El mundo tecnológico avanza a pasos agigantados en las últimas dos décadas y la humanidad ha tenido progresos impensables y cada vez más las tecnologías de la información se han integrado a la vida cotidiana de forma paulatina siendo una herramienta de soporte para muchas actividades diarias como son conducir, buscar direcciones, hasta encontrar amigos y pareja. Pero existen muchas áreas en las que todavía no se ha usado todo ese potencial con el que se cuenta, algunas de ellas, casi sin explorar, son las condiciones de discapacidad que tienen muchos seres humanos, siendo para este trabajo punto de interés la condición de las personas que no han desarrollado o han perdido la capacidad auditiva y del habla al mismo tiempo. La condición de discapacidad auditiva y del habla, es un problema que afecta a millones de personas en el mundo, lo cual dificulta sustancialmente la mayoría de las actividades diarias de ésta población, y no permiten que este tipo de personas sean autónomas y parte activa de una sociedad. Ahora bien, si se imagina que posibilidad tiene una persona con discapacidad auditiva y del habla de conversar con una persona del común denominador, esto se vuelve una odisea, ya que la manera de comunicarse de este tipo de población es por señas, mientras que la de una persona normal es a través de la escucha y el habla, ahora si se imagina un escenario donde una persona con este tipo de discapacidad requiere ayuda porque se encuentra perdida, necesitaría pedir orientación a personas que no tienen este tipo de discapacidad, ahora si se presenta otro escenario como por ejemplo contactar a una línea de emergencia, No podría. Dado lo anterior se puede afirmar que existe una exclusión social influenciada por la incapacidad de comunicarse, por tal razón, el presente proyecto pretende, por medio del desarrollo e implementación de una aplicación para dispositivos móviles con sistema operativo Android, brindar una solución alternativa a las barreras de comunicación existentes basadas en el uso de las tecnologías móviles digitales que permita mejorar la calidad de vida de las personas sordomudas ofreciéndoles la posibilidad de comunicarse con otras personas. Given the above, it can be affirmed that there is a social exclusion influenced by the inability to communicate, for this reason, this project aims, through development and implementation of an application for mobile devices with Android operating system, provide a solution alternative to existing communication barriers based on the use of mobile technologies digital that allows to improve the quality of life of deaf people by offering them the possibility of communicating with other people.

Esta investigación estudió la situación de vulnerabilidad en lo educativo y cultural de la población en edad escolar de la comuna 5 en la zona norte de Guadalajara de Buga. El problema en el que se centró la investigación se relaciona con las principales variables y factores que constituyen las condiciones de dicha vulnerabilidad, en especial en la población en edad escolar de la zona estudiada. En ese sentido tuvo como objetivo general describir tal vulnerabilidad, identificando y analizando las principales variables que la determinan, así como la descripción del perfil de la población en edad escolar en dicho estado de vulnerabilidad, lo cual permita diseñar una política educativa, cultural y de intervención social para el desarrollo humano en Guadalajara de Buga.

Besides the well-known inotropic effects of vanadium in cardiac muscle, previous studies have shown that vanadate can stimulate cell growth or induce cell death. In this work, we studied the toxicity to neonatal rat ventricular myocytes (cardiomyocytes) of two vanadate solutions containing different oligovanadates distribution, decavanadate (containing decameric vanadate, V10) and metavanadate (containing monomeric vanadate and also di-, tetra-, and pentavanadate). Incubation for 24 h with decavanadate or metavanadate induced necrotic cell death of cardiomyocytes, without significant caspase-3 activation. Only 10 μM total vanadium of either decavanadate (1 μMV10) or metavanadate (10 μM total vanadium) was needed to produce 50% loss of cell viability after 24 h (assessed with MTT and propidium iodide assays). Atomic absorption spectroscopy showed that vanadium accumulation in cardiomyocytes after 24 h was the same when incubation was done with decavanadate or metavanadate. A decrease of 75% of the rate of mitochondrial superoxide anion generation, monitored with dihydroethidium, and a sustained rise of cytosolic calcium (monitored with Fura-2-loaded cardiomyocytes) was observed after 24 h of incubation of cardiomyocytes with decavanadate or metavanadate concentrations close to those inducing 50% loss of cell viability produced. In addition, mitochondrial membrane depolarization within cardiomyocytes, monitored with tetramethylrhodamine ethyl esther or with 3,3′,6,6′-tetrachloro-1,1′,3,3′- tetraethylbenzimidazolcarbocyanine iodide, were observed after only 6 h of incubation with decavanadate or metavanadate. The concentration needed for 50% mitochondrial depolarization was 6.5 ( 1 μM total vanadium for both decavanadate (0.65 μMV10) and metavanadate. In conclusion, mitochondrial membrane depolarization was an early event in decavanadate- and monovanadate-induced necrotic cell death of cardiomyocytes.

After 24 hours, cardiac myocytes exposure to 10 μM (LD50) vanadate (meta or decavanadate) an increased (30%) of caspase 3-activation was observed, although not significant. On contrary, a significant decrease (40%) of ATP content, characteristic of necrotic cell death was detected. Furthermore, vanadate treatment increased intracellular Ca2+ level from 60 nM to 240 nM, whereas it decreases mitochondria superoxide anion generation and induces mitochondria membrane depolarization (IC50=6.5 μM). In conclusion, micromolar vanadate exposure induces large chances in two major bioenergetic markers in cardiac myocytes: intracellular calcium concentration and superoxide anion mitochondrial production, suggesting a necrotic cell death through a mitochondrial toxic pathway.
