples of pyroclastic rocks and sedimentary rocks were collected from the volcano–sedimentary strata of the Kulumudi Formation. Petrography, zircon U-Pb-Hf isotopic analysis and whole-rock geochemistry were carried out to constrain the age and the tectonic setting of the Kulumudi Formation. The zircon U-Pb age of the lithic crystal tuff from the Kulumudi Formation on the northeast side of the Alemale Mountains was 386 ± 2 Ma, accurately indicating that this rock unit formed during the Middle Devonian. However, the fine sandstone near the Huojierte Mongolian Township, originally assigned as the “Kulumudi Formation”, yielded a maximum depositional age of 341 ± 3 Ma. Combined with the stratigraphic contact, this rock unit was redefined to belong to the Lower Carboniferous Jiangbasitao Formation. According to the whole-rock geochemistry study, the lithic crystal tuff of the Kulumudi Formation was characterized as medium potassium–calc–alkaline series rock, which is relatively enriched in light rare earth elements and large ion lithophile elements (i.e., Rb, Ba, K) and depleted in high-field-strength elements (i.e., Nb, Ta, Ti), showing similar geochemical characteristics to the volcanic arc rocks. By contrast, the fine sandstone from the Jiangbasitao Formation had Al2O3/SiO2 (0.25–0.29) and K2O/Na2O (1.29–1.72) ratios close to those derived from the continental arc and active continental margin and was characterized as part of the continental arc field in the La-Th-Sc and Th-Sc-Zr/10 tectonic discrimination diagrams. Zircon Hf isotope analysis showed that the εHf(t) values of the Kulumudi Formation were +5.6–+12.8, and those of the Jiangbasitao Formation were +11.43–+15.48, both of which show highly positive juvenile characteristics. The above data indicate that the Kulumudi Formation and Jiangbasitao Formation both formed in a juvenile arc setting with ocean–continent subduction. Combined with the previous work, it was concluded that the southward subduction of the ocean basin represented by the Darbut–Karamay ophiolitic mélanges beneath the newly accreted arc crustal segments produced a juvenile arc with positive Hf isotope characteristics.

The tectonic setting of Jiangda-Weixi magmatic belt is still controversy. Two different interpretations include the eastward subduction of Longmucuo-Shuanghu-Changning-Menglian Paleo-Tethys main ocean basin, and the westward subduction and subsequent collision of Jinshajiang Paleo-Tethys main ocean basin. These controversies concern different models for tectonic evolution of Paleo-Tethys. A new set of intrusive complex has been discovered in Pantiange area, the southern part of Jiangda-Weixi magmatic belt. The main components include dioritic, granodioritic and granitic rocks, which have been mylonitized. The zircons from granitic rocks have U-Pb mean age of (243.0±4.8) Ma. The age is considered as crystallization age of granitic rocks. Dioritic rocks have high contents of Na2O and Al2O3, and moderate content of K2O, suggesting they belong to metaluminous and calc-alkaline series. Granodioritic rocks has high contents of K2O and Al2O3, but low content of Na2O, suggesting they belong to peraluminous and shoshonite, high potassium calc-alkaline series. Granitic rocks have moderate content of Na2O and low content of K2O, and belong to metaluminous-peraluminous and low-potassium series. All three types of rocks are enriched in LILEs (such as Rb, Th, U), depleted in HFSEs (such as Nb, Ta, P, Ti) and LILEs (such as Ba, Sr), with high values of LREE/HREE ratio. The dioritic rocks have no obvious Eu anomaly, whereas granodioritic and granitic rocks show weak negative Eu anomaly. The granitic rocks have zircon εHf(t) values of-11.92--8.54, whole rocks initial 87Sr/86Sr ratio of 0.717 229-0.725 994, and εNd(t) values of-14.2--7.8. These characteristics show that dioritic magmatism is formed by partial melting of Paleoproterozoic basaltic lower crust; granodioritic magmatism is formed by partial melting of metamorphic mudstones of Paleoproterozoic upper crust with the addition of mantle material; granitic magmatism originates from partial melting of metamorphic graywacke in Paleoproterozoic upper crust, and then underground crystallization fractionation with the addition of mantle material. Combined with regional tectonic setting and petrogeochemical characteristics, it is proposed that Jiangda-Weixi magmatic belt is formed by the eastwards subduction of Paleo-Tethys. Location of the southwestern suture zone between Yangtze and Cathaysia blocks remains a controversial issue in South China tectonic research. This paper presents new LA-ICP-MS U–Pb geochronological and Hf isotopic data of detrital zircons obtained from the Nanhua System in Yingyangguan region of northeastern Guangxi and discusses their provenance and sedimentary tectonic setting of the Nanhua System. By comparison with the recently published detrital zircon geochronological and Hf isotopic data of the coeval Nanhua System in Longsheng region of northern Guangxi along the southeastern margin of the Yangtze Block and of the Neoproterozoic strata in Cathaysia block, this study attempts to constrain the southwestern suture zone or the boundary between Yangtze and Cathaysia blocks. The Nanhua System in Yingyangguan region includes Tianzidi and Zhengyuanling formations. The U–Pb ages of 107 grains from Tianzidi Formation are peaked at 0.65–0.72 Ga, 0.72–0.80 Ga, 0.90–1.30 Ga, 1.40–2.25 Ga, and 2.35–2.94 Ga. The U–Pb ages of 106 grains from the Zhengyuanling Formation are peaked at 0.65–0.72 Ga, 0.72–0.90 Ga, 0.90–1.30 Ga, 1.40–2.10 Ga, and 2.40–2.92 Ga. Most of the U–Pb ages of detrital zircon grains cluster at 0.90–1.30 Ga, demonstrating a remarkable difference from the coeval Nanhua System in Longsheng region, and suggesting the Cathaysia Block as a major source of sediments for the Nanhua System in the Yingyangguan region. The εHf(t) values of the detrital zircon grains from the Nanhua System of the Yingyangguan region are mostly positive (0–10); they are different from those of the Longsheng region of northern Guangxi where they are mainly negative (− 10 to − 2), but similar to the Cathaysia Block (− 3 to 5). Based on the new detrital zircon U–Pb ages and Hf isotopic data, it is suggested that the southwestern suture zone or the boundary between Cathaysia and Yangtze blocks is located in the area between Yingyangguan and Longsheng area of Guangxi. The Qimantag in the East Kunlun Orogenic Belt has widespread Triassic magmatic rocks that have received scant attention, with an unresolved issue relating to its petrogenesis and geodynamics. In this paper, we used zircon U–Pb–Hf isotopes and whole-rock geochemistry to trace the petrogenesis and tectonic settings of the moyite and monzogranite from the Qimantag Alananshan, East Kunlun. The moyite and monzogranite are silicic (SiO2 ~ 69.9–76.41%), highly alkali (Na2O + K2O ~ 7.29 to 8.96 wt.%), with Mg# about 10.4–30.34, indicative of a high-K calc-alkaline rock series. The rare earth element patterns diagram is right-leaning, with a negative Eu anomaly (δEu = 0.31–0.68). They are enriched in Rb, K, and light rare earth elements but depleted in Nb, Ta, and Ti, with abundant amphibole, typical of I-type granites. U–Pb on zircon constrained the emplacement of the moyite at 223.9 ± 2.6 Ma and monzogranite at 226.9 ± 2.9 Ma. The εHf(t) values range from − 2.8 to + 0.1 except for one outlier value of − 7.0, corresponding two-stage model age of 1249–1437 Ma. Our combined geochemical and isotopic results indicate that the moyite and monzogranite were derived from partial melting of the lower thicken crust with the contribution from the older basement materials. The Eastern Kunlun orogenic belt (EKOB) is located in southern margin of the Qaidam Basin. After the evolution of the Proto-Tethys Ocean and the Paleo-Tethys Ocean, the geological structure is complex and diverse in the EKOB. Herein, the results of geochronological, geochemical, Hf isotope, and electron probe analyses are presented for the Jianhei Mountain diorite in the EKOB. The results of the geochemical studies show that the rock is enriched in Al, Ca, and Fe, depleted in Ni and Cr, and contains moderate amounts of Mg. The samples exhibit a high degree of fractionation of light and heavy rare earth elements (REEs), with the light REEs being enriched, and the heavy REEs being depleted. Furthermore, the samples are enriched in the large ion lithophile elements, and depleted in the high field strength elements. The Jianhei Mountain diorite yields a weighted mean zircon U-Pb dating age of 251.3 ±1.8 Ma, which is in the Early Triassic. The Zircon Hf isotope analysis gives a zircon (Eu/Eu⋆)N value that ranges from −5.2 to −3.3, and the two-stage model age is 1244–1342 Ma. Combined with other geochemical characteristics, it can be concluded that the source area of the Jianhei Mountain diorite is dominated by Mesoproterozoic crustal materials, with a small amount of mantle material involved in the petrogenetic process. In addition, the results of electron probe micro-analysis show that the MgO content of the hornblende is 9.57–10.40%, the Mg/(Mg + Fe2+) ratio is 0.49–0.52, the Mg content is 2.15–2.31, the Ca content is 1.71–1.80, and the total of Fe3+ + Fe2+ is 2.04–2.17. The MgO content of the biotite is 8.47–9.31%, and the Fe2+/(Mg + Fe2+) ratio is 0.50–0.52. In accordance with previous studies, the mineral compositions of the hornblende and biotite are closely related to their genesis. It can be concluded that the hornblende and biotite of the Jianhei Mountain diorite have the characteristics of a crust-mantle mixed source. Overall, the present authors believe that the Jianhei Mountain diorite is the product of partial melting of the lower crust in the tectonic background of the northward subduction of the Paleo-Tethys Ocean, with a small amount of mantle material involved in the petrogenetic process. Many sandstone-type uranium mineralization sites have been identified along the northern margin of the Qaidam Basin in North China. Intense tectonism and multistage magmatism that occurred there have restricted the use of conventional techniques (petrogeochemistry) to deduce the sources of detritus and uranium in these sediments, and to further explore the sandstone-type uranium deposits. In this study, U-Pb geochronological and Hf isotopic analyses were conducted on detrital zircon grains collected from Jurassic to Paleogene sandstones exposed in the Yuqia area of the Qaidam Basin. The results indicate that the U-Pb ages of the analyzed zircon grains are clustered into four groups, 285–229, 498–401, 999–806, and 2 520–2 305 Ma. The εHf(t) of the analyzed zircon grains ranges from -21.9 to +10.5, with two-stage Hf model ages (TDM2) concentrated between 2.1 and 1.3 Ga. Based on paleocurrent studies and results of petrological, detrital zircon geochronology, and Hf isotopic analyses, the Jurassic sediments in the Yuqia area were likely derived from the tectonic belt along the northern margin of the Qaidam Basin, such as the Qilian Mountains and the Quanji Block. In contrast, the Paleogene sediments were probably sourced from the northern margin of the Qaidam Basin and the Qilian Mountains. The uranium and thorium content and Th/U value of the rock mass and sedimentary strata in the source area show that the Indosinian Early Paleozoic uranium-rich granites and the Middle Jurassic uranium-rich strata of the northern margin of the Qaidam tectonic belt in the source area provide dual uranium sources for the Yuqia sandstone-type uranium mineralization. We present integrated in situ zircon U–Pb and Hf isotope data, along with whole‐rock and mineral chemistry data for the Salari granite of western Arunachal Himalaya to constrain its emplacement age, origin, and geodynamic evolution. The investigated Salari granites are high Fe2O3, CaO, and Nb, and low SiO2 and Rb/Sr ratio with fractionated rare earth element patterns ((Ce/Yb)N = 9.90–20.24) and minor negative Eu anomaly (Eu/Eu* = 0.69–0.94). They are metaluminous (molar A/CNK = 0.93–1.07) and have relatively similar FeOt/MgO ratio in biotite (1.58–1.60) to Mg‐biotite, indicating their affinity with I‐type granites. The enrichment of large‐ion lithophile elements with highly depleted negative Nb anomalies is consistent with their origin in a subduction‐related environment. Our zircon U–Pb ages suggest that the magmatic emplacement of the Salari granite took place between 1,791 and 1,768 Ma. The zircon grains have mostly negative εHf(t) values up to −5.5 and yield crustal Hf model ages from 2.4 to 2.8 Ga, suggesting the occurrence of a major crustal growth event in the Neoarchean and re‐melting of the crust during the Palaeoproterozoic. Our new results, that is, zircon U–Pb age and Hf isotope data, in conjunction with the field observations and petro‐mineralogical and geochemical characteristics, suggest that the Salari granite of eastern Himalaya was produced by partial melting of older metabasaltic/metatonalitic rocks in a continental arc setting of the supercontinent Columbia during the Palaeoproterozoic. Magmatic zircon tends to present characteristic trends in trace element compositions in response to magma petrogenesis and metallogenesis, such that zircon may provide a window into melt evolution not accessible by whole rock chemistry. The Yangla large Cu deposit is located in the central part of the Jinshajiang Suture Zone, southwest China, constrained between the Jinshajiang and Yangla Faults. In this study, the trace elements and hafnium isotopic compositions of zircons from quartz diorite were studied. Previous published relevant data of Yangla granitoid plutons (i.e., dioritic enclave, granodiorite, and quartz monzonite porphyry) also have been systematically cited and discussed. The result shows that the crystallization temperature and two-stage Hf mode ages (tCDM; the age of the source rocks for the magmas) gradually increased while the oxygen fugacity (fO2) and εHf(t) values gradually decreased, corresponding to the diorite enclave (~232 Ma), through granodiorite (~208 Ma) and quartz monzonite porphyry (~202 Ma), and to quartz diorite (~195 Ma). It is suggested that four plutons were from the same three-component mixing of upper crust + lower crust + mantle magmas, while the upper crustal metasediments ratios were gradually increased from the early to late stage. The increasing upper crust inputs resulted in higher melting temperatures and compositions of the initial magma. All melts experienced distinct fractional crystallization of apatite, titanite, and amphibole, and the later granite melts experienced higher assimilation and fractional crystallization degrees than the early ones in the evolution processes four stages of intrusive rocks. These Yangla granitoids are the products of large-scale acid magmatic emplacement activities in the Triassic-early Jurassic and have a good metallogenic potential of the Cu-W polymetallic deposit. Timing of the collision between India and Eurasian plate is still debated. In this paper, zircon U-Pb geochronology, whole rock geochemistry and zircon Hf isotope analysis have been carried out for the Tuolong intrusion exposed in the middle of Linzhou County, Tibet, in order to further constrain the collision time of the India- Eurasian plate. The quartz monzonite porphyry outcropped in Tuolong pluton intruded into the Pana Formation as stock. Zircon U-Pb dating results show that the quartz monzonite porphyry was formed in Eocene (50. 5±0. 6 Ma) with εHf (f) value of -0.6 to - 0.5. Quartz monzonite porphyries display metaluminous and shoshonitic characteristics with low A/CNK and high K2O/Na2O value and high K20 contents. They are generally depleted in high field strength elements (Nb, Ta, Ti and P) and enriched in large ion lithophile elements (Th, U and Pb). Chondrite-normalized REE patterns are characterized by high (La/Yb)N values (15.3 ~ 16.3) with weak negative Eu anoma-lies (0.56~0.69), the differentiation of light and heavy rare earth elements is obvious. The low A/CNK value, the negative correlation between P2O5 and SiO2, and the positive correlation between Y content and Rb content indicate that the quartz monzonite porphyry is I-type granite. Combined with results of previous studies, it is considered that the Tuolong quartz monzonite porphyry may be the product of partial melting of the relatively ancient metamorphic intermediate-basic rock, and was formed as the consequences of subduction and break-off caused by the India- Eurasian plate collision, indicating that the India-Asia continent collision should have occurred before 50 Ma. Detrital zircons in the matrix of an accretionary complex play an important role in providing evidence to reconstruct oceanic plate subduction and accretion processes. The Nadanhada accretionary complex (NAC) dominated by the Yuejinshan, Raohe and Tongjiang accretionary complexes provides significant geological evidence to better understand the Paleo-Pacific subduction–accretion process. Most previous studies have focused on the Yuejinshan and Raohe accretionary complexes, while those of the Tongjiang accretionary complex on the north side have focused on blocks. In this study, we present zircon U–Pb dating and Hf isotopic data for the matrix of metasedimentary rock in the Tongjiang accretionary complex. The analysis results show that the zircons in the fine silty mudstone, phyllonite and fine argillaceous siltstone define the youngest weighted mean ages (youngest detrital zircon ages) of 261.4 ± 2.9 Ma (247 Ma), 175.2 ± 4.9 Ma (169 Ma) and 168.6 ± 2.1 Ma (162 Ma), respectively, and yield a younging trend of the accretion materials from west to east. Provenance analysis indicates that the matrix was mainly sourced from the neighboring Jiamusi and Xingkai blocks. Based on previous results of the Permian and Late Triassic blocks in the Yuejinshan region, the Permian and Early Jurassic blocks in the Tongjiang region, and the Late Triassic and Early–Middle Jurassic blocks in the Raohe region, as well as the lower limit of the depositional age of the Late Triassic matrix in the Yuejinshan region and the Middle Jurassic and Early Cretaceous matrices in the Raohe region, we propose that the NAC may record the Late Permian–Triassic, Jurassic and Early Cretaceous oceanic accretion events, representing the westward subduction and accretion process of the Paleo–Pacific Ocean Plate.

The Qaidam Precambrian block is located in the northeastern Tibetan Plateau and was intruded by numerous Ordovician-Devonian granitoids during and after the closure of the Proto-Tethys Ocean. In the past 20 years, the granitoids within early Paleozoic subduction-collision belts have been investigated in detail. However, the granitoids intruding the inner part of the Qaidam block, bearing the tectonic significance for the whole block, still need to be understood. This study presents new whole-rock geochemical and zircon U-Pb-Hf isotopic data for the Huatugou granitoids in the Qaidam Precambrian block. The investigated granitoids include granodiorite, monzogranite, biotite granite, and muscovite granite, which intruded the Precambrian basements during 451–400 Ma. The granodiorites (451 ± 6 Ma) display adakitic geochemical features and syn-tectonic textures, and their magmas were generated by the partial melting of the lower mafic crust within a thickened continent. The muscovite granites (410 ± 6 Ma), with negative zircon εHf(t) values of −14.5 to −10.4, were crystallized from fractionated S-type magmas, which were derived from the partial melting of ancient crustal materials. The biotite granite (410 ± 3 Ma) and monzogranites (400 ± 4 Ma) are high-temperature A2-type granites. The biotite granite displays positive zircon εHf(t) values of +1.7 to +5.6. Its magma was generated by the high-temperature partial melting of juvenile crustal rocks in a thinned lower crust. The monzogranites exhibit higher SiO2 contents and lower εHf(t) values, and their magmas were derived from the same source but underwent assimilation and fractional crystallization during emplacement. From the thickened to the thinned continent during 451–410 Ma, the western Qaidam block experienced a tectonic transition from compression to extension. Combined with regional geological data, this study suggests that the Qaidam block consisted of the thickened continental crust during subduction processes until the detachment of the subducted slab during the continental collision. The regional extension of the Qaidam block commenced at ∼420 Ma, soon after the exhumation of ultrahigh-pressure metamorphic rocks within the northern Qaidam subduction-collision complex belt.

We report systematical zircon U–Pb datings, Hf isotopic data, major and trace element date on the Zhangshiying (ZSY) and the Taishanmiao (TSM) two plutons at the southern margin of the North China Craton (NCC), in order to investigate their petrogenesis and geological evolution. LA-ICP-MS U–Pb zircon of the ZSY and TSM granites dating yield a weighted mean 206Pb/238U age of 122.8 ± 1.5 Ma and 112.1 ± 3.2 Ma. The ZSY quartz syenite enriched in SiO2 (65.59–68.1 wt.%), Al2O3 (15.39–15.64 wt.%), high Sr (468–666 ppm), Sr/Y (35–45), (La/Yb)N (20.1–22.1) ratios, low Y(13.1–16.6 ppm), Yb (1.46–1.77 ppm), depleted in Nb, Ta, P, Ti, Mg, Y and negligible Eu anomalies, which suggesting that the quartz syenite are similar to adakitic rocks. Zircons from this pluton give εHf(t) values from −17.6 to −5.7 with an average of −15.2, and their TDM2 ages (1.29–1.91 Ga) are much younger than the basement rocks of the south margin of the NCC, which indicate that the ZSY quartz syenite were generated by partial melting of thickened lower crust with minor involvement of mantle-derived materials. The TSM pluton has characteristic of A-type granite, such as, high SiO2 (69.7–71.87 wt.%), total alkalis (Na2O + K2O = 8.5 to 9.41 wt.%), HFSE (Zr, Nb, Ga, Y), low CaO (0.27–1.25 wt.%), Ba, Sr and Eu. Their εHf(T) values ranges from −12.4 to −1.6 with an average of −7.6 and TDM2 ranges from 1.10 to 1.63 Ga with an average of 1.38 Ma. We propose that the TSM granites results from partial melting of tonalitic crustal sources with a plagioclase-rich residual at high temperatures and low pressure. Materials input from the mantle also is involved for the higher εHf(t) values than tonalitic crustal at the southern margin of NCC and high temperatures. Our results suggested that the thickened LCC at the south margin of the NCC is still existence before the intrusive of the ZSY adakitic rocks (∼123 Ma). During the intrusive of the TSM granites (∼112 Ma) it turns to extensional environment. This extensional event reflects the background of lithospheric thinning and decratonization of NCC.

Demingding is a promising porphyry Mo-dominated deposit recently discovered in the eastern Gangdese metallogenic belt in Tibet, China. We present zircon U-Pb-Lu-Hf isotopic studies, as well as geochemical data of the late monzogranites and the prior rhyolites from the Demingding porphyry deposit to uncover their origin and geodynamic mechanism. Zircon U–Pb dating yielded precise crystallization ages of 17.3 ± 0.6 Ma (MSWD = 2.5) and 186.5 ± 3.0 Ma (MSWD = 2.0) for monzogranite and rhyolite, respectively. The monzogranite is characterized by high-K calc-alkaline, adakitic affinities, and positive zircon εHf(t) values (+0.9∼+5.6, avg.+3.1) with TDM2 (0.73–1.04 Ga), while the rhyolite has εHf(t) values of (+2.1∼+7.3, avg.+5.2) and TDM2 of (0.76–1.09 Ga) similar to the monzogranite. Our results suggest that the Demingding porphyry Mo (Cu) deposit is related to magma generated from the Neo-Tethyan oceanic subduction. The subsequent monzogranite porphyry was likely formed by the remelting of previously subduction-modified arc lithosphere, triggered by continental collision crustal thickening in Miocene. The lower positive εHf(t) values of monzogranites suggest minor inputs from the Mo-rich ancient crust, suggesting that Mo favors the silicate melt. Such magmatic events and special metallogenesis typify intracontinental processes and porphyry copper deposits, which are normally confined to oceanic subduction and Cu-dominated style, thereby making the continental setting and Mo-dominated style of Demingding exceptional and possibly unique. The detrital zircon U-Pb dating and in situ Hf isotopic compositions were analysed using(MC-)LAICP-MS on the ferrallite and Li-rich claystone of the Upper Permian Heshan Formation in Pingguo, western Guangxi. Together with available detrital zircon U-Pb ages of ferrallite, this study reveals the provenance of the Li-rich claystone. Analytical results show that the U-Pb ages of detrital zircons from ferrallite are mainly concentrated at ~ 430 Ma, along with a subordinate peak at ~ 258 Ma. In contrast, the Li-rich claystone(with chemical compositions of SiO2 30. 5%, Al 2O3 34. 2%, Fe2O T 315. 2%, Li 981×10 -6 ) shows the age peak at ~258 Ma, with corresponding zircon εHf(t) of -9. 7 to +11. 4, which are similar to those of island arc magma -derived zircons. This indicates that the Li-rich claystone was mainly sourced from the Permian felsic igneous rocks related to Paleo-Tethys arc magmatism. Tempo-spatial variations of provenances of bauxite-bearing rocks of the Heshan Formation suggest that paleogeographic variations play an important role in the formation of bauxite in western Guangxi. The Yinan area is located in the southeastern margin of North China Craton. There are lots of Late Mesozoic magmatic rocks in the area, which is an important case to study the North China Craton destruction and the intense crust-mantle interaction. Petrography, zircon U-Pb dating, geochemical and Sr-Nd-Pb-Hf isotope characteristics of the typical intrusive rocks in the area were carried out. The zircon U-Pb ages of quartz diorite and monzonite granite porphyry are（130.4±0.7）Ma and（129.5±0.6）Ma, respectively, indicating that the rocks form in Early Cretaceous. Geochemical characteristics show that the dioritic rocks are Na-rich but K-poor, belonging to cal-alkaline metaluminous series. The dioritic rocks are geochemically similar to high magnesian andesite/diorite and adakites. The rocks are enriched in LILEs and depleted in HFSEs. The chondrite-normalized REE patterns are right-inclined, LREE is steeper and HREE is gentler, there is no negative or weak Eu positive anomalies. The monzonitic granite porphyries are peraluminous and show high contents of Si and alkalis, low abundances of TFe2O3, MgO and CaO. The rocks are evidently depleted in Eu, belonging to highly differentiated I-type granite. Isotopic geochemical characteristics show that the εHf（t） values of the monzonitic granite porphyries are obviously lower than those of dioritic rocks. The dioritic rocks are more enriched in Pb isotopes than the monzonitic granite porphyries. Combined with the regional geological data, it is considered that Early Cretaceous intrusion in the area likely forms in the extensional background of the rotation of paleo-Pacific plate. The upwelling of the asthenosphere promotes partial melting of the overlying EM1+EM2 enriched mantles. The basaltic magma intrudes into the lower crust and mixes with the felsic magma in varying degrees in the lower crust to form dioritic magma. Felsic magma absorbs a small amount of mantle-derived basic magma, and experiences strong differentiation and evolution to form the monzonitic granite porphyries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study presents new data from zircon U–Pb dating and Hf isotope analysis, as well as whole-rock major- and trace-element compositions of the Hongtaiping high-Mg diorite in the Wangqing area of Yanbian, NE China. Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA–ICP–MS) zircon U–Pb dating gives an eruption age of ca. 267 Ma for the high-Mg diorite. These samples have MgO contents of 13.30% to 16.58% and high transition metal element concentrations, classified as sanukite. Their rare earth element (REE) contents range from 45.2 to 68.4 ppm and are characterized by slightly positive Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 1.08–1.17). They show enrichment in light REEs (LREEs) and depletion in heavy REEs (HREEs), with LREE/HREE ratios = 6.54–6.97 and (La/Yb)N values = 7.24–8.08. The Hongtaiping high-Mg diorite is enriched in Rb, U, K, and Sr, but depleted in Th, Nb, and Ta. High MgO contents, Mg# values, and transition metal element concentrations imply that the magma experienced insignificant crystallization fractionation and crustal contamination. Relatively homogenous positive Hf isotopic values indicate that the original magma was generated by the partial melting of a depleted mantle wedge that was metasomatized by subducting slab fluids. The magma was generated by the moderate degree partial melting (20%–30%) of a garnet lherzolite source. Combined with previous studies, this shows that the high-Mg diorite was formed by the northward subduction of the Paleo-Asian oceanic plate during the Middle Permian. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Megacrystic zircons have recently been found in alluvial deposits in the Huadian area of northeastern China. However, studies have rarely been conducted on these zircons. In this article, we present systematic in situ trace element, U-Pb age and Hf isotope data regarding these Huadian zircons, with the aim of investigating their source characteristics and provenance. The studied zircons, with a diameter of 0.7–1.2 cm, are dominantly irregular in shape and have a rounded termination, with a color ranging from near-colorless to reddish brown to maroon. The zircons show oscillatory zoning in CL images, with a Th/U value of 0.18–1.27, which is consistent with the typical features of magmatic zircons. The positive εHf(t) value of Huadian zircons (4.8–9.2) further indicates the presence of precipitation from the mantle-derived melt, with limited contamination of the crustal components. The obtained weighted mean 206Pb/238U age for these zircons is 17.9 ± 0.12 Ma, which is slightly older than the eruptional ages of the associated alkali basalts (from 17.6 ± 1.09 Ma to 17.8 ± 0.69 Ma), implying a short residence time in the mantle before entrainment. Huadian zircons incorporate a wide range of trace elements, including ΣREE (117–2790 ppm), Hf (4902–11856 ppm) and Y (145–3645 ppm) contents, generating mixed-source protolith assignments. As is suggested by the moderate variations seen in the Hf isotopes, we propose that the source melts of Huadian zircons are complex in nature, which is likely the result of the chemical heterogeneity of the upper mantle.

The Gacun deposit is a typical Volcanic Hosted Massive Sulfide (VHMS) associated with Late Triassic seafloor calc-alkaline felsic volcanics. Studies of zircon ages, petrology, major and trace element geochemistry, and Sr-Nd-Hf isotope geochemistry of volcanic rocks from the Northern Yidun arc were undertaken in this paper. We reshaped the Gacun magmatic system activity time, defined the origin of magma evolution, and proposed a metallogenic model of the deposit. Whole-rock major element compositions of the magmatic rocks in the Northern Yidun island arc indicate that they are a complete basalt–andesite–dacite–rhyolite assemblage, showing three obvious stages of composition evolution. They are enriched in large-ion lithophile and light rare earth elements, but depleted in high field-strength and heavy rare earth elements, with weak-to-negligible Eu anomalies (obvious in rhyolite). These geochemical features indicate that the Northern Yidun island arc is a magmatic arc based on ancient continental crust. The Ganzi–Litang oceanic subduction induced mantle melting and produced calc-alkaline basaltic magma, while the MASH processes at the bottom of the crust produced andesitic magma. Part of the andesite magma erupted to form andesite lava. The remaining part was mixed with magma produced via anatexis of ancient crust (approximately 20%–40% of the ancient crustal component), forming the ore-bearing rhyolite. Zircon U-Pb age data defines Gacun magmatic–hydrothermal mineralization sequence of events: At 238 Ma, arc magmatism led to the formation of andesite in the eastern part of the deposit. At 233 Ma, in the arc zone (the western part of Gacun deposit), a large-scale bimodal magmatism formed the main ore-bearing rock series of Gacun deposit, rhyolitic volcanic rocks. At 221 Ma, volcanic eruptions tended to end and sub-volcanic intrusion occurred, forming a lava dome, which was located under the ore-bearing rhyolitic volcanic rocks. The lava dome acted as a thermal engine and promoted hydrothermal circulation. The hydrothermal activity reached a peak at 217 ± 1 Ma, and the Gacun VHMS deposit was formed.

The Yangshan gold belt is renowned for its igneous rock formations, particularly dykes that form in tectonically weak zones. Some of these rock formations exhibit a close spatial relationship with gold mineralization, and a tiny portion of the granitic dykes serve as gold ore bodies by themselves. In order to investigate the nature of granitic dykes and their association with gold mineralization, we conducted a comprehensive study consisting of zircon U-Pb chronology, petrography, and in situ Hf isotope analysis of 25 granitic dyke samples collected from east to west across the belt. According to LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating results, the granitic dykes inherited zircon ages that are concentrated between 745.0 and 802.0 Ma, and magmatic intrusion ages that mainly fall between 201.0 and 213 Ma. Moreover, the granitic dykes display a calc-alkaline to high-K calc-alkaline peraluminous series, which is relatively enriched in light over heavy REE, with moderate Eu anomalies. These dykes are rich in large-ion lithophile elements and poor in high-field-strength elements. The zircon Lu-Hf isotope data range from εHf(t) values of −1.5 to 0.1, mantle model (TDM1) ages range from 859 to 937 Ma, and crustal model (TDM2) ages range from 1111 to 1218 Ma. The granitic dykes found in the Yangshan gold belt were formed between 200 and 213 Ma ago, during a period of intracontinental extension following the late collision between the Yangtze plate and Qinling microplates. These dykes originated from the volcanic basement of the Mesoproterozoic Bikou Group, which was formed by the melting of the upper crust under the crustal thickening caused by the subduction and collision of the Qinling microplate. Subsequently, the dykes were transported along a tectonically weak zone, assimilating surrounding rocks and undergoing a transformation from “I”-type to “S”-type granite before finally evolving into granite with specific “A”-type characteristics. Our study provides new insights into the petrogenesis of granitic dykes in the Yangshan gold belt, as well as the relationship between gold mineralization and magmatic activity, which has significant implications for mineral exploration and the geological understanding of gold mineralization in this region.

The large Bayanbaolege Ag polymetallic ore deposit is located in the Tuquan-Linxi Fe (Sn)-Cu-Pb-Zn-Ag-Nb (Ta) polymetallic metallogenic belt, which is an important part of the Great Xing'an Range metallogenic province, northeast China. The sulfide–quartz vein-type orebodies in the deposit are mainly hosted in the Cretaceous granodiorite porphyry and Late Permian Linxi formation. The U-Pb dating of the zircon from the post-ore diorite porphyrite yields an age of 124.8 ± 1.1 Ma, which constrains the mineralization time at the Early Cretaceous. The Sr-Nd isotope values (87Sr/86Sr)i = 0.708576~0.710536; εNd (t) = −0.51~+0.69; the Hf isotope values 176Hf/177Hf = 0.2827278~0.2830095, the εHf (t) = +3.1~+11.2, TDM2 = 615~1341 Ma of the metallogenic granodiorite porphyry. The Hf isotope values 176Hf/177Hf = 0.2828596~0.2829451, and the εHf (t) = +5.7~+8.8 of the diorite porphyrite, TDM2 = 827~1108 Ma, indicating that the ore-forming materials were the possible involvement of heterogeneous juvenile sources including moderately depleted mantle and newly underplated lower crust. The major and trace elements (including REEs) implied that these intrusions are the I-type granite and linked intimately to the westward subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Ocean plate. From these whole-rock major and trace elements and zircon U-Pb ages, as well as Sr-Nd-Hf isotope data, we conclude that the ore-associated I-type granites in the Bayanbaolege deposit formed in an extensional tectonic setting of the Early Cretaceous, and are compactly related to the retreat of the Paleo-Pacific Ocean subducted plate linked intimately to the westward subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Ocean plate rather than the closure of the Mongol–Okhotsk Ocean. Furthermore, by integrating geological background work and previous research work, implying the mineralization age of the Bayanbaolege deposit should have been formed in the 125–130 Ma.
