This article describes community service activities (PkM) that aim to improve the knowledge and skills of the Komunitas peduli Skizofrenia Indonesia (KPSI - Indonesian Schizophrenia Care Community) in developing educational materials during and after the COVID-19 pandemic for people with mental disorders (ODGJ). ODGJ is part of the community which is also expected to contribute to reducing the rate of COVID-19 infection. Schizophrenia is a form of severe mental disorder. KPSI is a community that supports people with schizophrenia (ODS), families and caregivers, as well as people who care about health issues. KPSI's support for ODS is carried out through various social media. Nevertheless, limited resources have made KPSI unable to perform optimally. For this reason, the Team consisting of lecturers from Universitas Terbuka and psychiatrists from outside UT collaborated to facilitate material development, provide training on material production in various media, and provide training on the use of media for KPSI, as well as facilitate the need for work equipment. It is hoped that with this PkM activity, KPSI as a PkM activity partner can improve the quality of the materials and disseminate the materials developed so that KPSI's target is to provide education during and after the COVID-19 pandemic in the ODS environment, families and caregivers, as well as people who care. with mental health issues can be done more optimally. This PkM activity has succeeded in developing educational content that has been broadcast on YouTube, Instagram, and KPSI's Facebook. Partners rate Pk Mini activities positively.

BACKGROUND The short version of the new brief job stress questionnaire (SV-NBJSQ) that is originally in Japanese could evaluate work-related stress in Indonesian office workers. However, it has not been validated in Indonesian. Thus, this study aimed to test the validity and reliability of the Indonesian version of the SV-NBJSQ. METHODS This study was conducted by linguistic and cultural adaptation of the original Japanese questionnaire into Indonesian and continued with exploratory factor analysis, internal consistency, and reliability test of Cronbach’s alpha. Electronic and paper-based data were collected using total sampling from office workers at two companies in Jakarta from December 2017 to August 2018. RESULTS A total of 438 respondents filled the questionnaire. The final version of the questionnaire consisted of 63 items, screened based on a loading factor of >0.4 and 13 factors (dimensions). Each factor had a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.628–0.887, while the entire 63 had 0.904 with a total documented cumulative variation of 64.97%. CONCLUSIONS The Indonesian version of the SV-NBJSQ is valid and reliable. Thus, we may use it as a more suitable, updated, and comprehensive tool to evaluate work-related stress among office workers.

BACKGROUND: Pregnant women are vulnerable to depression. We hypothesized that the COVID-19 pandemic would increase depression in pregnancy leading to complications to both mother and fetus. AIM: This study is aimed to identify antenatal depression symptoms during the second wave COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS: This was a community-based, cross-sectional study conducted from 10 to 21 June 2021. A number of 130 pregnant women were recruited through both convenience and snowball sampling. An online survey with self-administered Whooley questions was used to assess antenatal depression symptoms. RESULTS: We found elevated antenatal depression symptoms similar to other countries during the COVID-19 pandemic. The prevalence of pregnant women with depression symptoms was 42.3%. The majority of pregnant women who had antenatal depression symptoms had the following characteristics: About 44.75% lived outside Jakarta, 60% had low education (Junior high school and below), 42.9% aged 20–35 years, and 44.8% of them were housewives. CONCLUSION: In Indonesia, the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic affected increasing symptoms of depression among pregnant women. Positive protective factors should be taken to prevent negative impacts of both unidentified and untreated antenatal depression among the pregnant women for the sake of maternal and child health.

BACKGROUND: Anxiety and depression disorders in pregnant women are often not identified so that early treatment is not optimal. Indonesia already has comprehensive integrated antenatal care, including services for pregnant women with mental disorders, but until now Indonesia does not yet have a standardized instrument that is valid and suitable as a screening tool to assess symptoms of anxiety and depression in pregnant women. The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) is a screening instrument with high sensitivity and specificity, has been translated into Indonesian, but until now, the Indonesian version of the EPDS instrument has not been evaluated for validity and reliability in the population of pregnant women. AIM: this study aimed to adapt the Indonesian version of the EPDS instrument, including testing the validity and reliability of the instrument when used on pregnant women in Indonesia. METHODS: This research is a cross sectional study. The number of pregnant women who participated were 125 samples. Data were collected randomly, and the assessment of symptoms of anxiety and depression was self-reported via online. Content validity was assessed with a content validity index from 5 experts, construct validation was analyzed by Explanatory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Convergent Validity. The reliability of the EPDS instrument was assessed by construct reliability and Cronbach's Alpha. RESULTS: Content validity index shows expert agreement with a value of .98. The Indonesian version of the EPDS shows assessing three factors, namely: Depression (5 items), Anxiety (3 items), and Anhedonia (2 items). The reliability of the Indonesian version of the EPDS instrument is good with Cronbach's Alpha .80 and the internal reliability of the 10 items (Cronbach's Alpha .767-.812). CONCLUSION: The Indonesian version of the EPDS instrument is valid and reliable to be used to assess symptoms of anxiety and depression in pregnant women in antenatal care in Indonesia. Meskipun banyak faktor psikososial yang terjadi saat ini pada masyarakat dan berpotensi besar menyebabkan masalah kesehatan jiwa, namun perhatian terhadap aspek kesehatan jiwa hingga saat ini masih minimal. Hal ini salah satunya terjadi akibat kurangnya informasi dan pemahaman tentang masalah kesehatan jiwa. Akibatnya manajemen yang komprehensif, melibatkan banyak sektor, dan mampu melindungi hak asasi orang dengan gangguan jiwa menjadi sulit untuk diciptakan. Hal tersebut berujung pada tidak tertatalaksananya masalahkesehatan jiwa dengan baik dan membawa dampak negatif bagi individu, keluarga, masyarakat, maupun negara. Tulisan ini dibuat dengan cara mengelaborasikan beberapa sumber pustaka, baik lokal maupun internasional, untuk membandingkan kondisi yang ada di Indonesia dengan kondisi yang ada secara global. Beberapa data penelitian digabungkan dengan pendapat kualitatif dari beberapa ahli di bidang kesehatan jiwa juga disajikan.Data-data tersebut diharapkan akan mampu memberikan gambaran tentang besarnya masalah kesehatan jiwa, termasuk dampak yang diakibatkan. Tulisan ini juga akan memberikan pemahaman mengenai apa itu kesehatan jiwa dan gangguan jiwa beserta klasifikasinya. Kesemuanya ditujukan untuk semakin meningkatkan pemahaman dan kesadaran bahwa masalah kesehatan jiwa tidak bisa dipisahkan dari masalah kesehatan, dan merupakan masalah kompleks yang membutuhkan kerja sama setiap unit dalam struktur masyarakat dan berbagai sektor terkait.

Background: Association of rs1344706 in the ZNF804A gene (2q32.1) with schizophrenia was first reported in a genome wide scan conducted in a sample of 479 cases and replicated in 6666 cases. Subsequently, evidence by replication was obtained in several samples with European- and Asian ancestral background. Methods: We report ascertainment, clinical characterization, quality control, and determination of ancestral background of a case control sample from Indonesia, comprising 1067 cases and 1111 ancestry matched controls. Genotyping was performed using a fluorescence-based allelic discrimination assay (TaqMan SNP genotyping assay) and a newly designed PCR-RFLP assay for confirmation of rs1344706 genotypes. Results: We confirmed association of the T-allele of rs1344706 with schizophrenia in a newly ascertained sample from Indonesia with Southeast Asian ancestral background (P = 0.019, OR = 1.155, 95%, CI 1.025-1.301). In addition, we studied several SNPs in the vicinity of rs1344706, for which nominally significant results had been reported. None of the association P values of the additional SNPs exceeded that of rs1344706. Conclusion: We provide additional evidence for association of the ZNF804A gene with schizophrenia. We conclude that rs1344706 or a yet unknown polymorphism in linkage disequilibrium is also involved in conferring susceptibility to schizophrenia in samples with different (Asian) ancestral backgrounds. Diabetes mellitus is often accompanied to schizophrenia patient. This condition probably related to genetic, antipsychotic drugs and the development of schizophrenia that can lead to an unhealthy lifestyle, such as sedentary lifestyle and the increased of dietary intake. Cross-sectional study was held in Psychiatry Department Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital during May to June 2014 to determine the correlation between fasting plasma glucose concentration in schizophrenia patient to their nutritional status indicator and physical activity level. Forty-seven subjects finished the study protocol. The result showed that the fasting plasma glucose concentration in schizophrenia patient has no correlation with nutritional status indicator and physical activity level, in which 91.5% subject had normal fasting plasma glucose. However, there is a need for further investigation because 31.9% subject was overweight, 48.9% subject was obesity and 74.5% subject had central obesity.

Background Physical restraint and confinement (pasung) by families of people with mental illness is known to occur in many parts of the world but has attracted limited investigation. This preliminary observational study was carried out on Samosir Island in Sumatra, Indonesia, to investigate the nature of such restraint and confinement, the clinical characteristics of people restrained, and the reasons given by families and communities for applying such restraint. Methods The research method was cross-sectional observational research in a natural setting, carried out during a six-month period of working as the only psychiatrist in a remote district. Results Fifteen cases of pasung, approximately even numbers of males and females and almost all with a diagnosis of schizophrenia were identified. Duration of restraint ranged from two to 21 years. Discussion and Conclusion The provision of basic community mental health services, where there were none before, enabled the majority of the people who had been restrained to receive psychiatric treatment and to be released from pasung.
