Objectives: To assess how skin temperature could be related with gastrocnemius muscle activation and thus detect association between the extensibility of the triceps-surae and the skin temperature pattern. Design: A Cross Sectional Study. Secondary level of care. Setting: Recreational runners from an athletic club. Participants: 57 healthy male subjects with functional equinus condition were recruited (age 42.82 ± 6.97 years, height 173.68 ± 9.79 cm, weight 73.19 ± 8.13 kg, body mass index 20.41 ± 2.48). Main outcome measures: Skin temperature and electromyography of the gastrocnemius muscle before and after running exercise. Results: Skin thermal assessment value for Gastrocnemius muscles were assessed in 57 participants before and after running. We found a significant increase of skin temperature after running deeply related with electromyography values (Confidence interval 95%). The temperature of Gastrocnemius was increased in runners after activity. Conclusions: Thermal imaging is deeply related with muscle pattern activation for lower limb. Based on our findings, we propose that infrared thermography assessment of the gastrocnemius is adequate to check Gastrocnemius muscle activity condition in runners. Background The Nordic hamstring exercise is an effective program in reducing the hamstring injuries, which is one of the most common non-contact lower limb injuries, especially in sports requiring acceleration, maximal sprints, and sudden change in direction of running, as sprinting, soccer, and rugby. Objective To assess the awareness, implementation, and opinion of the worldwide athletes about the Nordic hamstring exercise in preventing hamstring injury. Design A cross-sectional study. Setting An online survey for different sports. Patients (or Participants) A total of 1142 male and female athletes from different sports (American football, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, bodybuilding, boxing, cricket, CrossFit, cycling, soccer, gymnastics, handball, ice hockey, ice skating, judo, ju-jitsu, karate, korfball, lacrosse, modern pentathlon, netball, rugby league, rugby union, running, skateboarding, skiing, snowboarding, softball, squash, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tchoukball, tennis, trampolining, volleyball, weightlifting and wrestling) completed the survey. Interventions (or Assessment of Risk Factors) The questionnaire consisted of questions relating to the awareness level, implementation rate and opinion of the Nordic hamstring exercise. Main Outcome Measurements The primary outcomes were awareness level, implementation rate, and opinion of the effectiveness of the Nordic hamstring exercise in hamstring injury. Results A total of 641 (56%) of the athletes were aware of the Nordic hamstring exercise, 519 (45.4%) were implementing the Nordic hamstring exercise in their current practice. Athletes who implemented the Nordic hamstring exercise reported a positive opinion about the program efficacy, with a score of 8.4 ±1 out of 10. Conclusions Many athletes were aware of the Nordic hamstring exercise and implementing it in their training routine, as they found it effective in decreasing the hamstring injury rates. However, further work needs to be done to educate athletes about the importance of implementing the exercise and its effectiveness in preventing hamstring injury to enhance implementation.

Frozen shoulder is a major musculoskeletal illness in diabetic patients. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of shock wave and corticosteroid injection in the management of diabetic frozen shoulder patients. Fifty subjects with diabetic frozen shoulder were divided randomly into group A (the intra-articular corticosteroid injection group) and group B that received 12 sessions of shock wave therapy, while each patient in both groups received the traditional physiotherapy program. The level of pain and disability, the range of motion, as well as the glucose triad were evaluated before patient assignment to each group, during the study and at the end of the study. Compared to the pretreatment evaluations there were significant improvements of shoulder pain and disability and in shoulder flexion and abduction range of motion in both groups (p &lt, 0.05). The shock wave group revealed a more significant improvement the intra-articular corticosteroid injection group, where p was 0.001 for shoulder pain and disability and shoulder flexion and abduction. Regarding the effect of both interventions on the glucose triad, there were significant improvements in glucose control with group B, where p was 0.001. Shock waves provide a more effective and safer treatment modality for diabetic frozen shoulder treatment than corticosteroid intra-articular injection.
