Introduction slides of the panel "Disinformation in the context of health information behaviour" at the ISIC-Conference 2022 in Berlin. Vortrag auf der Jahreskonferenz Forum Privatheit 2022 in Berlin. Der Vortrag gibt einen Überblick über die Ziele und Forschungsfragen des DESIVE²-Projekts sowie des Forschungsdesigns der multimethodisch angelegten Studien. Im Weiteren werden Beispiele, Definitionen und Konzepte vorgestellt, um einen Einblick in den informationswissenschaftlichen Diskurs zu den Wirkungsmechanismen und Auswirkungen von Desinformation auf das Informationsverhalten zu geben., Das Projekt wird gefördert durch das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung im Rahmen der Maßnahme "Forschung Agil - Erkennen und Bekämpfung von digitalen Desinformationskampagnen"

Um die zugrundeliegenden Mechanismen der Verbreitung digitaler (wissenschaftlicher) Desinformation zu verstehen und ihnen später effektiv entgegenzuwirken, ist ein ganzheitliches Bild der relevanten Aspekte von Desinformationsverhalten (DIV) nötig. Ziel des Projekts DESIVE² ist es, über qualitative Methoden im Austausch mit einem Proband:innen-Panel ein vertieftes Verständnis von DIV zu erhalten, das insbesondere betrachtet, welche subjektiven Auslöser zur Verbreitung von wissenschaftlicher Desinformation führen. Das Poster stellt die technische Entwicklung, Implementierung und Betreuung einer App (inkl. Datenbank) vor, die für die medienbruchlose Interaktion und Kommunikation mit dem Proband:innen-Panel sowie die In Situ-Forschung entwickelt wird, und die Sammlung und Bereitstellung von Fallbeispielen für Critical Incidents in wissenschaftlicher Gesundheitsdesinformation umfasst.

Building on the preliminary findings presented here, this work will be developed further by including additional cleaning of location names to improve country assignation. Further analysis of the results by specific country, discipline, and evolution over time, will allow a deeper understanding of the extent to which researchers around the globe engage in local research and geo-contextualize their work in their titles and abstracts. For now, our study found that a small portion of research can be identified as geo-contextualized or local and that, in most fields, publications from the global South make up the larger share of the geo-contextualized work, which also comes with a citation disadvantage. Our results will hopefully contribute to discussions about the growing importance given to local research by funders and other research governance entities and the challenges that this may bring to researchers who must adapt to such a local context while competing in a global research system. &nbsp

Evaluation of information visualization and especially visual information systems is challenging. Metrics and methods need to be chosen with the intend of gaining specific and relevant evaluation data to prove the value of such systems. We suggest an evaluation based on the Information Service Evaluation Model (ISE) for information systems with visual result representation. We present the results of a case study on the testing and implementation of a visual search engine in business.

Google is both a bane and a boon. One of its greatest merits is that it empowers users, even with little IT and/or information retrieval skills, to find information easily on the Web. However, at the same time there is the danger that many users start believing that they are highly information literate. In order to avoid such wrong self-evaluations, multiple choice questionnaires could be a promising approach since they allow a quick (self-) assessment of the respective level of information literacy. This article reports on a survey in which such an information literacy questionnaire was used to assess information literacy of students in a bachelor course providing an introduction to this topic. For this purpose, the test instrument which was developed at the University of Düsseldorf (Beutelspacher 2014a) was slightly adopted to the professional background of the students (business administration). In this article, we will report about the acceptance of this test instrument by the business administration students, about the experienced advantages, the perceived problem areas, and those information literacy aspects which cannot be covered by such an instrument in their opinion.
