We demonstrate a new type of cancellation of contributions to the electron and neutron electric dipole moments (EDMs) that occurs in three Higgs doublet models (3HDMs) when CP violation appears in the charged Higgs sector. The cancellation becomes exact when the two physical charged Higgs bosons in the model are degenerate in mass. Depending on the model parameters, degeneracies at the 10\% level are however sufficient to evade current bounds on the electron and neutron EDMs. We demonstrate that viable parameter space remains with both charged Higgs bosons lighter than 500 GeV and large CP-violating phases while also satisfying theoretical constraints from perturbativity and experimental ones from $\bar{B} \to X_s \gamma$ and direct searches., Comment: 35 pages, 22 figures. The Georgi-Machacek (GM) model is used to motivate and interpret LHC searches for doubly charged scalars decaying to vector bosons pairs. The doubly charged scalars are part of a degenerate fermiophobic custodial fiveplet with states $H_5^{\pm\pm}$, $H_5^\pm$, and $H_5^0$ and common mass $m_5$. The GM model has been extensively studied at the LHC for $m_5 > 200$ GeV but there is a largely unprobed region of parameter space from $120$ GeV $< m_5 < 200$ GeV where light doubly-charged scalars could exist. This region has been neglected by experimental searches due in part to the lack of a benchmark for $m_5 < 200$ GeV. In this paper we propose a new "low-$m_5$" benchmark for the GM model, defined for $m_5 \in (50, 550)$ GeV, and characterize its properties. We apply all existing experimental constraints and summarize the phenomenology of the surviving parameter space. We show that the benchmark populates almost the entirety of the relevant allowed parameter plane for $m_5$ below 200 GeV and satisfies the constraints from the 125 GeV Higgs boson signal strengths. We compute the 125 GeV Higgs boson's couplings to fermion and vector boson pairs and show that they are always enhanced in the benchmark relative to those in the Standard Model. We also compute the most relevant production cross sections for $H_5$ at the LHC, including Drell-Yan production of $H_5$ pairs. The process $pp \to H \to H_5 H_5$ contributes in a small region of parameter space, but is small compared to the Drell-Yan production cross section. Finally we compute the branching ratios of $H_5^0 \to \gamma\gamma$ and $H_5^{\pm} \to W^{\pm} \gamma$. The width-to-mass ratio of each of the $H_5$ states is below 1\% over the entire benchmark, so that the narrow-width approximation is well justified., Comment: 14 pages, 8 figures, v2: version accepted by PRD

We study the experimental constraints on dark sector CP violation that enters the visible sector through a Higgs portal coupling $H^{\dagger} H Z^{\prime}_{\mu\nu} \widetilde Z^{\prime \mu\nu}$, where the $Z^{\prime}$ is from a new U(1) gauge symmetry which is assumed to couple to lepton number. We compute explicitly the leading two-loop contribution of this effective operator to the electron electric dipole moment (EDM) and show that the resulting constraints are comparable to those from direct $Z^{\prime}$ searches at electron-positron colliders when the effective operator is generated at tree level. We also examine an explicit UV completion for this effective operator that was first introduced to achieve electroweak baryogenesis and show that collider constraints from $B$-factories already exclude viable baryogenesis for $Z^{\prime}$ masses below 10 GeV, and that future electron-positron Higgs factories will exclude viable baryogenesis for $Z^{\prime}$ masses up to the $e^+e^-$ center-of-mass energy if anticipated luminosities are achieved. It offered a platform where theorists and experimentalists could work together to elucidate the potential impacts of the Belle II program, which includes a wide scope of physics topics: B physics, charm, τ , quarkonium physics, electroweak precision measurements, and dark sector searches. Kou et al. are coordinated by teams of theory and experiment conveners: WG1, Semileptonic and leptonic B Decays; WG2, Radiative and Electroweak Penguins; WG3, φ1 and φ2 (Time-Dependent CP Violation) Measurements; WG4, φ3 Measurement; WG5, Charmless Hadronic B Decay; WG6, Charm; WG7, Quarkonium(-like); WG8, τ and Low-Multiplicity Processes; WG9, New Physics. We organized workshops twice a year from 2014 until 2016, which moved from KEK in Japan to Europe and the Americas, gathering experts in the respective fields for discussions with Belle II members. One of the goals for B2TiP was to propose so-called “golden and silver channels”: we asked each working group to choose, among numerous possible measurements, those that would have the highest potential impact and to focus on them for the writeup. Theorists scrutinized the role of those measurements in terms of understanding the theory behind them, and estimated the theoretical uncertainties now achievable as well as prospects for the future. For flavor physics, having tight control of hadronic uncertainties is one of the most crucial aspects in the field, and this is considered an important criterion in determining the golden or silver channels. Experimentalists, on the other hand, investigated the expected improvements with data from Belle II. For the channels where the errors are dominated by statistical uncertainties, or where systematic errors are reducible, the errors can decrease rapidly as more data becomes available. The impact of the upgraded performance from Belle II is a crucial element in reducing the uncertainties: we therefore include the latest available studies of the detector efficiency using Monte Carlo simulated events.We list the golden and silver channel table in the introductory chapter, as a guide for the chapters that follow. This book is not a collection of reports based on talks given at the workshops. The working group conveners endeavored to construct a coherent document that can be used by Belle II collaborators, and others in the field of flavor physics, as a reference. Two books of a similar type have been produced in the past: The BaBar Book [1] and The Physics of the B Factories [2]. In order to avoid too much repetition with respect to those references, we refer to them wherever possible for introductory material. We study the effects of custodial symmetry violation in the Georgi-Machacek (GM) model. The GM model adds isospin-triplet scalars to the Standard Model in a way that preserves custodial symmetry at tree level; however, this custodial symmetry has long been known to be violated at the one-loop level by hypercharge interactions. We consider the custodial-symmetric GM model to arise at some high scale as a result of an unspecified ultraviolet completion, and quantify the custodial symmetry violation induced as the model is run down to the weak scale. The measured value of the eletroweak rho parameter (along with unitarity considerations) lets us constrain the scale of the ultraviolet completion to lie below tens to hundreds of TeV. Subject to this constraint, we quantify the size of other custodial-symmetry-violating effects at the weak scale, including custodial symmetry violation in the couplings of the 125 GeV Higgs boson to W and Z boson pairs and mixings and mass splittings among the additional Higgs bosons in the theory. We compute the decay widths for the neutral and singly-charged Higgs bosons in the Georgi-Machacek model into the final states $\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\gamma}$, $Z\ensuremath{\gamma}$, and $W\ensuremath{\gamma}$. These decays are most phenomenologically interesting for the fermiophobic custodial fiveplet states ${H}_{5}^{0}$ and ${H}_{5}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$ when their masses are below threshold for decays into $WW$, $ZZ$, or $WZ$. We study the allowed branching ratios into these final states using scans over the allowed parameter space, and show how the model can be constrained by LEP searches for a fermiophobic Higgs boson decaying to two photons. The calculation involves evaluating one-loop diagrams in which the loop contains particles with two different masses, some of which do not appear in the existing literature. We give results for these diagrams in a form convenient for numerical implementation using the looptools package.

The Georgi-Machacek model is used to motivate and interpret LHC searches for doubly- and singly-charged Higgs bosons decaying into vector boson pairs. In this paper we study the constraints on and phenomenology of the "H5plane" benchmark scenario in the Georgi-Machacek model, which has been proposed for use in these searches. We show that the entire H5plane benchmark is compatible with the LHC measurements of the 125 GeV Higgs boson couplings. We also point out that, over much of the H5plane benchmark, the lineshapes of the two CP-even neutral heavy Higgs bosons $H$ and $H_5^0$ will overlap and interfere when produced in vector boson fusion with decays to $W^+W^-$ or $ZZ$. Finally we compute the decay branching ratios of the additional heavy Higgs bosons within the H5plane benchmark to facilitate the development of search strategies for these additional particles., 18 pages, 18 figures. v2: title changed, refs added, discussion clarified, version accepted by PRD

We study two models of scalar dark matter from "large" electroweak multiplets with isospin 5/2 (n=6 members) and 7/2 (n=8), whose scalar potentials preserve a $Z_2$ symmetry. Because of large annihilation cross sections due to electroweak interactions, these scalars can constitute all the dark matter only for masses in the multi-TeV range. For such high masses, Sommerfeld enhancement and co-annihilations play important roles in the dark matter relic abundance calculation, reducing the upper bound on the large multiplet's mass by almost a factor of two. We determine the allowed parameter ranges including both of these effects and show that these models are as yet unconstrained by dark matter direct detection experiments, but will be probed by currently-running and proposed future experiments. We also show that a Landau pole appears in these models at energy scales below $10^9$ GeV, indicating the presence of additional new physics below that scale., 33 pages, 10 figures; v2: refs added, some improvements to text, version accepted by PRD; v3: minor typo fixes

We calculate the branching ratios of ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{b0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\tau}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\tau}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ via an $s$-channel Higgs boson and estimate the sensitivity to this process from $\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Upsilon}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}{\ensuremath{\chi}}_{b0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}{\ensuremath{\tau}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\tau}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$. We show that future running at the $\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Upsilon}}(3S)$ at a very high luminosity super $B$ factory can put significant constraints on the type-II two-Higgs-doublet model when the discovered 125 GeV Higgs boson is the heavier of the two charge parity ($CP$)-even scalars.

Measurements of the off-shell Higgs boson production cross section in $gg(\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{h}^{*})\ensuremath{\rightarrow}ZZ$ have recently been used by the CMS and ATLAS collaborations to indirectly constrain the total width of the Higgs boson. I point out that the interpretation of these measurements as a Higgs width constraint can be invalidated if additional neutral Higgs boson(s) are present with masses below about 350 GeV.

The Georgi-Machacek model adds two SU(2)_L-triplet scalars to the Standard Model in such a way as to preserve custodial SU(2) symmetry. We study the generalizations of the Georgi-Machacek model to SU(2)_L representations larger than triplets. Perturbative unitarity considerations limit the possibilities to models containing only SU(2)_L quartets, quintets, or sextets. These models are phenomenologically interesting because they allow the couplings of the 125 GeV Higgs boson to WW and ZZ to be larger than their values in the Standard Model. We write down the most general custodial SU(2)-preserving scalar potentials for these models and outline their phenomenology. We find that experimental and theoretical constraints on the fermiophobic custodial-fiveplet states present in each of the models lead to absolute upper bounds on the 125 GeV Higgs boson coupling strength to WW and ZZ., Comment: 26 pages, 5 figures, V2: clarification of condition to obtain kappa_V = kappa_f, typo fixed in Eq. High-precision measurements of the relic dark matter density and the calculation of dark matter annihilation branching fractions in the sun or the galactic halo today motivate the computation of the neutralino annihilation cross section beyond leading order. We consider neutralino annihilation via squark exchange and parameterize the effective annihilation vertex as a dimension-six operator suppressed by two powers of the squark mass and related to the divergence of the axial vector current of the final-state quarks. Since the axial vector current is conserved at tree level in the limit of massless quarks, this dimension-six operator contains a suppression by the quark mass. The quark mass suppression can be lifted in two ways: (1) by corrections to the dimension-six operator involving the anomalous triangle diagram, and (2) by going to dimension-eight. We address the first of these possibilities by evaluating the anomalous triangle diagram, which contributes to neutralino annihilation to gluon pairs. We relate the triangle diagram via the anomaly equation to the decay of a pseudoscalar into two gluons and use the Adler-Bardeen theorem to extract the next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections to chi chi --> gg from the known corrections to pseudoscalar decay. The strong dependence of the dominant chi chi --> q qbar cross section on the relative velocity of the neutralinos makes these NLO corrections unimportant at chi decoupling but significant today., 17 pages, 7 figures. v2: added refs and discussion of present-day neutralino annihilation. v3: PLB version

This paper aims to reflect on the successful management of pressure ulcer equipment within a district general hospital. Insight is given into what is considered an effective, efficient and economic use of static and dynamic mattress, underpinned by a fundamental education package into pressure ulcer management and prevention techniques.

We analyze the loop induced decays of the Higgs boson into pairs of gluons and photons in the Littlest Higgs model. We find that the deviation of the partial widths for these decays relative to their Standard Model values scales with 1/f^2, where f ~ TeV is the mass scale of the new heavy particles in the model. For f = 1 TeV, Gamma(H -> gg) is reduced by 6-10% and Gamma(H -> gamma gamma) is reduced by 5-7% compared to their Standard Model values. We update the indirect constraints on the Georgi-Machacek model from $B$-physics and electroweak precision observables, including new constraints from $b \to s \gamma$ and $B^0_s \to \mu^+ \mu^-$. We illustrate the effect of these constraints on the couplings of the Standard Model-like Higgs boson by performing scans using the most general scalar potential, subject to vacuum stability and perturbativity constraints. We find that simultaneous enhancements of all the Higgs production cross sections by up to 39\% are still allowed after imposing these constraints. Evidence for dark matter self-interactions has recently been reported based on the observation of a spatial offset between the dark matter halo and the stars in a galaxy in the cluster Abell 3827. Interpreting the offset as due to dark matter self-interactions leads to a cross section measurement of sigma_DM/m ~ (1-1.5) cm^2/g, where m is the mass of the dark matter particle. We use this observation to constrain singlet scalar dark matter coupled to the Standard Model and to two-Higgs-doublet models. We show that the most natural scenario in this class of models is very light dark matter, below about 0.1 GeV, whose relic abundance is set by freeze-in, i.e., by slow production of dark matter in the early universe via extremely tiny interactions with the Higgs boson, never reaching thermal equilibrium. We also show that the dark matter abundance can be established through the usual thermal freeze-out mechanism in the singlet scalar extension of the Yukawa-aligned two-Higgs-doublet model, but that it requires rather severe fine tuning of the singlet scalar mass., Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures. We study models in which the Higgs sector is extended by a single scalar electroweak multiplet Z with isospin T=5/2 (sextet) or 7/2 (octet) and the same hypercharge as the Standard Model Higgs doublet, in which Z is odd under a global Z2 symmetry. This Z2 symmetry keeps the lightest (neutral) member of Z stable and has interesting implications for phenomenology. We determine the constraints on these models from precision electroweak measurements and Higgs boson decays to two photons. We compute the thermal relic density of the stable member of Z and show that, for masses below 1 TeV, it can make up at most 1% of the dark matter in the universe. We study the most general scalar potential of the Georgi-Machacek model, which adds isospin-triplet scalars to the Standard Model (SM) in a way that preserves custodial SU(2) symmetry. We show that this model possesses a decoupling limit, in which the predominantly-triplet states become heavy and degenerate while the couplings of the remaining light neutral scalar approach those of the SM Higgs boson. We find that the SM-like Higgs boson couplings to fermion pairs and gauge boson pairs can deviate from their SM values by corrections as large as $\mathcal{O}(v^2/M_{\rm new}^2)$, where $v$ is the SM Higgs vacuum expectation value and $M_{\rm new}$ is the mass scale of the predominantly-triplet states. In particular, the SM-like Higgs boson couplings to $W$ and $Z$ boson pairs can decouple much more slowly than in two Higgs doublet models, in which they deviate from their SM values like $\mathcal{O}(v^4/M_{\rm new}^4)$. Furthermore, near the decoupling limit the SM-like Higgs boson couplings to $W$ and $Z$ pairs are always larger than their SM values, which cannot occur in two Higgs doublet models. As such, a precision measurement of Higgs couplings to $W$ and $Z$ pairs may provide an effective method of distinguishing the Georgi-Machacek model from two Higgs doublet models. We compute the branching fractions of Bs,d→ℓ+ℓ− in the type-II two-Higgs-doublet model with large tanβ . We find that the parameters of the neutral Higgs sector of the two-Higgs-doublet model cancel in the result, so that the branching fractions depend only on the charged Higgs mass and tanβ . For large values of tanβ and a charged Higgs mass above the bound from b→sγ , we find that the branching fractions can be enhanced by up to an order of magnitude or suppressed by up to a factor of two compared to the Standard Model result. We point out that previous calculations in the literature are gauge-dependent due to the omission of an important diagram, which gives the dominant contribution in the 't Hooft–Feynman gauge. We have analyzed in detail the region of the (MH+,tanβ) plane to be probed by searches for Bs→μ+μ− in Run II of the Tevatron. Since the branching fraction increases like tan4β , this decay mode is complementary to b→sγ and efficiently probes the large tanβ region. For tanβ=60 , an integrated luminosity of 20 fb −1 in an extended Run II will probe charged Higgs masses up to 260 GeV, if the background to Bs→μ+μ− is small. For the same value of tanβ , the LHC may be able to explore charged Higgs masses up to 1 TeV using this decay. Abnormalities in levels of choline and its metabolites have been reported in the lesions of brains of X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD) patients. We have examined the turnover of the major choline-containing phospholipid, phosphatidylcholine (PtdCho), in fibroblasts from hemizygous X-ALD, heterozygous X-ALD, Zellweger syndrome (ZW), and male and female control individuals to assess possible alterations in PtdCho metabolism mediated by activation of protein kinase C (PKC). Hydrolysis of PtdCho by phospholipase D (PLD) and resynthesis of PtdCho from labeled choline were stimulated 2- to 4-fold by PKC activation with the phorbol ester, 4β-12- O -tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (β-TPA), in all cells except those from heterozygous X-ALD individuals. No differences in quantity or intracellular distribution of PKC activity, PKC isoforms by Western blot analysis, or of the PKC substrate, myristoylated alanine-rich C kinase substrate (MARCKS), were apparent in any of the cells. Thus, altered PtdCho metabolism was not directly linked to either of these inherited defects that result in abnormal peroxisomal functions. Further, altered responsiveness of PLD in X-ALD heterozygotes was independent of changes in PKC and MARCKS.

The discovery at the LHC of a scalar particle with properties that are so far consistent with the SM Higgs boson is one of the most important advances in the history of particle physics. The challenge of future collider experiments is to determine whether its couplings will show deviations from the SM Higgs, as this would indicate new physics at the TeV scale, and also to probe the flavor structure of the Yukawa couplings. As a benchmark alternative to the SM Higgs, we consider a generic two Higgs doublet model (2HDM) and analyze the precision to which the LHC14, an ILC250, 500, 1000 GeV and a 125 GeV Muon Collider (MC) can determine the gauge and Yukawa couplings. We allow for correlations among the couplings. We include the impact of a Higgs total width measurement, indirectly at the LHC and ILC and by a direct scan at the MC. We also discuss pattern relations among the couplings that can test for singlet or doublet Higgs extensions of 2HDMs.

The Standard Model Higgs boson may be mixed with another scalar that does not couple to fermions. The electroweak quantum numbers of such an additional scalar can be determined by measuring the quartic Higgs-Higgs-vector-vector couplings, which contribute---along with the coveted triple Higgs coupling---to double Higgs production in $e^+e^-$ collisions. We show that simultaneous sensitivity to the quartic Higgs-Higgs-vector-vector coupling and the triple Higgs coupling can be obtained using measurements of the double Higgs production cross section at two different e+e- center-of-mass energies. Models in which the Higgs sector is extended by a single electroweak scalar multiplet X can possess an accidental global U(1) symmetry at the renormalizable level if X has isospin T greater or equal to 2. We show that all such U(1)-symmetric models are excluded by the interplay of the cosmological relic density of the lightest (neutral) component of X and its direct detection cross section via Z exchange. The sole exception is the T=2 multiplet, whose lightest member decays on a few-day to few-year timescale via a Planck-suppressed dimension-5 operator., 20 pages, 5 figures. The International Linear Collider Technical Design Report (TDR) describes in four volumes the physics case and the design of a 500 GeV centre-of-mass energy linear electron-positron collider based on superconducting radio-frequency technology using Niobium cavities as the accelerating structures. The accelerator can be extended to 1 TeV and also run as a Higgs factory at around 250 GeV and on the Z0 pole. A comprehensive value estimate of the accelerator is give, together with associated uncertainties. It is shown that no significant technical issues remain to be solved. Once a site is selected and the necessary site-dependent engineering is carried out, construction can begin immediately. The TDR also gives baseline documentation for two high-performance detectors that can share the ILC luminosity by being moved into and out of the beam line in a "push-pull" configuration. These detectors, ILD and SiD, are described in detail. Author(s): Simmons, EH; Chivukula, RS; Coleppa, B; Logan, HE; Martin, A | Abstract: Ongoing LHC searches for the standard model Higgs Boson in WW or ZZ decay modes strongly constrain the top-Higgs state predicted in many models with new dynamics that preferentially affects top quarks. Such a state couples strongly to top-quarks, and is therefore produced through gluon fusion at a rate that can be greatly enhanced relative to the rate for the standard model Higgs boson. As we discuss in this talk, a top-Higgs state with mass less than 300 GeV is excluded at 95% CL if the associated top-pion has a mass of 150 GeV, and the constraint is even stronger if the mass of the top-pion state exceeds the top-quark mass or if the top-pion decay constant is a substantial fraction of the weak scale. These results have significant implications for theories with strong top dynamics, such as topcolor-assisted technicolor, top-seesaw models, and certain Higgsless models.

If the Higgs boson is composite, signs of this compositeness should appear via a formfactor-like suppression of Higgs scattering cross sections at momentum transfers above the compositeness scale. We explore this by computing the cross section for e+e- ---> ZH (Higgsstrahlung) in a warped five-dimensional gauge-Higgs unification model known as the Minimal Composite Higgs Model (MCHM). We observe that the Higgsstrahlung cross section in the MCHM is strongly suppressed compared to that in the Standard Model at center-of-mass energies above the scale of the first Kaluza-Klein excitations, due to cancellations among the contributions of successive Z boson Kaluza-Klein modes. We test the possibility that the newly-discovered 126 GeV boson is a pseudoscalar by examining the correlations among the loop-induced pseudoscalar decay branching fractions to $\gamma\gamma$, $ZZ^*$, $Z\gamma$, and $WW^*$ final states in a model-independent way. These four decays are controlled by only two effective operators, so that the rates in $Z\gamma$ and $WW^*$ are predicted now that the rates in $\gamma\gamma$ and $ZZ^*,Z\gamma^* \to 4 \ell$ have been measured. We find that the pseudoscalar possibility is disfavored but not conclusively excluded. Experimental exclusion of the $Z\gamma$ decay to well below $\sigma/\sigma_{\rm SM} \sim 170$ or conclusive observation of the $WW^*$ decay near the Standard Model rate would eliminate the pseudoscalar possibility. The $Z\gamma$ exclusion should be possible using existing data. We analyze the phenomenology of the top-pion and top-Higgs states in models with strong top dynamics, and translate the present LHC searches for the Standard Model Higgs into bounds on these scalar states. We explore the possibility that the new state at a mass of approximately 125 GeV observed at the LHC is consistent with a neutral pseudoscalar top-pion state. We demonstrate that a neutral pseudoscalar top-pion can generate the diphoton signal at the observed rate. However, the region of model parameter space where this is the case does not correspond to classic topcolor-assisted technicolor scenarios with degenerate charged and neutral top-pions and a top-Higgs mass of order twice the top mass; rather, additional isospin violation would need to be present and the top dynamics would be more akin to that in top seesaw models. Moreover, the interpretation of the new state as a top-pion can be sustained only if the ZZ (four-lepton) and WW (two-lepton plus missing energy) signatures initially observed at the 3? level decline in significance as additional data is accrued., Comment: 25 pages, pdf embedded figures. We show that combining a direct measurement of the Higgs total width from the H{yields}ZZ{yields}4l lineshape with Higgs signal rate measurements allows Higgs couplings to be extracted in a model-independent way from CERN LHC data. Using existing experimental studies with 30 fb{sup -1} at one detector of the 14 TeV LHC, we show that the couplings squared of a 190 GeV Higgs to WW, ZZ, and gg can be extracted with statistical precisions of about 10%, and a 95% confidence level upper limit on an unobserved component of the Higgs decay width of about 22% of the standard model Higgs width can be set. The method can also be applied for heavier Higgs masses.

We study the charged Higgs couplings to fermions in the "democratic" three-Higgs-doublet model, in which one doublet couples to down-type quarks, one to up-type quarks, and one to charged leptons. Flavor-changing neutral Higgs couplings are absent because the Glashow-Weinberg-Paschos condition for natural flavor conservation is in effect. We show that this model reproduces the coupling structure of the charged Higgs boson in the recently-proposed Yukawa-aligned two-Higgs-doublet model, with two subtle constraints that arise from the unitarity of the charged Higgs mixing matrix. It was recently argued by Hooper and Goodenough [arXiv:1010.2752] that the excess gamma ray emission from within 1-2 degrees of the galactic center can be well-described by annihilation of ~8 GeV dark matter particles into tau pairs. I show that such a dark matter signal can be obtained naturally in the lepton-specific two-Higgs-doublet model extended by a stable singlet scalar dark matter candidate. The favored parameter region prefers a light Higgs state (below 200 GeV) with enhanced couplings to leptons and sizable invisible branching fraction. We discuss the deconstructed version of a topcolor-assisted technicolor model wherein the mechanism of top quark mass generation is separated from the rest of electroweak symmetry breaking. The minimal deconstructed version of this scenario is a "triangle moose" model, where the top quark gets its mass from coupling to a top-Higgs field, while the gauge boson masses are generated from a Higgsless sector. The spectrum of the model includes scalar (top-Higgs) and pseudoscalar (top-pion) states. LHC searches for the standard model Higgs Boson in WW or ZZ decay modes place strong constraints on the top-Higgs state predicted in many models with new dynamics preferentially affecting top quarks. The Standard Model Higgs searches using the first 1-2 fb-1 of LHC data can be used to put interesting constraints on new scalar particles other than the Higgs. We investigate one such scenario in which electroweak symmetry is broken via strongly coupled conformal dynamics. This scenario contains a neutral scalar dilaton---the Goldstone boson associated with spontaneously broken scale invariance---with a mass below the conformal symmetry breaking scale and couplings to Standard Model particles similar (but not identical) to those of the Standard Model Higgs boson. We translate the LEP and LHC Higgs limits to constrain the dilaton mass and conformal breaking scale. The conformal breaking scale f is constrained to be above 1 TeV for dilaton masses between 145 and 600 GeV, though it can be as low as 400 GeV for dilaton masses below 110 GeV. We also show that (i) a dilaton chi with mass below 110 GeV and consistent with the LEP constraints can appear in gg --> chi --> gamma gamma with a rate up to ~10 times the corresponding Standard Model Higgs rate, and (ii) a dilaton with mass of several hundred GeV is much narrower than the corresponding Standard Model Higgs, leading to improved search sensitivity in chi --> ZZ --> 4l., 15 pages, 12 figures, References added, Figure 10 modified, Figure 11 added

We study the LHC search prospects for a model in which the neutrinos obtain Dirac masses from couplings to a second Higgs doublet with tiny vacuum expectation value. The model contains a charged Higgs boson that decays to l nu with branching fractions controlled by the neutrino masses and mixing angles as measured in neutrino oscillation experiments. The most promising signal is electroweak production of H+ H- pairs with decays to l l' pTmiss, where l l' = e+ e-, mu+ mu-, and e+- mu-+. We find that a cut on the kinematic variable M_{T2} eliminates most of the t t and W-pair background. Depending on the neutrino mass spectrum and mixing angles, a 100 (300) GeV charged Higgs could be discovered at the LHC with as little as 8 (24) fb-1 of integrated luminosity at 14 TeV pp center-of-mass energy., Comment: 24 pages, 4 figures. We study the phenomenology of the charged Higgs boson in the "flipped" two Higgs doublet model, in which one doublet gives mass to up-type quarks and charged leptons and the other gives mass to down-type quarks. We present the charged Higgs branching ratios and summarize the indirect constraints. We extrapolate existing LEP searches for H+H- and Tevatron searches for t tbar with t --> H+ b into the flipped model and extract constraints on MH+ and the parameter tan(beta). We finish by reviewing existing LHC charged Higgs searches and suggest that the LHC reach in this model could be extended for charged Higgs masses below the tb threshold by considering t tbar with t --> H+ b and H+ --> q qbar, as has been used in Tevatron searches., 23 pages, 7 figures. We study the couplings of a CP-even neutral Higgs boson h in a model containing one scalar SU(2)_L doublet, one real triplet, and one complex triplet with hypercharge 1. Because the two triplets contribute to the rho parameter with opposite signs, the triplet vacuum expectation values can be sizable. We show that (i) the hWW and hZZ couplings can be larger than the corresponding values in the Standard Model, and (ii) the ratio of the WW and ZZ couplings of h can be different than the corresponding ratio in the Standard Model. Neither of these results can occur in models containing only Higgs doublets. We also compute the rates for gg --> h --> WW and gg --> h --> ZZ and find that, for reasonable parameter values and M_h ~ 140-180 GeV, the hadron collider rate for gg --> h --> WW (ZZ) can be up to 20% (5 times) larger than in the Standard Model. We examine various direct and indirect experimental constraints on the nearly minimal supersymmetric standard model (nMSSM) and obtain the following observations: (i) Current experiments stringently constrain the parameter space, setting a range of 1 similar to 37 GeV for the lightest neutralino (chi) over tilde (0)(1), 30 similar to 140 GeV (1 similar to 250 GeV) for the lightest CP-even (CP-odd) Higgs boson, and 1.5 similar to 10 for tan beta; (ii) To account for the dark matter relic density, besides the s-channel exchange of a Z boson, the s-channel exchange of a light A(1) (the lightest CP-odd Higgs boson) can also play an important role in lightest supersymmetric particle annihilation. Compared with the Z-exchange annihilation channel, the A1-exchange channel is more favored by muon g - 2 data and allows much broader regions for the parameters; (iii) In a large part of the allowed parameter space the SM-like Higgs boson may dominantly decay to (chi) over tilde (1)(0)(chi) over tilde (1)(0) or A(1)A(1) and the conventional visible decays (e. g. into bottom quarks) are severely suppressed.

We study the "lepton-specific" two Higgs doublet model, in which one doublet Phi_l gives mass to charged leptons and the other Phi_q gives mass to both up- and down-type quarks. We examine the existing experimental constraints on the charged Higgs boson mass and the parameter tan(beta) \equiv /. The most stringent constraints come from LEP-II direct searches and lepton flavour universality in tau decays. The former yields M_H+ \geq 92.0 GeV; the latter yields two allowed regions, 0.61 tan(beta) GeV \leq M_H+ \leq 0.73 tan(beta) GeV or M_H+ \geq 1.4 tan(beta) GeV, and excludes parameter regions beyond the LEP-II bound for tan(beta) \gtrsim 65. We compute the cross section for $\ensuremath{\chi}\ensuremath{\chi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}q\overline{q}g$ at order ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{s}^{2}/{M}_{\stackrel{\texttildelow{}}{q}}^{6}$ arising from interference between the tree-level and loop-induced processes. This interference term is the same order in ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{s}$ as $\ensuremath{\chi}\ensuremath{\chi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}gg$; for mass degenerate squarks ${M}_{{\stackrel{\texttildelow{}}{q}}_{R}}={M}_{{\stackrel{\texttildelow{}}{q}}_{L}}={M}_{\stackrel{\texttildelow{}}{q}}$ we find ${v}_{\mathrm{rel}}{\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{\mathrm{int}}=[\ensuremath{-}2{m}_{\ensuremath{\chi}}^{2}/3{M}_{\stackrel{\texttildelow{}}{q}}^{2}]{v}_{\mathrm{rel}}\ensuremath{\sigma}(\ensuremath{\chi}\ensuremath{\chi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}gg)$.

We report on two recent calculations of QCD corrections to neutralino annihilation cross sections: (1) the next-to-leading order corrections to chi chi -> g g, and (2) the contribution to the cross section for chi chi -> q qbar g arising from interference between the tree-level and loop-induced processes., 4 pages, to appear in Proceedings of SUSY06, the 14th International Conference on Supersymmetry and the Unification of Fundamental Interactions, UC Irvine, California, 12-17 June 2006
